I'm not going to do the stats as it took up so much of every page! Welcome, everyone!

Congratulations Shaz! Minicorrect and Purple I have added you to FB - sorry about the slight delay, I dropped my iphone onto the road last Sunday and they don't bounce! It's being repaired at the moment but I had no idea how reliant I was on it for things like FB, eBay etc!

On a separate exciting note I managed to get a birthpool in a box with everything/all the extras needed for £60 (whole kit new would have been £200) which I was pretty chuffed about. I need a new liner but have everything else now if I decide to go the water route. Also, my TENS hire machine arrived this morning! I'm not collecting the pool until Wednesday so hopefully nothing will happen until then :)

Today should have been my wedding day. We postponed when I found out I was pregnant. Spending the day in here has been hard work. Didn't help that Mum came to see me with my sister, aunt and my brother's fiancee, and SIL2b spent the time talking to the others about her hen night and what they - the people there - are wearing. OH walked out but I was stuck there. It's not even like it's because I've had a baby because this was all planned last year and she wouldn't see it like that - my parents did her children's first few weeks :(

Then she was going on about how she wouldn't spend all this time in hospital she always discharges herself the next day because she considers her other children who are missing her. None of it was said to me all to the others.

I sat there sobbing with Mum and my aunt telling me it's ok she'll be out soon. Not one person - apart from OH who walked out because of it - realised what was actually upsetting me.

I've been trying to talk to him this evening because I had an idea to make up for postponing the wedding but he keeps having a go all the time.

Scottygirl10 · 26/06/2011 06:03

Oh confuddled how horrible for you. I feel people are missing the point however, ie you've had this beautiful little girl who right now just needs her mum to be with her, not miles away from her. I alwayg think when people say things like your sil2b said its to do with their own jealousy and insects

Scottygirl10 · 26/06/2011 06:11

Oops lol posted mid rant...insecurities not insects! And nothing will be more special than when you are a complete family at your wedding, little one and all fighting fit and healthy. Sorry this special time is so hard for you just now. Congrats to you shaz, what a good weight for 2 half weeks early! I have 10 days till my due date and I'm climbing the walls. Pineapple, sex, hot curry (chicken tikka masala as I'm a huge wimp, lol ) long walks, birthing ball sitting...:( not a happy bunny x

JimmyChoo17 · 26/06/2011 08:14

Whoo hoo! Not sure what Andreas mn name is but....

Well done Andrea and her hubby!

JimmyChoo17 · 26/06/2011 08:18

It's eglu in at number 3!

JimmyChoo17 · 26/06/2011 08:27

She was due 5th July and hoping for an early arrival (hb too i think had planned) to join her brood of 2 boys and she got it!

Congratulations to shaz by the way too.

I'm off for raspberry leaf tea....jealous that you girls have become June mummies :-)

Twit · 26/06/2011 18:39

That's great news about Eglu (and to shaz as well Smile )
Am lying bump out under our ceiling fan on the bed spraying waterover my feet and ankles, face and bump today and drinking lots of iced water. At least we don't have to worry about keeping our babies the right temperature...
confuddled I know what you mean about being better able to care for your dd at home, there aren't other people's rules and it's more relaxed.
I agree with your advice about birth plans, although I have always had them as something to aim for (not having had any of your issues etc) so if something unexpected happens I wouldn't be disappointed (ie me transferring in or deciding I want an epidural that type of thing NOT the treatment you had inflicted upon you.)

I am looking forwards to my cool shower in a bit, am saving myself for that treat though in the hope I manage to sleep a bit after.

JimmyChoo17 · 26/06/2011 19:07

Phew...today is really hot. Had a few bh today just can't cool down, showers only work for a awhile and have munched my way thru the ice box :)

Badgerwife · 26/06/2011 19:50

Yay to Eglu and Shaz!

Pesha · 26/06/2011 22:28

Anyone know if I can have gaviscon while fasting for my GTT tomorrow morning? Not sure I can make it through the night without!

buttonmoon78 · 27/06/2011 05:49

Whoop whoop for Eglu!

Confuddled I'm sorry life is so pants for you right now. I'd have been tempted to get mother to say enough now, C needs to rest for the child in hospital. And I guess your OH has just had it up to here too. This too will pass.

I'm having lots and lots and lots of really strong BH, feeling all of it in my back so they're really painful. Still, managed a 2 hour nap yesterday afternoon and fell asleep in the bath on Sat night! And dh left for London with the words 'right, you are to go to bed for a minimum of an hour every afternoon this week. And if you don't I'll be really cross' Grin. He's still annoying the hell out of me but that was nice!

Got a consultant's appt on Wed with a positional scan. Will be setting date for either section or induction. I can't wait!

Morning all. The birth story.

I lay in bed on Sunday night with what I thought were strong BH. I really should know by the third what labour is. Eventually got up at about 12.30 am and called labour ward. They said mw was coming but it was not a name I recognised so I knew she was not in my areas and could be a while. Hlaf an hour later still no mw and I told dh I would need to push soon. He called 999 and as soon as he was talking to the operator I needed to push. It was quite scary having nobody there and I really struggled to keep calm through the contractions. It was also bloody painful with no gas and air or anything.

The 999 operator was great and kept dh calm and told him what to do, it really helped him. Lily Annabel was born at 1.11 am weighing 8lb 1oz and the midwife arrived at 1.13 am, followed shortly by the ambulance.

Placenta took another 45 mins to arrive despite the syntometrine injection. I was then dispatched off to hospital in the ambulance as I had a 3rd degree tear from the speed of the birth. I had one with DS1 so not too surprised.

MWs were saying it was a shame that I delivered a baby with no pain relief and end up in theatre with a spinal block. I had adrenalin shakes for about 4hrs afterwards as it was so quick.

The hospital were great and gave ma private room so dh could stay for a while. They also did all the newborn checks early on so that I could get home asap.

We got home at 2pm yesterday and have had a pretty good first night.

Note for dh though is to listen when I tell him he will end up delivering our baby. Grin

And one handed typing while bfing is hard. :)

sues1974 · 27/06/2011 10:04

Congratulations shaz and eglu.
Ive got my pre op assessment this afternoon, typical when its so nice im going to be suck in a hot hosptial waiting room, ah well needs must n all that.
Couldnt sleep last night cos of the heat so looking forward to cooler weather tomorrow - so glad im not in hospital at the moment although am surprised that my ankles have been less swollen this time round than with my first who was a winter baby!
Hope wednesday goes well Buttonmoon xx

scarthy1975 · 27/06/2011 10:14

Great story eglu - can't imagine my DH delivering our baby but I suppose when you have no choice!

twit good luck and I hope baby is on its way for you.

buttonmoon78 · 27/06/2011 10:28

Wow eglu! That's amazing. A bit of a shame you ended up in hospital, but hey ho, you can't have it every which way Wink

Is this July baby no 3 or 4 then? I've lost count Blush

I keep going to the fridge pretending to myself that it's because I'm hungry/thirsty. Not at all. Just hot. In fact, I'm sitting here in a vest top, pants, tubigrip and serola. V glam Grin

My friend was telling me last night Eglu how girls just won't wait, after three boys maybe my little missy will come early?

Am boiling here, my bra is tight and uncomfy i've got linen shorts on and vest and still too hot. Bring on the rain later i say! Taking the boys to outside swim pool after school which should be nice.

Twit hope all going ok??

MissLolita · 27/06/2011 11:09

Yay for Twit! How exciting! :)

cara2244 · 27/06/2011 11:36

Eglu congratulations!

Just a quick one from me...baby has decided she wants to be June not July. My waters broke yesterday at 36+3 so I'm now in hospital. Gutted and there was lots of crying from me last night and this morning but I am kind of resigned to the hospital/medical birth now. It's all a bit alien after a homebirth with no 1. I shouldn't have cleaned the kitchen floor on Saturday and ordering the last essentials on babiesrus was a mistake too lol! Please send your positive hospital vibes!

HOpe everyone else is doing ok. Anyone else close? Has twit had hers? Have fallen behind.

Good luck Twit and Cara. It is not hot here in Scotland. I would be quite happy for the weather to improve now baby is here.
