Will this be the final thread?!? I somehow think not, with more and more people starting on maternity leave, we have time for a good few more methinks!

Glad you've got some time off the ward Moufflon. Fingers crossed you get your waterbirth :)

Moog72 · 15/05/2011 15:39

Wow - this thread has been so busy this weekend!

Cameli - congratulations - hope you are recovering well.

Moufflon - good luck - hope the negotiations go as planned - can you still get your waterbirth do you think?

All fine with me. Walked about 6 or 7 miles yesterday and then had really strong uncomfortable braxton hicks all evening - maybe over did it?

petitech · 15/05/2011 16:15

Hi everyone, what a difference a day makes!
Cameli congrats - lovely name :) Moufflon hope you get some rest before the action starts again and look forward to hearing your news.
No news here, I'm still waddling around and not expecting any action for a couple weeks, 37+2 today (famous last words) Have finally managed to get in touch with my ante-natal group, most of whom were due earlier than me so nice to hear their news of arrivals trickling through.
Just been out for lunch with parents-in-law only to have them suggest that DH go up and do some jobs for them during his 2 week paternity leave, I think it was a joke but not a smart comment in my current hormonal state :)
Wishing every well x

Cameli - congratulations!! Seren Elizabeth is a beautiful name Smile

Leroy - any update on your friend's lo?

Crazy - so sorry about your friend's baby, they must be so worried, I hope she will make good progress very soon.

Jasmine - sorry about your granddad, he did live to a grand old age, I bet he must have had some wonderful stories. How sad for your cousins though that it was the same day as their father Sad

Moufflon - keeping my fingers crossed for you that all goes well, sorry you can't have your waterbirth!

Hope everyone else is keeping well.

Joannezipan · 15/05/2011 18:01

Cameli congratulations I love your name choice. :) Moufflon hope things get moving soon, and that the consultant is sensible and lets you have a birth pool! Jas Sorry to hear about your grandad, but i'm glad you got to see him.

We have had a productive day today, we did NCT homework, wrote our birth plan and worked out where to put the birthing pool in the living room. We only need to move half the furniture so that's good. Hopefully I'll actually get round to some dusting today too...if not then never mind. I have my next midwife appointment on Wednesday, so hopefully I can discuss my plan with her then. Hopefully we will be covering the 3rd stage in NCT on tuesday so we can make some decisions about that before I see her. I'm not sure how much detail she will want to go into at my appointment or if she will want to see me again to talk about home birth stuff. A question for other home birthers, are you guys having gass and air at home? Someone I work with was told when she had hers that the chemist could only give her enough for if she needed stitches so not to rely on having it for any period of time. Anyone else heard of this, or was she being fobbed off by someone rubbish?

NurseSunshine · 15/05/2011 18:04

Joanne sounds like rubbish to me, but perhaps things are different depending on what area you live in? Ask your midwife but mine said she'd bring round enough for the entire labour.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 15/05/2011 18:23

Joanne the info I've been sent in the post for homebirth says I'll have 2 cannisters of G&A. I'm sure that's far more than just enough for stitches. But then every local NHS thingy is different so .

Well my sister has been and gone. I haven't seen her in over 2 years so it was good to catch up, but I'm exhausted. She talks a lot! Now just trying to relax before the in-laws arrive for the day tomorrow. DH has been told if DS wakes up again tonight, he's getting kicked so that I can stay asleep (DS woke up thirsty at 4am and I of course didn't get back to sleep for ages).

I had an interesting interlude this afternoon, when my efforts in the bathroom took 5 flushes and the plunger to clear the toilet. Pregnancy gut really is disgusting charming!

PerpetualProvocateur · 15/05/2011 18:26

Congratulations cameli! I?m sorry things didn?t go to plan, but how wonderful to be home now and snuggling with your DD.

Sorry about your granddad Jasmine. So sad, but good that you got to visit him one last time.

Good luck with the move, Supersunny. I hope you get somewhat settled before the baby arrives!

Crazychic, I hope your friend is okay and her baby will pull through.

BPrincess · 15/05/2011 19:14

Congratulations Confessions! sounds like all that pushing paid off and you let loose a sturdy specimen...

Just put finishing touches to nursery and it's looking lovely. 38 weeks today, so shouldn't be long now until the very final finishing touch!

NurseSunshine · 15/05/2011 19:22

Wow confessions that's pretty... er... impressive? Grin

BPrincess I'm both impressed and envious at your nursery efforts. What's your colour scheme? I'm still struggling to put away the baby clothes after washing them!

Moog72 · 15/05/2011 19:31

Joanne I agree that sounds like rubbish. I am told the midwife will have enough gas and air to last several hours...

HalleLouja · 15/05/2011 19:49

Moufflon you sound like the girl in the bed diagonal from ne. She only had one hour of maternity leave before her waters broke. She was also 37 weeks tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

jasmine51 · 15/05/2011 19:54

Joanne and Confessions DH says 2 cannisters of entonox is about an hours worth if you are using it heavily so thats a bit rubbish...see if you can clarify and negotiate more, it isnt considered a controlled drug so there really shouldnt be a max limit...except the cannisters themselves are expensive and work on a deposit system so people tend to get protective of them.

I cant compete with confessions 'achievement' but have just managed to freak out DH for the second time in 2 days. I mentioned that I needed another poo (3rd today) and he is keen to know the gory details and if it is the start of pre labour diarrhoea, bless.. at least it proves he was paying attention in the NCT class yesterday.

Thanks for all the messages re grandad. It is sad Nurse that they arent going to meet our new little ones but when I sat with him yesterday I told him it would be ok to go and that he would be closer to us in that way than remaining trapped in his worn out body. I feel peaceful about it all, I hope you are feeling the same way.

knackered76 · 15/05/2011 20:50

Moufflon Oh my gosh, how very exciting Grin Fingers crossed it all goes well and you get the water birth you want.

Cameli Huge congratulations Grin What a beautiful name you have chosen as well. Hope your recovery is going well, take it as easy as you can and sleep whenever you can!

Jasmine Sorry to hear of your Grandad but pleased you feel at peace with it.

Hallelouja How are you today? Any news on what's going on?

Crazy :( How stressful for your friend. Fingers crossed all works out well.

Bit of a moan from me as I'm feeling hormonally sorry for myself. I sneaked a surprise photo shoot with the dc's so we could get a nice picture of us and the bump to give to dh. They are ready to be viewed now so decided I would tell dh as we often have different ideas on what looks nice and seeing as it's for him I thought maybe he should choose. So I told him and showed him the tiny image on the website they put up as a 'taster'. His reaction . . . 'well it's all a waste of money anyway isn't it.' Well that's certainly one way to take the wind out of my sails :( I have decided the way to exact revenge is to not have gas and air during labour and make damn well sure he feels every contraction I have just, if not more, painfully then I am feeling them . . . . . right off to find implements to pack into the back to make sure that happens Grin

BPrincess · 15/05/2011 21:36

Nurse we haven't painted the room at all. It used to be the room we used as a computer room and had been painted cream with one wall a kind of cappuccino colour. So all the same. Cot has fawn spotted bumper set, and I've added a few pink nik-naks and there's a wooden blind. Woodwork is cream, so just a nice calm scheme with bits of pink and coffee colours. One day I'm sure it'll be bright pink all over, whether I like it or not!

Knackered take no notice - their ways are not our ways. They just don't appreciate these things!

Hmmm, poo stories. Like all of us I reckon, I'm on the lookout for 'soft offerings' and keep hoping... nothing yet though. Poo watch continues...

MrsNoggin · 15/05/2011 21:52

I've only been offline for a couple of days and there are pages and pages to catch up on!

Congratulations Cameli!!! Sorry to hear about the bad side of things, I had similar with DD1. You must have loads and loads of rest! Smile

Thinking of you Moufflon, and getting all excited. Things are on the move!

Can't believe we are finally getting to the point of popping these babies out! It's only just hit me. Mind you, I completely forgot I was pregnant earlier. Reached down to scratch my tummy and wondered what I had eaten to make me so bloated. I had to stare bemusedly the hugeness of my bump before it occurred to me why I was so fat! I must be more tired than I think! Grin

DH just relayed his work schedule to me over the phone. He's been gone for two weeks and will be back in a week or so for five days for our wedding (so he's not really DH yet, but I've referred to him like that for years!). Then he's off again the day after and will return when I'm 39 and a bit weeks! Needless to say, I'm not chuffed. In fact, I'm fairly concerned. After the trauma of last time and being so far from a hospital with no transport, I'm getting quite stressed about it. I reminded him how high risk this labour could be with our history and he comforted me with the fact that when I call him he can get here on the train within five hours. Hopefully. Hmmm, very reassured Hmm.

Milliemuffin · 15/05/2011 21:58

Just had to share this... My diary has gone walkabout so I asked DP if he'd seen it and his responses were 'It has to be in the house somewhere' (very helpful, thanks) and 'I definitely haven't moved it because I haven't tidied anything away since...' (I remember using it on the 4th may)

Does he not realise that's not something he should be admitting to! It lives downstairs so there's a 50/50 chance that he put it somewhere without even thinking. arrrggghhhh!! men!! sorry, had to get that off my chest. xx

8rubberduckies · 15/05/2011 21:58

Yay! 48 hours off the thread and 1 baby arrived and one on the way! Congratulations Cameli, I also love your name choice, and hope you are recovering after what sounds like a difficult time of it. Thinking of you over the next few days Moufflon, hope to hear some good news from you soon, and hope you manage to get going naturally before beign induced.

Jasmine sorry about your Grandad.

Thanks for your lovely comments yesterday Knackered Smile. I am shipping ds off to my Mum's tomorrow night so I can rest but am going to treat him to his favourite park on the way over and a big fat icecream to make up for it Grin.

HalleLouja · 15/05/2011 22:06

Knackered am home as no more bleeding. Hopefully won't be going back until dc is born.

DH has been nesting. Think he is getting scared by impending arrival. Or just wants to be organised. He did a great job with ds in my absence.

sasamaxx · 15/05/2011 22:37

I am so tired i can't even remember who I've replied to or who I meant to reply to and forgot.
Suffice to say, hope you're all well Grin
I really did just read all your news but have promptly forgotten it

mouffloncake · 15/05/2011 22:38

Halle good meeting you today! Very jealous of you being at home. They have just brought a lady in who's very vocal. No chance of sleep tonight so will be a long tiresome day tomorrow.
Please let me start contracting tonight do I don't have to be induced tomorrow!

HalleLouja · 16/05/2011 01:27

You will be seeing me as my body can't keep away from that hospital.

mouffloncake · 16/05/2011 02:22

Uh ho. Want to say welcome back but that's not what you need to hear?!
Vocal lady being sent to delivery suite now as hit 4cm. I'm sure she said just now it started on 12th!!
Still no twinges from me. Just feel sick & hungry. Still more water dribbling out but nice & clear x

Merlion · 16/05/2011 04:07

Moufflon sending you contraction vibes for today and hope you managed to get some sleep!

I have another check-up with the doctor today for blood pressure and protein. 37 weeks today. I packed my bag last night. I think I over-did it a bit yesterday too trying to put Ikea furniture together for the nursery with DH.

Milliemuffin · 16/05/2011 07:31

For the last 1/2 day ish my nipple that leaked has been incredibly sore, like I've been feeding for hours on end. It doesn't look any different I just get an incredibly sharp sting if I touch it. Bit weird.

Hoping everyone has a good day today x
