Thought I'd take the plunge and go for it.

congrats cookie and cep on team blue and yellow and good scans.

voodoomunkee · 22/06/2011 18:16

Congrats on the scans! Had mw appt today to go over the notes from the last hospital clinic I visited. She tutted an awful lot at the totally OTT way the registrar had gone on and the extra stuff that was planned in.... 3 weekly appointments for bp checks on a regular bp anyone?! Needless to say I am now not having those! I have decided to transfer to the larger hospital which has just reopened their mw led unit on the floor above the consultant led one yay! Feel much better about everything now having talked it over with the mw. Last few days have been dominated by the most god awful headaches. Am currently lying on the settee under a blanket and no immediate plans for moving! Ouch. Anyone got any remedies they wish to share? :) heartburn appears to be very regular and I'm wondering if it has coincided with the massive amount of movement I am now feeling from her.

On phone so difficult to keep up with the posts but hope everyone is ok :)

bumpandisaacsmum · 22/06/2011 19:56

cookie yay for good scan news and team blue :)

cep yay for good scan news, exciting to still be team yellow, am hoping I can stick to my instincts and stay yellow when I have my scan on Monday!!

voodoo glad you had a good appt with your MW & you don't have to go for so many BP checks!! What good timing the larger hospital and their MW-led unit opening :)

dirgeinvegas · 22/06/2011 20:00

Caz that really does sound like a lovely celebration of Belle's birthday.

Yay to more lovely scans and NT/Quad test results!

Thank you for the camping tips everyone. I did think I might be too heavy for an air bed. DD will be in with me -do you think that will be ok an air bed? Plus how do I inflate it if the car is 15 mins walk away?

Well today two thing have happened a lot all of a sudden - I've been told I look really well and that I look huge. Now, the really well thing I'm putting down to some self tan I popped on before bed last night and a new blusher/highlighter and the huge thing, well, thats got me a bit worried.

I'm have a test for GD in a few weeks so I'm starting to worry it might be something like that. Has anyone had GD in previous pregnancies?

Oh and I won my bid for a brand new birth pool on EBay so thats fab news too. Next thing is to figure out where the hell it's going to go once inflated. DH reckons I should just give birth in the kitchen but I think it will be distracting - if it's a long labour people are going to need to eat arent they? They'll want the fridge, kettle, maybe the cooker or microwave. How do you go with the flow with all that going on?

Hope you all had a good day! Smile

Folicacid · 22/06/2011 20:17

Dirge i'm laughing to self here with an image of your birthing and your partner leaning over the pool to flick the kettle on and pop some bread ion the toaster!

dirgeinvegas · 22/06/2011 20:50

Haha folic exactly! I just can't imagine being in labour and staring and the oven door. The kitchen is a busy, lively place but the living room is where you relax isn't it?

DD has just asked if she can get in the pool with me. It's so bloody huge she probably could get in with me and I wouldn't notice.

I'm only 5'2". I'm starting to think that the regular Birth Pool In A Box might be larger than I need. Eek!

cep · 22/06/2011 21:05

dirge lol at the images i now have.

voodoo i'm sorry you're suffering with headaches, i think the only advice i've heard is to make sure you're hydrated. So make sure you're drinking lots of water and make sure you're eating. You can take paracetamol, and if it continues for too long contact midwife/gp.

I've noticed a few pg threads have set up groups on facebook, i was thinking of maybe setting up a nov group. What do you all think?

bumpandisaacsmum · 22/06/2011 21:08

I have to agree with you dirge I can't imagine labouring/birthing in the kitchen with people wanting to get drinks/food etc... also would there be somewhere comfortable for your birth partner/MWs etc to sit if you were to set up the pool in the kitchen??? It sounds lovely your DD getting into the pool with you, there is no reason she couldn't!!

I am struggling with how to approach the subject of homebirth & what birth entails with my DS (6), though doesn't help that DP is reluctant to watch birth things so can't do that as a family - I may screen then show DS an episode of one born or a similar programme!!!

Staceroo · 22/06/2011 21:23

Dirge you're worried about being in the kitchen... apparently as I have suspended wooden floors throughout, the only place we could have a birthing pool is in the conservatory!!!! Can't imagine if my neighbours look over the garden fence while that's all going on!!

cep like the idea of a fb group, would especially be good once we've all popped to see photos etc. The only thing is that some people might like the annonimity on here. And there are some things that you don't want your fb friends to see!! hehehe! Like talking about itchy nipples! (My current dilema!)

Had a lovely walk along the sea front again tonight, but feeling HUGE today! Think baby has grown overnight! Have just had a bath and laying on the bed same as I did last night, hoping baby will kick me again... but nothing so far!

bumpandisaacsmum · 22/06/2011 21:34

cep FB group would be good, it is possible to have a secret group which someone sets up and then adds friends to join the group (only members of the group can add new people) therefore only people in the group can see what is being written/posted - it doesn't come up on your wall etc which would prevent other fb friends from seeing personal things as staceroo states could be a little Blush although doesn't overcome the annonimity!!

Don't ask me how to set up a secret group as I have no idea but one of my friends added me to one!!

cep · 22/06/2011 21:49

Ok i need a name to invite to the group. If someone wants to pm me their fb name, otherwise it won't let me do it with just me. I can do it secret where only members see other members and comments. (or so it says)

I think chat will still be on here, but i'd add photos to fb where i wouldn't on here. And we can have stats and arrange any get togethers we may have over the next few months on there.

dirgeinvegas · 22/06/2011 21:49

I've set up two secret groups recently - they work brilliantly actually!

We could set one up and then whoever is admin gets a PM from someone who's been on the thread for a while giving their name IRL.

You wouldn't have to give your MN name in the group as long as the admin knew you. Plus you'd only have to befriend the admin on FB and not all of our antenatal thread!

Have I just made it worse? I love the idea of posting pics of things only we can see! Prams, slings, maternity wear, my giant birth pool! Grin

dirgeinvegas · 22/06/2011 21:50

PM sent Smile

dirgeinvegas · 22/06/2011 21:58

Staceroo I think a conservatory sounds lovely. Is it really an option? You could cover the windows with homemade paper blinds (saw these in a house that used conservatory as a play room - looked good), twinkly fairy lights and a nice closed space. You'd just have to make sure you were warm.

H007 · 22/06/2011 21:59

dirge you'll be fine on an aired no matter what size, just ensure that you've added enough air! You can buy a battery operated pump that also sucks the air out at the end, you can get this from places like Argos etc.

Loving the idea of faceyb group!

H007 · 22/06/2011 22:00

cep I would pm you buy don't know how to on my phone :(

Folicacid · 22/06/2011 22:11

Oh yikes I get all weird about FB and love being anonymous on here. Will you still come back and update this thread?

Folicacid · 22/06/2011 22:14

Oh and who asked about headaches? Sorry I can't read well on phone so often miss things. Best thing I've found is to drown the buggers- I mean it. get drinking as much water and fluid as you can. It works for me.

cep · 22/06/2011 22:15

folic no worries as i said i'm still thinking we'll mostly be on here, it's just for posting piccies and meetings and things that people wouldn't be happy having the www being able to see, which they can on here.

WuzzAndBuddy · 22/06/2011 22:34

I've found you all! Grin

Apologies first...
I'm so sorry I vanished, things have been manic round here lately. DH came back safely, in one piece and with no signs of 'issues' from his 7month trip away.
He's been on leave for 5 weeks so he and DS have been in control of my days, getting used to being a little gang of 3 again.

I can't make promises I'll be a daily poster again as things are still a bit hectic but now I've found you all I'll try my very hardest to keep up! Grin

Hope I'm forgiven...? (lays feast on table as bribery....)

How is everyone? Whats the news? Can anyone fill me in on my missed weeks in one post!?

Got my 20wk scan on Tuesday, just got to get past 2 crappy days at work tomorrow and Friday then I can get excited!

Missed you all xx

cep · 22/06/2011 22:37

Hey wuzz have been wondering where you are. Glad you're ok. I can't possibly update in 1 post, am a terrible updater. FX for tuesday.

Folicacid · 22/06/2011 22:41

Wuzz forgiveness depends on what's in your feast Grin Great that you've been having such a good time and DH isn't back with ishoos. Has he seen a real difference in you? are you keeping well?

Eeee I can't possibly summarise what's been happenng...but mostly cos i miss it all myself as often on phone and can only easily read back a few posts and the thread moves so quickly. The sad news is that bluetinkerbell has lost her baby. Gave birth to little baby Sterre this week. She seems strong and is being well cared for and loved.

In Other News Stacey may give birth in the conservatory with her neighbours cheerleading and dirge is thinking about setting up birthing pool in kitchen amongst the pots and pans.

I've joined yoga which I'm loving and scan this week too. And have also discovered the June ante natal thread where I've been reading birth stories.

Dat's it from me...

cep · 22/06/2011 22:48

wuzz i can say that i'm trying to set up a group on fb for us, it'll be secret so only members see comments and stuff. If you wish to join pm me your fb name and if i actually manage to get it setup tomorrow i'll add you. Need to be friends with me first though. (ahhh sounds like school ground)

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 23/06/2011 06:33

I've sent you a pm cep.

Welcome back wuzz, my ex was in the merchant navy so know how mad it can be when he came back, bet you are really glad that he is home now though :)

Bluetinkerbell · 23/06/2011 07:07

I can't say it enough... thanks all for being so loving and caring for me!
It really means the world!

That Facebook group sounds such fun! (I am a real Facebook addict... well and Mumsnet as well now Wink ) I hope you ladies enjoy sharing pics and other stuff there!

My DH and I will have a day out on Saturday to go to Anabelle's Angel Day. It's a 2 hour single drive to get there but it will be good to get out of the house and get away from everything. A friend will look after DD.
