Want2bSupermum · 08/07/2011 12:27

Hey guys - typing before I start feed. Thanks for the messages. I love the name we put together for her because both names work in the UK, Denmark and the US.

hefner Anna went down into my pelvis at wk 36 but came back up. Induced labour wasn't going to work. Her head got stuck and you can still see the graze on her forehead from my pelvis.

The hospital here is amazing but it is a little annoying that they don't let me know what schedule they are going to. They just took Anna away for a bath when I was going to start feeding her. It means now that I need to get her next feed in ASAP. Anyway, I hope they don't send me home tomorrow. I have lots of demonstrations to attend and I have only just got up onto my feet. The nurse thinks my milk will come in today. It would be great to get feeding properly established here. Last night was so painful that both Anna and I were in screaming with tears rolling down our faces.

Want2bSupermum · 08/07/2011 12:32

hefner I would be more worried that you face going through hours of labour to only end up with a CS in any case. I am so sore from hour and hours of labour and then sore from the CS too. I would have preferred to have gone for a scheduled CS rather than go through what I went through.

Also, they had me on the high dose of pictocin which resulted in very strong contractions. The epidural wasn't strong enough and I ended up needing a top up. My skin is still itching two days later from the pain medication they gave me. On top of that they gave me additional pain medication for the CS. It can't be good to have so much medicine go through you.

highheelsandequations · 08/07/2011 12:38

congrats want2b

minicorrect it was quick!! I got out of bed at 1.30 am as I decided it hurt too much to try and get any more rest. Went and woke DP at 2.30 am as was throwing up and in pain. Phoned the hospital about 3 am and told them I'd try to stay home a little longer as was terrified of being told I was only 1 cm or something. About half an hour later I was losing lots of show along with my waters, throwing up and ending up crawling on the floor with the contractions so told DP to phone back and say I was coming in. We left the house at 4, DP was convinced they'd send us straight home when we got there. Spent about 45 mins on the monitors when we arrived, getting more and more uncomfortable, midwives thought contractions weren't long enough. After coming off the monitors got my first examination and was very shocked (but relieved) to be told I was 8cm. The midwives went to start filling the pool, I had another very sore 10 mins then went along to the birth pool room. Got in the pool whilst it was still filling (this was about 6am) and immediately felt some relief. Midwives checked baby's heart and got me set up and then went off for a few minutes. The minute they left I felt the need to push and sent DP to get them quick. Midwives arrived back and told me to just go with what my body felt like doing. 28 minutes of pushing later our baby girl arrived. It then took just over an hour to deliver the placenta, most frustrating bit after everything else went so smoothly!

So we are now home, but having some problems establishing feeding. Baby is sleepy all the time so having to fight with her to wake up to try and get her to feed. MW came out this morning and coming back later and we have strict instructions to do nothing today except try to get her feeding sorted.

Sorry for me me me post, hope everyone else is doing well and the rest of our LOs will be shortly making their arrivals.

MissLolita · 08/07/2011 12:46

Hi everyone, congratulations on all the new arrivals!!

Just back from midwife who delivered the rather alarming news that my bump feels different from Monday when I was 4/5ths palp and she can't tell where the head is! This either means the head is right down and therefore fully engaged or that somehow the baby has turned in the last 3 days and is now breach! Worryingly she (the baby) has been way more active than normal in the last couple of days and I've been feeling kicks and nudges in places I've not felt before; also (and apologies if this is way to much information) I haven't been so deperate to pee every 5 minutes.....I'm going for an emergency scan this afternoon... My midwife said that as I'm 40+1 today she thought it woudl be unlikely that anyone would want to try to turn the baby. Feeling a bit shell-shocked...!

nicolamumof3 · 08/07/2011 13:25

firstly huge congrats want 2b! Beautiful name i love it!!

Button huge, huge hugs, im virtually holding your hand through this its horrible isn't it.

Last night my bump was so hard and painful i couldn't sleep i started to feel sick and had pains throughout my bump was dizzy head spinning all in all awful. DH got up to get ready for work at 6.30 took one look at me as I staggered down the stairs called work and sent me back to bed.

I don't feel right at all. Im wondering if start of something or just my body had enought of it all??

Just done huge 'to do' list for weekend and next couple of weeks as its so busy with luka's party and bday so dh knows whats what.

hefner · 08/07/2011 13:30

Glad to hear you're home highheels hope your little girl gets the hang of feeding soon.

Good luck with the scan MissL, hopefully she's still head down but being fully engaged has meant she's got room to kick all over the place?

Sounds like you had a tough birth want2b, glad they got Anna out safely in the end. Like you say, I am concerned that labour won't be effective and I'll end up with a CS but I'm thinking positive and hoping that the baby will move down at some point and make things easier for me!

buttonmoon78 · 08/07/2011 13:55

Good luck MissL. If you want to have evc then it can be done at any point, even in labour provided your waters are intact. So don't panic yet! And hopefully baby will be just very very engaged.

Nic thanks for being so lovely. I don't like whinging in RL. Everybody knows me as a coper so I always just smile and say fine. I don't feel too clever either - all this heartburn is giving me sicky burps all the time, my ankles look like elephant legs, my head is banging and I'm still getting v painful BH. I know the headache is because I did waaaay too much crying yesterday but knowing that doesn't make it go away!

highheels sounds like short but intense! I hope you get feeding sorted soon. Take it easy and it will come.

want2b you take it easy too. I think that's the worst bit about emcs - you're already knackered after labour! You know, she's your baby though - if you want to feed her, feed her. That's a lot more important than a bath.

Give all those new babies lots of lovely snuggly hugs. I'm too jealous for words!

nicolamumof3 · 08/07/2011 17:58

terrible heartburn here today, even water making it worse!!

MissLolita · 08/07/2011 18:33

Hi everyone, it sounds like we are all in the wars a bit!
I had a presentation scan this afternoon and it transpires that BabyL has moved back up - she is still head down but no longer engaged. The midwife just said she had obviously changed her mind :) Hefner sounds like our babies have the same thoughts!

buttonmoon78 · 08/07/2011 18:59

DH left site early this afternoon. Expecting him home anytime now, so off out for a cheap date nigth at the local Harvester. I love it there - loads of salad and bottomless drinks. I always take full advantage - then end up weeing all night!

Feeling a bit more chipper generally tonight. I think I just need a proper blow out whinge every now and again then I'm ok again.

Also, to be perfectly honest, having dh home is a wonderful mood enhancer. I'll be sick of him by tomorrow am but at least I don't have to cope with everything on my own Grin

isitreallythattime · 08/07/2011 20:19

Hi all, just checking in to let you know I too am playing the waiting game.

Has anyone been getting really sore stingy pains in their ladies parts? Its the kind of sting that you get when you have cistitus but last longer and is you stand up straight. Bad night for me last night. Couldnt sleep to start with, partner snoring, ds waking up, and then really bad pains in bum and thighs.

Wish my Tuesday MW visit would hurry and come so that they can feel where baby is and what position its in. Still very worried about it being OP.

For those that have had babes, can you describe what you were feeling on the day you went into labour and also if there were any of the 'non standard' signs you were going to go into labour. I know none of us 'know' when it will happen, but I just want to get an idea whether im near or if ill go past mw visit.

Hope you all have a bterr nights sleep tonight. Maybe some painkillers for those niggles would be sensible!!??

JimmyChoo17 · 08/07/2011 20:48

isitreallyme yep I've had similar not constant but the odd time, very random or if it feels like baby stretching out. Is your baby engaged I don't think mine is. I also posted a question further up I think on this thread about non standard signs. I have had the odd back twinges and mild period like cramps but not led to anything yet! I'm hoping baby stays put and he/she is welcome to arrive on due date (16th) not sure baby will listen mind Grin

JimmyChoo17 · 08/07/2011 20:50

Ooo meant to say...put hypno therapy cd on iPod and listened to before bed (should really listen to in awake state) but man alive did I have a fabulous nights sleep last night. Didn't even get up to wee!

Scottygirl10 · 08/07/2011 20:59

Had sweep today, was informed cervix is closed and so prob won't make a difference. Beyond upset about this. I've been walking every night, bouncing on birth ball, raspberry leaf tea...blah blah was hoping to be a wee half centimeter at least so to be told I'm tightly shut, urgh :(. And did I take this information like a reasonable adult? No. I came home got into bed and cried my eyes out. Induction booked for a week today.

nicolamumof3 · 08/07/2011 21:30

yes im getting that sharp pain too, when sitting and def when standing up. MW thinks i may have uti should hear from docs if so next week.

Unfortunately scotty there is nothing you can do bar medical induction (and even that doesn't always work) babies only come when they are ready. the thought that if i was left to 42 w meaning another 3w is awful tho, so totally know where you're coming from.

JimmyChoo17 · 08/07/2011 21:44

I best get myself to drs then, don't have any other symptoms of UTI yet mind. Is it ok to leave until Monday, Is it dangerous at all for baby to have UTI? have they put u on antibiotics nicola? How r u bearing up? Feel ok just less bendy! Had to wear socks today....that must have been amusing seeing me attempt that! Moving in and out of bath is quite a sight.

Liking that weather has been much cooler tho.

buttonmoon78 · 09/07/2011 09:10

Scotty don't lose heart. Yes - babies only come when they're ready, but everything can change in 24hrs! You never know what's going to happen.

Jimmy DH really helped last night. On my 4th trip to the loo at 2.37 he mumbled 'it'd be easier to raise the Titanic than get you out of bed' which was charming Hmm

I had a terrible night last night. Lovely meal with dh, came home and had a nice shower (emptied hot tank on the small of my back) went to bed at 10.30. I was still awake at 11.30 having BH every 6-7 mins, lasting 3-4 mins each time. The pain in my back was horrible. And baby was kick boxing its way out of my side onto the mattress whichever way I lay. Normally I'd just put my lamp on to read but I didn't want to disturb dh so I went and watched tv and knitted. Went back to bed at 12.30, straight to sleep but as already mentioned, on the loo roughly every 30 mins thereafter! I did manage a solid chunk between 3 & 6 but I've woken up this morning feeling like I've been running a marathon all night.

DH (having felt kick boxing antics) says we should call it Jackie. As in Chan. Grin. I'm hoping he'll take ds out for a bit this afternoon so I can get some kip back.

Button I would have kicked him...by "accident" of course when I got back in [Grin] cheeky sod ha ha!

Eglu · 09/07/2011 15:24

Hi all, sending major labour vibes everyones way, since I don't have to suffer being pg any more.

Reading everyones moans and groans, it is amazing how quickly you forget how awful you felt when pg.

I'm proud of myself today as I MANAGED TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE FOR 9AM TO TAKE THE BOYS TO THEIR SWIMMING LESSONS. Oop sorry for caps, doing this one handed while feeding DD.

buttonmoon78 · 09/07/2011 16:13

I think that deserves to be in capitals anyway!

SpannerPants · 09/07/2011 17:18

Well done Eglu :)

Jimmy - I downloaded iHypnobirth for my iphone but everytime I listen to it I'm asleep within 10 minutes. Apparently it still goes in even if you're asleep!

Hope you managed to get your nap Button

my DP got called into work at 3am (he's an IT type) so when he got back at 4 we had breakfast together and went back to bed which was nice, since I'm usually awake and hungry at that time anyway. Going to have a BBQ later if the weather holds - I'm looking forward to some nice sausages and some really sticky fried onions, and possibly a small glass of wine Grin

Hefner and MissLolita I'm in a similar position to you in that the baby hasn't engaged yet, he's head down but 4/5 palpable still. My midwife didn't seem overly concerned at my last appointment but as time goes on it's worrying me more - I have quite a small frame (size 3 feet!) and DP and I have larger than average heads. Guess I'll have to see what he's doing on Wednesday at my next appointment.

scarthy1975 · 09/07/2011 17:27

Could anyone answer a question for me - should you ring the hospital to advise them that you are going in as you are in labour? I don't think I did that first time round but after reading a few birth stories most women did!

nicolamumof3 · 09/07/2011 17:55

yes i've always rung and told them how long contractions are how far apart etc. Unless you haven't time of course/?!

I had a good night last night, i seem to alternate between good and bad, but still manged to doze off on sofa lately. Don't feel as if baby coming at all atm, which is good, have luka's party tomorrow, then sports day monday, then luka's bday on wednesday. So all good for her to stay tucked inside for a few days! Then she's welcome to come out before the end of term please.

JimmyChoo17 · 09/07/2011 17:56

scarthy I have been told to ring ahead if possible. Also I need to let them know anyway if using a pool.

JimmyChoo17 · 09/07/2011 18:55

Omg!!! I had skyplussed baby hospital....why am I even watching it....talk about heartbreaking!
