Will this be the final thread?!? I somehow think not, with more and more people starting on maternity leave, we have time for a good few more methinks!

OP posts:

Sorry you are so tired Joanne - I can't believe anyone is still working! (I understand of course that a lot of people do for financial reasons, or to make the most of the time after baby arrives... but I know I could not have faced the office for a good long while now.) Happy birthday for tomorrow.

Bubs has calmed down after Wednesday night's antics, so pedicure is on, along with coffee and an early bite to eat with friends afterwards. :)

I've read more about BH now and wondering what my sharp cervix pains were - pre labour I guess, as I have some of the other signs too. I've had them at around 34 weeks too and the MW told me they were BH when I described them. My bump has definitely been getting rock hard as well though - and that is not painful.

It's funny talking about getting drunk. At the moment I don't really miss it, although I have missed my late night social life at times. But when I think about feeling hungover or tired the next day, that doesn't appeal at all. I'm sure some of that's down to late pregnancy/exhaustion, but being off booze for 8 months has definitely given me time to think about my drinking habits. I have a feeling they may have changed somewhat for good!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 20/05/2011 09:16

Super they didn't last long, just a couple of seconds, but they were across my already niggly, lowerback and I ended up with trapped wind too, so extra painful.

My brain keeps trying to tell me Currant Bun is coming today. I'm telling my brain it's deluded and to be quiet please Grin (only 36 wks after all!)

takethatlady · 20/05/2011 09:17

thorny the very fact that your DS is doing advanced maths is evidence you've done something right!!! Love the idea of the test sticks! Will google ....

Good luck nurse!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 20/05/2011 09:51

Good luck to Thorny's DS1 on his exams!!

Joanne - don't feel bad, it is tiring!! And you would be even more tired if you went into work! When do officially go on ML?

Moog72 · 20/05/2011 10:10

Morning...
I have in sick today too Joanne! I finish officially next week but to be honest have really had enough of work now. Hope you feel better after a restful day :)

How did the test go Nurse??

milliemuffin · 20/05/2011 10:43

Hi ladies, sorry, not had chance to read last few pages, hope you're all well. I'm doing a part-time photography course and last night it was the girls turn to be the models (we've been doing studio shoots for the last few weeks using different models) and one of the other students has just uploaded a photo of me onto facebook. If you search for R A N D and S I'm the one in the pink top with the black backdrop holding my bump :) Feel free to add me. xx

jasmine51 · 20/05/2011 11:12

Millie I got some dude called Randy when I searched for you, is R A N D your user name?

I forgot to say yesterday that I did a complete survey of eating establishments in the JR at Oxford...if anyone wants to know the good ones and their opening times so they can pass the info to their visitors, let me know and I'll send you the list.....there was a method behind this madness by the way...I wanted to find out where DH could get me some supplemental food and some of the cafes do quite good food that can be taken away.

Nurse how did it go?

Right, time to have a go at DH - he thought he'd surprise me by arranging a last bit of building work tomorrow.....in the babies room....and its going to be dusty...and he didnt think about emptying the room or how to cover everything up.....I'm not happy and dont want to shout at him but wtf is he thinking!!!

milliemuffin · 20/05/2011 11:20

RAND and S, don't forget the S xx

jasmine51 · 20/05/2011 11:20

Ooo, one more thing...Fathers Day 19th June...dont forget to buy your DHs their first card if your LO is likely to be around before then.

milliemuffin · 20/05/2011 11:21

Leave out the spaces xx

neenewps · 20/05/2011 11:35

Oh no jasmine hope he hasn't caused too much chaos.

millie I just searched and I came up with a lady in Texas?

takethatlady · 20/05/2011 11:38

PS joanne forgot to say - no, my NCT leader is called Victoria :)

milliemuffin · 20/05/2011 11:42

Ok, my surname is RANDS, there's about 20 results. Xx

NurseSunshine · 20/05/2011 12:22

Thanks for all the good luck wishes ladies. However, when I turned up to the test centre, cool, calm and confident, they had no record of my fucking booking. So I didn't get to take the test. After an hour of crying into a tea towel whilst clicking "refresh" on the DSA webpage I managed to get a date for this monday. But, of course, there's no instructor free then so if my instructor's student won't reschedule her lesson that day so he can take me then I am going have to try and borrow someone's car. My mum would let me use hers but it would mean driving all the way here, getting me on the insurance for the day, etc etc etc and I don't know if she's even free that day. SCREAM. And now that I've booked monday it's too short notice to cancel so I would lose my fee if I couldn't take the test! My blood pressure must be through the roof

Merlion · 20/05/2011 12:39

Nurse sorry to hear about booking. Hope that it all works out for Monday. Did you see there was a thread on here about someone doing their test at 37 weeks?

Moufflon many many congratulations so pleased it all went so smoothly!

NMH I can't believe I'm still at work especially as DS arrived at 38+4 and I finish next Thursday when I will be 38+3 but ML is not at all generous here as most locals get their parents to look after their babies when they go back to work and a lot of other expat wives don't work.

Merlion · 20/05/2011 12:40

Jasmine I almost bought a Father's Day Card at the weekend then I thought it might be bad luck so decided against it.

tinyk · 20/05/2011 12:56

Hi everyone,

To those on sickies - I'm with you. I'm only 34 weeks, but last night spent the entire night up with mild nausea which triggered braxton hicks all night too. blergh. On the up side me being up all night with uncomfortable contractions has meant DH thinks we should possibly pack a hospital bag just in case Smile which gives me an excuse to go and shop for all the other stuff we don't have yet Grin. I went into the office for 2 hours to set up a presentation for someone else to present and then buggered off home.

At about 4am I tried, to write a post, but the Mumsnet server went down and lost it :( and now I'm too tired to respond to everything/everyone but:

  • Good luck to all children on exams. Confidence is everything!
  • De-stress to those stressed (by work/baby's imminent arrival/driving tests). Bath, foot massage - even self-administered - get out some baby clothes and just nest
  • Babies that need to stay put - STAY, babies that are ready to come - be nice!
  • All babies that are out in the wide world - congrats to mums and dads! You're all my idols, any tips for a first timer greatly appreciated!

Funny cat story/slight TMI but integral to story:

I was going to the loo (number 1) yesterday and the cat was in the bathtub chasing a spider. The bathtub is beside the loo with a clear plexiglass shower screen between. The canny spider decided attack was the best form of defense and grabbed her whiskers. Cat panicked... decided to flee... jumped out of bathtub aiming for my lap... and smacked full speed into the plexiglass! BOING!!! Good thing I was already peeing, or I'd have peed myself Grin. And I thought that kind of thing only happened in cartoons! Ah, who needs babies when you have animals for entertainment Wink.

Right... nap time!

crumbletastic · 20/05/2011 13:14

Muffin, either I'm a victim of my pregnancy brain or you will have to be less subtle! I'm getting hundreds of results for rands? there is one in manc with a scan pic as the profile but set to private? I'm lost!

Finally packed my hospital bag today, which is an improvemetn on last pregnancy when I didn't have a thing packed when they sent me into hospital in an ambulance with flashing blue lights. It's much fairer on my husband that I'm prepared this time as he didn't have a clue what half the things on my list were. The only thing I need now is a lightweight cotton dressing gown but I haven't seen any in the shops anywhere which is madness with it being the summer. All i can find are big fluffy winter ones?

Joannezipan · 20/05/2011 13:25

Crumble TK Maxx had some the other day when I went to buy some nighties.

I might have to go and have a nap this afternoon. I have to admit i'm feeling very pathetic. I just want DH to come home and give me a cuddle. :(

milliemuffin · 20/05/2011 13:30

Crumble that is odd, not sure what's going on there. If you still want to and havent got bored already :) try searching for Jasmine Photo Imaging. That's my page :)

Thanks guys, am still waiting to hear about monday.

sasamaxx · 20/05/2011 15:51

That's rubbish Nurse - really hope things work out on Monday for you.
I can't find you either Millie

crumbletastic · 20/05/2011 16:30

look again ladies, I can see jasmine photo imagining (search facebook, not google super sunny). I can't see the bump picture though millie? Lovely photos though.

Thanks for the TK maxx tip Joanne, although silly me was in there last night buying a cafetierre and i didn't even think to look at robes. Will try again at the weekend

KaraStarbuckThrace · 20/05/2011 16:54

Yey one of my MN friends has had a baby boy today!

Nurse - so sorry to hear about the fuck up with your test, have you got a refund? Fingers crossed your instructor can persuade his other pupil to rearrange her lesson!

Peacocks also had some cotton wrap around robes, £9 each.
