I'm not going to do the stats as it took up so much of every page! Welcome, everyone!

nicolamumof3 · 12/07/2011 19:58

yep i think its because i can feel the head now pressing down its reminding me of whats to come!!!

I can't help my love/hate relationship with the ironing unfortunately i am a bit 'ocd' about the clothes particularly the kids i even iron vests and pj's and ironed the baby's muslins! Blush

Glad you are enjoying new car button. Dh's is currently stuck at least 10miles away and we are waiting to hear what its going to cost to fix so may be off the road for awhile.

buttonmoon78 · 12/07/2011 20:01

Oh dear. I hope it's not too expensive.

I know what you mean about baby pressing down. The pain in my groin has been increasing each hour and I can only think it's because baby is getting further and further down in my pelvis.

As for the ironing - I wash my hands of you. You are a lost cause Wink

I must get up I have ds3's presents to wrap. my baby is four tomorrow Sad

buttonmoon78 · 12/07/2011 20:27

My baby was 4 in March. It seems like such a milestone and I'm not sure why! Still, we'll both soon have lovely new babies to smother love Smile

Well I am delighted to be able to report that our baby girl now has a name Rose Mairi. Unfortunately we had to go back into hospital on Saturday as she had lost too much weight and was refusing to feed. She had to have a tube feed to get some emergency calories into her and we had to watch lots of blood tests and her having a thing put in her hand and everything. Thankfully she has come round and is now feeding well and we came home this morning. It is so lovely to have her at home, although I am panicking every time it is more than 4 hours between feeds. Fingers crossed she'll keep going with her feeding and we won't have any more panics.

Sorry I'm not catching up on anybody else's news just now, I need to get back to staring at my adorable daughter. Hope everyone's well and there are more new mummies.

buttonmoon78 · 12/07/2011 21:43

Utterly understandable highheels. It is a new mum's most important job Smile Beautiful name. Sorry you've had a few stumbles this w/e but hopefully things will settle down now.

Burning? Crowning? Knowing what's coming? Right that's it I'm covering my eyes on here now Grin

Ignorance is bliss [cue nervous slightly manic laughter].......

buttonmoon78 · 12/07/2011 21:54

That's it Jimmy. Keep those fingers in your ears - lalalalala!

You'll learn soon enough. Mwah hah hah Grin

nicolamumof3 · 12/07/2011 22:05

Yes Jimmy don't listen to us!! What do we know??! Grin

oh highheels sorry to hear about that, hoping she's on the right track now. Beautiful name xxx

cara2244 · 12/07/2011 22:29

Ouch...crowning and transition were definitely the painful bits of this labour! The contractions were a walk in the park in comparison!
Highheels, I had to stay in for a week with Hannah to monitor weight gain - she had so many blood tests for jaundice that I lost count, including the hand one. it is scary but once the feeding is sorted its so much easier. She's above birth weight now at two weeks old. keep feeding!

SpannerPants · 13/07/2011 01:42

I think something may be happening - woke up at 12.20 with tummyache which has turned into irregular contractions lasting 30-40 seconds and around 5 mins apart. They're definitely getting more intense and painful and I can't get comfortable :( I've had paracetamol, put the TENS on and have been pacing around the house for the last hour but they're still coming so I don't think it's Braxton Hicks! I guess time will tell.

nicolamumof3 · 13/07/2011 07:33

Thats good Spanner, how you doing now, try and rest if you can.

JimmyChoo17 · 13/07/2011 08:06

Is it safe to come out now? Shock I know that u r all making it up and it just smarts a little hee hee!

Have any of you managed to bring on labour before? Eg with activity, curry, sex etc? If so did it take long to start it off?

Mind you why anyone would want to start labour off with curry is beyond me.....isn't there a good chance you'll all meet up with that curry again during labour? Blush I love curry but daren't eat any now for that very reason!

Badgerwife · 13/07/2011 08:13

Jimmy, re curry, that's what the midwives at my antenatal class said when we asked - or rather, the look of utter horror on their faces at the thought of having to deal with yet another curry poo. I can't blame them!

nicolamumof3 · 13/07/2011 08:34

I don't think anything works, they come out when they want to and are ready. end of!!

DS1 8 days late
DS2 3 days early
DS3 6 days late

am now 39+4

DS3's birthday now, he was born about this time after getting to hospital about an hour before, was only delayed as they offered me epidural, as i looked 'shattered' and could 'have a little sleep, before pushing this baby out!' Think i must have been almost fully dilated when i got there, as they could see the baby's head. It was a huge effort to get me into the car, was almost an impromptu home birth due to my desire to stay at home as long as poss!!

notnearlyasblondasiwas · 13/07/2011 09:04

Hi ladies, am reading butnot posting as laptop screen is broken. Am on phone so this is short! Hope things are happening spanner! Am due today and not even a sniff of a contraction! Am quite grump about it! DD was 7 days late, so am not holding my breath! Sending birthvibes to all still waiting with me!

Eglu · 13/07/2011 10:26

Jimmy We got a Scenic when we had DS1 and I hated it, wasn't ready for a mumsy car. We've had other cars inbetween, but 8 years later and I'm happy to have a mumsy car. Mine is pretty good on fuel as it is a diesel.

good luck Highheels

hefner · 13/07/2011 11:11

Lovely name highheels, I'm glad she is home again and hope the feeding goes well.

Good luck Spanner!

I think my baby has finally started to engage a bit. I've been doing as much walking as I can to encourage it to move down, getting very excited now. Jimmy I think I'm joining you in denial about the pain, definitely focussing on meeting the baby and glossing over the bit in between!

Pesha · 13/07/2011 14:08

Hey all, have been reading regularly on my phone but not got round to posting. Have to say I really don't like the mn iPhone app and am generally so pissed off with it by time I've caught I can't be bothered to post!

I agree that transition and crowning were pretty damn bad, I felt much too aware of everything and think I might have preferred to have some drugs in my system sp it was all a bit more hazy!!

Things not going too well here. Baby (who is named Jasper by the way!!) was weighed sat at 6 days and had dropped to 3.7kg and today at 10 days is 3.68 which is only 8g off having lost 10% so mw coming again tomorrow to weigh him. She did reassure me though that thongs have changed and they will do everything they can to help me to continue bfing if that's what I want (which it is) and will not try and push me to give formula which is all they did in way of help and support with ds2. And I think jasper has thrush which could well be part of the problem. I think I may also have thrush and am pretty certain I have mastitis too as very red, sore hard breast and, almost immediately the mw left I started to feel really achey and now have a temperature. And a banging headache. Very glad dp is taking both weeks of paternity leave, just hope I'm all recovered by time he goes back to work next week.

nicolamumof3 · 13/07/2011 14:12

oh pesha, sorry to hear that. Love ds's name btw Smile and fantastic you have such supportive mw. Get yourself to bed and contact docs if you need to mastitis is truly horrible x

MissLolita · 13/07/2011 14:19

Pesha, so sorry to hear that - great name though! xx

buttonmoon78 · 13/07/2011 14:35

Pesha sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish. I had a sinus infection when ds was 7days old and we both ended up with thrush from the antibs. So really feel for you, though I can honestly say I've never had mastitis. Things will get better soon.

BTW, love the name - I know Jasper in RL - lovely fella!

Atticus Edward Samuel was born on Monday at 9:35am weighing 8lbs 12oz via elcs. Unfortunately immediately afterwards the surgeon realised i had placenta accreta and the placenta could not be delivered. It was sheared off and 4 consultants operated for an hour and a half with my uterus outside my body to stem the blood. I was conscious and was told an immediate hysterectomy was likely. I lost 2.2litres of blood and had a blood transfusion. The anaesthetists pumped me full of diamorphine and I was very very sick. All ended well with uterus intact and me bfing LO in recovery room after 2 hours in OR.

Now discharged and all well at home. Atticus is perfect.

cara2244 · 13/07/2011 20:09

Pesha Congrats!! Didn't know you'd popped too!! HAnnah lost 12% of her birth weight after three days, but even tho I was in hospital there was no pressure to formula feed and they really supported me to breast feed. I did a feeding chart to monitor and woke her up if She went more than three hours. At ten days she was 10g below birth weight, just from breast milk. Check her latching too. Hope the mastitis gets better too.

I can't believe the time has gone so quickly. It seems like only yesterday we were comparing morning sickness!!

cara2244 · 13/07/2011 20:11

Cross post congratulations stangirl!!!
Glad to hear you're ok now. Enjoy the early days.
