Will this be the final thread?!? I somehow think not, with more and more people starting on maternity leave, we have time for a good few more methinks!

BPrincess · 24/05/2011 12:32

Hello all, just a really quick one as I've got to pop out in a min, but how come presentation scans? Is that just routine in some places and not others? I want one!!!

I'm bored with being pregnant and want my baby too! Having a few teeny tiny twinges (strange unsettled, slight nausea, followed by quick headache, only lasts about a minute - very odd), but really I'm sure I'll be late.

Come on Banana and Barbie!!!

CitizenOscar · 24/05/2011 12:41

Exciting to hear things are getting moving for a few of us... Can't wait to hear more baby news! I'm 36 weeks today and think it's still going to be a while til we get any baby action round these parts. Not feeling too impatient yet...

TTL Not surprised you had a rage - some things just need sorting and it's frustrating to have to rely on people who don't see the urgency. We're meant to be having some work done and last I heard they might be able to come in 3-4 weeks... I have pointed out that that might not be terribly convenient. Oh well, I'm sure it'll all get sorted at some point Hmm

OK - I have a silly question... How many blankets do you need for a new baby? I've got a cot blanket and one other that someone gave me, but whenever I see people with babies they always seem to have dozens of blankets (well, maybe not dozens...). Don't want to go overboard but don't want to have to do emergency blanket shopping!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 24/05/2011 12:44

Opps I hear DS outside, so can't finaish reading right now, but loving the baby off. Looking forward to hearing good news soon from you both Banana andBarbie

Merlion · 24/05/2011 12:53

Joanne 2 more days for me!

PP let us know how you get on.

BPrincess you never know Smile

Citizen depends what you use most. I tended to swaddle DS when he was tiny so didn't need a blanket (then again might be different for us as it's always hot here). The blankets only really got used in his pram and when he wasn't swaddled in air-con.

SSD yes it's really hot. This May has been v.hot. I am spending time inside with air-con on and lots of time in the pool!

LisasCat · 24/05/2011 13:19

Citizen I ended up with about a dozen, just because we got given them by granmas. But I probably only ever used 2 of them for DD. Even if you find you need more, it won't be too desperate a situation, because they're unlikely to both be in such a dreadful mess that you have to leave the house, that very moment, to go and buy another.

And can I just be a bit sentimental about the older bit, after all the poing, and crying, and crawling, and learning to talk, then learning to talk BACK, then learning to cry for maniulative purposes........... and gush about that bit 4 years later. We went to the induction morning for DD's school this morning, where she's going to be starting in September, and I am feeling soooo soppy right now. My baby's a big girl, who's going to be wearing a school uniform, and I know it's not really that big a step up for her given that she's at nursery full time so it's basically just the same stuff but a different building. I, however, am just getting all emotional over it. It's probably good that I'm going to have a newborn soon, so I don't start getting all clingy when I see DD looking so grown up on that first day in September!

bananarama05 · 24/05/2011 13:42

Bugger bugger bugger, am now booked in for augmentation (the oxytocin drip part of induction) at 3pm tomorrow. Which means constant monitoring, therefore less mobility, no birth pool and no mlu. And if nothing happens before tomorrow night I have to stay in and dp has to go home until im in established labour.

Have just taken the dog for a 45 minute walk, am now bouncing on my birthing ball contemplating the rest of last nights curry for lunch! Not so much as a twinge so far :( sadly I missed the pineapple conversation but from the drift of it i got i think I may opt out of being the thread guinea pig!

TTL I feel your pain, neither my bathroom or kitchen or finished and ive now given up all hope. Oh and we took our shed down 2 weeks ago only to find out our new one cant be delivered til the 1st week if june. Our lawnmower is currently living in our kitchen ... sigh ...

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 24/05/2011 14:25

Oi Baby Banana time to come out now!!!

Did that help Banana? Boo at having to have augmentation. Hope your LO hurries and appears before then.

(Perhaps TMI, sorry) Well it turns out I have an infected cyst by my ladybits (should be going by the name of ConfessionsOfAnExceedinglyPainfulFanjo these days). I thought this was causing my leg to hurt too, but the Dr reckons the leg pain is baby related (eg sciatica). So even if I manage to sort out the sore fanjo it looks like I maybe stuck with a sore leg til baby comes. No wonder I've been having trouble sleeping! And baby has permission to come early now (even if financially I'd like it to be late).

BarbieLovesKen · 24/05/2011 14:34

Hi all, I think I've probably got all your hopes up unneccessarily - I think Ill have a baby in a few days time, not anytime too soon but that said, Im due Saturday so hardly that suprising. Thank you so much for all the kind wishes regardless though and Im sorry to disappoint. I have loads of pressure and aches and pains etc today but think its just part of the course at this stage.

Went into town and bought my last few bits and pieces for case/ baby and nursery today. Nursery is looking really pretty (if I do say so myself). Very pleased. I wallpapered one wall in a lovely laura ashley florel paper and have fabric butterflies stuck on the walls with white shelves with old, old rag dolls and carousels etc...

Anyway, really should stop faffing about with it and pack the damn case.

Am so, so, so excited for you banana, waters breaking to me suggests an imminent arrival of yet another gorgeous wee baby. Really, really crossing everything that contractions start soon and you avoid the augmentation. ..

Hope everyone else is well?

BarbieLovesKen · 24/05/2011 14:36

oooo confessions sounds painful Sad. You poor thing

sasamaxx · 24/05/2011 14:41

Will read through replies tonight - just checking in quickly to check on baby news...

KaraStarbuckThrace · 24/05/2011 14:50

Confessions - ooh sounds painful!!

Banana - boo to augmenation. Hope things kick off properly before them.

Barbie - awww bless you for thinking you were disappointing us!

BPrincess - I had a presentation scan to check that baby is head down, this is because I am having a home birth.

Have come back from scan, baby is definitely head down and she is facing to my side, so neither OP or OA atm! Still plenty of time for her to move though Smile

Joannezipan · 24/05/2011 14:51

I think i'm being a touchy pg lady...but it really gets on my goat when I'm talking to my boss about something and he answers the phone when I'm in mid-sentance! It's just rude (isn't it...there isn't some strange office/phone etiquette I've missed for the last 9 years is it????) Angry I cannot wait to get out of here... 23 working hours to go!

Moog72 · 24/05/2011 15:57

Banana - still time for things to happen before your appointment tomorrow - try to stay positive!!

I am struggling with writing a reference for my friends today - they are trying to adopt a child and I am providing a character reference. One of the questions is 'How would they cope wiht caring and parenting a child?' It is so gerenal I don't know where to start but really want to make sure I say the right thing to do the best I can for them.

22 working hours to go - we have the same time left Joanne!

Moog72 · 24/05/2011 15:59

And yes Joanne - I agree - bloody rude!

PerpetualProvocateur · 24/05/2011 16:04

Thanks for the well wishes, Supersunny, Thorny, and Merlion. My BP was still high for me, but holding steady, and again there was no protein in my urine. They didn?t see the need to take another blood test for PE. I have to see the MW weekly from now on, but should be able to plan for my home birth if no other symptoms arise.

I have a friend who just gave birth in the States, where they get far more scans than we do, and although they had been expecting a girl, it was a boy! Quite a surprise for them, and I?m sure her DH is now running around like mad exchanging things.

Banana, sorry things aren?t going as planned. Try to focus on what you can still do to make the environment as relaxing as possible (dim lights, music, aromatherapy). You could also keep trying the natural remedies between now and then?I would probably go for sex before experimenting with the pineapple!

misshoohaa · 24/05/2011 16:26

Hi all,

TMI post so be warned!

For the last few days and this afternoon especially I've been having a lot of milky white discharge. I would guess that this afternoon I've probably had about 2 teaspoon trickle out. I'm assuming that it is just an increase in discharge rather than my waters breaking - anyone else having the same?

I did ring the hospital about the same thing last week and they said to put a panty liner in and call them back if I was still concerned. I did and the discharge tapered off so assumed it was nothing to worry about, so perhaps I'm just extra fluidy!?

Moog72 · 24/05/2011 16:29

Does sounds like extra discharge to me - water tend to be clear (well mine were). Isn't extra discharge a sign that labour is not far away though? I'm sure I read that.

motherofsnortpigs · 24/05/2011 16:58

banana google Debra Betts acupressure. There's one on your ankle - worth a shot. Can't do a link - on my phone.

motherofsnortpigs · 24/05/2011 17:01

lisa I'll pm you my chocolate frosting recipe later, if you like.

Nurse congratulations on passing your test - don't think I would have been able to pass this late in pregnancy!

Banana I hope your baby comes soon and the way you want it to rather than the hospitals way!

Misshoohaa I've had extra discharge for a while now - I think it just increases the further along you are!

BTW Im allergic to pineapple so cant test the theory of rubbing it in sorry!

Hit 38 weeks today so arrival could be imminent and i really want it to be coz im getting fed up of being this pregnant!

Had a cry at DP today when I couldn't get the car seat to fit in my tiny car! He got it to fit but I didn't think it looked safe so threw a strop saying I can never take the baby out in the car because its not safe! Cant buy a new car seat coz I already have the smallest one I can find! Might be getting a new car soon so hopefully that will solve my problem.

Im joining the insomnia club coz I keep waking up every half hour having to turn over because of the pains in my knees and its really annoying me!

Also ignoring my lady garden! Me and DP can't 'get up to' anything because of his surgery so I really don't see the point in struggling to make it tidy just for the midwives! They will have seen worse!

As for my blood test results I'm still waiting for the doctors call! He said he sent a fax to the haematologist but he hasn't heard back yet so who knows what is going on!

I wonder if GoodVibrations has had her baby yet - haven't seen her on here and it was her due date yesterday!!

motherofsnortpigs · 24/05/2011 20:52

O help, DH has just come home with a pineapple...

milliemuffin · 24/05/2011 21:01

Woohoo! Mother is going to be our guinea pig :) well volunteered Grin

knackered76 · 24/05/2011 21:09

Banana Sending 'come out now' vibes to baby banana! Fingers crossed you go into labour tonight :)

Nurse I bow down to your ability to pass your test when soooo pregnant Grin

MOSP Good girl for trying it out Wink let us know if it works and then we might all be at it Grin

Lisa's I was the same when dd went nearly 2 years ago. The feeling hasn't gone really as I can't believe she's moving up another year in September . . . . somebody has to find a way to stop them growing up so damn quickly!

Had mw today and all good. Baby head down but back at my side, at least I'm not back to back so don't mind! Also 2/5ths engaged which I was surprised at seeing as it's my third. Not that being engaged means anything's going to happen but it has spurred me on to at least pretend to do final assignment (yes I still haven't done it Blush)

Here's hoping for baby news tomorrow :)

motherofsnortpigs · 24/05/2011 21:15

I'm going to force myself to eat all of it so there are no leftovers :)
