Will this be the final thread?!? I somehow think not, with more and more people starting on maternity leave, we have time for a good few more methinks!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sasamaxx · 24/05/2011 21:29

You can't eat all of it MOSP it will give you a sore mouth - it's a much better idea to use some of it for our scientific experiment Grin

Concert was FAB btw

bananarama05 · 24/05/2011 21:48

Thank you for the positive vibes, I got slightly over excited about a possible twinge earlier... but nothing since. Still holding out for a rude awakening at 3am :)

Misshooha TMI as well but I noticed quite a bit more going on over the last week or so, so perhaps it could be a sign of things to come? And my waters were (and still are, how much can there possibly be?!) clear.

motherof I've had DP reading up on that site this afternoon and been squeezing away at my thumb point after recommendation from another MN'er after a wailing post on the childbirth board this afternoon :) Also, you have to eat like 8 whole pineapples for them to have an effect so you're so much better off trying whatever this other idea is Wink

Perpetual sex is out the window after your waters break due to an increased risk of infection sadly. I've so far avoided all mention of nipple tweaking around DP thank god as have no doubt he'd think it sounds like a fab idea!

Right come on baby, time to come out now.....

takethatlady · 24/05/2011 22:14

Oh ladies thank you all so much for the comments about my rant :) Just what I needed to hear. DH has Ofsted tomorrow but he phoned the guy no less than ten times in a desperate attempt to get through and he's coming next Wednesday to do it :) Then he said very sheepishly, 'thank God he finally answered. That man did not realise the trouble he was getting me into ....' Grin I think every pregnant lady is allowed one nesting rant, surely? :) citizenoscar and banana I hope the work gets done at your end too - I can only sympathise. Wish i'd just left the house as it was!

kara I know - that thread is SO going to haunt me Grin. I just think it's funny how traumatic birth stories are a faux pas but people can't wait to tell you their traumatic newborn stories! Just wanted a bit of hope it has its plus sides. Maybe 'fun' was the wrong word with hindsight - it certainly pissed a few people off Blush. congrats on your lo being the right way round by the way :)

neenewps Shock at the wind! I know a man who can do your shed roof for you Grin Angry

confessions so sorry to hear about your cyst - but if you can only get rid of fanjo or leg pain, i'm glad it's the fanjo and not the leg. Every cloud ....

I'm confused about the pineapple now. Are we meant to eat or rub?

Thornykate · 24/05/2011 22:15

kara I had to lol at thought of waters breaking on client, as long as it's at the end of her appointment when she has paid haha!

moog hope you got reference sorted I expect they are looking for testimonies demonstrating good parenting characteristics like patience, stability & other stuff that prospective adoptive parents are expected to have in ten fold compared to the rest of the population Hmm you must be flattered to have been asked & I hope it goes to plan for them

I can't believe that I have now forgotten everything I read & meant to reply too... How embarrassing!

I bought clary sage & epo today to intensify the annoying niggly tightenings I have been having on & off. After applying few drops of oil in a carrier everything stopped again. Why is My body working backwards?

And how on earth am I supposed to get the contents of an epo capsule onto my cervix? Surely it's a long way up there to just squirt it in? Or do I use turkey baster? I had my nails done today so must exercise caution & I don't plan to be furtling about any more than necessary so any advice appreciated :)

Thornykate · 24/05/2011 22:17

FWIW I don't recall any if these direct application of foodstuffs onto cervix back when I was expecting 1st DSs 12 & 16 yrs ago.. Who even thinks of these things?!

Thornykate · 24/05/2011 22:22

PS confessions your poor fanjo :( wishing you a speedy recovery

Joannezipan · 24/05/2011 22:28

Thorny I think you just shove it up there as it is before bed and it dissolves over night from what i've read...you need a different name shortening in that context - owch!

I'm sorry but i'm too tired to reply to everything tonight...but quick recap...I saw the MW - all go for home birth as long as i get to thursday Hmm, scan tomorrow morning and as long as babbit isn't breech I'm alright. Now off to bed, 4am seems like a long time ago!

motherofsnortpigs · 24/05/2011 22:38

sasa I now have a very sore mouth :) I am glad you enjoyed the Wiggles.

crazychic141187 · 24/05/2011 22:54

Apparently if you get a sore mouth whilst eating pineapple it's an oral allergy to it! I thought it happened to everyone until my sister pointed this out to me (and after dp laughed at me loads)!

Off to bed now, really suffering with my IBS at the minute so I've constantly got pains in my abdomen so god knows how I'm suppose to distinguish this pain from contraction pains!

crumbletastic · 25/05/2011 07:39

Its not an oral allergy crazy, it has an enzyme in it that breaks down protein in your skin which is why it can be used for tenderising meat. It does happen to eveyone but maybe some people are more sensitive to it, or are not chewing their food properly for it to take effect so laugh right back at them!

No news here, hope something kicked off for somebody else overnight

Merlion · 25/05/2011 07:58

Banana good luck this afternoon if nothing happens beforehand.

Thorny/Joanne am now confused as to whether you're talking about EPO or pineapple Grin!

Moog hope you got your submission done - if not is it worth a thread on the adoptions board on here - I'm sure many have been through it and will know what they are looking for if you need some pointers - I agree a lovely thing to be able to help with I hope it works out for your friends.

Penultimate day at work for me - woohoo!

Crazy sorry to hear you're not feeling so good.

neenewps · 25/05/2011 07:59

Morning everyone

Any news from banana overnight? Have been thinking of you.

joanne Glad to hear that it is all systems go for your HB.

confessions your fanjo sounds very painful. Hope it gets better soon.

All this pineapple talk has made me :o I can't eat pineapple as it gives me a really bad stomach ache. Although I do really love it.

28 days today I chalked on the board.... DH has gone a business trip to Southampton today, luckily for the day only so that bliddy ash cloud had better stay away as I want him to get back home later today! He has also just reminded me that he has business trip down south on 7th June which again is just for the day but I can't help feeling slightly stressed about! I know some DH's work further away than that but I can't help feeling Shock about it...!

I received a text from my sis in law yesterday which has upset me. She says she doesn't want to stay in touch with me (or the rest of the family) anymore as we have 'accepted' my brothers new relationship. I haven't by any means accepted it but don't really know how to go about replying to her tactfully without her saying to my brother at a later date that I said I don't accept this new relationship. It's not my choice who my brother decides to have a relationship with! Does any of that make any sense whatsoever?! In a nutshell my brothers new relationship is with their (ex) nanny.. ShockThe whole thing is very upsetting and I think he is a complete b*stard for it but am not going to disown him over it! sigh

sasamaxx · 25/05/2011 08:24

Oh dear neenewps it's not fair for your SIL to expect you to completely ignore your brother - whether you approve of what he has done or not. He is still your brother, whatever he has done.

I have had really uncomfortable cramping during the night - I'm certain it's my bowel and just to do with the constant constipation I've had.
Just taken lactulose and a huge glass of squash so will drink loads today, take more lactulose later and hope that it eases off.

Joannezipan · 25/05/2011 08:24

Morning - feeling better after some sleep - although I had some very strange dreams! Off for the presentation scan in a mo but just wanted to say to neenewps I think you should tell her that you don't condone what your brother did, but that your feelings for him don't effect your feelings for her and that while it is ultimately her choice (and you respect any decision she makes) you would miss her if she decided not to continue your relationship...or words to that effect.
Will check back for babies after the scan...

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 25/05/2011 08:33

Am feeling a bit cheerful this morning. It seems I was right and Dr was wrong because after the first day of antibiotics the swelling has gone done very slightly and my leg is no longer in pain (which meant i eventually got back to sleep after waking up at 4.30). Roll on fanjo pain going away soon too GrinGrin (just in time for a whole world of different baby related fanjo pain, but I'm prepared for that!).

Am treating myself to a swim I can't afford as a result.

Now though I need to get DS ready for the day, so will be back later to catch up. Enjoy your day all xx

takethatlady · 25/05/2011 08:36

Oh no neenewps that sounds like a horrible situation and your SIL is not making it better - might the trick be to tell her where you stand somehow (tactfully, as you say) but somehow also let her know that you do still want to have contact with her (so, on the offchance she does calm down in a few weeks/months, the bridges aren't burned?). What a toughie.

I am shattered! All the time! I also get a sore tongue/roof of mouth from pineapple or pineapple juice, but I get it from boiled sweets, tomatoes and so on too. I thought it was just acid but the enzyme thing makes sense ...

takethatlady · 25/05/2011 08:38

Cross-post with no-longer-aching-fanjo and joanne - good luck today, both of you! Jealous of your swim fanjo.

neenewps · 25/05/2011 08:46

oh sasa you poor thing. Hope the water does the trick. Glad the wiggles concert was good. I was in New York once when they were doing this tv thing just outside of central park. Was funny :)

Glad the pain in your leg has gone away confessions Enjoy your swim.

ttl I too am pooped.

Re brother/sis in law situ.. that's exactly how I feel. Just trying to put it into words is very tricky. I feel very sad about the whole thing. I can see why she is so bloody enraged about the whole thing. Can't be nice your husband having an affair let alone right underneath your nose!!

neenewps · 25/05/2011 08:48

ps joanne hope the presentation scan is all good and LO is behaving itself :)

misshoohaa · 25/05/2011 08:54

neenewps what a tricky situation, I think Joannezipan's response is the right angle.

I had a right strop this morning at DH, tears and all. Amazing what it achieves....perhaps I should cry more often although then the effectiveness might wear off. Anyway he's asked me to write a list of the things that I need doing and he will make them a priority rather than his interpretation of what's important (ie - plaster boarding, skirting boards) etc. I just want the fricken washing machine plumbed in - the laundry run is not fun anymore!!

Thanks banana I'm off to the midwife today, so will check with her but I'm hoping that it is a sign of things to come as to be frank I'm getting a bit over being pregnant. I've really enjoyed it most of the way through, but the last few days with the stabbing of the cervix and constant 'I'm gonna wee my pants' feeling has not been so dandy. Best of luck to you!

Have a good day ladies, we're long overdue for a birth announcement I think!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 25/05/2011 09:24

Just a quick one from me, will catch up properly later.

Newneeps - I think Joanne's response is a good one, how sad for you and your SIL Sad

Banana - good luck for today!

Was sooooo tired last night, I went to bed at 9:30! Was sat on the sofa before this but just felt both tired and restless. So had a bath and then bed.

Still no twinges. But (TMI ALERT) I did the most ginormous poo (rivalled Confessions, I reckon!)

Crazy - I seem to remember to you have a cinquecento? Are you putting the car seat in the back? If you don't have an airbag for the front passenger seat, or if you do it can be switched off, why not out the car seat there? Just move the seat all the way back. I should have thought of this earlier really!! Always had baby car seat in front with me, and DS's car seat is currently in the front as I can turn my passenger air bag off.

Anyway, I think we have damn good excuses for our strops, stresses and tantrums think this is a sign we're fast approoaching the big day!

takethatlady · 25/05/2011 09:26

neenewps if it was me I would just say something along the lines of 'I'm so sorry about what has happened. I really want you to know that I don't want to lose you. I don't condone my brother's actions at all but for everybody's sake I think it is best if I keep out of it - it's not my business and I can't disown him. But you are family to me too and I hope that there is some way we can move forward'. Or something.

As I said, I am a weakling :)

takethatlady · 25/05/2011 09:28

Forgot to say, too, morning sickness is back. Just spewed tea and cornflakes all over the kitchen :(

bananarama05 · 25/05/2011 09:52

Well I'm still here, boo!

Have temporarily abandoned the keeping active advice and am using the opportunity for my last lie in for a while!

Neenewps, sorry I have no great advice but wanted to say that sounds horrible, I do hope things can somehow get resolved eventuallly.

Right ladies keep sending those labour vubrs my way, 5 hours to go and counting!

bananarama05 · 25/05/2011 09:53

Or even vibes, I've no idea what that says above!
