Anyone else got bad heartburn already? I feel like I've been suffering for weeks.

Our couch is such that it makes you almost lie down on it, so really making the effort to sit up straight after dinner and other meals. Find bolting my food at 'lunch' for work makes it bad and eating too much bread?

Milk and pepcid are my best friends.

Also sleep alludes me, and mad dreams. Have bought a pregnancy pillow. Can't wait for it to arrive.

PMA? First yoga class tonight. I hope I stay awake and get a great sleep afterwards.

cep · 21/06/2011 15:28

folic i haven't got heart burn but i find that i get uncomfortable with my bra on sometimes, inbetween my boobs just feels really weird, once i've taken my bra off it's feels fine. Sleep is being a nightmare, keep waking up i've just bought a dream genii and waiting for it to arrive as well, hoping the bit that goes between the legs helps with the spd/pgp (whatever it is i have) thing.

Is anyone else still getting really tired in the afternoon?

Folicacid · 21/06/2011 16:06

Cep I've bought a dreamgenii too! I'm really tired in afternoons, but the not sleeping is what i'm puttnig it down to. Also no coffees so obviously not getting my usual non pregnancy pick me ups.

H007 · 21/06/2011 16:23

Hey everyone waves haven't been around for a while as I had to take my students on a camping trip from John O'Groats to Land's End... OMG I am soooooooo tired, however all the bad symptoms seem to have gone now :) Slept in a tent on a mat the first night and it hurt my pelvis so bad that I just couldn't face it anymore so spent the rest of the 9 days sleeping across the front seats of the minibus.

Hope everyone is well!

MooseyMoo · 21/06/2011 16:44

Blimey H007 that sounds uncomfortable and hard work!

cep I get really tired in the afternoons. It seems to be worse every other day. Problem is I feel worse if I have a sleep as I seem to go into a really deep sleep.

Folic Have you tried gaviscon yet for your heartburn. I find that really good. Also Lovehearts Hmm. Mine is worse if I have fizzy drink which I do in the afternoons as I get bored of having soft drinks all day. As long as I sit up properly its not too bad.

stace Forgot to say I don't know how much weight I have put on as don't have scales but I definately have a bump.

Beginning the countdown to our holiday on Friday. DH has got tonsilitis (sp?) so is on penicilin at the moment.

Can't believe my next mw appt is when I am 28 weeks. Seems like forever! That's also the magic date when I will start buying for baby Grin

SnoozleDoozle · 21/06/2011 17:13

Just wanted to thank everyone for being understanding - my being miffed at my SIL really doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things considering what many others are going through, its not any where near the same league as bereavement or illness but at least we all understand what hormones are like and how they can blow the little things up into something that feels huge. And with regard to the competitive SIL, she is just one of those people who tries to compete with everything. She was always adamant that she hated children and would never have any of her own, so when I was pg first time around, I just felt so relieved that at last there was something she would never compete on. And then she announced she was pg too. Then she was adamant she would never have more that one child and then, here we are, history repeating. It could be coincidence, but in all honesty it just doesn't feel like it is. It just really grinds me down. SIL is one of life competitors, and it doesn't matter that we don't want to compete back, she still does it.

dirgeinvegas · 21/06/2011 17:17

Oh H007 I'm going camping when I'm 30 weeks and starting to worry a bit!

We booked it before we knew was pg and even couple of months ago it still seemed liked a good idea.

Im thinking of taking our futon mattress to sleep on. No idea how we'll get it from the car to the pitch (15 mins walk apparently) but I reckon it's got to be worth it!

Any other tips?

Lovely to hear of all the scans and kicks.

On train now so will try and post again later.

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 21/06/2011 18:07

dirge, take an air mattress and a duvet to sleep on to make sure that you dont get cold, there are some really good threads of camping in the camping section of these forums, you should be able to find one which will list the things that might make it easier for you. I figure with an air mattress you could always put the back seats of the car down and sleep in there if you really had to!!

juststarting · 21/06/2011 19:04

Migraine. Again. So fed up of this. 8th consecutive headache day. But yes, i stil get very tired in the afternoons and am sleeping like crap.
Eugh so fed up and uncomfortable. Can muster no pma today.

H007 · 21/06/2011 19:50

dirge I would most certainly recommend an air mattress, I just had an inflatable sleeping mat and it made my pelvis hurt sooo much I switched to front seat of mini bus. I also took a sleeping bag and a blanket as I found the bag too restricting so slept on the blanket with the bag on top of me. Also had a v-shaped pillow. I would like to go camping again so I definately wouldn't be put off :-)

I just got over-tired as I was supervising students providig sport therapy to riders of the ride across Britain so we weren't getting to bed till 11pm +, sometimes even midnight an then were up with the riders at 5am :(

goldmaple · 21/06/2011 21:00

staceroo This is my first and I felt flutters on and off since 17 weeks, then kicks (jabs) for the past 3 days at 19+5, but I know that is early. Also Ive put on 14 lbs in 20 weeks...:( have appt tomorrow, feel like I might get another talkin' to. I still fit in my pre-maternity pants with a bella band so it is mostly just bump (but that can hardly weigh 13 pounds?!). If you are growing I would say that is a good sign but I know nothing:) so Maybe go see your MW/GP early if possible.

cookie Its my first too and DH felt the baby move when it timed a kick perfectly. At my scans they keep saying its a big baby and my bump is sizeable - but they told me that most baby skeletons are the same size, so the extra poundage is just fat (and its squishy) so doesn't make birth any worse - not sure I buy it (the newborn hats seem to come in quite a range of sizes - some are scary!!)

Happy birthday Angel Belle!

juststarting hope your migraines end soon! Can't imagine how you feel - i can't even handle low grade headaches! Rest up

folic have really bad heartburn as well. But had it before I was pregnant too so can't blame bubba.

CazandBelle · 21/06/2011 21:04

Last night the lanterns didn't go to plan. It was just to windy, and when we gave up it started raining too. We got one lit and it shone brightly for Belle, but we couldn't get it to heaven. We sent a pink star balloon to her this afternoon though.

Today has been such a mixture of emotion, as usual the build up has been far worse than the actual day. I've felt remarkably calm for most of the day today where as last Thursday (remember day) I was a complete state. We've cried for the birthday we wish Belle could have but have celebrated her and her 1st birthday with lots of pink, flowers, garden decoration, balloons and candles. I'm glad I did the mess bit last week so I could celebrate her life today.

We've experienced such generosity from everyone today. Lots of messages, cards, flowers, gifts and gestures. Belle's justgiving page has gone nuts today for her birthday. The lovely Mme started a thread in AIBU for her birthday to rally support for her justgiving page too and lots of people have donated. It really was the perfect day to reach our target and go beyond. I think we're going to be gobsmacked at the final figure when I've counted out what we have in cash offline donations too. My friends work have collected almost £500 today, ontop of the walk and the justgiving page and the raffle and everything we'll collect on Saturday. I'm already amazed.

I cannot believe a whole year has passed. Going to finish the day by lighting the lanterns hung outside our house for her. We've decorated the outside of the house today with new flowers and garden ornaments for her. We bought Belle the pink heart one for her birthday and a friend has given us an identical white heart one for her today. They look beautiful together.

Thank you for all your thoughts and wishes xxx

BuffyFan · 21/06/2011 21:27

My thoughts are with Caz and Blue. Such brave women we have among us. Caz, it sounds like you found a really beautiful way to remember Belle - and I like the pink star balloon just as much as the lanterns.

Things are comparatively uneventful for me. My mother is insisting on making curtains for the new nursery (at least she's letting us choose the fabric). It's her way of helping, and I think she's trying to compensate for being a 5 hour drive away.

I had the results of my DS blood test back yesterday, and our risk is 1:1500, so happy with that. I hadn't realised how much I was worried about it until the flood of relief hit when DH opened the letter. Now on to the next worry... Scan appt not for another 2 weeks, so we have to stay team yellow for a little while longer.

I'm feeling rumbles (only way I can describe it) on and off - trying not to worry too much about the days when I don't feel anything. And definitely still feeling tired all the time! I worked late last night and have been a bit of a zombie all day today to make up for it.

Off to bed... night night all!

neverinamillionyears · 21/06/2011 21:40

Snooze - not to make light of you sil situation but have you ever tried just making something up just to see if she follows. Oh I don't know how about letting on that you have recently joined a holistic pottery class and that it has made you feel closer to your baby or how about you have taken up dominatrix classes as you've heard that it helps you take control in labour. Mmmmm I am tired so sorry for gabbling on although I might fancy the second class myself......now where is my whip.

juststarting · 21/06/2011 21:45

meant to say earlier, happy birthday Belle. What will survive of us is love.

Bluetinkerbell · 21/06/2011 21:50

thanks all! My DD was so absolutely adorable today! She didn't wanna sleep and I was getting quite angry in myself that she didn't. She was crying and I started crying as well, saying I was very sad about our baby. She started wiping my tears and said don't cry Mummy I wipe your tears away, don't worry Mummy.
and then she told my DH when we came downstairs again... Mummy is very sad Daddy, she lost her baby and we have to go and find it...
We told her Sterre is with Jesus and we know where s/he is.

bumpandisaacsmum · 21/06/2011 22:13

blue having just watched "baby hospital" and managing to keep my emotions in check, your last post has set me to tears... I love the way your DD is looking after you; all of you take care x x

caz I'm sorry that the lantern didn't quite make it to Belle, though I am sure she would have seen the brightness and she is no doubt loving the balloon. I am sure Belle is smiling down on you & enjoying everything you are doing to make her first birthday a special one x x

bumpandisaacsmum · 21/06/2011 22:35

Yesterday evening I decided to listen to the hypnobirthing CD I got at the weekend.... after 10minutes or so I was alseep (oops...meant to listen to the whole thing!!) and it was the first night I have slept through for ages!!! Unfortunately this has resulted me in not wanting to get up this morning and feeling as though I haven't been fully awake at all today... did manage to stay awake through my aquanatal class though which was thoroughly enjoyable especially when baby joined in!!

Am loving feeling baby moving, can feel such a range of movements now - often just wriggling, sometimes turning over fully or going from one side to the other!! Have had quite a few strong kicks/punches which are still taking me by surprise as they aren't regular and rarely preceeded by movement so tend to be more of a sudden jolt - this is often at inappropriate times as well, worst being when in the middle of taking a patients blood - made me jump but luckily I managed to keep my hand still :)

h007 sounds as though you have had a busy time, you must be thankful of the minibus!! I too have some camping planned, at least 3 weekends, though not quite in the same way... we do "luxury" camping 15th century style - takes a bit longer to pack the car and set up than modern tents but it does meant that we have a 6.5ft diameter tent that is also 7ft high so plenty of standing room and enough room for a double bed (yes, some people do take full on double beds though we settle for 2-camp beds with 2-duvets). Am going to love it this year as will be made to stand back and watch DP put up the tent!! The issue I have with camping this year is my "kit" won't fit...I can adjust my kirttle (dress) but my shift (under-dress) is fitted and no way of adjusting and I know there is no "bump" space - need to work out how 15th Century did maternity wear!!!!

cep I am another who suffers with tiredness in the afternoons, from about 2-6 I have very little energy :( I thought it may be diet related, but have tried eating more carbs in the morning and lunch for energy to last in the afternoon but so far no luck!!

juststarting hope you get some migrane relief soon

Sorry to those suffering from heartburn, no helpful suggestions from me I'm afraid - hope you find some relief soon.

Am about ready for sleep now, though baby has decided to become active so will prob be kept awake until baby decides to rest :)

Sorry for really long post x x

Caliphora · 21/06/2011 23:52

h007
I do what Bump does, and we have a bell tent which gives standing height, plenty of good ventilation and we can fit a double bed in there. I'm seriously thinking of "cheating" and putting an double-height airbed in there! They're comfy and easily stow away flat at the bottom of the car boot!

bumpandisaacsmum larsdatter.com/maternity.htm - really good ref pictures. I'd think just an extra panel or two in your shift (from just under your bust) will do the trick!

Staceroo · 22/06/2011 07:37

Morning all,

Thanks for the answers about movement, can you believe after all the worry I felt 4 very distinct kicks one after the other when I got out of the bath last night! Yay!

Just hope they continue now! Still have over a week until my scan :-(

Caz, I know it's not exactly the same, but yesterday should have seen us celebrating my little brothers 20th birthday, and I think what you're doing for Belle is amazing.

Have a nice day all.

MooseyMoo · 22/06/2011 14:21

Caz What a lovely way to celebrate Belle's first birthday. It sounds beautiful and your little angelbaby will be looking down knowing she is loved and remembered.

cookie9 · 22/06/2011 14:33

Good news. Scan went well although did have to go for a walk halfway through as baby wouldn't move. We are .......team blue.

Doc has referred me to physiotherapy so that should help me and was v helpful.

chipmonkey · 22/06/2011 14:59

Caz Belle's birthday celebration sounds lovely. The pink balloon sounds fab!

cep · 22/06/2011 16:35

caz Glad Belle's birthday went well.

Scan went fine, still team Yellow, Although for the first time ever dh nearly caved and said yes. not regretting it though. Was amazing in so much detail they didn't go so far last time as we didn't get a 20 wk scan back then, showing us the 4 chambers of the heart and the bladder and stomach.

cookie yay for a great scan as well.

I'm finding it difficult to find large sizes for sleeping and nursing bras. is starting to annoy me.

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 22/06/2011 17:04

Afternoon all,

glad to hear all the scan news, most of it, although like everyone else am so in awe of you blue for the way you have dealt with your terrible news.

Our scan is tomorrow, half minded to find out the sex and half not, not sure what to do really.

Not felt any kicks so far, although have felt some strange flutterings which I think must be the baby and a few electric shocks which i'm not sure are ligament stretches or the baby kicking?

hope you all have a good evening
