Buballe I went for highlights in my hair as I read that was ok as the dye doesn't actually touch your scalp. I'm sure that you could find a lot of websites that tell you different, but I decided to give it a try and it worked out fine for me.

Bumpsadaisie · 22/04/2011 14:35

Hello everyone

Nearly 15 weeks here and starting to feel much more normal! DH and I even got romantic last night which is the first time in 10 weeks I have felt remotely amorous! I also enjoyed a latte this morning. Things are definitely on the up. Thank god - the first trimester was AWFUL!

No 16 week appointment here as I have already had a nuchal scan so they are not bothering to do the 16 week blood test for the trisomy disorders. A bit disappointed really - would have liked to hear heartbeat before the 20 week scan which is my next appointment (7 June).

The weather is great, the mortgage company has actually agreed to lend us what we need to convert our top floor into a couple of extra bedrooms and bathroom, the builder can start work May 3rd, we are at last buying a new estate car with five doors and plenty of luggage space (10 year old three door banger at the moment!).

Life seems to be going well! Hope everyone else is enjoying the sun. And fingers crossed for those 20 week scans as they start to happen. Really exciting - first time you can really see baby's face etc.

So, who is going to find out the sex?! We definitely will.

Bumps xxx

I have booked a gender scan with Baby Bond - I HAVE TO KNOW!!! It's a month away - nice to have these mini milestones to look forward too!!

How are all the other teachers getting on?? Can you believe it - a holiday with GOOD WEATHER!!!

CheshireDing · 22/04/2011 16:59

Bubali I have my hair coloured, I asked my hairdresser and she said it's my choice but she coloured her hair whilst pg and she coloured her friends (who is also a hairdresser at the same place). She said it's not really touching the scalp as such and it would be different if I wanted to look like Pink or someone - she probably wouldn't recommended that kind of total all over colouring!

We are not going to find out the sex, just happy with whatever it is

PenguinArmy · 22/04/2011 17:13

I remember looking at hair colour last time and could find no reasons not to. Your skin can be more sensitive, so do a test patch first, even if you've been OK before.

When I had scans at the hospital the MWs there did a check on bp, urine etc. (so not normal MW but still a check-up)

My belly has been a bit uncomfortable (hard and stitch like) anyone else?

Bubalie · 22/04/2011 17:37

I am so paranoid but I know lots of people say they have coloured their hair after the first 12 weeks. No one will guarantee it's 100% safe but lots of people do it so I may just go and have it done..

I think we are also going to find out. I really wanted to know but thought if my husband didn't then I wouldn't do it. But he said he would also like to know, so I think we will go for it. I'm thinking about going for private 20 week scan as I had one done privately at 12 weeks and really liked the consultant and everything was explained to me properly. I felt like my NHS 12 weeks scan was almost rushed. So I told my MW last week and asked if I should cancel my NHS 20 week scan and she said NO and keep it. Not sure why, I would have thought that they would say not to waste NHS money, but she said to go for both if I wanted to. Anyone else done this?

I also have a 'period type' pains in my lower stomach, but have had them on and off throughout, although I have started to worry about them now.. Is this normal and does anyone else gets this. I know round ligament pain is common at this stage, which is maybe what you are getting Penguin as they are meant to be sharp and stitch like, but mine is kind of dull ache?

PenguinArmy · 22/04/2011 17:40

Dull aches is more what I had last time

Anyone struggling with work not being happy with your pg?

sorry I am a right moaner today

CheshireDing · 22/04/2011 18:43

Moan away Penguin. My work were not too impressed at first either.

At first it gave me a right stress but they seemed to have perked up a bit about it now and my baby and the time with it is more important than their crankyness.

Still waiting for "flutterings" which is what I am supposed to be getting now - this does sound a bit disturbing though :)

drivencrazy · 22/04/2011 20:10

hey had my scan on wednesday they have changed my due date,. I had two measurements on one when baby was curled up which put me at 12.5 (8 days behind my dates) and another when it was a bit straighter which came out at 13.1. So theyve put my due date at the curled up measurement Hmm so now 28th october.NT was 2.2. Told midwife about the measurements and shes not bokking my Anti D appointment until after my next scan so can get proper dates for it. We got some lovely pictures though so all worth it.

I have a proper bump quite scarily so DP loves it and cant wait til i start waddling. Had a dress on yesterday and we went to a park some kid started playing with me and his nan told him to be careful beacuse i ahd a baby in my tummy so i cant just be imagining it all lol.

drivencrazy · 22/04/2011 20:13

Also ben told i only have a few weeks till i will feel poper movements as this is my 2nd pregnancy to get to this stage. I cant wait. DS now knows and is really happy loved looking at the pictures of his baby brother or sister. He heard the heartbeat when i went MW so put his ear to my tummy later that day and said ' i cant hear your babys heart mummy' such a sweetie

PenguinArmy · 22/04/2011 20:15

What week is the anti-D normally given?

Crawling · 22/04/2011 20:36

I am really worried has anyone elses appetite gone AWOL? I have actually lost weight and I am sure I had put some on by now with the other two I am nearly 17 weeks now do I need to speak to MW I am skinny anyway so not much to spare really.

On the plus side I am feeling loads of lovely flutters Grin I was also wondering to thoose who allready have children when did/will you tell them? I have not told my two yet and wondering when to tell them although DD 20months will probably still be oblivious Grin.

drivencrazy · 22/04/2011 20:43

anti D is usually given at 28 weeks jus do the one higher dosage in my area now. When i had ds it was 28 and 34 weeks

PenguinArmy · 22/04/2011 20:44

only so not for a while yet. I leave for the UK at 29 weeks

drivencrazy · 22/04/2011 21:03

no not for a while yet. Ye only given then unless had blleeding after 12 weeks a bump or fall to abdomen or a few other reasons which i cant recall on top of my head but have with a letter i was sent with my blood type on

PenguinArmy · 22/04/2011 21:26

I just knew it was 20 summit (which didn't really narrow it down) Grin

BabCNesbitt · 22/04/2011 21:27

Bubalie, it's on the NHS here, but I don't know if it's available with every trust in the UK? It does seem like a really good compromise, though I'm not sure about being transported in an ambulance when you're in the middle of contractions every couple of minutes! I guess you'd have to do that if a home birth wound up not working out, though.

drivencrazy · 22/04/2011 22:39

i just remember from when i had ds.

bilblio · 22/04/2011 22:51

BabC I should be having a domino delivery. I wasn't allowed last time as I was high risk. They really push for it here though as the midwives much prefer it... actually by the sounds of it they love home births more, but with the screaming I did last time I think I'd best go to hospital or my neighbours may never forgive me. Blush
We're only about 5-10 minutes from the hospital too so I'll stay at home as long as I can then go up there. I'm hoping for a waterbirth too, and the midwifery led rooms are really nice. Very normal and none of the clinical machines.
Midwifery and Consultant led are all on the same ward so if there are complications they can easily transfer me to consultant led.
Some places have totally separate Midwifery and Consultant led areas. My SIL had complications during her birth and had to be rushed to another hospital by ambulance as it was only Midwifery led where she was originally.

I've had a really good day today. I've done things yet not been exhausted! I hope this continues!

We're not finding out the sex, it's the only real surprise you get in life. But DD is going to be so disappointed if it's a boy.
She keeps cuddling my belly and saying "The baby is so cute, I love her so much." I keep trying to explain it may be a boy and her reply is "But I'm a girl!" Hmm

BabCNesbitt · 22/04/2011 23:33

bilblio Grin How old is DD?

drivencrazy · 23/04/2011 00:07

bilbilo your dd sounds really sweet
ds wanted a boy but hes now convinved its a girl along with several other people. I dont think he minds what it is as long as hes a big brother lol

chocolatehobnobs · 23/04/2011 08:35

Still don't know what domino delivery is. Could someone enlighten me please?
The sickness seems to be coming to an end and I am less tired. I've told work that I don't want to do nights next weekend. It's 3 days of 13 hour shifts and you are on your feet most of the night dealing with stressful things. Had a horrible time when feeling grim a few weeks ago and had to take 3 days off afterwards to recover. To be fair I don't feel half as grim now but still I want to stay well and not get too overtired. The trust will have to shell out £400 in locum fees so I feel a bit guilty but bring on the Royal Wedding and a lovely 4 day bank holidsay weekend... Yeay
We are definitely going to find out the sex but will maybe keep it a secret:)

drivencrazy · 23/04/2011 09:39

chocolatehobnob i have no idea what it is either. Would be interested to know. I really want a homebirth with the due date i've got its a strange time of year for me. A lot happened then a few years ago and those memories will always be at the top of my mind especially in october so i really think i need to be as relaxed as possible. Really dont think id be able to the hospital even though its a different area. Sorry if it sounds like riddles

BabCNesbitt · 23/04/2011 10:06

Chocolatehobnobs, it means "domiciliary in and out" - a MW comes to your home at the start of labour and stays with you for as long as you want before you decide to go into hospital for the actual giving birth part (the MW is with you in the hospital too). Then after the birth, you can go home just a few hours later, all being well.
