Thought I'd take the plunge and go for it.

OP posts:

Caliphora · 28/06/2011 12:00

H007 I've managed to do a cardi, a pixie hat and a pair of booties.
Working evenings has meant no time for it, really.

About the Discworld mobile - I was planning getting the "Art of Discworld" book, do some transfer prints onto cotton fabric and then wad it all into shapes.
[http://remodelista.com/posts/holiday-gift-hygge-west-childrens-mobile Bit like this]

Caliphora · 28/06/2011 12:01

Oh snap!

Bit like this

lktoday5 · 28/06/2011 15:58

wuzz its the frankly ridiculous benefits of DH being an officer. Honestly, next door have 6 of them crowded in (he's a Sergeant Major) and we have 2 of us rattling around (ok less so when bubba arrives but still .....) I've got my first 'officers wives' do tonight, excited and dreading it in equal measure. Im SO not an 'officers wife' ...could be interesting Wink, wait for me to post tomorrow with 'all the things L-K shouldnt have said but did' Grin

cep · 28/06/2011 16:15

afternoon ladies,

yay for good scans although boo to another low lying placenta chip why don't they think it'll move?

Baby kicked so hard last night my belly actually bounced was not expecting it so soon not with my flab.

PamSco · 28/06/2011 17:19

cep I could compete on flab with anyone - not that I'm proud Blush but I can feel how hard everything is under the surface padding.

Not sure if any kicks and punches are visible but blimey I can feel them. I really thought I wouldn't be able to given my size - just goes to show you.

I'm not knitting until after 20 week scan then I'll play catch up. I have a great set of booty/hat and matinee set patterns which I bought fro my niece's birth. Can't wait. Even though we will know colour (amnio will be 100% correct gender screen) I'm still keeping the colours cream, green and yellow as they are my fave colours.

Folicacid · 28/06/2011 17:29

chip welcome to my gang. Although mine are overlapping I still pray that the placenta has time to move up and away. Have you had any bleeding?
How are you feeling about it all?

ziggi and pam me too! I hope to get into the new birth centre if it ever opens.

I can't get back to everyone's posts infact this will sound daft but sometimes how fast and full this thread is makes me a bit overwhelmed as I get kinda stage fright about not remembering everythingg everyone says. It must be hormonal nonsense!

cep · 28/06/2011 17:41

folic i wouldn't worry about remembering everyones posts, i don't which is why mine are always 1-2 sentences. even when i do remember something i can't remember who said it.

pam i doubt you have more than me, not that i'm setting a challenge. Grin

is anyone still having weird dreams? i've had 2 doozies this week

jamama · 28/06/2011 17:56

OK once again it has been approx 1m years since I last checked in, so am going to go for a flippant 'dreams' post instead of anything based on pg symptoms Grin. Last night dreamt I was in love with a werewolf, and that I was pg with his doggie offspring. Dream was strangely sexual, although now sounds grim.
folic agreed, it is really hard to keep up, esp if you have a day or two of not being at computer and have rubbish phone. Doesn't mean I am not trying to read or don't care, it is wonderful (and sometimes terrible in equal amounts) to read everyone's news, but we all have a lot going on with jobs, dcs, appts and bumps (not to mention people asking pointless 'how's it going' questions - it is 'going' fine, or I probably wouldn't be at work, would I? )

PamSco · 28/06/2011 18:15

I didn't dream when I was on hols which is weird for me, I dream all the time. Last night, well I made up for it big style. Very rude dream indeed, kept receiving packages through the post - adult toys i hadn't ordered, but I got to keep them all. I'll leave it there....

folicI think we'll be grand for the new birth centre. I was chatting to a lady due in early Sept and her mw told her they were confident she'd be in. Though if we are all in at the same time that would be a Mumsnet meet up!

Having spent a week in the RIE last month I am definitely taking a fruit bowl and sandwiches with me - food was pretty rubbish. Though fingers crossed I'm not in that long. My sis didn't think of that and ended up in labour for 30 hours with no food until my mam came to the rescue (she's not in Edi).

cep · 28/06/2011 18:33

pam i took some energy bar thing in my bag when in labour with ds, just a shame dh forgot to take it out of the car and he refused to go back and get it.

i had one where i suddenly worked somewhere with access to a scanner, i'd gotten worried something was wrong with the baby so they scanned me and the baby was fine but in a dress. When i asked why it was in a dress apparently the scanner puts it in clothes of the sex it is.

the other one i had pains in my stomach and for some reason the midwife checked my cervix and came away with blood on her hand turned out the cervix had opened a little bit so i was told to push my tush up so gravity didn't do any extra damage and had to stay like that for the rest of the pg.

that's been it so far . I'll have a sexual one next time please.

Has everyone who asked to join the fb group been accepted yet? If you haven't yet joined but wish to, please pm me with your name and preferably a description of your profile pic.

cookie9 · 28/06/2011 18:38

Pamsco glad amnio went ok. Fingers crossed for the results but at least they seem to process them quickly.

Gold maple we are thinking about having a 3d scan.

Not had any sexy dreams so a bit miserable about that although in my present condition I couldn't act on them anyway!

Mil has managed to annoy me today. When we said we were calling baby Christopher she said later to my husband she doesn't like the name and suggested something else. She then called me and I said I didn't like her suggestion. End of story.... Or so I thought I now have another email from her saying again she doesn't like our name and suggesting hers. To further annoy me she has copied my sil in on it and she likes her mother's suggestion. Good she can bloody well call her children that.

Grrrr sorry for the rant.

cep · 28/06/2011 18:46

cookie can't blame you for being annoyed at your mil, how bloomin rude, what you decide to name your child is nothing to do with her. How dare she carry on e-mailing you to change your minds. I'd suggest to sil that as she likes it she keeps it in mind for her children. Does she have plans for any yet?? if not i'd start asking in the same e-mail you recommend her using the name.

i'm very scrappy these last couple of days aren't i.....sorry.

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 28/06/2011 18:49

Afternoon all,

I just wondered if anyone else has gotten a MATB1 form without asking for it from the midwife? I had to go back to the hospital to get one today after forgetting to ask for it last week at my scan, at my workplace you have to submit all your paperwork requesting maternity leave at least 15 weeks before your due date, for which you need this form which is only issued after the 20 week scan, so not much time inbetween! Sorry for being boring, but thought that I would mention it.

As far as the knitting is going, have done one vest, one bootie, still to do the other one and part way through a crocheted lap blanket and a hooded top, also doing some knitting for me too :)

cep · 28/06/2011 19:00

twojack i think last time my mw gave it to me about 25 wks, i'm seeing her about then this time as well so expect to get it then.

kate393 · 28/06/2011 19:11

Hi all! cep had to giggle at the dress scan dream Grin. I can't really say mine have got worse during pg, they've always been mental (talk a lot much to DH's amusement, sometimes he can keep a whole conversation going with me while I'm asleep!)

Boo for LL placenta chip but glad everything else good n nice to hear about all the other good scans too. Good luck to all those still waiting.
Thinking about having a 3d scan maybe late 20s/early 30s as don't think can wait till nov from now....seems a long time! Anyone had one with previous pregnancies?
Re everyone having the itching, I had the most horrendous itchy legs earlier on and savlon really did the trick and don't have it any more. Using it on boobs now every now n again as they're bit dry, although not itchy, as well as bio oil, but found bio oil made my legs worse for itch!
Finally sold my old house (one I had with ex which has been on market for 3 years!!!) so we're starting work on our latest current house project....kitchen extension....which has (soon to be) nursery on top! Increasingly aware of nov deadline tho Hmm!
folic/ziggi/Pam how funny if you all ended up in at same time!
What's everyones thoughts on baby monitors....was doing some research last night....video vs audio and also has anyone used or will be getting breathing monitor are they more stress than they're worth?

juststarting · 28/06/2011 20:10

Evening all. No nasty itching here yet, but I well recall the itchy boob problems! No knitting either. Not a knitter. i DID once knit a blanket for my pound puppy!
I too get worried I have forgotten something that someone has said when I do a catch up. But on the monitor front, we decided not to do video and went for an analogue audio after reading a lot about the types of signal used and health issues. Cant recall the details. OF course within a couple of months of his birth,w e were back on the wireless internet etc. But still.
One of my friends had major problems with her MIL and her choice of name. She actually refused to call him by the chosen name, refused to announce it to her friends, and even told the baby's older sister not to use it! I was SO shocked! It was appalling! My own mother STILL keeps asking about it, nearly two years later, she was so appalled.
So what happened to this new thread concept? i think it could be a goer about now.

BuffyFan · 28/06/2011 20:54

Definitely think we're getting v close to needing the next thread!

juststarting your friend's MIL sounds like a nightmare! Puts my family into perspective, that's for sure.

I've had a few random erotic-at-the-time dreams as well. Shame my sex drive in the waking world is running on empty :(

Thanks to cep for setting up the fb group - it's really nice to see everybody's scan pictures!

Well no tears so far tonight - and I managed to hold it together at work today (near enough) but left a bit early to make up for some late nights/early mornings recently (Ha! like an hour one day makes up for them getting an extra 4-days worth out of me this month...)

Now sitting at the PC with the cat purring on my lap - apparently both cats and dogs like pregnant women :o

cep · 28/06/2011 20:59

kate it'll be so weird if i do have a girl. Grin we didn't get a video monitor just an audio one. we also didn't get a breathing monitor however my brother did for my dn but then she was born with breathing problems, and she would stop breathing for a little bit, but it was a medical thing they all knew about. Ds stayed in the moses basket in our room till he was about 6 months anyway. I've heard it can make things worse cause obviously it doesn't take much to set it off, it's all personal opinion and what you feel is going to suit you best.

just that's awful. What does she do now?? is she calling him by his name now??

i keep getting itchy nipples, but i have to be careful cause i can actually hurt them. Does anyone else(on second dc) have funny nipples, i couldn't breast feed ds cause my nipples would come out then go back in, i'm really worried the same will happen this time. I don't want to have had 2 dc's and not be able to bf either of them. Will try to do a new thread if noone else has by the time i've finished this post.

cep · 28/06/2011 21:04

new thread here

Hils74 · 28/06/2011 21:04

Hi all, I definately want to know if we're team pink or blue, I'm so nosy I can't help it, plus I would like to get organised. OH wants it to be a surprise grrr...

As for wierd dreams, my last freaky one was... I gave birth to baby boy, who OH took off to meet his parents. But when I went looking for them the baby had turned into a fish and OH and FIL had to put it on the bbq for dinner!! Grin

buffy my cat likes sleeping on my tummy, then when I get kicked she looks up to see what happened!

cep · 28/06/2011 21:11

hils were you hungry at the time??

H007 · 28/06/2011 21:17

cookie that is exactly the reason why we have decided not to tell anyone the name until after the birth... I want two middle names and my mum has already made a comment about that but to be honest it just strengthened my argument for not telling her our thoughts on names haha

Ziggimajiggi · 29/06/2011 07:53

Morning!

Not much time today as I didn't sleep a wink...just wanted to say...

folic and pam we should totally meet up! I mean...just if you fancy it...

Have a brilliant day will try to catch up properly tomorrow,

xxx
Ziggi

PamSco · 29/06/2011 08:49

Hi Ziggi I've answered on new thread... :)

stripeymummy · 27/07/2011 14:36

Hiya, I have decided to join this thread, having spent a wee whiley watching it :)
I am 25weeks today, and wondering if anyone else has had the "holy sh*te, it's actually real!!" moment yet? I had it a couple of weeks ago after an antenatal aquacise class, when one of the girls turned up bumpless and with a baby. Suddenly it wasn't all vitamin supplements, hazy scans and Miriam Stoppard books, but there is a real live baby in there! I'm hoping this is quite a normal reaction to have (this is my first)?
Anyway, I'm enjoying reading the posts, especially ones about dreams (I had a dream a few nights ago that I gave birth to a baby with the body of a pizza and a danish pastry head!), and hope to be able to air my own queries and qualms :) xx
