Thought I'd take the plunge and go for it.

goldmaple · 27/06/2011 21:09

pandia the line showed up in the past week for me as well... probably first of many changes, oh well... a little baby will be well worth it:) Trying to ignore the splotchy red and white going on around my tummy.

Does anyone else have a very itchy belly?

blue glad you are sticking around too. What you have planned for Sterre sounds lovely

pam hope they were able to do amino on you finally! and really glad to hear gallbladder is being slightly better.

Good luck with all the scans coming up. Anyone else who doesn't get another scan considering paying for a 3D scan?

H007 · 27/06/2011 21:47

I am so jealous of you all for feeling your babies move and having your 20 week scans (so unfair stamps feet in a childlike manner)

Caliphora · 27/06/2011 21:54

Itchy belly all over! DP rubs it with Coconut butter though, and it's all better :)

I don't get any sickpay, unfortunately, so signing me off won't hurt them at all. And today, when it was boiling in Manchester, the air con was off. I despair!

WuzzAndBuddy · 27/06/2011 22:29

Oh Cali, that really, really sucks... Rock and a hard place really isn't it!?
Must be something you can do, short of unleashing hormone fuelled pregnant woman tantrums on them all!
Buggers. Karma will kick them in the teeth soon enough xx

Truffkin · 27/06/2011 22:50

Evening ladies, I've tried to catch up with everything but this thread moves so quickly! I'm really shocked that some people have experienced such negativity at work and hope it's not like that for your whole pregnancy. I'm in an interesting position as there appears to be a baby boom going on in my Company! I work in HR too so I don't think anyone would dare be horrid to me Grin I have managed to book all of my scans at the weekend and I took a days' holiday for my first midwife appointment, but will need to take time off for the subsequent appointments as I want to save holiday up for before my maternity leave starts. I have had 2 sick days and my boss has been fine about them, both were related to my sickness, which feels much more under control now (although not completely gone!!)

Blue lovely that you are still popping in, your plans sound perfect and exactly what you want for your little one.

Caz congratulations on achieving a great total, so nice that some of our group were able to join you for your fete too.

Pam hope your amnio went well today and everything was in the right place to get it done this time.

I have found the heat challenging today too, although I thought I would be ok as I'm not so big yet. I do have an actual bump now but depending on what I wear, it can look bigger or smaller. I wore a slightly clingy (jersey material) maxi dress today and felt pretty big, so will be going for a less show-offy outfit tomorrow. We have our scan on Saturday and I think if everything goes well, I will feel more comfortable having my bump on show. I am not feeling any movement either, so that contributes to my nerves.

Talking of itching, I seem to have the itchiest boobs on the face of the planet! Seriously, they are just a nightmare and although I am moisturising twice a day, it doesn't seem to be making an impact. I've had a few shooting pains in my boobs as well, which is worrying as I am interpreting them as growing pains and think I might end up with giant mammaries that suffocate my poor newborn when I try to breastfeed!

In much nicer news, my SiL had her third baby last weekend so we now have another nephew. We went to visit him on Saturday and at only a week old he seems very chilled out (compared to his high maintenance brother and sister!) and it was really nice seeing my DH holding him as he's not really been one for holding newborns in the past. A bit of a melting moment for me!

Has anyone been feeling quite emotional at all? I find myself welling up at the silliest of things and really need to get a handle on it. We're kicking off a really big transformation project at work next week, which will require me to put people at risk of redundancy and I can't be joining in if anyone gets upset - it's just not professional at all Blush

chipmonkey · 27/06/2011 22:56

Had my anomaly scan today and the good news is that baby looks healthy and well. The bad new is that I am joining Folic in the low-lying-placenta club! Im my case the placenta is covering the cervix and is very unlikely to move up. I asked if I was likely to get the same result as with ds3 which was a massive bleed at 32 weeks followed by him being delivered 24 hours later but my obs says that is not very likely, that usually what happens is a small bleed at around 36 weeks and then perhaps a larger bleed later.
While the boys were being babysat I also ran in to Next and bought a few bits for SIL's wedding and our holiday next week. Got shoes to go with my dress which are very beautiful but very high so I will have to buy a pair of flats for later.

chipmonkey · 27/06/2011 22:58

Oh, and I am still team yellow ( although very likely team blue given past history!)

Staceroo · 27/06/2011 23:18

Long post warning...lots to catch up on!!

folic so pleased to here that all is OK with your little one & fx for smooth pregnancy here on in!

caz Well done! Fantastic fundraising! Cou;dn't believe it when you said 16 weeks till induction! That sounds so close!!!

MRSik congratulations!

cep i was with you on the thinking behind baby tickets for the olympics but believe it or not they do need one! Though it only costs £1 (pay your age for under 16s). We did manage to get some tickets, 2 tickets for the boxing (which may be grandparents first chance to babysit overnight) then tickets for all 3 of us for the football at the millenium stadium, which is noce and close to home!

Pam hope amnio went OK - was so pleased you didn't end up rushing back from your holiday as you said you may, and that you had a nice time!

Cali i do get where your coming from re feeling wierd having something alive in your belly, also being a first timer - but for me it's kind of a fun wierd, in fact I laugh pretty much everytime it kicks, which is getting pretty regular now!

I've also had lots of people telling me how i should be feeling and what i should be doing, i'm very good at saying thanks for the advise, but i'm doing xxxxx or thanks, but we're just gonna work that one out for ourselves!

Katie hows the wind!? Blush sorry was a few days ago you mentioned that, but i'm having terrible toruble, though fortunately it often gets saved up for the car journey home! Dreading the point where it lets rip at work!! eeek!

Wuzz when you said about your appraisal I cringed, I have mine next week and know I will get emotional. I have some things to say about how the expectations that are put on me are too much (complely un-pregnancy related) and I know I'm gonna struggle to get out ehat I want to without crying!

Truffkin and Gold I have itchy belly and boobs. I've had a rash on my belly, which is eczema like (but not sure it is eczema) which gets really bad at times, though moisturising helps. As for the boobs...TMI warning... these are a major problem... so my nipples are really dry, cracked and flaking... is this normal????? Confused

WOW impressed with my catching up! One week today till my 21 and a half 20 week scan! Grin

Caliphora · 27/06/2011 23:24

Well, it's a rock and a bloody hungry place, I tell you! Last week I had two days off as I had an emergency appointment and subsequent stay in the hospital due to low thyrixon levels.
I get paid weekly, which meant almost half normal pay last Friday and it's DP's monthly payday this Thursday - we're skint :(
I seriously don't know how I'd manage if DP didn't have a reasonably well paid job.

Good thing I'm used to student money, or we'd be absolutely without any tinned food and dry pasta! (I hamster chopped tomatoes out of habit).

Caliphora · 27/06/2011 23:26

Staceroo I'm temping as a customer service agent - poor people who call me when Sprout is using my bladder as a trampoline - I just can't stop giggling!

Truffkin · 27/06/2011 23:49

Stace with you on the nipple thing so I bloody hope it's 'normal' Grin Am trying Bio Oil tonight, will let you know how it goes!

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 28/06/2011 06:42

Good morning all,

just wanted to answer Goldmaple, we are going to have another private scan at the early 30's weeks, there is a place near my folks where they do a scan without sexing the baby so my parents and inlaws can see the baby and us too, cos I think it's a long long time till November :)

PamSco · 28/06/2011 07:57

Gold, Truff, Stace can I join the club? Itchy itchy itchy boob, just the left. Skin is thick like a nettle rash, so hard to keep me nails off it. I'm using unperfumed moisturiser and it helps a bit.

Amnio went well, thanks all, will get the initial results on friday or monday. Everything has been grand no cramps or leakages but I'm still taking the morning at home. My boss is great, he humours the "work from home" so I am very very lucky.

Next step is the gallbladder MRI scan, then finally get a proper good look at Babs on Friday. Babs was sitting head up cross legged yesterday - top of the head looked nice lol.

Is it naughty to have a coffee before the 20 week to get it wriggling a bit? This babs now has a history of being very sleepy during scans.

Oh and I asked about low lying placenta, mines high, but the consultant said that it is fairly meaningless at the mo - mine could go low or a low one can move out the way.

I'm very tempted by a private scan...

PamSco · 28/06/2011 07:59

Is it time for a new thread yet? How about... About halfway PMA all the way?

Ziggimajiggi · 28/06/2011 08:01

Good morning,

Wuzz I would love to come with you into your work and beat them gently show them what they're doing wrong.
Think I may post a pregnancy rights 101 doc later this week :)

Nipples! My nipples are so sore and cracked - the only think that helps is Lasinoh (sp?). Amazing stuff!

Apart from that all is well, although my maternity tights weren't the biggest success. They fell halfway down my legs at one point. Thank god for my knee length pencil skirt. Blush

So excited for everyone's scans. Literally may explode with nerves about my own on Friday though. Terrified they'll say something like "actually it was a mistake and you've imagined the whole thing."

The sun is shining here in Edinburgh so looking forward to a sunny day for a change,
Have a fantastic Tuesday
xxx
Ziggi

WuzzAndBuddy · 28/06/2011 08:03

Morning!

Chip, glad you had a good scan, rubbish that your in the LL placenta club aswell though.

Does anyone know, is low lying placenta a hit or miss thing or does it reoccur each pregnancy?
I think what I mean is, if it was low lying last time what are the chances this time?

Has anyone been photographing the bump?
I did every week with DS but have barely even looked at it this time round! Feel a bit guilty...

Cali thats so rubbish, its not like you want to take the time off, or wanted to be made to stay in hospital... work sounds like one pain you could do without right now! Grin
Do come in here and sound off when you need to though, you're in good company!

Stace, luckily its our deputy manager who does my appraisal, she's known me longer than our new manager and isn't a complete battleaxe either! She just giggled and said 'don't worry about it all, its not that bad. We'll sort it all out' all I could reply was 'I'm just... hormonal!' Blush
Can't imagine much will change but at least I got out how I'm feeling about working there.
28days to go... its still 14weeks, but it sounds less in days! Grin

lktoday5 · 28/06/2011 08:17

wuzz yes, yes we're in quarters now and its lush, I'm LOVING it. BUt then having moved from a 2 bedroom flat to a 4 bedroom house with garden who wouldnt?!

DH said 'yes, we all have to have annual swimming tests, and yes, it is bonkers!' reminds me of being about 7 again!

Oh, and we got married really quickly, we wanted to make sure we were together (we'd been living about 300 miles apart) and in quarters when baby came so small do and we're having a big white blessing next year ...

About the itching, I had an extra appt with my new midwife on Sat and she said piriton was ok - Ive managed to scratch my legs until they bleed (fail) and my bump is a nightmare, have also been whacking the bio oil on ....

Sorry to all those having issues with work, i have a female boss who, frankly has been a legend. Talking of which, id beter hop to it instead of being here in my jammies talking to you all!

Have good days all and hope no-one elses feet look like mine did yesterday Shock!

PamSco · 28/06/2011 08:22

Ziggi didn't know you were in Edi!! So am I. So we are due the same day, have our 20 week the same day and in the same city. Bloomin eck.

PoppysMom · 28/06/2011 08:26

Pandia hope you have a nice time here and are starying in a nice hotel.
I love Singapore, but the humidity and heat can be very tough (maybe I'm just a whimp since falling pregnant)

Cali & Wuzz it is ridiculous how you are being treated in work!
They are meant to allow you more breaks, give you chairs, etc to make your work environment better for you. And they shopuldn't have you lugging files around Angry

I broke down in tears yesterday after catching a glimpse of me in the mirror. I have become a pear shape and I look gigantic large. On top of that it looks as if someone stuck Pam Anderson's boobs on my chest. I feel awful and DH had a hard time comforting me :(
However I love feeling baby move. I thought I would find is creepy, but nope, love it

Right, back to work I go. Hope everyone is well

WuzzAndBuddy · 28/06/2011 08:30

Pam and Ziggi.... are you the same person....? Grin

Congratulations Lk, really pleased for you. Glad you're all going to be together in the same house from the start!
And what did you do to get a 4bed!?!?!?
I'm having to prove I'm pregnant so we can move to a 3bed, even though there are 10 empty on our estate!

BuffyFan · 28/06/2011 08:36

Truffkin I started crying when walking to work this morning - not the best start to the day, and last night I had to acknowledge that I was the weirdo on the bus when I cried most of the way home as well.

It's so annoying when there's nothing really wrong with me! Thank goodness it's cooler today though - I'm hoping a good night's sleep will sort me out.

And I really hope there is a Discworld mobile - if not I'll have to work out how to make one!

Sorry for those working in crappy workplaces! It's just not right in this day and age. I don't do too badly (law firm, so they kind of have to abide by the law...) but still can't avoid the long hours. Anything more than a straightforward 9-5 seems to have me crying to DH when I get home!

Still more than a week until our scan (next Wednesday) and the paranoia / worry is mounting - Ziggi I understand how you feel. Because (like cep said) I'm quite overweight I don't have a particular bump (just additional flabbiness) so if I can't feel lump moving it's easy to imagine it's all in my head. Roll on next Wednesday afternoon!

PamSco hope the amnio was OK?

WuzzAndBuddy · 28/06/2011 08:54

Crocheted discworld

PoppysMom · 28/06/2011 08:58

Buffy I call DH in tears throughout the day when I get too stressed. I feel like a psycho.
And last week I got so frustrated on a bus that I cried the entire journey :(
He was going very slowly (30 at most along the highway) and kept stopping at bus stops that weren't his as well as green lights.
Thinking about it now makes me cry.
Oh dear, where did I put that chocolate..?

Oh, does anyone know if Braxton Hicks can come and go? I had what I thought was them all weekend and half of last week, but yesterday there were only a few and nothing today Confused?

H007 · 28/06/2011 09:25

Sorry for those having a bad time at work :( I am so lucky my work is fantastic. I work in a majority male environment and form 8 weeks I haven't been allowed to do anything :) well anything I didn't want too. It was hard in early pregnancy as the students were about, however now they are gone it is all desk duty and prep for next year.

I am also one of those hoping to move in time for the birth and at present we are fingertips away from exchange :) it is all very exciting, we decided to go for a new build just because they did a part-exchange. So within the period of 4 months I am going to own my first house, move in with my OH for the first time and become a mum for the first time.... So scary!

Something we haven't chatted about for a while, how are all the knitters coming along? I have completed one cardi, a third the way through a blanket and have started on a second cardi.... Need to get back into it though as I have been feeling too tired to be bothered for weeks now.

chipmonkey · 28/06/2011 10:47

Wuzz I think the odds of low lying placenta recurring are not too high but the more CS's you have the higher the risk of placenta praevia.
