Thought I'd take the plunge and go for it.

Info about balancing the uterus:

Basically, if you have torsions in the ligaments which anchor your uterus then it can make less space for the baby to move into OFP. So by stretching out torsions and imbalances you should bring about an even hammock for your baby making it easier for them to turn OA (or head down from breech). I wasn't aware of this with DD.

The exercises themselves are from an antenatal movement class so hard to show here. However, resting in all fours position and allowing your belly to hang is a good one. Also look at exercises which lengthen the psoas muscle - particularly if you have a desk job or a job where you twist to one side like hairdressing or physio.

There may be a local class you can go to Poppet, PM me if you want info. I know what you mean, I slept on my stomach for 2 weeks trying to turn DD and consequently was exhausted when I went into labour. The SB page also advises on positions for turning posterior babies during early labour. I'm keeping that tip in my back pocket and not stressing about it this time round (thoough still living and breathing OFP!) Smile

Here's an example of psoas stretch for pregnancy although not the one I was thinking of:

CazandBelle · 09/06/2011 14:33

Well I've now been diagnosed with cervical erosion - looks like the bleeding is going to be part of this pregnancy on and off. Dr was sure it was coming from the outside of the cervix, and looking at the cervix this time it is showing defo signs of erosion. listened to Xander's heartbeat again and he's fine. Had to have another internal (yuck and ow) and more swabs have been sent to the lab just to make sure there isn't any infection. Not expecting there to be because there wasn't a week ago when the last lot went off. They've said its harmless, but I still wish I didn't have to have the added anxiety of seeing red stuff. Going to have to roll with it I guess. Anyone else got any experience of cervical erosion and what happened through previous pregnancies? Dr said there was no need for me to have any time off work and stick to normal rest patterns. I can't wait to see my consultant Monday, just for the added reassurance.

BronP · 09/06/2011 14:38

Hey CazandBelle,
Glad you're ok, or something near to it after all the worry. Hope it gets easier for you.
Do you mind this first timer asking what on earth cervical erosion is?

CazandBelle · 09/06/2011 14:59

bron it is when the cervix bleeds because of some sort of irritation. Sex can cause it (not that we've had any of that for about 7 weeks now since the bleeding started to happen), but also hormonal reasons. Other reasons too but don't know off the top of my head. I will google later and read my pregnancy bible! Dr thinks mine is hormone related due to pregnancy causing changes in the neck of my womb. promised its harmless but that doesn't stop the worry. I wish I was one of these women who have lovely smooth pregnancies!

I'm not 100% sure exactly what it is. Somebody better at explaining than me will come along and tell us!

CazandBelle · 09/06/2011 15:02

Oh the Dr didn't inspire confidence in me today when his first questions was "is this your first pregnancy" - would it really be too much to ask for people to read my notes and know my obstetric history so they can at least try and be sensitive before bowling in with questions.

I'm definitely ready for a consultant visit!!

Folicacid · 09/06/2011 15:26

Caznandbelleandxander that's good news that they know what is causing the bleeding, although it is still a scary place to be in. Shitty that there was no reading of your notes beforehand though- that's just lazy.

I'm feeling more PMA after yesterday. Have taken two days holiday so not back to work until next week. Just put name on waiting list for pregnancy yoga (waiting for people to have their babies!) and am trying to find someone to fit me in for a massage tomorrow.

Interesting to hear all the view points re induction- I've never thought about it. I also had to have a quick calculation of my dates as had a long cycle when conceived and I think that means that they think I am further on than I am.

dirgeinvegas · 09/06/2011 15:27

bloody hell Caz you're right, note reading, quick glance of your history - not too taxing?

I heard a theory that tough pregnancy = easy birth. You've got to get karma in this somewhere. Thinking of you xx

BronP · 09/06/2011 16:01

What is says on the tin then really...I should have thought that through before asking Blush
CazandBelle, I think dirgeinvegas is right....good karma is just around the corner. Thinking of you and hope the hormones settle and let you do something similar.

Caliphora · 09/06/2011 17:51

So, trying to turn this into a PMA... DP is now coeliac as well as lactose intolerant. Which means the poor man will be so limited to what he can eat on the fly. Also - he can't have beer! I've kept this from him so far, but he will discover it eventually...

PMA spin = we're going to have to eat so much nutritious, low carb, home made food that I'll most likely shed the baby weight quicker than I thought possible.
And I get to make him yum stuff - I love seeing his pretty face light up when he has a new taste sensation. He lost 8 stone last year (27st to 19st), thanks to having someone (me) force him to eat healthy food. Now I can break the last plateau by making him eat salads!

MooseyMoo · 09/06/2011 18:44

Very quickly popping in to say Caz there have been a few questions about cervical erosion in the pregnancy section on here. Seems it is absolutely harmless and will not affect your pregnancy apart from the random bleeds. I think it is quite common.

Bron - welcome! Best piece of advice was from my mum. Treat the first two weeks as if you are ill and take it easy. Do not get dressed for the first week.

bumpandisaacsmum · 09/06/2011 19:08

caz I had bleeding from cervical erosion just before falling pg this time due to the hormones from taking the pill, think it may have been why I bleed throughout 1st pg!! Hope that knowing where the bleeding is coming from is helping you x x

dirge thanks for posting those exercises, my 1st was also an awkward posterior baby (along with being superman & cord round the neck) though suprisingly it was an "easy" 6hr labour and minimal pain til I was forced onto my back due to the baby not cooperating with the monitoring!!!

Welcome bron I have to agree with the don't plan on getting dressed for the 1st week!! Also, focus on the needs of you & the baby not everyone else who wants to come see baby (& if people want to come round ask them to do a chore e.g. Washing up/cooking, for cuddles!!!)

Poppet45 · 09/06/2011 19:26

Dirge thanks so much for posting those exercises, they look great, and I shall favourite them in a mo. Much, much appreciated. I didn't mean to sound like I was dismissing OFP btw, I think that it really does help in almost all cases, just every now and then you get a case of sod's law. I'm hoping I get better luck this time and will still try to be good with my posture but can't promise to avoid the couch this time!
Caz my early bleeding was thought to be cervical erosion too, my midwife explained it as sometimes a piece of endometrial tissue ends up growing on the outside of the cervix, instead of in the uterus as usual, and it is this tissue that is sensitive to changes in hormones, just as if you were having your cycle as normal, causing the bleeding. She said the big plus was it meant the bleeding was nowhere near the baby and the integrity of the cervix was totally safe. Easy to say, but I still remember how horrid the bleeds were. Hoping yours stop soon..

cep · 09/06/2011 21:41

evening ladies.

welcome crazy and bronp and congratulations.
crazy i'm so sorry about your mum. I'm glad you're finding things to help you relax when you can. I hope you're all getting lots of support.
bronp The only advice i can really think of, is don't be too worried to ask questions or not agree to something you don't want. Don't be pushed into anything.

caz i think cervical erosion is technically quite harmless, just worrying obviously cause of the bleeding. I know what you feel about the dr's comments. Before getting my bfp i got diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis and the dr gave me some info about it but wasn't going to give any meds at that point. While reading i noticed it said can cause miscarriage. So phoned her back up and discussed it, and she said "but as you haven't had any i wouldn't worry" i said "had any what" "miscarriages" "but i have, in december" "oh yeah you have haven't you." this was 1-2 days after having a big chat with her about trying again after the miscarriage.

i'm very restricted about mat wear as i'm large anyway, but i've ordered a few tops cause i like them and they'll be alright to wear afterwards i reckon anyway.

I'm not finding out colour so will update stats to say so.

sunshinehugs · 09/06/2011 21:44

Hello everyone, just popping on, its been a while and I am off to Dublin tomorrow for four days so it will probably take me another while to catch up when I am back :o, we are at a wedding on Saturday and the groom is coeliac caliphora you can get coeliac beer from Waitrose. He says it's almost as good as the real thing. Will be one of the last mini breaks with just me and DP so really looking forward to it!!

Caz I had bleeding from cervical erosion before I was pregnant too due to the pill.

Anyone else hating pelvic floor exercises? It gives me the creeps! Guess it has to be done though! I can't stop when peeing mid flow so a bit worried its all a bit slack in that department! (sorry if TMI Blush)

Welcome all the newcomers and hope everyone is blessed with luck and good health this week. Keep up the PMA won't you. xxx

SnoozleDoozle · 09/06/2011 22:40

This PMA thing seems to have come at the wrong time for me. I've kept reasonably positive throughout this pregnancy (and I'm someone who has a horrendous history of anxiety etc!) but reached total meltdown this evening. And what caused this? I fell off my step at my step aerobics class and wrecked my ankle. And I just felt like such a fool, like 'why am I doing this, what was I thinking?' And then I got all weepy and couldn't stop crying, right in the middle of my class. So Blush

Anyway, I know some of you have real, proper problems, and seeing me post this probably will have you thinking 'what a lunatic' but I just wanted to get it off my chest.

TerrysNo2 · 09/06/2011 22:52

Oh you guys are talking way to fast for me to keep up!!

I am off on holiday on Saturday so won't be able to post until I get back. 20 week scan on 27th June (when I will be 21+3) and maternity leave starting on 4th August so hope I can be more chatty then!

Good luck to everyone who has scans coming up and hope everyone and bumps stay well. xxx

PamSco · 10/06/2011 00:19

Aah snoozle sorry to hear about your ankle - ice and elevation m'dear and forget about Blush big hug.

Caz what a pain to know you will be bleeding through out, but hopefully a bit of relief that you have a diagnose, snoozle share that hug :)

I did yoga tonight and class was chatty yay! shame that is the last of teh term for me as I'll be away next week. My last day of work today for 2 weeks, I'm swooning with joy at that! Very nervous about amnio tomorrow, I'm just praying there is more space down there than 2 weeks ago. If we cancel tomorrow then I'll have to can my holiday - which is paid for! So FX.

Had just the one codeine at lunchtime today and felt fine all day and nigt - very happy about this. I'd parked by a fave Thai restaurant for yoga and got tempted by a Tom Kah Gai soup and Chicken Massaman Curry for tea. Ok I couldn't finish it but that is the first meal I've had since the 26th May. I had to go to sleep straight away so the pain could pass unnoticed but I've kept it down. PMA rocks!

chipmonkey · 10/06/2011 00:26

Welcome new people! Grin

Caz I am glad that at least you know what is causing the bleeding. I had bleeding in my third trimester with ds3 which turned out to be placenta praevia but I didn't know that till after I had him. Not knowing why I was bleeding was so worrying. Great to hear Xander's heartbeat is good and that he is a healthy baba!

crazy so sorry about your Mum.Sad So much more difficult for you when you are pregnant because I think we all rely on our Mums for support when we have babies and to have her so ill must be like having a rug pulled out from under you.

BuffyFan · 10/06/2011 11:08

Hello ladies! I am slacking working from home today as my 16-week MW appt is at lunchtime, and it's too far to get to work and back again twice.

In reality I am completely failing to do any work so am instead writing a list of things to talk to the MW about. I've been the quiet one politely doing as she's told so far, but that's no good frankly as there's things I'm clueless about. Oh she's gonna love me...

So here's what I've got so far:
(1) OK, you've told me I need to get the quad test, but not told me where / who / how - what am I supposed to do?
(2) I'm knackered and tearful - what can I do and should I be worried?
(3) You took my bloods & urine a month ago - any results or did they get lost in the ether?
(4) I don't even know where to start thinking about a birth plan - please help!

And less seriously...
(5) Where is my Bounty book and pack??

So, I'm sure we can cover all that in the 6 minutes I suspect I'll be given...

Sorry, not very PMA - here's some more positive stuff! DH has spent the morning ripping out the built in wardrobe in the spare room, to make space for all the stuff that's currently in the soon-to-be-nursery (currently my study / workroom / dumping ground). Progress against the list of things that need to happen before November!

PoppysMom · 10/06/2011 11:18

I updated the stats.

Buffy, you are entitled to ask questions. I asked my doctor (we don't get a midwife) all my random questions last week.
Took a whopping 30 minutes! And all this before I got to see Poppy :)

I hope you can get all the answers you need.

Good luck with the appointment.

BTW, writing a list of questions is work, no? Wink

BuffyFan · 10/06/2011 11:37

Thanks PoppysMom. I'm definitely treating it as work of sorts :o

Sorry for the self-absorbed post btw! Welcome to newcomers! Caz I'm glad you're at least got a diagnosis of sorts.

Exciting to hear about what colour some of your bumps are! I feel left behind a little at only 16+3!

Am I mad to think I can already feel my lump moving around? I've felt loads of little flutters which could be anything, but in reality I've never felt "gas" like this before...

And thanks for all of your stories and experiences with Drs, MWs, consultants and how things can go during birth - not soapboxing at all, it's fantastic for those of us on pg #1 to learn from all your experiences.

PoppysMom · 10/06/2011 12:00

Buffy, it isn't too early. I felt movement first at 14+3 :)
Enjoy

Bluetinkerbell · 10/06/2011 12:37

waw this thread is going soooo fast!

Don't know where to start to reply to everything that's been happening!

One more week to go until my 20 week scan! Getting very excited!
We'll see if my friend's hand reading predictions will be true Wink
She's been scaring me with very accurate readings with other people...

I felt first movements around 12 weeks, so those further along you can probably feel the little one! ( It is my second though)

My DD 2,5 asked me this morning if I was going to leave the baby home... she was so cute, explained to her that the baby still needs to stay in my tummy until it's ready to come out. She loves creaming my belly with stretchmark cream in the morning and talks to the baby while doing it.

I'm still extremely tired and I've got 4 very busy weekends ahead... last 3 of them being wedding, sister's hen do, wedding...
I had ordered a dress on Asos, it arrived, but was too big and too long, I guess I'm not used to English sizes yet Wink so have ordered another dress

Hope everyone enjoys their upcoming weekend!
