Liabella - Love your wedding story!! How amazing!! :)

strawberrymewmew · 19/04/2011 15:20

BabcNesbitt Because apparently there's no way I can forget it.(Not that I would, obviously)

PenguinArmy · 19/04/2011 17:14

At least with mat clothes we need to wear for a while afterwards (Well I certainly did)

Liabella Your wedding sounds so lovely, it's made a pg girl a bit emotional :) Any honeymoon plans?

Itching! Oh yes itching, I got stung by a bee a couple of days ago and it is driving me mad.

CheshireDing · 19/04/2011 18:11

Yes Fleecy that's what worries me. It's my first baby and what the heck is my bump going to look like by October (disturbed face)!

DH and I have come up with a list of boys and girls names, although I was worried about tempting fate by doing this too early. We even might have agree on first and middle name of each sex already!

It will probably come out and we will call it something completely different though.

TallyBear · 19/04/2011 18:41

Blimey, what a difference with everyone's sizes. I'd like to feel 'proper pregnant' roundabout now, but also would like not be huge - there's no pleasing some people eh? :o

I agree BabCNesbit. I'm a bit worried about making sure I've got clothes for afterwards as well. I doubt clothes shopping will be high on my agenda come November! But what size to get?! You know what girls, this sounds like the perfect excuse for a shopping trip, sans guilt! :)

Liabella your big day sounded lovely. I'm so glad your dress fitted OK. Sounds like a lovely way to announce the news.

PenguinArmy · 19/04/2011 18:52

The only reason I have for wanting to look pg is so that I can get a seat on the bus Grin. Otherwise not too fussed, just the practicalities of clothes. That said, I am still in normal clothes.

I remember in my first pf, knowing exactly how many weeks and days pg I was. Now it's only roughly how many weeks and even then I'm not 100% certain.

Have another appt. tomorrow. Hoping to avoid the internal this time. However, I think he'll say that I feel small and he'll want to check. Last time he put me at 8 weeks when I was 10 and then didn't believe my dates Angry. I got pg the first time I'd had sex since DD, I know the dates. The ultrasound agreed with me though.

bilblio · 19/04/2011 19:00

strawberrymewmew Ooh that would be a good date. DD has a memorable birth date and I admit it's been very useful. It helps me to remember DH's birthday too as it's the same date but a different month. I always struggled before. Blush

Names are a big issue at our house.
With DD we had no girl's names at all until about 6 or 7 months. Then one day I was googling for pictures of an island DH and I both love and pictures of girls (and the odd dog Hmm) kept coming up. We realised it was used as a name down in Cornwall (it's one of the Scilly Isles) so that choice was made.
DD has an unusual name, I have an unusual name... so it'd be a bit odd if we went with something normal (and I wouldn't want to.)

If she had been a boy we'd probably still be arguing. I was convinced she was a boy and right from the start wanted Seth. DH had no suggestions and I couldn't think of an alternative he liked. He did finally agree 15 minutes before DD was born and they were talking about interventions that if I had a boy it could be Seth... but only if I cave birth in the 15 minutes the doctors had allowed... he was very relieved DD was a girl and he said the agreement was null and void.. I've spent almost the last 4 years trying to convince him that if we have a boy it should be Seth and I'm still no further on.

DD want's it to be called Simeon... or Himeon... or Nimeon... at least that's what all her "babies" seem to be called Hmm

It may get called Child no.2.

strawberrymewmew · 19/04/2011 19:06

bilblio I doubt he/she will come on that date though. :(

And I love the name Seth, so pretty! And I was pretty much the same, I was determined if we are to have a boy he will be called Zachary. Kind of re-thinking that now though. :/

TallyBear · 19/04/2011 22:12

One of my friends has a little boy called Seth and he suits it perfectly. I really like Zachary but dh doesn't.

I find girls names so much easier than boys...

Fleecy · 19/04/2011 22:26

Don't worry cheshire we will all be huge by then!

My original date was 9/10/11 but as I'm having CS at 39 weeks I know I definitely won't get that far along!

Congratulations liabella or Mrs as we should now call you. Glad you had a wonderful day Smile

Hello to the newcomers, lovely to see more on here.

sunface I have the opposite - am a size 10 on the bottom and 8 on top. So I have to create a waist usually so as not to look pear shaped. I find it easier in early/mid pregnancy as loose tops even me out a bit. Sadly most of my weight will go straight on my legs though for a lovely overall chunky look soon!

How much weight have people gained? I've put on 4lb so far which seems okay but am very wary as I put on far too much the last two times and it wasn't easy to shift the extra. Have booked in to get a gym programme on Sunday as I'm just not sure how much I can exercise and what's safe.

PenguinArmy · 19/04/2011 22:45

My doc is a bit obsessed with weight, I'm to gain 25lbs, 5, 10 and 10. Hmm I get weighed at every visit, that's what they like to do over here. I put on 26lbs in total last time (which I felt for more was a little too much) but most of that was put on at the end. Was a while before I gained anything significant.

Looks like I've put on 4lbs as well, but will get a more proper weigh in tomorrow (on scales that don't change depending on where you put them).

I'm planning my road trip around America atm, getting quite excited :)

The gym people should know, I'd be wary of stomach intensive exercises, but I am still climbing quite happily and still improving slightly as well. Exercise in pg largely depends on pre-pg baseline though. I've stopped running as I was finding it all a bit stressful.

Names?

babybabybabyooo · 19/04/2011 22:57

Hi. I am new to this thread. I am due at the start of October. Just looking at some posts saying about showing I'm not showing apart from the weight I have always had. I don't feel much different either.

PenguinArmy · 19/04/2011 23:21

Hi and welcome baby... I take it this is your first, if so, it's completely normal :)

chocolatehobnobs · 20/04/2011 07:26

Hello to all the newcomers. Congrats Jill. And also Mrs Liabella. Your wedding sounded very romantic and lovely.
Glad your scan went well Dannid, you and I are sitting on the back seat together. I am due 30th October.
Last time I checked I had lost 6 pounds but have a fat little tummy sticking out! Don't know where the weight went from! DH is much happier now. He was quite stressed for the first 6 weeks that life was over as we know it (despite ttc for 6 months) so no happy accident!

Liabella · 20/04/2011 08:30

Thank you for all your lovely comments. We have just been looking at some photos that my dad took and it's quite unbelievable that we look like one of those couples you see in wedding magazines (only I'm short and a but dumpy and he's exceptionally tall!!)

Everyone reacted really positively to the news. MIL clapped like a little kid and kept squealing saying, "oooh I'm so excited!"

My mum burst into tears (even though she's known since week 3! I think it was the relief of not having to keep it secret anymore!)

My brother beamed and said, "Wow! Cool! Gonna be an uncle, hey?" Followed by, "I think it looks like a boy."

My SIL beamed, got a bit teary and said, "I think it's a girl!"

So they are now having a bet on that!

My dad is really happy about being a grandad. Weirdly all three grandparents (DH's dad died last year) said they don't want to be called Grandad/Grandma/Nanny/Gran etc. so trying to figure out what they DO want to be called! I think they'll change their minds - they won't really want to be called Maureen, George and Margaret by their little grandchild!!!

We are going to Venice on honeymoon (5 star hotel on the Grand Canal - it's MIL's gift to us) in May half term (more teachers here!) and can't wait - although finding it hard to imagine how big I'll be. Now that the wedding is over, I'm not watching what I eat so obsessively and I swear I've gained 5 pounds in two days!!

SconesForTea · 20/04/2011 09:42

Congratulations Liabella how absolutely lovely Smile Have a wonderful honeymoon. I would adore to go to Venice. Make the very most of your child-free time! Holidays are just not the same avec enfant.

I reckon most exercise is ok except as PA said stomach-intensive ones, and high-impact ones with a danger of falling - horse-riding etc. Having said that I'm still riding my bike and intend to all summer even though you're not 'meant' to for risk of falling. (We have bought DD a little trailer to sit in - it's so cute.)

PA I am Shock at having in internal - I would just say no - and also Shock at the prescriptive weight gain. FGS everyone is different, you can't just gain to order like that! Apart from anything, the guidelines issed by some US body - not sure which - say if you're normal BMI to start, weight gain should be between 25 and 35 lb. So I'd tell your dr to double fuck off Grin Have fun planning the road trip.

I just can't get over this weather! Wow I am loving being a SAHM at last.

rebelwithoutababy · 20/04/2011 10:27

Morning all! Liabella congratulations on becoming a "Mrs" and what a lovely day it sounds like! Envy for your honeymoon too!! I am 15+3 now with first and getting increasingly difficult to hide it: I had got really fit and slim after my wedding last summer, and then MS in 1st trim meant I ate loads to suppress nausea so have put on 7lb!! (and am only little) I look fat and pg...am trying not to stress about it too much, but is hard as have been on diet pretty much whole life and is difficult to cope with weight gain...I know I have put on more than I should, but now I have more energy, I am going back to gym.
penguin and fleecy I am going to avoid tummy exercises, but went to pilates last night and tomorrow night am going back to gym to do cycle/x-trainer and weights (low weights, high reps to avoid damage to joints due to relaxin, I have been told...): need to stop bum expanding at rate of knots! (Although my sis told me she thinks it needs to get bigger to act as counter-weight to bump, which I thought was quite incisive!)
scones totally agree with you re: weight gain though - is just hard in sizeist society we live in!
Still no joy with meeting boss to tell her (and therefore all other work colleagues!)...am off for whole 11 day-bank hol extravaganza so will have to do it when get back in May: when I will be 17 weeks!!!
Roll on Bank Hols and sun!!!
xx

Crawling · 20/04/2011 10:44

Liabella congratulations on your wedding Smile.

I had my screening bloods Monday and listened to beans heartbeat Smile My Mw wrote on my notes no significant growth and I thought my tummy was big now. After the bloods were taken she said they forgot my HIV test at 8 weeks so I have to have more blood taken. Hope everyone is well.

rebelwithoutababy · 20/04/2011 11:51

why is 9th October a funny EDD?!! It is mine too....Confused

monkeybubbles · 20/04/2011 12:03

rebelwithoutababy 9/10/11 :)

as for exercise, had my first pregnancy yoga class last night after being completely still for 3 months for fear of jiggling the baby around too much. and now after a few gentle stretches i'm really sore! just hoping that these stretches will eventually help my hips to be less sore (as they're worse today than they have been so far!)

and keep forgetting to mention, am @pregnantnlondon on twitter if anyone else is one there and feels like a chat :)

Crawling · 20/04/2011 12:03

Rebel if your baby was born on that day its DOB would be 09/10/11

rebelwithoutababy · 20/04/2011 12:08

oh! I have baby brain already!! That is clever...I am stupid! xx

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 20/04/2011 13:09

Don't worry rebel it went totally over my head too
Grin

CheshireDing · 20/04/2011 15:28

Liabella your wedding day sounds lovely, glad everyone was so excited and pleased.

We had our midwife appointment this afternoon and got to hear it's heartbeat again (still going strong) and it kicked the listening machine thing - can't remember what it's called, a couple of times too!

Midwife said no more sit ups :) now but I can still weight lift, swim and cycle as long as I don't fall off of course.

I did ask her if my tum was too big but she said it was fine and normal, I'm not really convinced though!

rebelwithoutababy · 20/04/2011 16:38

Glad to hear all good with you cheshire, plus reassuring about exercise stuff. Just saw all the talk on baby names: I have been thinking about this loads and have a list. DH thinks it's too early and he doesn't want to think about it yet, as he doesn't want to talk about it for the next 5 months. He said same about wedding plans last year! Never mind, gives me plenty of time to hone the list down to my perfect shortlist! xx
