Will this be the final thread?!? I somehow think not, with more and more people starting on maternity leave, we have time for a good few more methinks!

Do we have an updated stats page, would be good to see who is due next and who is already popped? Sorry I don't know where to find it? :s

Stats thread

Petitech - I have a neutered tom, who is 12 yo and very chilled out. He has been fine around DS. Used to make himself scarce when DS was a loud crying baby, but would often come and cuddle up next to me while I was feeding DS Smile
Odd thing - when I was preg with DS I kept chasing him out of the cot - I'd put a blanket in so no cat fur on the mattress.
As soon as DS was born, even though he went into the Moses basket to begin with, cat never tried getting in the cot again, as if he knew that it was for the baby! Same with new cot, cat has sniffed at it but is happy to curl up on our bed, or DS's bed and won't go in the cot.
He is fab with DS, very patient with him - DS occasionally pulls his tail (not hard) and I do tell him off but cat is totally unfazed, I'm more concerned if DS tried this on someone else's not so tolerant cat!
He has scratched DS a couple of times but purely by accident when DS's has startled him or they just got in each other's way.
Only thing I would suggest is to keep cat out of your/baby's room before baby arrives and of course never leave cat alone with the baby.

That's great Kara thanks :)

Morning! I think pain under right ribs is squished liver - nice.

motherofsnortpigs · 21/05/2011 15:58

Crazy phone - reposted all by itself. We're off for a swim. All sat waiting for daddy!

Joannezipan · 21/05/2011 18:30

Petitech One of my best fiends has a 6 month old baby and 2 rather boisterous cats. She found that the cats have been fine with the baby, but loved using the moses basket as a scratch toy! They went through it in about 2 weeks. From that point forward the baby went into the carry cot from their pram all the time and the cats weren't interested any longer. She was convinced they were trying to get at the baby, but no it was just the raffia basket they wanted!

I have had a lovely birthday so far. I had a crab salad at the pub, then we wandered along the river and had an ice-cream and now i'm preparing to tuck into the ultimate waitrose carpet picnic and rent a movie on cable. bliss! Plus DH is hanging the washing out without me having to ask. That could be because i'm wandering about like a drunken pirate with a peg leg though...the random one side arse cramp is back! BOOO! Oh well at least the sun is shining. One of my fiends got me a selection of bath bombs...i'm looking forward to my next bath no end!

MrsNoggin · 21/05/2011 19:07

Please can someone add me to stats thread. I'm only ever really on my phone and copying and pasting that much is impossible and I feel all left out!

Due date is 24/6, supposed to be a girl, and we already have DD who is nearly 3.

Much obliged!

Thornykate · 21/05/2011 19:40

Happy birthday to you Joanne glad you had a lovely afternoon :)

Thank you to all who have sent good wishes for my DS1s exams, higher maths is the only higher paper he has managed to hang on to due to him missing a lot of work & having a pretty rough year due to some mental health issues, hence why I am wary about putting any pressure on him. Fingers xed though he seems to be bearing up well, long may it last :)

I too keep logging on expecting to see that another baby is here. My money is on goodvibrations to be next!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 21/05/2011 19:53

MrsN - have added you to the stats thread.

Joanne - happy birthday!! Was Grin at you having fiends!!

Thorny - it does seem very quiet today, maybe there are more coming?

petitech · 21/05/2011 20:12

Joanne loving the idea of a 'carpet picnic' - never heard it described as that but love it! Have a nice rest of your b'day :)

OP posts:
motherofsnortpigs · 21/05/2011 21:21

Happy Birthday Joanne I love a good carpet picnic. Although can you actually get to the carpet these days?!

petitech our cat was obsessed with our first baby. I was convinced I had shut her out of the nursery, but DH just thought he'd go and check on our precious 5 week old first born and thank goodness he did because the cheeky cat was asleep on top of the baby - it could have ended very, very badly. (If you are wondering why we didn't have the baby in with us, she didn't need night feeding - yup really - and she was our first snortpig, so noisy). We now have a policy of 'if you are wondering if the babies are ok, go and check and then you can relax'. Parental instinct is very strong.

Ooh thorny I think it'll be GV too.

We had a lovely afternoon at the swimming pool. No one is to tell my mw I was demonstrating underwater somersaults to the DDs...I will only have myself to blame if Rabbit goes breech having been perfectly positioned. DS turned head down at about 35 weeks and was on the right until I was in established labour when he rotated 270 degrees to get to the optimal LOA. That was some contraction! MW was at the car getting the G&A. I've also heard a story about a breech birth where the baby flipped during labour, mainly because they attached a fetal scalp monitor to his backside and he was very unimpressed!

Downloaded Dr Who, might get to watch it, although I have just noticed the time......another evening maybe?

milliemuffin · 21/05/2011 21:43

Just out of interest, does anyone else not measure Gaviscon and just swig from the bottle? Sometimes I wonder how much I'm actually having?!

Happy Birthday Joanne!

It was my sisters birthday on thursday and it's mine 2 weeks 2mrw :) We're 17 days apart and my DS is 4 at the end of July so (god forbid!) I go overdue him and baby will hopefully have a bigger gap than her and I. Not that it's ever been an issue but I'd much rather this one be closer to mine than DS's.

milliemuffin · 21/05/2011 21:50

Quick question - if you were me, planning a home birth and labour kicked off at 11/12pm, would you ring for nan&grandad to come and collect DCs straight away or come and sit with them incase they wake or wait and see how things progress and ring them once MW has arrived and confirmed baby is imminent? Can't decide what's the best option as I know third time round there can be a few false labours so don't want to get them out unnecessarily.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 21/05/2011 22:01

Millie - no I am not going to do that, PILs live 2 hours away and it would be unreasonable for them to come across at that time of night.
How far away are the GPs?
And yes I too swig Gaviscon straight from the bottle!

milliemuffin · 21/05/2011 22:10

If they're at home then 20mins, if mum's at work then max 30mins.

sasamaxx · 21/05/2011 22:20

Yes Milliemuffin I swig out of the bottle too - especially during the night.
Lovely bump pic Smile

I agree Thorny and MOSP that GV will be next - I also have some suspicions about Perpetualprovocateur going a good bit early.

I feel absolutely terrible today - knackered, half-asleep, slightly nauseous - really lacking in energy. It's hard to describe - reckon I just need a good night's sleep.

38+1 today

KaraStarbuckThrace · 22/05/2011 07:29

Sassamax - yes that is what I was like yesterday, feel a bit better today despite laying awake for over an hour at 1am!
And small one waking me up at 5:15 and then 6:15 grrrr.
I persuaded him to get some books and read in bed for a bit but of course he kept chatting and asking questions so no chance of anymore shut eye!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 22/05/2011 07:47

I know that I am definitely ready for this baby now.
When the SMA ad comes on, I am no longer filled with righteous indignation at the misleading information in the ad, and am going "squeeeee" at the snuggly babies!!!

Hurray up DD!! DH has been to his concert so nothing else to wait for Grin
Apparently it was fabulous, DH, his DB and his mate had a fantastic time.

I think DH owes me big time for this Grin

sasamaxx · 22/05/2011 08:52

LOL Kara it's the cow and gate one that I hate - I actually complained about it and everything.

I tossed and turned during the night and had period-type pains.
Hope everyone had a good night, and excited to see if we have any new arrivals today Smile

No baby here yet , but the bounty book informs me feeling depressed can be a sign of impending labour. If this is true I must about to pop.

PS can someone please take a few days of rain off my hands inreturn for an equal amount of lovely hot and dry sunshine? Please .

knackered76 · 22/05/2011 10:15

Morning all,

I can finally see you all :) Hope you're all having a nice weekend. I got a lie in this morning which was lovely but rather then being woken up with a cup of tea it was 2 children demanding me read the worst witch to them! Nothing happening here (38+1) but have reached that familiar phase of everyday wondering if it will happen today (unlikely as I wasn't early last couple of times!).

Millie and Halle We must be all quite close as I'm planning on the Lister. The MLU isn't open until October but the new rooms are nice and DH doesn't feel comfortable with a home birth so we're off there instead!

Millie my plan when I was thinking of a home birth was to not call anyone until I'd had the baby if it was the middle of the night and just get them over in the morning so I could rest!

Belated happy b'day Joanne, nice to hear you had a lovely day :)

We'll I've seen the bump photos and although some of them are nice, I clearly still have an issue with looking at pictures of myself Blush. I always think I should look nicer then I do and end up feeling a bit pants about various features. On the plus side my mum and mil are ordering some so I least I do feel as though I've wasted too much money and not benefited!

Thorny fingers xed for bearing up well during this time for your ds. My friend's sister has mental health problems and found exams a real stresser. She has learnt to cope using various techniques that work for her and recently achieved the highest possible grade in a masters on linguistics!

Right, dh back from his bike ride so should probably pretend I've been up to something vaguely worthwhile!

Happy Sunday Grin

sasamaxx · 22/05/2011 10:35

I wish supersunnyday but I'll probably be another 3 weeks or something

HalleLouja · 22/05/2011 10:37

Knackered I am not going to Lister. Whilst QEII is there and its my closest hospital I will stick with it. Lucky I did that as have been there so many times with scans etc. The staff have been lovely - although the facilities not so fab.

I had some fab bump photos done but the ones with DH and DS in with me are much more comfortable looking and you can still see the bump. Luckily it was a sunny day and there were lots of shots done in my garden. My cat managed to sneak in a few too.
