Morning all

WOW, it's HOT!!!!! First time in the whole pregnancy I have wanted to be in the office for the air con!

Super I let DH choose the buggy for the same reasons with DS, I hated them and the only small ish ones I kind of liked he hated because they were not manly enough and as it was we got it in the sale from £140 in Smythes rather than the £400 it was in other shops - I didn't really use it apart from the car seat bit, I carried DS in slings most of the times and then we bought a baby jogger running buggy which he as lived in since about 12 months. I think we have found the one we are getting, the baby jogger city select twin. I didn't want a side by side twin one or the ones where they are one on top of the other so this looks like the best bet and holds them from car seat to toddler. It's very long and big but hey I'm hardly going to have a neat little buggy with two of them. I'm more worried about the changing bag issue and having one big enough for the two babies and DS's bits. Hoping he will be out of nappies by then but will still need juice, snacks, wipes, books/smal. toys etc!

This time he is having no such choice as I will be fairly heavily reliant on a buggy with two so I want a buggy I can use functionally (I did never work out the functionality of the first one!)

sassy with my worrying head on, when you were 6 months did you have days where you were the babies felt like they were having a party in there and then not much at all bar a few little prods here and there the next day? I don't think they like the heat as they are very quiet! compared to early last week! Also now they have moved around a bit I can't distinguish between the two as much, does that become clearer?

superjobeespecs · 27/06/2011 12:57

oh definately it takes all the hassle out for us stressed out mummys but your right to choose yourself this time, if we were having multiples i dread to think what my OH would pick!!

babs hyper this afternoon the wee bum i read on baby centre he's about a foot long scared the pants off me i keep thinking he's only 2 or 3 inches Blush i forget they grow Grin

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 27/06/2011 14:41

am v.v.v jealous of the hot weather, we're still in winter woolies up in scotland, someone in work today said "they are now saying we won't get a summer this year" i actually LOLed who in scotland thought we might still get a summer Angry

i want to relocate either down south or abroad.

PenguinArmy · 27/06/2011 17:16

Edward I had a week in Skye a few years ago with cloudless skies for a whole week. I was Shocked at but very :) about it, especially since we were camping.

We won't buy anything until we get back to the UK. Not sure about cots or whether to try and put DD into a bed. I think I'll look out for cheap or second hand ones. Figure a moses basket will do for a while. I think I'll wait a while before the buggy, if at all, as I want to live there for a while to see what type of majority movement we end up doing. Will need to buy some clothes. Brought hardly any for DD as a friend who had had 3 girls gave us tonnes. My mum works for a supermarket though so think I'll get a load of plain stuff with her staff discount Grin. Otherwise the only thing I can think of is a car seat.

I still can't get over how much Nigel moves compared to DD.

I have now finished work and am technically unemployed :)

chocolatehobnobs · 27/06/2011 17:26

Hello everyone. Blimey it's hot! Have been sitting inside watching the tennis, making the most of my last day off before I'm back to work. Two Williams girls knocked out!
I had a bit of a shocker this morning when I got on the scales. I have ballooned by 10lb! No wonder I am feeling like a beach ball. A bit scary with 4 months still to goBlush. I stood on the gym scales 2 weeks ago and they said i had put on no weight Confused so i have been enjoying ice cream, fish and chips and fizzy vimto for the last week in Cornwall. DH says i do look a little bigger though. How is everyone else going with the weight gain?

A few days ago we visited Tintagel Castle and with difficulty i hauled myself up around a hundred very steep steps. That evening i felt an almighty movement and my previously low shape changed to a much higher rounder bump. Apparently this is a well known way to turn a baby if anyone ends up with a baby lying the wrong way at the end!

The good news is that Isabella Oliver have started their big summer sale today so i have treated myself to some new threads to avoid looking quite so podgy.

PenguinArmy · 27/06/2011 17:35

I reckon I've put on about 20lbs, not looking forward to the OB visit this week

PenguinArmy · 27/06/2011 17:37

Looks like it 15lbs

Confused2011 · 27/06/2011 20:18

BB3 we are going for a Baby Jogger stroller too - the City Mini www.babyjogger.co.uk/citymini.html - but we're changing the wheels to the 12 inch soft wheels so it looks more like a Chelsea Tractor than a Maclaren (very important when shopping on the Kings Road, you know...). Best bit is that it folds in half with one hand - www.babyjogger.co.uk/feature.html - so really easy to put in the car or fold up to store in the front hallway.

We've also chosen the cot - a co-sleeper with open bars - www.nctshop.co.uk/Babybay-Bedside-Cot/productinfo/4361/ Quite expensive, but worth it for the peace of mind. Plus it converts into a cute bench for their room when they grow out of it!

Starting to think about cotbeds too, but they're all so different (and expensive...). I don't really care what it looks like as a cot, but definitely need the bed to have normal sized ends and would love one of the ones you can make into a sofa for the daytime too!

cheekydino · 27/06/2011 20:27

Hello all,
Glad everyone is getting excited about buying things and feeling lots of movement. Mine seems to vary daily depending on her position, but I love feeling her move. I haven't managed to do any of the shopping I have been planning yet, but waiting until I finish work for the summer (am a teacher!) instead.

Had horrible scare last week and had to get checked out by the hospital - long story but luckily all seems ok now, although it does appear that I am more likely to have this one early like my ds. Has motivated me to do more planning and sort out my hospital bag! Far too early, but better to be safe than sorry.

mrshende great news about the job! Here's to having a restful summer!

CheshireDing · 27/06/2011 22:15

Hi all
Is anyone else feeling as pathetic as me right now, I seemed to be okay for a few months and had got over the neurotic-ness but now can't stop crying over stupid shitty things, tonight (and brace yourselves ladies) DH asked if I wanted some ice cream and it was the fancy type like choc and caramel and strawberries and cream and I had had a whinging client at work and the ice cream just topped it really so I started bawling!

When the he'll ever does ice cream make someone cry I mean I know it was good stuff and all that and I know I was being ridiculous but I really feel very pathetic at the moment.

dannid · 27/06/2011 22:58

Haha no not just you hun...I keep crying about really stupid things too...I got really upset the other day with my hubby and all he had done was suggest that we have king prawns for tea. I however sobbed about it and even now can feel myself welling up at the slight mention of the prawn fiasco!!! Hmm

superjobeespecs · 27/06/2011 23:46

same here cheshire this past week or so ive been really moody then the past 2/3 days i cant stop crying at little things :( feel so daft for it when its usually something really nice but im sobbing my wee heart out Blush today i told OH i was feeling really sad that he wasnt home and how much i cant wait till he transfers back here (long story) and he said he'll be home permanently in 3 months just to hold on and he'd be back and i was all down and feeling crap :(. he called after tea and told me to check my emails - now this is not romantic by any standards under normal circumstances - but he'd emailed me engagement rings he liked and told me to choose!! he said that no matter which i chose when he is home he will have that ring with him and to remember that whenever i feel down :):) .

i should explain we're getting married next year have been engaged forever but never got round to rings as i could never be bothered with it so him taking it in hand like this is just lovely i chose one which had been his first choice and because i was so happy i cried again just miss him so much and the little things he does make it so worthwhile :)

sorry to hijack slightly btw :)

superjobeespecs · 27/06/2011 23:46

wow smiley overdose sorry!!

SconesForTea · 28/06/2011 09:26

Glad everything's ok cheeky

Only 10lb chocolate I have actually stopped weighing myself after I jumped from having gained 14lb to 17lb in one week. That was a couple of weeks ago so I dread to think how much it is now. In the last few days I've bumped into a few people who've congratulated me and asked when it's due, and then I've had that shocked look when I say October. I almost wish I had an obs to tell me off for eating so much Blush I don't see the MW again until 28 weeks. It seems a long way away.

So you reckon your baby might have been breech and has turned?

A friend has said we can have her Phil and Teds double buggy, she hardly uses it, so that's our decision made for us Grin Phew, I absolutely hate doing the buggy research. I guess if we don't get along with it, at least there's one scratched off the list.

This one hardly moves for me. I'm trying not to stress about it as DH reminds me that DD hardly moved either (or rather, they move but I can't feel it). I can go a whole day without feeling anything and then I get a tiny little prod to remind me there's someone in there. Very jealous of all your activity!

SconesForTea · 28/06/2011 09:28

Somehow missed your post superjo congrats on choosing a ring!

BB3 · 28/06/2011 09:35

Ah super what a lovely lovely gesture by your OH, that's such a sweet and lovely thing to do! I bet you cannot wait for him to come home!

confused nice cot, and buggy, I didn't know you could change the wheels on them, might look into it!

I seem to flick between rage and tears a lot this week. I went ballistic (again) at DH yesterday and then gush at the smallest thing!

Another scorcher today - LOVING the air conditioning in the office! Can't wait for tomorrow DH is home finally and he can at the very least experience my mood swings in person rather than online!!

superjobeespecs · 28/06/2011 10:18

thanks scones and bb3 he's a wee star honestly he always knows how to get me out my moods :) was crying to my mum she's suddenly went into wedding overdrive again wish i hadnt told her!! ah well lol.

got kicked awake at 20 past 6 this morning took my breath away i swear DD wasnt this hyper till much further on tho she used to do backflips till about 32 weeks Hmm mad children i grow Grin

emmazed · 28/06/2011 10:56

lovely story super, that was so sweet of him.

i have put on about 17lb. v scary, but as long as it means my little boy is getting bigger (rather than me) then it is ok.

i am looking into cots as well - not sure about getting a cotbed or just a normal cot. also i want a moses basket, but my DH wants a crib because he says moses baskets look so flimsy. anyone who has kids got any advice/thoughts?

i think nesting may be kicking in too, i spent most of the weekend doing DIY (power sanding and painting) trying to sort out our very ancient furniture so it is suitable for the nursery. we have an old wooden box i am trying to turn into a toy box and thinking about our lo using it in the future makes me so excited!

superjobeespecs · 28/06/2011 11:09

thank you :)

on the baby beds note, i used a moses for DD then into her cot bed at 6 weeks ish, moses was great as i could sun her at the window plus v.v. cosy as blanket was smushed around her rather than flat in a cot. on top of that the handles are strong enough to cart them about without worrying about them being flimsy i promise :). my sister used a crib for her DCs im really not fussed on them personally but she never had any problems my nephew was in his for 4 months and my niece about 3 or 4 IIRC.

this time im going straight to a cot, my friends wee girl went straight to cot and wasnt any problem. not going for a cot bed as DD has bunks and once boys old enough he'll be going in the bottom bunk with gaurds as they'll be sharing till we move to a bigger house.

BabCNesbitt · 28/06/2011 14:02

Hi all - sorry for the long silence, and I've been catching up on all your news! Just got back from holiday a couple of nights ago, but had been quiet for a wee while before then, as we found out that my mum had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a mastectomy a few days later, and touch wood, it seems to have gone OK - her lymph nodes appear to be clear, and they think they've managed to remove the whole tumour. We're just waiting for the consultant to confirm that she won't need any further treatment, and keeping fingers crossed.

Other than that, had the scan two weeks ago, and it's a wee lassie! Will have to hare along to the Baby Names forum, as we have no idea about names for girls - if she'd been a boy, we'd have been sorted, but so many girls' names sound silly with my surname (which rhymes with 'Jack')! The holiday was glorious as long as we were just sitting around reading (which, to be honest, we did most of the time Blush ) but dammit, ligament stretching pain left me almost bent double if I overdid the walking (as I discovered after a day traipsing around Granada with an 8.30am start at the Alhambra... )

Re. buying buggies, cots etc - we're kind of in two minds, as the plan is still to emigrate to the US when the wee yin is about 4 months old. It seems daft to buy lots of stuff here that would cost a fortune (and take a while) to ship, so we're considering doing things as low-maintenance as possible - co-sleeping and moses basket to start with, sling rather than buggy (assuming my back doesn't give out!), that sort of thing. I'm just hoping that that's not overly optimistic, though!

BB3 · 28/06/2011 16:47

BabyC sorry about your mum, fingers crossed they have got everything out x Your plan sounds good, you should get away with a sling for that time moses basket for the early bit but they grow out of them soon enough.

We got a fairly sturdy moses basket from John Lewis for DS and it was brilliant we lugged it everywhere with us and he slept in it really well.

I have eaten my own body weight in food today, toast, fruit and yogurt for breakfast, jacket potatoe and a big salad for lunch, and now a mars bar twin thing! NO WAY am I weighing myself before these babies are out!!

PenguinArmy · 28/06/2011 17:07

RabC Sorry about your mum but for you all

We moved to the states last year when DD was 3.5 months old (OK we're moving back again but it was always short term). We did the same, brought hardly anything and got a good buggy and new crib once we got over here. Before that we set aside the money and got a lot of stuff from friends or freecycle.

sassy34264 · 28/06/2011 20:25

bb3 it sounds daft considering it wasnt that long ago but im racking my brains to remember! i think there where some days more active than others, but i did feel them move every day. my twin 1 -jacob was head down from the 20 week scan and to my knowledge he never moved (lazy bugger) i had 4 more scans after that one and he was always in that position. he stayed on my left side. isobel was the wriggler and was feet down, head down and transverse at some point, so it was very easy for me to tell them apart. i never lost them from being distinctly left and right. but i do know that not everyone can tell them apart. i think as they get bigger with less room they will be more distinctive. dont want to scare you but i would say that you need to feel them everyday, i think the protocol is 10 times a day, although i never counted as long as i knew when i went to bed that i had felt them. we had a lady on our sept 10 thread who hadnt felt hers move for a while (cant be sure how long, must of only been 24 hours are so) and the midwife told her to go the hospital the next day. it was a fri and she wanted to wait till the mon cos of her work commitments and the midwife rather bluntly put it to her that her work commitments couldnt possibly be more important than having a dead baby. so she went in and ended up having an emergency c section at 26 weeks. i cant remember what was wrong with him now, but he was/is fine.
wishing your mum well babc

Confused2011 · 28/06/2011 22:02

So sorry to hear about your mum BabC. Hope she is ok. Make sure she takes all the treatments the doctors recommend - I've heard about loads of people with breast cancer who get completely freaked out and do their own thing with aromatherapy and herbal remedies, with the obvious consequences...

BB3 · 29/06/2011 10:03

sassy I definitely feel them everyday, it's more that I go from having a dance party in my tummy, complete with salsa dancing and the can can to a fairly quiet day with some small kicks on my insides! So it was quiet all weekend some kicks but light ones inside but yesterday and today I clocked up over 30 movements (goodness knows which one they were from as the midwife said they are side by side but the last scan they were top and bottom). There was a lot of wiggling around last night and I am pretty sure one of them was doing somersaults in there!

Who watched baby hospital last night - I think for the first time I didn't cry (although it was very sad with the triplets).
