Hi all. I have a cold which I know is only a minor thing but is making me miserable Sad I feel very achey and yuck and it seems to have made my morning sickness worse, I'd managed not to be sick for a few weeks but threw up again this morning and have felt on the verge of being sick quite a lot all morning. I HATE this nausea and am sick to fucking death of it!!!! I'm probably going to put on a ton of weight after having the baby because I'll be so delighted at eating not making me feel sick anymore that I shall start stuffing my face with everything!! Either that or I'll get a sick bug!

Oh and my lovely shiny car is broked Sad Sad But the dealer we bought it from has been very good actually and has agreed to pay my local garage to fix it rather than insisting we take it the 2.5hrs back to them and it will hopefully be fixed by the end of today

I did some online shopping last week and now have a lovely new changing bag, a rather funky looking bfing cushion and a few other bits and bobs I was needing. I also bought one of these I like feeding vests so that I can lift my top up so boob is covered and still have vest underneath to cover tummy (which TBH I am much more concerned about exposing in public post baby than my boobs!!) and so a vest that can hold tummy in too sounds fabtastic!! I have tried it on over my boobs only to check the fit and it was er a little tricky to say the least due to tightness of tummy bit so am confident its going to do a good job of squishing me in a bit! Still waiting for my new sling though which was the first thing I ordered Hmm

Jimmy - I'm sorry but I did Lol a little at you and the other pg women both sobbing at the drs! I sympathise completely on the stretch marks. I first got them when I had a horse riding accident aged 11 and bruised my hip so badly I got stretch marks all over it, got loads more through puberty and then in my 1st pg I got loads all the way from my pubes to several inches above my belly button. And every single midwife felt the need to point them out to me, as if I hadn't noticed the bright red lines zig zagging their way over my entire stomach Hmm Angry But they have all faded to silver and I've never got any more in any of my subsequent pgs. They do look worse at the moment though being all stretched out and they feel like rather deep crevices running across my stomach. But when not pg they're really not that bad anymore.

Was going to post more but keep getting interrupted by the phone and now have to do school run, will try and come back and post more later.

SpannerPants · 27/05/2011 15:08

I've been released Grin - it's so nice to be home! The consultant finally came to see me and said the bloods are normal apart from I'm anaemic (got to double up on my iron tablets, yuck!) and my BP is 94/55 so they don't think it's pre-eclampsia. One of the urine tests is still outstanding but they're going to pass the result onto my community midwife and I'm seeing her on Wednesday anyway. I had a growth scan yesterday and Bob's estimated weight is 4lb 13 which sounds huge to me (33+5) and the placenta looks like it's working well. The sonographer gave me some free pictures too which was really nice of her.

I'm really glad I had semi-packed my hospital bag - everything was in a pile in the nursery, it made it much easier for DP to get everything together.

Hope you're all ok and looking forward to the bank holiday weekend!

buttonmoon78 · 27/05/2011 17:56

Sounds like you've been in prison spanner!

New heartburn stuff is rubbish so am waiting for a call back from gp as to whether they can give me something else before the weekend.

Am so tired, despite having an afternoon kip. Just want to curl up and die somewhere quiet. It really doesn't help that I can't take any more tablets for a bit. I hate feeling so sorry for myself.

confuddledDOTcom · 27/05/2011 18:12

Sorry to hear about the tonsils button, it's not nice at the best of times. If you're anything like us we wouldn't last that long!

hefner, you'll be great, you learn together and quickly get into a pattern.

Fraochsmum, I guess it's all balancing up the benefits and risks. What are the chances it will happen again and what if everything is fine and you decide to go for the furthest hospital?

Pesha, that's where maternity jeans come in handy! I stayed in them awhile because they put less pressure on my scar, but I liked that they kept my belly warm/ covered when nursing. I've got some Breast Vests which I got from last year's Baby Show so not worn much last time. They're like vests with the boob section cut out so they don't cover anything other than your belly when you lift your top.

Glad to hear you're home Spanner! That's a nice weight, don't go by premature babies as they're usually smaller because there's a reason they're premature. I did that with my eldest, I thought she was huge at 4lb 2oz when she was born at 31 weeks but I realised it's because she was healthy, I just went into labour. My youngest was 4lb 8oz at 35 weeks and she was IUGR.

I've got to go and get dinner finished so I'll post about my day when I get back.

confuddledDOTcom · 27/05/2011 19:18

Just about to leave for the hospital. I'll try and update later if I can.

SpannerPants · 27/05/2011 19:39

Did you hear back from the GP Button? Heartburn is miserable and the medicines taste vile, the only one that doesn't make me gag is the chewy spearmint rennies.

Hope you've managed to get the car sorted Pesha

Stangirl not just me who finds the startle reflex funny then!

Good luck Confuddled - thinking of you x

Eglu · 27/05/2011 19:50

Good luck Confuddled.

Button hope you are feeleing better soon. My Consultant prescribed ranitidine tablets when my heartburn was so bad the gaviscon was no longer working. If it is really bad you need the strongest stuff available.

Spanner glad you are home.

I'm freaking out at my belly button today. Never had it pop, but the top of it is looking like it may just do that. Outies just scare me, and I don't want one. {wails}

But really that is the worst thing I have to complain about today so I should be happy.

cara2244 · 27/05/2011 21:39

Eglu mine is a borderline outie today!
Good luck confuddled.
Just watching outnumbered...that's it, I am stopping at two!

Mitchell81 · 27/05/2011 22:08

good luck confuddled

JimmyChoo17 · 27/05/2011 22:21

Good luck confuddled! Xx

buttonmoon78 · 28/05/2011 08:43

Got another appt on Tuesday pm as he wouldn't give me ranitidine cos I'd need counselling Hmm.

Tonsils really hurt today. Am struggling with taking paracetamol 6hourly. If I slept all night it'd be ok but I keep waking needing some. And cos it's viral, I've no idea how long this is going to last for.

confuddled I hope you're ok - both of you.

Ginfox · 28/05/2011 10:05

Good luck Confuddled.

SpannerPants · 28/05/2011 10:39

Why would you need counselling for ranitidine - that's very strange! I'm a dr myself and often prescribe either omeprazole or ranitidine for pregnant ladies with reflux because I know how miserable it is. Yes it hasn't been fully tested (but that's only due to ethics) but it has been used for over 50yrs with no problems - and in a lot of places if you need an emergency Caesarian they routinely give ranitidine as a preop to reduce the acid in the stomach!

Obviously if you don't need it, it's better to not take it, but if you're really struggling then I don't see why it's such a problem!

Phew, rant over, it just really annoys me how some of our symptoms are brushed under the carpet by some (mainly male) drs - they've obviously never had bad reflux before!

SpannerPants · 28/05/2011 10:40

Oh and sympathies on the throat button - I've got a stinking cold so am living on lemon and honey, strepsils and sorbet at the moment!

buttonmoon78 · 28/05/2011 11:21

Presumably because, as you say - it's not proven as 'safe in pg' but anecdotal evidence suggests it's not 'unsafe'. Same old tripe. Probably really means he wants to tell me it's my decision - my risk. I mean, come off it - I'm on cocodamol usually and will be on dihydrocodeine at night before long so I'm sure it can't be more contraindicated than that - that's if it's contraindicated at all!

My lovely sister (consultant anaesthetist) says I can take the paras 5 hourly and then have 1 extra tablet if I really need it, 2 if I'm desperate. But for no more than 2 days. If I'm still feeling this rubbish in more than 2 days I shall want to know why!

There are days when I'm grateful she's had the training she has! She's a paed specialist too so can work out children's max dosages in a heartbeat too. Can be v v useful!

I totally get the point about men doctors though. He tried to tell me the gaviscon advance should be working, that it probably wasn't reflux - my throat is sore because I have tonsillitis.

I asked him why tonsillitis would mean I had acidic liquid swishing around my mouth whenever I burp, bend over, eat, drink etc. That's when he offered me a previously unbookable appt on Tues!

fallingandlaughing · 28/05/2011 20:56

hi everyone

just checking in as I have found it hard to keep up with the thread. July seems to be such a popular month to give birth!

Am 32+3 but not too much longer to go. Have been told all along that |I would be induced at 38 weeks... now they are saying by 38 weeks. Baby is already over 5lbs... Started assembling tiems for my hospital bagtoday. Why is it so hard to find front-buttoning nighties?

That's great news about your SiL Button... mine is due in November and it is really exciting having our babies so close together.

Twit · 29/05/2011 08:53

How exciting for you, do you know when you'll get a date?

I hope confuddled and her LO are ok.
Woohoo button you'll be scaring reminding her what the last bit is like.
I hope every one is ok.
I'm looking at hiring a pool - am currently looking at birthpoolinabox but DH reckons a heated one from a pink website (baby love?) would be better. I dunno, I'm only aiming to be in it for the birth (never know though I suppose)
Does anyone have any recommendations?

inbetweener · 29/05/2011 09:56

Morning all,
Ok its official I cant sleep anymore Sad. I can manage about an hour at a time on each side but my hips are AGONY !
Im so tired but hey ho. An afternoon nap might have been called for this afternoon but we are off to church for dd1's holy communion celebration at 3 !

bump is moving loads at the moment. DH and I were watching Kickass last night and I was gasping outloud at the force of some of the movements !

Oh and I managed to get a MW appt for monday ! My first since I was 28 weeks !!!! Its at another hospital as mine is still over subscribed till my 36 week appt but its the community MW's so its sort of still connected. I will be interested to see if he really is breech !

twit havent had a home birth but hope you find the one you want Grin
button lovely news about SIL and hope you feel better soon.

Oh and a TMI question. Sex. Are you all still doing it ? DH seems to be finding my ample bosom quite attractive at the moment and we have been having sex quite regulary Blush. However I am nnow 32+3 and its getting a little uncomfy. My bump really aches afterwards and last night things down below felt quite odd. Anyone ?? Blush Blush

JimmyChoo17 · 29/05/2011 12:43

Euuuggghhhh......last big social event out of the way (wedding) thank god for that was really struggling with feeling uncomfortable and fed up of drunk people hanging off bump....stupid drunken advice and comments off people who havent even got kids etc etc. I have been taking mental pictures mind you, just to remind myself how awful drunk people look ha ha! Sure will forget that at first opportunity mind Grin

Have been in bed all morning as I'm suffering with what can only be described as a hangover.....but obviously I wasn't drinking.

inbetweener still at it just not nearly as much. Think bumpy wife is a turn off :( Not really had any odd sensations tho?

confuddledDOTcom · 29/05/2011 16:59

Hi ladies sorry I've not been on since but had no credit until this morning.

I'm still hanging on. 1 cm dilated and a positive fibronectin test (it's a labour hormone, to simplify). I'm having regular tightenings but it's just irritable at the moment and not doing anything but really expecting things to change quickly. I was convinced earlier it was starting as I went so tight I could barely breathe and it was the most painful yet. After a couple of hours the pain stopped but still quite tight. Mum came and helped me have a bath which has made me feel a lot better, even if it's not done much for the bump. Somehow I don't see them releasing me anytime soon!

fallingandlaughing · 29/05/2011 20:49

No date yet... just seeing how things are at weekly appts and will keep going until they lock me in and induce me. Am hoping I will make it to 38 weeks but just don't know.

Sex... yes, still doing it but less so - once a week or so (though twice last week). The bump does go firm but not uncomfortable. Will be nice to be able to do it face to face again one day! Asked DP a few weeks ago if the bump was off-putting and he said tbh the idea of it seems weird, but not weird enough to put him off! We just work round it

Take care confuddled and everyone else.

buttonmoon78 · 29/05/2011 20:51

Ooh - things are on the way then! Good luck confuddled. I'll be thinking of you both til I hear all is well. Best wishes coming your way.

Feeling a little better today - hoping tomorrow to feel a bit more normal!

OP posts:
Fraochsmum · 29/05/2011 21:47

All the very best confuddled!
I too have had very strong movements from when they started with this one inbetweener, so much so that I describe them as 'vicious'! DD was very gentle in her kicks and I really missed them when I had her, but will actually be quite glad when this one is on the outside - it honestly feels like s/he's getting down at the disco in there! I'm also amazed at how often it goes on as I thought there would be far more sleep time involved. Last night I was at a music festival and monkey boogied all night (7pm-1am) and still kicked hell out of me in bed.
jimmy I too felt hungover today, it really can happen without alcohol. I was exhausted after last night so went for a nap but woke up feeling horrendous. Went to a friends for dinner and was mortified to only be able to manage some mash and green beans Blush
On the sex issue, I have had a total lack of libido this time round - not good as DH seems to find me v attractive when pg :( and yes, I do find it quite uncomfy.
Think I shall have to go to bed soon, Fraoch is producing some gawdawful smells and making me feel sick again...
Here's to another week down!

confuddledDOTcom · 30/05/2011 04:49

I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself at the moment. The pain is getting worse by the day and my tolerance of it is going, even taking two co-dydramol every four hours hardly touches it. I'm getting worried about how I'll handle it if it carries on getting worse without being effective enough to bring on labour.

Joining in the sex conversation. I'd happily keep going but he finds my pain off putting - inconsiderate man! I've got quite a high sex drive anyway but I'm silly in pregnancy and this is the first time he's turned me down. He just laughs when I threaten to go elsewhere - I think he thinks I wouldn't manage it if I tried. This paragraph was brought to you by the emoticons BlushConfusedSadShock and Grin
