pam so sorry to hear what you are going through!! Is there any chance it will get better by itself? or will you need surgery? I really hope you feel better quickly, my good friend had gall stones and said it was the worst pain she'd had:( - and shes a mum

I can def feel my bump too:) Bubba moves around and I often have a lopsided bump when I wake up. Have felt him/her move about 4 times now but never for very long and only a very light fluttery/falling feeling so not 100% sure...

As for cloth nappies - has anyone used a service that picks the dirty ones up and gives you new ones? That sounds good to me (haven't looked at location or cost yet).

suziechan · 30/05/2011 19:03

Hello everyone,
Sorry to hear people aren't feeling well (Pam hope you feel better soon x) Fingers crossed this 2nd trimester brings some rest for you all!

Just thought I'd share this - was doing a bit of a google on nappy laundries and found this list of councils that have schemes :

www.fill-your-pants.com/councilnappyincentives.html

Can't actually find a laundry yet in my area...but a good start and always good to know of some council freebies!

Take care everyone!

smilingcl · 30/05/2011 19:18

Hello Ladies,

Hope you feel better soon pamsco, gallstones sound horribly uncomfortable.

Am 17+4 today, my bump feels almost like a proper bump now although I've still only put on a kilo. I don't feel hungrier yet, now the nausea's over and I don't eat to stop feeling sick, I think I'm eating like I did before apart from in smaller but more regular portions. I'm really enjoying wearing maternity clothes that flatter the bump rather than my normal clothes which make me look like I have my university beer belly back.

Have been thinking about the 20 week scan and whether to find out the sex of the baby or not and have finally settled on no, lets go for the big surprise. I feel really excited about that now, I'm looking forward to the omg it's a xxx! moment :)

I think I'm well into the blooming period now, the only negative side effects I've got are heartburn and dizzyness. I get dizzy when I don't eat regularly hence the small and often portions.

Oh and I can defo feel it moving around now, feels like a goldfish in a goldfish bowl!

Roll on wk 20!

bumpandisaacsmum · 30/05/2011 19:21

pam I hope that you are being looked after in the hosp, and that the meds are helping with the pain & that the MW remembered the doppler x x

just yay for hearing the HB on your doppler :) I have been really tempted to get one but then remembered that I have my own stethoscope - and although it'll a few more weeks til I can hear the HB through the steth - I can use it during the longer wait between 20week scan & having baby (my pg book says that you can hear using a steth from between 20-22weeks)

Have had at least daily feelings of movements for a few days :o I was watching DS "perform music" to his teddies yesterday & baby started moving; then today DS & DP were rolling on the floor playing & DS giggling set baby off again.... so pleased that baby already responding to the loud noises of big bro (though I know baby won't be able to distinguish the noises yet...the only time we get loud in this household is DS playing music & laughing). These feelings of movement have felt 'bigger' than the flutterings I feel at other times & almost feel like proper movements!!

Has anyone looked into antenatal/parentcraft sessions??? Round here the NHS ones are 2x 4hour sessions, which doesn't seem to bad expecially as they are on the weekend therefore no need to take time off work & DP can come without hassle (I know some areas aren't so generous for 2nd timers). Am considering looking into NCT classes but they seem a lot of money, especially as my reasons are for DP to know what to expect (as this is his 1st) & for socialising with other mums due the same time!! Not sure whether the price is worth it..... the NCT do other "meet ups" in our area, both for mums/dads & mums/dads-to-be..... so many decisions to make Confused

SnoozleDoozle · 30/05/2011 19:35

Pamsco hope you are feeling better today, and getting some relief from the pain. I should have said in my earlier post that I was on strong pain relief for most of my pg and DD is just fine, she suffered no ill effects whatsoever. And I don't feel guilty about it either - I didn't take it lightly, but I simply couldn't have got through it otherwise, no matter what other people have tried to tell me. Good luck.

Caliphora · 30/05/2011 21:02

18 weeks today! Went away LARPing this weekend (cross country pantomime!), and spent my weekend in a field. Bump is there, definitely, I can feel where the little Sprout is, and it's started some sort of routine of moving around at set times.

DP is so elated to be able to "locate" baby now - most of the time it's all happy sighs and "That's my baby!"

chipmonkey · 30/05/2011 22:26

This thread keeps droppping off my "Threads I'm On"!

Pam hope you're feeling better soon.

I can feel this baby occasionally but really very tiny fluttery movements, and I'm pretty sure it was more obvious in my previous pregnancies. When I had the nuchal scan and a recent mini-scan the baby did seem to be moving so I'm really not sure why I'm not feeling it so much. Am wondering now about anterior placenta and am hoping my previous CS scar won't cause trouble. Must add to List of Things To Ask at the 20 week scan.

H007 · 31/05/2011 14:09

Heard the baby's heartbeat today, one word AMAZING!!

TerrysNo2 · 31/05/2011 14:14

Hello all!

goldmaple I used a nappy laundry service when DS was first born and it was great, they delivered clean nappies and took away dirty ones. I bought my own when he was 3mo and I felt I could cope with them myself.

I am 17+4 today and I think I have been getting feelings the last few days. Also it keeps turning over and I can feel a hard bit on the left hand side of my tummy when it does!

PamSco · 31/05/2011 16:31

Thank you lovely people. Just being discharged with a bag of dihydrocodeine for future attacks, which I will have. Though the scans have shown lower risk types of stones so no urgent surgery required. I'll be passing sludge for a good while ouch.

Went for my amnio today but couldn't have it because the placenta is all across the front so no needle access. I was gutted and weepy as I need that to ne over. Another 10 day wait.

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 31/05/2011 17:18

Glad to hear that they discharged you pam, although boo to the no amnio, fingers crossed that you have more luck the next time :)

I have a cold, it's pants, no decongestants :(

neverinamillionyears · 31/05/2011 17:19

Hi all

1st post but have been reading this for a while and laughing along the way along with a few lumps in my throat. 1st baby at the grand old age of 38, never one to rush things. It took me two years to decide to buy a steam generator iron, well I already had a normal iron that worked, what was the fuss all about? Anway due date is 26th November and I've had to be office bound at work for the last 8 weeks which is driving me nuts already so it helps reading all your posts.

I do hope some of the ladies on here have some good news soon. Take good care.

cookie9 · 31/05/2011 17:21

Glad to hear you are out of hospital pamsco but really sorry they couldn't do the amnio.
Been ok day here. Had some pain earlier but warm bath helped me. One of my friends who has three kids is going to give me her pregnancy books so looking forward to reading them.
Quite jealous of those who can feel baby move already. Hopefully my time will come soon.

Truffkin · 31/05/2011 19:04

Hi Ladies, feels like I've been offline for ages but I think is only about a week in real life! I had a pretty sickly weekend so have taken a sick day today to try to rest up and get back to a manageable state. Am now 15+4 and still being sick every day, so although I am able to anticipate and manage it kind of ok by now, I'm starting to worry that it might carry on for the whole pregnancy - eek I really hope not!

Welcome Never and congratulations! Sorry you're not yourself at work, but feel free to vent on here as we're always happy to listen!

I have my 16 week midwife appointment next Tuesday when I'll be 16+4 and I've booked the day off as holiday as I wouldn't be able to get to work until at least half 12 so thought I might as well take a full day. My husband has emailed me today to say he's also booked the day off so he can come with me (we both can't want to hear the heartbeat for the first time) and then we can go for a wander round some shops and start to get a feel for the kinds of equipment we will need to buy. I think he may not have quite got into his head the level of savings we will need to have just to buy stuff (I'm thinking we will need around £1,600 to cover the essentials including cot, pram, car seat, feeding stuff, nappies (re-useables) etc, etc) but am hoping we can get this down if we shop around, as this is based on high street prices.

Pam am so sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time at the moment, I really hope you can get some relief soon now you are home and am sending big hugs to you. Good luck for the amnio in a couple of weeks.

Jamama I would really love to have an Amby baby nest and my Mom has offered to buy one from us, which is really lovely. I'm quite tempted to get one off ebay as they are going for about £60 and there seem to be quite a few in London, so we could pick up fairly easily. Even buying new bedding and a mattress, this would save us about £100 compared to new, which we could then put towards one of the many other things we will need to get! I've ben amazed to see the range of prices for prams (although less surprised to see that my taste is for the most expensive ones Hmm of course!)

As I've not posted for a little while I don't think I mentioned that our nuchal results came back as low risk, no further action needed. I think our stats were 1/6500 or similar, so am happy with that analysis! I can't feel any movement at the moment but am not expecting anything for at least another few weeks. I am looking forward to it, but also think it will be really strange too Shock

We visited my Mom at the weekend and she has started to stockpile a little collection of stuff for us to have once the baby arrives. She's already got vests, babygros, a little pram suit, wipes and some newborn nappies (we'll use disposables for the first week or so) plus she's started knitting - can't wait to see her tiny little creations! My sister is also so convinced that we're having a girl that she's bought a little girl outfit already! We're not planning to find out the sex so she has a long wait to see if she's right Grin

neverinamillionyears · 31/05/2011 19:22

Thanks Truffkin, my job will now be office bound until I return to work. Unfortunately I can't do my normal job so just have to put up with it. It's ok though. Your family sound lovely collecting all those bits, how sweet. Have a lovely day looking at all the stuff, will be very confusing!

BuffyFan · 31/05/2011 21:07

Evening all! It's been a while since I've posted what with the bank holiday weekend and a long week at work last week. Welcome to new ladies - I think there's been about 3 since I was last on here!

The MW couldn't get a NT reading at my dating scan, so I've got to ring about getting the blood test done. All very well but I'm not sure who to ring?!

I'm 15 weeks today, and can sometimes feel a lump (not quite a bump yet...). So relieved to hear some of you say it moves around, as I was worrying I kept losing it! 16 week appt is next Friday so fx for a heartbeat! Lots of questions to ask as well, I hope they know I'm gonna take a while! I know I've put on weight but given that my weight was measured at my dating scan when I had a seriously full bladder, I'm hoping it will even out Wink

I was onsite with a client two days last week, and the same again this week - good fun and I don't get to get out of the office very often, but tiring as you've got to be on your best behaviour all day. Roll on the weekend.

DH has now finished his exams for an HNC, so we can start planning properly! Lots to do and it would be very easy to start to panic...

I seem to be getting over the worst of the first trimester, although I'm another one with constant headaches to replace the queasiness. Still permanently knackered, and "business time" generally off the menu as I'm asleep before DH even comes to bed. Speaking of bed.... night night all!

chipmonkey · 31/05/2011 22:45

neverinamillion welcome! Keep posting!Grin

PoppysMom · 01/06/2011 01:47

Welcome Never!

Really sorry about your having to go through this PAM. I hope that amnio can be done next week. Fx

I have a scan today and I cannot wait! 15 weeks and I have been having an evergrowing bump for a while now. I haven't put any weight on yet, so I am not sure where I am losing it from, as I seem to be bigger all round. Oh well, I will ask the doctor today if I should be worried.

I will also get my NT results today hopefully and my maternity certificate.

We were discussing maternity leave a while back and I have informed my employer that I will indeed be leaving. I am already severely struggling with the heat in Singapore and I am only just getting over my tiredness from the first trimester.

I hat a good week 3 weeks ago, but then it went back to being exhausted and in bed by 8-9pm :(

I hope everyone else is feeling well

cookie9 · 01/06/2011 08:42

Doppler just arrived and found heartbeat almost straight away. It is like a galloping horse. Had thought baby was on my right side but heart beat was towards the left side. Dh can't wait to get home to listen

neverinamillionyears · 01/06/2011 08:43

Hi all.

Poppysmom - I'm always in bed by 9pm (usually hanging by then) these days but up early, I blame the damn tweeting birds in the morning. I wish they would start at 8am and not 4am. Maybe I should put a note on my bedroom window. Enjoy the scan!

I'm sure all the NT results will come through positively and then its another sigh of relief you can do. I got mine back last week which came back as not high risk, very happy considering I'm an oldie. Got my Amazon delivery yesterday and yes I crumbled and bought a doppler. I found the hb straight away, it was lovely to hear. Also in the parcel I bought a DVD, its a 10 minute prenatal pilates. Now considering the last time I 'tried' pilates I fell off the ball and made the whole class laugh, I think having emergency services on standby won't be a bad idea. If you hear a loud crash from the Essex area then don't worry its just me attempting to exercise. After my 10 minute exercise programme I'll be treating myself to getting my hair done. Well I would've worked hard for it by then.

So, is anyone else worried that they haven't got a clue about motherhood? I keep reading about birth/labour/breastfeeding/sleep patterns/top n tail/nappies disposable or re-usable?/travel system? or pram?/amby nest or moses basket/ play music to baby in classical of whimsical/baby names/the list goes on and on and on and on. Gah! I know I have plenty oftime but I just can't seem to get me head round it. Will someone just give me a to do list pleas and I'll stick with it. Confused

neverinamillionyears · 01/06/2011 08:44

Cookie9 - It's great hearing it isn't it?

Caliphora · 01/06/2011 12:06

Oh guys, you've made me so tempted to get a doppler! What makes/prices have you got?

Working evenings at the moment - booo! Having house guest too, equals double tired!

mashpot · 01/06/2011 13:29

Oh gosh I'm so tempted to buy a Doppler too, please can people share which they bought? Maybe I could sneak it in with the order for my pregnancy yoga dvd!

I was just looking on the topshop website for some maternity jeans too as none of mine now fit but they don't have them in stock in my size - does anyone in London know if the Oxford Circus branch stocks maternity? I may pop along if so and try to get a pair before the weekend as I am practically living in pyjamas at the moment!

I need to try and move the date of my 20 week scan as it looks like I will be moving house! As I will be almost 22 weeks on the date they gave me I hope I can pull it forward. What is the latest you should have the 20 week, anyone know?

I am also still v early to bed and also still eating too much!

pam pleased you are out of hospital, hope you continue to get better and hope everyone else is looking after themselves, especially Truffkin and others with ms, hope it disappears soon.

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 01/06/2011 15:11

My doppler just arrived this morning too! I've got the AngelSounds one from Amazon see here It came with a little tube of gel and headphones, everything you need to get started. I found the heartbeat within a couple of minutes, despite having no idea where the baby was before I started looking! I'm 15+2, so still pretty early to be able to find it Grin

Pam, you have my eternal sympathy with the gallstones, my mum was very ill with them a couple of years ago, I can't imagine having to deal with that at the same time as being pregnant.

Truff, you aren't the only one still being sick every day, although I feel better than I did 6 weeks ago. I keep thinking its nearly worn off, but not quite yet. I also have really bad heartburn at various stages, in some ways I think thats worse that the vomiting.

Hope everyone else is ok, xxx

bumpandisaacsmum · 01/06/2011 17:53

Thanks for that link lizzy my DH has agreed we can get one at that price :)

I too am joining lizzy & truffkin on still feeling the effects of ms...mainly when driving (not great when driving is part of the day to day job), tiredness & if I have a headache :( I've had a constant headache for 3 days whuch has meant also constant ms....have been drinking loads but made no difference & paracetamol hasn't helped either so who knows??

On a brighter note am doing aquanatal tomorrow after work & it's great as my colleague who is 2weeks pg younger than me is also coming for 1st time tomorrow so I won't be on my own :)

And my MW wants me to have an additional appt with her next week so am really happy about that too.

pam glad you are home, hope you are ok x x
Also hope others who have been ill are getting better x x
