Hey all, not posted for a while had a week off work to finally rest and ended up frantically decorating and moving my bedroom around! When will I learn...I have come back to work as tired as I left!

So sad to hear Knitters news Sad

strawberry I'm due 9th as well Grin x

Bouncyminky · 20/04/2011 18:09

I've been reading and not posted for ages. So thought it was about time. Am 16wks today. Had second Mw appt yesterday and all is good. Heard heartbeat - which was lovely. I now don't see Mw for 10 weeks. Seems ages- I'll be huge by then! Bp was a little high at booking but come down now, relieved now as want to prob have a homebirth. Anyone else considering a hb? Oh and the joy, I have piles - yuck! Hoping dr can give me something tmw to stop them getting any worse.

PenguinArmy · 20/04/2011 18:27

well so I've put on 4lbs maybe 5lbs in total as not sure if I had gained before that. So, in general, bang on where my obst. says I should be Hmm, but because I put it on in the last four weeks (and I was wearing trainers and jeans today, not flip flops and dress) he said it was a bit over what he would like.

He was also really weird and pushy about the fact that I don't get emotional or cooey over the heartbeat. It just does nothing for me, no need to wave it all in my face trying to get a reaction

sorry rant over

bp fine 100/60 so not too low.

babybabybabyooo · 20/04/2011 20:43

Hi PenguinArmy. No this is my second baby. It is 9 years since I had my first though.

PenguinArmy · 20/04/2011 20:52

I feel like I've forgotten everything and it's been a year and half ago Blush

I feel fatter, but still fit into clothes. So I guess I don't show as being pg but I can see the difference IWSWIM

BabCNesbitt · 20/04/2011 22:49

PenguinArmy, it's utterly obnoxious of that obstetrician to give you grief about not being all melty at the sound of the heartbeat! It's his job to make sure the baby comes out safely, not to make sure you're demonstrating the culturally expected emotional range for a pregnant woman! Angry

PenguinArmy · 20/04/2011 22:52

well as long as he doesn't offer therapy Grin

Also above I meant 'I still fit into my regular clothes'. Wonder what it would take to not fit into clothes fullstop Hmm

Right I'm off to a work BBQ at the beach and thankfully the sun has come out. Someone has even brought a few kayaks, don't think I'll be doing that though, no swim costume. I love CA at times.

elgoldenflower · 21/04/2011 08:37

Morning all,

Just been to visit a good friend and went on a maternity shopping trip. H&M was great for little tunics, summer dresses and leggings, got loads for not much, trousers were rubbish though. Found some comfy, cheap, well fitting maternity jeans in Peacocks. Also picked up my first little baby clothes and a blanket, letting it all feel real Smile

I'm 12+6 according to my scan and showing quite a lot, still lots of bloat but baby bump is pushing everything out and up too. All out front so feels quite definitely pregnancy related but understand people's fears about looking fat. I'm tall and not at all slim but I think I still expected my belly to just turn hard and be baby only, didn't expect to hold loads of water.

Just wanted to say to all those getting hung up about their size. Try to relax and let your bodies do their job, eat sensibly with some treats - we're supposed to have an extra 300 calories a day (so I've read). If you're normally good at controlling your weight you'll be able to do that when baby arrives.

PA Your OB sounds awful. Try not to hang on to medical profession's weirdness, it's affected me too but I'm determined to develop a thicker skin.

Morning all. I haven't been very active on here, been hiding out in the PG after MC thread. But had by dating scan yesterday and I'm now 13+3, so have updated my stats on the other thread. Still have to wait for results of Nuchal test, but went public on Bookface last night, took the plunge, scan photos and all! What will be will be eh? FX everything will be fine.

Hope everyone is having a lovely sunny Thursday. Easter break starts tomorrow, yey!

rebelwithoutababy · 21/04/2011 12:18

Hotnspicy: yay! Congrats to you (wondered where you were!). Hi to all ((waves to bus)) am counting down the minutes to 5pm and holidays!!! Am being spectacularly unproductive as a result!
xx

Bubalie · 21/04/2011 12:39

Hi all, can I join please? I am 15+6 today, 35 and it is my first baby! Had my scans and NT and it all came back ok and low risk. I have had a tough time since week 4 till about week 13 with the nausea and gone off food completely, but have started to improve now (although have had nausea all day yesterday and today but have managed to eat). Anyone else still suffering? My bump is quite big and was properly noticeable since week 12, I had a hard time hiding my bump before I told everyone after my scan.. I am really skinny and have always been like this and now with this huge bump but I must say I DO love it!! I bought some maternity clothes, so can recomend the following: Had some jeans from Seraphine which were under the bump, they are really nice, but I keep to have pulling them up. I also had some summer black jeans from TopShop and they are really nice. had couple of cheap tops from H&M and a few from ASOS Maternity (really nice). Anyway just wanted to say hi and look at me - have gone on and on and on and on...

Bluetinkerbell · 21/04/2011 12:45

just thought I let you know, even though EDD is still 3rd of November Wink

yay yay! just got back! everything is fine with our little wriggler! measuring exactly 12 weeks, so EDD still 3rd November!
they couldn't get it in the position to do the measurements for the nuchal fold, but we told the midwive not to bother, as we didn't want to know and said we just needed to know everything was still ok, and she said that's fine, she thought that was the case as we had changed our mind so short notice Wink

Bubalie · 21/04/2011 12:48

Forgot to say, due date 8th October :)

BB3 · 21/04/2011 13:07

Hello all, marking my place on the new thread.

Welcome to all the newbies.

Liabella, that sounds so perfect - I'd have been in tears. I am going to DH's best friends wedding this weekend and his partner is 12 weeks pregnant so I wonder if they will announce it or wait..

Blue that's great.

I am huge - sometimes it's rock hard and I look about 8 months pregnant and other days it looks like flabby tummy Angry which is today's day!

Am off work now until 3rd May and am so relived - have been struggling the past couple of weeks - miraculously people have started to say I'm glowing but I think that's just the post-sickness due as I had 2 days off of ms and no it's back with full force, especially through the night!

Anyway, hope everyone is ok x

BB3 · 21/04/2011 13:07

Also still haven't felt these two (15 weeks ish) - felt DS at 233k 15 so thought the twins would be much sooner but nothing yet!

BB3 · 21/04/2011 13:08

week 15 not 233k 15! blardy iPhone!

CheshireDing · 21/04/2011 18:57

Bouncy how come you had 16wk appointment yesterday and now don't see them for another 10wks? Are you in the UK? I had 16wk appoint yesterday and we see the Midwife again end of May - although I have no idea if THIS is normal or not, maybe somebody else could enlighten me?

Penguin wish we were in CA, we are still waiting for retrogression, yawn.

Congrats HotnSpicy :) super chuffed for you, I had a mc end of last year and am now starting to feel confident this one will stick around, as time has gone on I have started to feel a bit more chilled out about it. Very happy for you.

Bubalie I think you are pretty much the same as me, bean is the same age and I am 34 and first baby (will be 35 once it "pops" out).

I hope everyone enjoys the weekend, even without the wine, sniff.

BabCNesbitt · 21/04/2011 19:08

Just had letter from hospital for 20 week scan appointment (actually it'll be towards the end of week 24) and of course it's on the very day that DH will be travelling to Scotland for a conference :( I'd prefer to reschedule it, but I'm guessing my chances for that would be close to nil?

dannid · 21/04/2011 19:53

bubalie im normally really skinny too(about a size 6) and my tum us expanding at a ridiculous rate. I have been wearing my maternity trousers for ages now and it is very obvious that I have a bump now! I'm loving it though!!
Chocolate I think we are more likely to make the 11/11/11 mark with our dates!

Bouncyminky · 21/04/2011 22:08

Cheshireding - I have no idea, I thought you were supposed to see them more frequently as pg went on. I'm not too worried except I think I need to get pg cert for work earlier. Will check when I get back to work and book another appt if need to.

Weather has been Gorgeous today. Hb now conked out next to me, I thought we were supposed to be the tired ones!

PenguinArmy · 21/04/2011 22:13

I think a lot of places combine the 20 weeks with a MW appt now, hence the big gap.

Bubalie · 22/04/2011 07:02

Bouncy no home birth for me, I'm a proper panicky person, so no way I would be able to do it at home. At this stage I think I need to be in hospital and have access to all drugs!! Although I may change my mind later on, it's still early days..

I think where I am you see your GP and MW on alternative weeks every 4 weeks. So I had my 16 week appointment with MW this week, then have 20 weeks scan, then she has told me to book an appointment with GP at 24 weeks and MW again at 28 weeks. Not sure I think this may wary depending on NHS trust or something?!

dannid I think really skinny people show early, I always thought that I would not show until much later on, but now everyone is saying that it's more noticeable if you stick thin. I don't mind tho, don't like being skinny anyway and could never put the weight on, so I'm loving it now!

Cheshire yeah I will be almost 36 when the baby arrives, so not too much difference between us too :)

I'm working today, so all you girls chilling at home, have a lovely day!

BabCNesbitt · 22/04/2011 10:14

Oh, my midwife appointments are all at my GP's surgery, so this is definitely scan-only. Just being wimpy - would really like to have DH there with me in case there are any problems. [busad]

Has anyone been offered domino delivery, btw? It was mentioned as an option at King's, but I haven't given it much thought - any opinions?

bilblio · 22/04/2011 10:20

I'm pretty certain that how often you see the midwife varies from Trust to Trust. I saw my Midwife for booking in, then I'll see her at 16 weeks,... and I think every 4 weeks onwards. I see the hospital midwifes at 12 and 20 weeks when I have my scans. My midwife said they'd have to cut down the numbers of appointment but that as a team they weren't happy with that so they gave me a list of where midwives will be available in the community every day and if I have any concerns I can just call in and speak to someone.

You do still see them slightly more often on a first pregnancy though.

Suffering with hayfever already today. But I've got to wait to see my GP on Tuesday. [sniff sniff]

Bubalie · 22/04/2011 13:05

BabCNesbitt just had to look up the domino delivery as didn't have a clue what it was - it sounds really good. Is that private or NHS?

I also wanted to ask everyone if you have coloured your hair? I've been looking into this for ages now and am really scared to do it. I have my colour done at the salon every 12 weeks and they use semi-permanent colour, however I haven't had it done since before Christmas and now the greys are properly visible. I asked my hairdresser when I went for my haircut a couple of weeks ago and he just brushed it off and almost made me feel a bit stupid for asking. Apparently perfectly safe, but then that is not what my friend 'google' says. What do you think?
