Glad others are insomniac's (and then absolutely knackered when the alarm goes off!) and still feeling sick (even though it went away for a while).

We went to investigate pram/pushchairs combos on Saturday, absolute minefield, however we have narrowed it down to Mylo, Bugaboo Cameleon or Babystyle Oyster, all seem to have their good and bad points/fans on reviewcentre. Although apparently Mylo has been recalled for the moment :(

Am also now doubley tired and wanting to cry as someone has just scratched all down my black car in the space of 5 minutes in a shop so it looks shit now (sorry don't know if we are allowed to swear but that's how I feel). Bit odd that usually these things would make my angry but this time it just made my upset - stupid hormones :(

chocolatehobnobs · 26/04/2011 17:46

Hello Everybody. Hope you're all feeling good. I'm now 13+3 and it's true you do start feeling better. My boss is away this week so I'm going to have a lovely chilled out few days. Went for a walk in the sun yesterday felt really good to do some exercise i might even consider going to the gym for the first time in months. I tried on some of my smaller slimmer sister's maternity wear on yesterday and felt like a whale. She asked if she could take back the shorts in case i stretched them with my thighs before her next pregnancy!! She also said that i looked like i was wearing a tent in a maxi dress (sadly i did) and shouted quick take it off before DH sees it! Sisters eh - not known for tact or sensitivity. To be fair it did incentivise me to tone up a bit while i still can...

cupofteaplease · 26/04/2011 18:11

Back at work today after the Easter holiday- was a bit of a shock!

In the space of half an hour though I had my head teacher telling me that my bump is big, and another colleague telling me I have lost weight... I have real issues with my weight and appearance so I hate how being pregnant makes you public property. Anyway, I have started to really watch what I eat and move a lot more, now the tiredness has begun to wear off! I am heading out to aqua aerobics at 8pm, figured I will ease myself into exercise this way. I am 15+5 and feeling very large in the evenings, not so bad during the day.

I have the midwofe on Thursday and consultant next Wednesday- I'm hoping one of them tries to hear the heartbeat. Smile

Hope everyone else is ok Smile

TallyBear · 26/04/2011 22:10

Yes jojoba, had palpitations most of the way through already. Some nights worse than others. They feel very odd. I was worried at first but googled and felt a bit better about it. Did forget to mention to mw though.

I'm 14+2 today and still no bump. Just tummy flab. Still got two weeks until 16wk app with mw. Starting to feel very paranoid now. I just want to know it's all OK. Feel a bit in limbo. Between the scan and the 16wk app nothing seems to happen, except a bump and I don't have that. sigh!

SconesForTea · 27/04/2011 09:54

Yay just found out yesterday that a friend is 14w too with a due date 2 days away from mine! Grin She lives just round the corner, it'll be great doing baby things together.

Fleecy · 27/04/2011 10:48

Sorry to hear about your car cheshire - that's just the sort of thing to spoil one's day Sad 'Silly' little things that really get to you.

Had my 16k appointment yesterday and heard the heartbeat. Was very exciting. Don't see the midwife now until 28 weeks so I know what you mean about being in limbo tally. Just the scan and that's it for the next 12 weeks!

I was also feeling smug about my 4lb gain up until 14 weeks then suddenly have put on another 4lb. Figured it was due to junk food so cut that out for two days and dropped 2lb just like that. So I figured it's just fluctuations and I should just eat as healthily as possible and stop worrying!

BabCNesbitt · 27/04/2011 16:29

God, I'm anxious now because I've no clue how much weight I've put on! I haven't had scales in my house for years - I could have put on half a stone already and I wouldn't know (although looking at the gut on me would be a hint... Blush )

Fleecy · 27/04/2011 17:09

I'd say it's best not to get too hung up on weight in pregnancy, better to listen to your body (am trying to follow own advice!). Anyway, it's not a gut - it's a bump Smile

CheshireDing · 27/04/2011 17:45

My jeans not longer meet to fasten :( Bad days :(

Had to go out last night with one of those belly band things underneath - glad DH bought me that the other week, phew!

BabCNesbitt · 27/04/2011 22:34

It's a very wobbly, and currently custard-filled, bump. Grin

PenguinArmy · 27/04/2011 23:18

weight gain is not linear

Trousers and jeans are ok, tops are becoming an issue.

Supposed to be climbing this evening but have no energy. Also been at a 'summit' the last two days so have consumed vast amounts of caffeine. However it's the only way to get through conferences.

Confused2011 · 28/04/2011 08:41

Hello October Baby Bus, do you mind if I join you?

1st DC due 25th October.

Just spent ages reading the thread and wanted to say to BabCNesbitt that you're right, your 20 week anomaly scan is definitely too late. The whole point of having the anomaly scan at 20 weeks is so that in the very unlikely event that the scan shows a serious problem you can have any further tests needed (eg amniocentesis) and if you decide to terminate the pregnancy you can do it before the 24 week deadline. I'd get on the phone to them today.

BTW, I also have no proper bump but tummy now looking very very fat due to the steroids I've had to take over the last 3 months! Am so fed up with random men I meet saying "so when's the baby due" or "so I see you've been eating rather too much recently, ha ha!", especially as DH has decided that because we're very high risk we shouldn't tell anyone about the pregancy until after the 20 week scan, lol! I know they only mean well, but it's really difficult to respond politely and without giving away that I am indeed pregnant!

Confused xx

SconesForTea · 28/04/2011 09:36

Confused are random men really commenting on your weight!? That is utterly shocking. I am surprised by how readily people comment on my tummy now I'm pg but it's in marked contrast to not being pg - then people know it's rude to comment on weight gain (not loss tho Grin). It's like once you're pg you really are public property.

Why are you high risk (you don't have to answer if you don't want to of course, now I'm being nosy).

Any other BFers finding it increasingly painful? Over the last week it's become progressively more painful and now I'm not really enjoying BF any more. It feels like she's knawing my nipples off. For the first time considering weaning.

Crawling · 28/04/2011 09:42

I was bf DD but she started going off it once I became pg and does not want to feed anymore but it was starting to feel like I was feeding a crocodile.

I told DS he got very excited (DD too young to understand) he drew a lovely picture of the baby insisted on getting all the baby photos out and wants to name the baby Garfield.

Crawling · 28/04/2011 09:43

I am also looking forward to my anomaly scan which is two weeks tomorrow Grin

MamaMaiasaura · 28/04/2011 13:19

Sconesfortea- yes found bfing painful but about a week ago it's got better. He only nurses at bed time usually. I've tried to follow his cues with nursing etc but I was getting so sore I was close to stopping him completely. Thro it now thankfully tho my nipple area red and like eczema. Lasinoh not helping so using sudocrem. They are VERY itchy tho.

We got bug here and I'm exhausted. See midwife Tuesday and hope to hear heartbeat. I'm 14+5 now. NTscan came back low risk and anomoly scan beginnng June

Confused2011 · 28/04/2011 14:22

SconesForTea, well they're not completely random, they're all people I vaguely know eg DH's friends from the pub, a tenor from my choir, etc... and of course I am actually pregnant and to an untrained (ie male) eye probably look heavily pregnant because the fat is all on my tummy due to the steroids.

Re the high risk pregnancy, it's for four different reasons, but I don't really want to go into it as it's stressful enough already!

Now I really fancy some scones for tea. I wonder if the local shop has some in...

BabCNesbitt, just realised that the date for your scan was probably an administrative error. 24+4 is exactly one calendar month after 20+1, which would be a perfectly normal anomaly scan date. They probably just got the months muddled up when booking the scan!

PenguinArmy · 28/04/2011 14:51

yes I'm struggling with BF too. Painful when she first latches on and getting progressively worse, if it carries on some reassessment will be required.

BabCNesbitt · 28/04/2011 14:56

Hi Confused - same EDD here! No, they moved it forward because it was meant to be 22 weeks (seems to be the standard at King's?), but we're on holiday that week (holidayholidayholidayholiday! can't wait! Grin ). Fortunately, when I gave them a call, they were able to bring it forward, so the next scan will be on 15th June - a wee bit more reasonable!

Jojoba1986 · 28/04/2011 17:20

Hi all,
Thanks for all the reassurance! Haven't had any palpitations since the day I posted! Probably just my body recovering from being ill!

TallyBear I wouldn't worry too much about not having a bump yet - I'm 16 weeks today & I'm just looking like my tummy needs toning!! I'm hating this phase... I don't think I'll mind looking pregnant but I really do look like I've just been eating too much! :( That's weird in itself though because I've barely put on any weight since before I was pg! Hopefully I'll suddenly expand in the next few weeks! Grin

CheshireDing · 28/04/2011 17:41

Welcome Confused.

I am with you on the little tum bit Tally, that's the worst when it looks like you just have a muffin top and have been stuffing your face :0

Thankfully I am now clearly pregnant looking :) and quite pleased now (wasn't sure how I would feel at first).

cheekydino · 28/04/2011 19:59

Just found this thread, can I jump on the bus too? Am due 1st October, but as my ds was born 9 weeks early am expecting to hop off this bus before that!

Am also a teacher (as many others seem to be!) - first day back teaching today, but even though to me I look huge, none of the kids seemed to notice. I also hate this stage and can't wait to be more obviously pregnant.
I have put on a lot but I think it's the chocolate I can't stop eating Smile - anyone recommend some better snacks for a fruit-avoider?!

CheshireDing · 28/04/2011 21:04

What about nuts Cheeky? (except peanuts)

cassnstar · 28/04/2011 21:18

I haven't posted in a while. I'm 14 weeks exactly today, and all the physical symptoms went a couple of weeks ago, including the constant starving attacks. Just left with utter utter weepiness and grumpiness to contend with, and to inflict on others. Totally fed up with being fed up! This is a shock pregancy brought about by our own stupidity but although I allowed myself to think about it, I just could not face termination. So we are both 40 with a 12 year gap to our second child, just when I thought I might get a properly paying job to fund university fees and maybe the odd holiday (farmers so rarely happens) and now I have to think again....

Tamashii · 29/04/2011 08:26

Hello everyone. I haven't posted on here for ages but have been trying to keep up with the thread(s).

I am 18 weeks now unbelievably. Seemed to take an age to get from 12 to 16 weeks and now things seem to be speeding along a bit!!! Still suffering from insomnia but it's really getting to sleep that is the problem. I am also starting to get quite bad pain in the "pubic" area (I hate that word for some prudish reason) - sometimes it feels like my pelvis is trying to pull itself apart - especially if I do any amount of walking. Anyone else?

I am also getting quite bad low back pain too. I think it is def everything stretching and the relaxin kicking in quite a bit since my flabby "custard" flab (as BabC so succinctly put it!) is starting to firm up and turn into a little bump. Usually a small hard bump 1st thing in the morning and then a big bloated bump by bedtime.

On the positive side of things (I am finding it difficult not to just whinge on about my sore downstairs dept atm) I am def feeling little kicks and punches now. Very occassionally though. I just suddenly feel a little dunt or too and then some wriggling about and that is about it. OH seems to be able to feel a lot more than me if I am lying down though. He is like "Whoah - did you feel that???" and I am like "No actually.... what is happening in there?". Weird. With my DS I didn't feel anything really until you could actually see him moving around under the bump and that must have been after 20 weeks.

Anyway, I am off to decide whether or not to attempt to walk through the street party that will be taking place a few streets away to try and get DS to his toddler group this arvo or just to attempt to watch some of the Royal Wedding and rest my aching pelvis....

One other thing - anyone else have awful heartburn? I still have once a week morning sickness which is a gazillion times better than the constant puking for 4 months.

Best of luck to everyone.
