Pesha · 24/06/2011 19:26

Button - I did google Blush But I only looked at one page from RCOG site which i think was an advice sheet thingumy for people at risk of cord prolapse and I actually found it quite reassuring. It had the advice you just gave about sticking bum in the air while waiting for ambulance and some stuff about what they would do. I feel much happier knowing the possible scenarios than I would if I found myself in that situation unexpectedly iyswim, knowing that an EMCS is an albeit very slim possibility will hopefully make it easier for me and also dp to deal with if it does happen than if it was sprung on me out the blue. I avoided reading too much about risks to baby, obviously I know they are there but that I don't need to read it in detail.

So I am having pains again but not doing anything. How painful does it have to be for me to go in?? Confused The MW said 'if they are painful' which they are and they are more than just slightly painful BH but, well, they have been most evenings or at least once every 2 or 3 evenings. But then how do I ever know whats just a false start and what is actually going to turn into the real thing when they need me to be in hospital from the word go. I think I just need to go in don't I? Otherwise the first clue its proper labour could be waters going (it was last time) which is exactly what i need to try and avoid happening at home. FFS this is going to be a pita!!!

confuddledDOTcom · 24/06/2011 19:48

No it was the except me like I'm not regular or whatever it was lol Wink

Congratulations dyer! Glad I've got some company at last Grin

I've had some news on going home, today. I've posted in the Facebook group if someone can save me rewriting it. Feeling a little fed up because I've been here 4 weeks and the end isn't in sight.

The supervisor of midwives who helped me plan my VBAC came to see me today. I've been trying to get her since the day I went into labour but she didn't even know I'd had her! The ward clerk came to talk to me earlier so I asked if she could call her for me. I told her how the birth went and in general she didn't pass comment but a few things she picked up on. She wasn't happy baby had been given to me with the words "here he is" so she's going to read my file and when I'm discharged she'll arrange for us all to go in and see her to debrief and start complaints. I didn't even have to tell her how bad I've been since the stirrups she just knew why it's a bad idea. She's spoken to the ward and said I must be woken in the morning for my painkillers because I'm spending whole days in pain for missing that first one. I've always said the just about touch the sides, I now know it's the middle it touches and it's leaving the sides!

Twit · 24/06/2011 19:49

Right then I'm back on the computer. pesha golly I really feel for you, I really hope you don't need to follow button's advice.
want2be thanks, I do drink alot but maybe I should up it a bit? I went to hospital with 160/105 and really don't want a repeat as it was pretty scary. On the plus side I saw the maternity ward for the first time and it seems to be quite nice, 4 to a room each with it's own 'en-suite' facilities, t.v. mobile usage allowed.... makes me wonder....I'm sorry about your exam - and how mean not to let you under the circumstances have a little drink and snack.
I have never had any signs with any of my labours, they have all started at about 3-4 am, then stopped before kicking off. No-one seems to believe that I have no idea though including DH.
Eglu my MW said we could talk about a sweep at my next appointment too! I will be 39 on the nose (she's coming to check my BP)
Babytwit is measuring at about 7lb15 at 38+2 so sooner rather than later would be great although not as scary as measuring was indicating. (41 weeks at 38+1)
I'm hoping to get a back rub and a decent night's sleep and a baby tonight, DH got chips which were nice and washed the bedlinen so I'm all showered and clean and almost ready for sleep.
I hope all is well with everyone today and good luck for the weekend if it is hot.

Twit · 24/06/2011 20:05

cross posts sorry!
pesha I don't know, it's hard. Maybe err on the side of caution? Phone them and explain what you're feeling? I'm sorry I can't be af much use. Will be thinking of you with positive vibes.
confuddled as I'm not on the Fb group I don't know much of what has been going on (if you've been posting there that is) but from what I can gather you have been treated appallingly. I'm so sorry you have had to suffer at the hands of these people, and am glad you seem to have found some real support at the hospital at last. You've been so helpful and supportive of all of us and sending positive thoughts your way seems so small, almost useless a thing in return, but I will do so anyway. And I am sending you get home soon vibes, you were hoping it might have been today weren't you? I'm sorry that didn't work out.
And how could you be anything but part of the furniture on these threads? Wink

Eglu · 24/06/2011 20:38

Confuddleds messages pasted from FB group

Can someone c&p this for me?

"Shh someone mentioned the H word! See you when I get H Grin Confuddled"
Darn spoke to loudly :( because this is a women's hospital children are under the local children's hospital. Whilst the women's is happy to let us go the children's isn't because they're concerned about her liver function and clotting (extr...a concern because of my thrombophilia) so she needs more blood tests and a liver scan. :( they're waiting for the paediatric liver specialist to decide if she can be an out patient or needs to be an in patient.

cara2244 · 24/06/2011 20:58

Twit, remind me, are you a quick labour person? I had loads of bh last time from 20 weeks on, never realised at the time what it was and just thought the hard belly thing was a part of pregnancy! This time I realise that they are bh's! I do wonder if there is a connection with quick labours. I feel every night like my body is practicing for labour aroud 10pm onwards with strong bh's and a 'this baby is trying to push its way out' feeling. It didn't happen when I stayed at my mum's the other night.

confuddledDOTcom · 24/06/2011 21:25

I haven't posted a lot about the birth because the boring version is I did it all myself with g&a and no interventions necessary and I'd rather give you all that version whilst a. I'm in hospital and b. you're all still pregnant so I don't want to worry you.

The boring version is true but the drs were flapping around me because they didn't want me to do it naturally and they did things they shouldn't
have like stirrups.

Thank you Twit and Eglu. I wish I could post more often and answer more people but I'm texting so it's hard to keep up and there's my allowance too which I already maxed out once and had to beg O2 to give me a new bolt on so I could keep using WAP.

confuddledDOTcom · 24/06/2011 21:48

Cara, you're right. There is often a connection between lots of BH and quick labour. Two reasons - hormone level or that it's slow labour that's actually being effective.

purpleplump · 24/06/2011 22:10

Just wondering if anyone knows why this thread disappeared from the "I'm on" option? Does it disappear after not speaking for so long, or did someone decide to boot me off? I have been reading forum but shy in responding really. Maybe this post will put this thread back on my list.
Oh and how do I join the FB group?

purpleplump · 24/06/2011 22:11

That last post sounded rather accusatory sorry not the intent! x

purpleplump · 24/06/2011 22:16

Oh and sorry to interrupt the conversation, good god im so rude today not intentional though
Hope your all okay x

JimmyChoo17 · 24/06/2011 22:30

Anyone else close to murdering their hubby? I'm thinking jimmy took him out by smothering him in the living room with her bump as her weapon of choice....Clue styley....

No real reason just he keeps rating. This is normal hubby behaviour but tonight I might just flip.

Pregnancy. A weird time.....

JimmyChoo17 · 24/06/2011 22:32

Wtf.... Stupid predictive text...

Cluedo styley and not rating...farting!!!!

Purple....if u don't post for awhile u will lose the thread but u can set your profile to keep threads in your " I'm on" link.

HighFibreDiet · 25/06/2011 04:43

hi everyone, hope it works out for you Pesha. Isn't it crazy how hospitals vary so much regarding this GD business? Also do try not to worry too much about the increased liquor volume. I had loads of extra scans with ds2 because the volume was slightly large at the 20 wk scan, and of course I was worried and it turned out there was nothing wrong with him.

Sorry to hear about your experiences at the hosp, confuddled. I spend a lot of time on Facebook, perhaps I should join the group, can someone send me a private mumsnet message with the link?

cara I agree with confuddled about the Braxton Hicks contractions. I think my hypnobirthing book even talks about it being the start of (slow) labour. I've always had loads and had three pretty quick labours, in terms of what they say is the 'active' bit, except for a long transition with ds3. I think that was due to a misaligned pelvis and him being quite big, so it took a while for him to rotate round even though my cervix was completely dilated. I have a pool this time so if it happens again I can relax rather than wondering why it's taking so much longer! Although sod's law this little girl will come out so speedily we don't have time to fill up the pool!

dyerlou what a great birth story. Grin

confuddledDOTcom · 25/06/2011 09:11

To join the group you need to PM whoever it was I put in charge of members but I'm exhausted and can't remember her ID...

Twit · 25/06/2011 09:53

confuddled dont worry about us we might miss you but we can wait til you get home and that is going to be very soon i can feel it in my waters Wink
jimmy i have wanted to do dh harm since i found out i was pg. this only grows as i lie awake in pain discomfort panic whichever and he sprawls snoring.
right we are hopefully off to next to buy pants and socks for everyone. oh the glamour.

SpannerPants · 25/06/2011 10:02

I think it's misslolita who is the other admin on the group confuddled.

I made it through the wedding and reception without any problem except being continously manhandled by people touching my bump - I should have made some fliers with the gestation, sex, where I'm planning to give birth, how long I'm taking for maternity leave etc on! I know they only meant well but I was so sick of saying the same thing over and over. And one guy (who noone knew who we think possibly just saw a party going on and thought he'd join in for the free champagne) told me he didn't realise I was pregnant, and that he thought I was just huge! Which made me very Shock Blush

I thought I was going into labour at 3am because I had 3 very intense contractions 15 mins apart which was scary, I walked around the house a bit and took some paracetamol and they eased off but I'm absolutely shattered today. And emotional - I seem to be crying at everything which is really annoying! I'm going to have a lazy day of catching up on the tv programs I recorded during the week and eating nice food (completely addicted to smoked salmon at the mo)

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

purpleplump · 25/06/2011 10:16

Haha Jimmy and Twit my DP is very lucky to still be in one piece, although bless him he's been a great support throughout my preganancy, he's all soppy and its so cute he just wants to hold his little girl!
(Although with the sleeping I get a bit annoyed when I'm tossing and turning and I look over and he's flat on his back spark out!! :))

confuddledDOTcom · 25/06/2011 13:06

Yes it's MissL thank you!

I've just read back what I wrote before and it sounds like she's going to follow it up based on the 'he' comment Blush I guess you know it's not what I meant!

Advice for you following my birth, write your birth plan. Research your options and make sure your birth partner knows what you do and don't want. Make it concise not pages, just bullet points and make two versions - natural birth and section - if you're planning a natural birth. Even if in the end you get dragged along by drs who want to do it their way being informed will reduce that risk but also give you come back if things don't go right - I don't mean that they weren't to plan but necessary, more you can't complain they didn't let you cut the cord or gave you the injection or whatever if you didn't let them know.

I hope so Twit. I doubt it'll be until next week because they're waiting for the liver specialist to decide if she can be in or out patient. Sounds easier in a way to keep her here as they'll do it all through this hospital unless she needed surgery as that's all they can't do here. A radiologist would come here to use the facilities here for her scan, blood and urine tests can be done here and sent over. I wish I had an answer to just going home, I could cope with the health issues at home as well if not better than here.

In different news. It's my wedding day today :(

MissLolita · 25/06/2011 14:02

Hello, I'm a FB admin - if you request to join and PM me with your real name I'll match the 2 together and make you a member
www.facebook.com/mobileprotection#!/home.php?sk=group_39358943912&ap=1 - I think this is the link but I get confused...

Confuddled, is it literally your wedding day?? :(

Want2bSupermum · 25/06/2011 15:54

My post didn't make it on last night as the servers went down just after
I hit post!

Twit The obn had me drinking ten 8oz glasses of water and has asked me to drink up to a gallon which is 16 8oz glasses of water. I has helped with the dizzy spells and swollen limbs. My feet and hands are still swollen but I can type and get my mens flip flops on.

purple If you click on 'watch' this thread you won't lose it. 'I'm On' goes after a couple of days of posting on the thread.

JimmyChoo17 · 25/06/2011 17:21

Weddin day?

minicorrect · 25/06/2011 19:18

Wow! Massive congratulations Dyerlou - sounds wonderful and just how we all hope it will be. Hope you're enjoying those precious first days with your bigger family!

Confuddled - so sorry you've been having such an awful time, but glad they sound like they're actually doing something about it now. Fingers crossed you get home soon and can start to get properly better - next week is almost here now! Not sure what you mean by wedding day - do you mean anniversary, or have you sneakily managed to get hitched while doing everything else!!?? Congratulations, either way!

button hope you're feeling better after your bad day on Thursday - you do sound like you're suffering at the moment. I seem to get lots of what feel like stomach upsets at the moment. Usually resolved with a touch of the runs (sorry TMI) in the middle of the night though, but sometimes the stomach cramps are just a bit too much. Hoping they ease off soon as another 5 weeks like this isn't going to be fun!

Have also had lots of insomnia - usually wake up when DD climbs into our bed and then can't sleep again - last night went from 3am until 6am tossing and turning. Very frustrating as I then spend the day tired and grumpy!

The good news though is that our kitchen is nearly done - we've done the base coat on the walls now and started the first proper coat, our appliances arrived yesterday and the cabinets and worktop arrive Wed am for the workman to fit over the rest of the week. After 6 months of planning all this I can't wait for it to be done. It is going to be amazing to actually have a nice kitchen to cook in!

One last thing - went (or should that be waddled) to the hairdressers on Thursday having laughed with DP over how pregnant I looked in what I was wearing, only to be asked by the girl who washed my hair and the hairdresser if I was going anywhere nice on holiday and did I have any children?! I really can't believe neither of them could see I was pregnant but both questions seemed really strange to ask a heavily pregnant woman! Perhaps they were on auto-pilot and not thinking!

Might contact MissL to join the FB group as I get on there more easily than here from my phone so will see you over there hopefully.

Hope you all enjoy the mini-heatwave we're getting tomorrow and don't find the heat too much - planning to hit the beach to make the most of it!

ShazGJ · 25/06/2011 20:07

Hi guys usually post on the pregnancy threads but have now found my way here. Just wanted to announce we have a beautiful baby boy called Kane, born 23/06 @ 1:24am. He was 2 1/2 weeks early, think I was the only one on here wanting him to go overdue due to impending house move! He weighs 7lb 6. Waters broke at 11am on 22/06, regular contractions started at about 7pm had a bath and used TENs and was 8 cm dilated by time got to hospital at 9pm. Tried gas and air but made me sick, so used just pethidine and TENs. First baby and have to say it was painful but well worth it for our beautiful baby boy.
