Anybody else out there?????
Very surprised, had only SWI once and I thought we had missed the window of opportunity. It seems not, BFP yesterday, royal wedding treat. EDD about 2nd Jan I think.

#2 for me, keeping fingers tightly crossed as had a bumpy ride before conceiving DS. Very excited and slightly terrified. :)

Hi

It has been so long since I've been on thread, having major broadband problems! Welcome and congratulations to all the newbies!! Trying to catch up with everyone.

hotcrosses Really sorry to hear your news, thinking of you ((hugs))

I am 7 weeks on Thursday, seeing my midwife then. still not got a huge amount of symptoms, but my mum seems to remember that i was the same with DD.

I will catch up with the rest of the thread later.

shonnomanom · 24/05/2011 13:11

Oh Ses please dont think that your bringing the thread down. We are all here together for support and right now we are all here for you. (((Massive hugs)))

I got my flu jag today. Was really quite painless. The nurse said that the NHS over stocked flu vaccines last winter and are using the surplus up for pregnancies and other persons that are a threat from having flu.
I have to call in September/October time to find out if the Health Board think that we will need the new batch or if its the same/almost the same strength etc as last years.

Hope everyone is well.
My restless nights have kicked in Sad

Is anyone else absolutely freezing all the time? I just can't get warm. I've been drinking de-caf tea all day, the heating's on and I'm wearing 3 layers and I'm still cold. Hmm

I had a look on the internet and it seems relatively common during early pregnancy and nothing to worry about. I do have low blood pressure normally anyway and iron deficiency has been a problem during my other pregnancies so I think I'll mention it tomorrow when I go for my first scan.

No sickness today at all though! Yay!

ghosteditor · 24/05/2011 15:50

browncoats I thought it was just me - I've had the radiator back on at work (our building is freezing) and am back in some of my winter clothes (the ones which will fit at the waist, anyway Hmm )

Plus the weather has been a bit colder too; whatever happened to that heatwave I heard people muttering about last week?

TandB · 24/05/2011 15:51

For all those suffering with morning sickness I am tentatively announcing a miracle cure!

Someone told me that acupuncture is good for morning sickness and when I googled it I found some recent news stories about GPs recommending it.

I found a local acupuncture clinic (rather helpfully it is an "affordable acupuncture clinic" - they treat several patients at once with screens separating, rather than private rooms, so they can go between patients and charge less.

6 hours on and I have had no nausea whatsoever. It might be a placebo effect but I am tentatively hopeful that it has worked.

If anyone is in south London, google Brixton acupuncture - it runs on Tuesdays only and you pay what you can afford between £20 and £35 per hour and they also do subsidised rates for students and those on benefits.

SlightlyScrambled · 24/05/2011 17:03

Yes Browncoats. I just can't seem to keep warm at all and worried when I saw others here are roasting. But DH assures me I was the same last time too.

I had a scan yesterday with my MW. It ended up worrying me more than putting my mind at ease. She thought i couldn't be at 7 weeks, more like 5. But since the deed was only done once that month, I know I'm right. Not having periods to go by is a bit of a pain.

I'm back in two weeks time for another scan. Her ultrasound machine is really old. Last pregnancy she called me in at 10 weeks as she said she couldn't see anything before then so I'm taking that into consideration. That was 2 years ago and it's the same machine.

I had some morning sickness today so that's a good sign. And I realised I've gone off chocolate the past few days. I'm a devout choco-holic so this could be the start of morning sickness.

Nanny01 · 24/05/2011 18:08

I got told I was a week behind so 7 instead of 8. We hardly bd'ed that month either and birthcontrol to. I wouldn't worry.SlightlyScrambled do you go to a gp midwifery service or consultnat care. Scans in Bershire are done at the hospital. I cheated and had another scan this week with a lovely lady who was nicer and showed me everything including the area where the bleed was. I am going back in 2 weeks for another private scan as you only get one scan at 12 weeks now and then 20. Though due to my weight they said I will have a growth scan later in the pregnancy to look at how big baby is. Not that my past babies are big ds2 was 7lb 13oz so not big for a 4th baby. I think the NHS staff don't want me to relax in my pregnancy but feel perpetually guilty about my weight.

SlightlyScrambled · 24/05/2011 18:46

Nanny I'm living overseas now and they have a seperate clinic for pregnancy. The MWs here do all the checks a gp would do and have a ultrasound machine in the office.

I will be sent to the hospital for a dating scan at 12 weeks and they have the new machines.

Reassuring to hear you were given incorrect weeks too.

I was delighted to hear that your scan went well last week. :)

blueeyedmonster · 24/05/2011 19:56

I'm cold too browncoats

I've started getting funny about which food I eat again. It can't be 'dry' has to be something 'wet (easy to go down) ' ie pasta and sauce, vegetables, rice pudding. Thats when I actually feel like food. The nausea is getting worse and i'm feeling nauseous almost all day now bleugh.

I didn't get this last time, just felt sick when I was hungry. Anyone got any sneaky tips to ease it?

Deesus · 24/05/2011 20:01

I'm freezing! But reassuring the hear others are too.

Smugly thought I hadn't got any nausea until I nearly gipped on the bus on the way home Blush Had to rush home heaving and spitting till I could get something to eat. Must admit, I've looked better.Grin

MercyMe · 24/05/2011 20:30

browncoats I am also freezing all the time, thought it was just me. Glad to hear it's normal.

blueyed I have gone completely off some food, I cannot even look at asparagus and I usually eat heaps of it! Luckily not too much nausea, just an aversion to mainly healthy food unfortunately. I could probably eat lots of chippies!

I am feeling absolutely knackered all of the time! Had a wee snooze at 6, and feel like going to bed just now. Do not remember being this tired with dd.

Hope everyone else is well.

Mama5isalive · 24/05/2011 20:40

ohhh kfup - im not to far from there, but im so not sure about acupuncture - i dislike needles and so dreading my appt tomo with the midwife!
the last time they took blood i ended up laying down to recover!!!!!!!
im actually feeling warmer then usually, but also good weather here-sunny!
im so off food but force it down due to not eating gives me mad migraines!!!!!
had to go out and buy new work shirts so not impressed but had no choice- expanding belly and growing boobs was getting harder to hide!Blush
8+5 today so i actually feel like time is moving though really slowly!Hmm
no scan appt yet - still have not decided what hospital to use?

fishandlilacs · 24/05/2011 21:14

SES i'm so sorry to hear your news xx

blueeyed i am exactly the same, nausea almost all day, but unlike you I cannot face a vegetable and am almost exclusively living on pastries, bread, cheese and sweet stuff. I feel sick all the time at the moment. I am so worried about getting my eating under control, I have a weight issue already and I am just piling on at the moment but i cant control myself-i feel sick if I dont eat then sick again if I do. There was me a couple of weeks ago being all smug about lack of morning sickness.

browncoats I am also very sensitive to the cold at the moment, and pain!! DH poked me in the shoulder a friendly manner earlier and it hurt. DD stood on my foot and I nearly hit the ceiling. I had my eyebrows waxed and normally i'm dead hardy about it but I cried! I shall cultivate a monobrow and be done with it for the rest of my pregnancy. On the upside my fingernails are really strong!

Midwife next week Scan in 2 weeks. No news on finding a new job yet-not heard one or the other from the interview. Think I may chase it up tomorrow.

Nanny01 · 25/05/2011 11:32

I now start my day of with rich tea biscuits it's the only thing that stops the nausea. I have tried to ignore the nauseas but just ends up with me retching on the way to school, which my girls don't like as they think I am going to through up. Not sure how long I can tell them that mummy has a tummy bug for!

fishandlilacs · 25/05/2011 12:41

Gah I feel utterly rough at the moment. I'm not sick today just totally wiped out, my body feels like lead, I hav no strength or energy for anything. I think I need to up the iron!

shonnomanom · 25/05/2011 13:29

fish I was feeling like that ALOT last week, still the same this week but no where near as bad.
As a result the house has been lacking some tlc, really need to get my act together and gut the place as all the family will be stopping by over the weekend as it is dd's 3rd birthday.

Iv been freezing here too but I think its more to do with the unusually cold for May weather we're having. Apparently its to be dry here on Friday but I doubt it, we'v had rain everyday this month Sad

Hope everyone is well
Sho x

Browncoats · 25/05/2011 15:24

Whew! I'm glad its not just me who's cold then. Smile

Got my first scan today!!! Due date the 1st Jan right enough. I'm panicking though because they could tell I've been bleeding but the Dr did say that was totally normal and I might never have known about it because the blood could get reabsorbed into the womb. She said it was just a small amount and she sees women who have about 3 times that amount who go on to have perfectly healthy babies. She also said that if I did get any bleeding and it was pink or red that I was to come straight back in (because of my history).

She was really trying hard to put my mind at rest but I lost it just a bit today I'm ashamed to say. I was in tears at the hospital (not like me at all). I'm now really stressed and every twinge is making me run to the toilet convinced that's it over and I've lost another baby. I'm not sure I can cope with going through another pregnancy like last time, it was so difficult.

The Dr thinks it'll be ok, she said the baby is the perfect size, heartbeat is strong etc.. I've to go back in 2 weeks to get another scan to see how the bleeding is and the baby's measurements.

I don't really want to tell anyone in RL because they'll all be phoning me every day just to check in, they mean well but that tends to stress me out more IYKWIM. I'm so glad I've got MN and you guys to offload on!!!

Right, I'm keeping my chin up and staying positive "it's a different pregnancy" (keep repeating mantra)

shonnomanom · 25/05/2011 16:15

I totally understand your stressing brown but if the doc is happy with the progress of the baby then thats got to be positive. Try to focus on that. Your mantra is totally on the spot, every pregnancy is different!

Keep your chin up and remember, the doctor is happy Grin x
