goldenflower i thought i was the only one with the hormonal grumpiness im almost glad im not Hmm ive been a right mardy cow snapping at my mum who wont shut up about wedding plans and bridesmaids dresses and bloody tablecloths and oh i hope you dont think im taking over blah blah. ive tried saying to her nicely ''mum im 5 months pg, the wedding isnt until next year will you please let me deal with one massive life changing thing at a time?'' but the dozy mare wont listen so i keep hanging up the phone on her Grin saying that the other day i hung up on her and 5 mins later got a text saying ''have you thought about a buffet or do you want a sit down meal?'' i burst out laughing the womans unstoppable!! OH nad DD havent had too much of the brunt of it tho DDs not happy at getting a brother rather than a sister so has been acting up royally the past few days :( ive left it to OH to deal with her moods as the baby doesnt like me telling her off

superjobeespecs · 19/06/2011 12:02

OH and DD not nad Hmm

MissusTulip · 19/06/2011 22:17

HI everyone, just found this thread! I'm due on 24th October with first baby, had 20 week scan last Saturday, all good and we're having a little boy!!!

Quick question, does anyone else have a lop-sided tummy? My belly button seems to be moving from side to side, certainly ain't in the middle any more Confused

bilblio · 19/06/2011 22:38

Hi MissusTulip, and Welcome, I recognise you from the SPD thread. We're due on the same day. Don't know what I'm having... other than a very fidgety, slightly stubborn baby :0

I don't know about my belly being lobsided, but is certainly changes size on a daily basis. Wednesday/Thursday I looked huge! Today I'm back to just looking overweight. But as I've said I do have a very fidgety baby. Last week at the scan the feet were on the right. A couple of days later the kicks were definitely on the left. Today I've been relaxing, (i.e. feeling dreadful and hurting from SPD) and LO has been making the most of my inactivity by having a really good fidget all day. Mid afternoon the kicks were in the middle of my belly, and now they're back on the right.

DD is loving all this movement. Especially as you can see the strong kicks now.

superjobeespecs · 19/06/2011 22:42

hey misstulip when i was pg with DD and now again with DS my tum angles to the left!! not always but every now and again i'll notice :) think my left side is comfier for babs :)

MissusTulip · 19/06/2011 22:44

Hi biblio, my DH feels a bit tantalised - I keep trying to get his hand to the kicking area in time and failing... Also got a right little fidget in there, who has spent this evening kcking me in the cervix, nice! Obs, can't get DH to feel the kicks there Grin Hope ur SPD settles a bit with the rest today

BB3 · 20/06/2011 06:37

Hi MissusTulip - oooh the cervix kicks are the worst - twin 1 of mine does nothing but kick me in the cervix between 11 and 12 in the evening and it's so uncomfortable (not that I'd change having him or her for the world but I wish he/she would just turn round and kick something else!). Hope your SPD calms down, I get bouts of sciatica and that is painful enough so don't envy any of you girls with SPD. Two of the ladies on my first thread had SPD so bad that they were bed and wheelchair bound for most of their pregnancy and still suffer from it now (one has had to fight for two years and is finally getting the back op she needs) so all I can say is when it comes fight for all your medical support and do not push it, it can be truly debilitating so make sure you all rest!

bilblio my family laugh at my fluctuating size, they say some day I look like I have a nice neat pregnancy bump (that's normally on the days the babies are most active) and then other days when the babies are sleeping out front I look like a baby mountain! I was in the bath last night and that's when I realised how big I was when I had two baby lumps sticking a way out the water!

Re placenta - I have anterior for twin two (top one) so occasionally get nips in the ribs but mostly its muffled whirly movements (which I am getting lots of as I sit writing - it's nice in a way for me because makes it easier to tell the difference between movements of the two of them as twin one is like a donkey with the very powerful kicks!!! Twin one's placenta is blocking the exit at the moment so both are being very difficult (!) DH has finally felt some kicks so he is feeling better about it all, although it has ramped up his desire to sort names out which has in turn ramped up our arguments about names Grin - we can never ever agree on boys names - Girls names are sorted and I could probably pick 40 of them and be happy (was the same with DS) but not boys. DH like traditional names from his country. I, do not!!!

24 week check up today - yay! can't wait to hear my babies heartbeats and will be good to have the dr appointment afterwards and just have the overhaul to make sure everything is ok! Sleep seems to be impossible at the moment have got into a really bad habit of falling asleep during the day or after work for 30 minutes or so that as I am so tired and then despite climbing into bed at 8 desperate for sleep not actually going to sleep until 11 or later and then waking at 4! And DS is REALLY playing up at the moment, biting me, clinging on to me at all times (wanting to be carried everywhere and hugged), fighting sleep constantly - I know it's to be expected with the change for him but honestly why towards the end of the pregnancy when I physically can't cope with all of it! DH comes home in 9 days so will be nice as we can spend time as a family but he can pick up the physical part of it.

Anyway clearly another essay of a post - DS is still asleep so think I have too much time on my hands! Hope everyone has a lovely day, blurgh for Monday and a full working week though but only 10 more weeks left for me... (not that I am counting!!!!)

monkeybubbles · 20/06/2011 13:34

thank you Bumpsadaisie and bilblio for reassurance about low lying placenta. mostly i don't worry too much about it, but then i read a thread about someone in hospital with a series of serious bleeds and get all panicked again!

i'm home ill today, and as i'm almost 24 weeks I thought it was about time to write my maternity leave letter. i'm so nervous about my boss' reaction that it makes me feel horrid just thinking about it, but i guess i just need to get it done. just writing a very basic, formal letter. thought that was best as i know what i'm requesting isn't what she wants, any other suggestions or words of wisdom?

superjobeespecs · 20/06/2011 21:15

im sure our kitten knows i have milk Hmm she keeps lying right under my boobs and i just said to her ''what do you want, you wanting milk?'' and she looked longingly at my boobies Blush she usually hates me but lately has been clingy and likes lying on my bump :) strange animal...

LittlePebble · 21/06/2011 15:21

Monkeybubbles I found a letter template on directgov website that you print off and give to your boss, I used that yesterday (even though my bosses are my DP and his mother so are well aware of my pg!Hmm) thought it best to do everything by book.

Have had to take afternoon off on flexi as exhausted woke up as tired as I went to bed. I have my first pregnancy yoga class tonight so hoping that will be good way of meeting other women in my area who are due around the same time as me. Smile

Crawling · 21/06/2011 18:33

HI all not been on in a while regarding weight loss I gained 3 stone both times and left hospital with a stone to go by 6 weeks it was gone but I had to do lots of situps and crunches to get the muscle tone and a flat stomach back.

As for double buggies I have bought mine it is a Britax B Dual which is a inline tandem like a Phil and Teds but both seats are useable from birth and you can buy a carrycot to attach instead of either seat, you can even have two carrycots so it seemed much better to me. It was expensive but I do a lot of walking and it is only slightly heavier than a medium singleton pushchair.

superjobeespecs · 22/06/2011 10:49

aw i just had the sweetest conversation with the OH than i have in a while and wanted to share it :)

i was talking about our contraception once the wee man arrives and whether i wanted any more kids, i said to him i would be quite happy to leave it at 1 DD and DS or have a whole brood so i'd leave the decision upto him. i said im not going back on the injection as it caused our problems TTC#2 but maybe the implant.

his reply was well the implant can always be taken out so it doesnt have to last 3/5 years and i think we should just leave it upto nature if we have more, we have more if we dont then so be it.

aw my OH wants lots and lots of little babies i think the shock of falling pregnant with #2 has woken him up to the possibility of a football team of mini us's running around Grin

a pretty mundane conversation that will be revisited once DS is here and causing grief but for now im more in love with OH than i have been in my life Blush

Crawling · 22/06/2011 11:40

Thought I would add I dont know if it has been mentioned or if anyone has even thought that far ahead but Tescos have half price electric breast pumps on at the moment.

BB3 · 22/06/2011 11:49

Ah superjobee bless OH, it is nice when they have moments like that. Also nice to have the soppy hormones as well as the raging ones! Enjoy them don't wish them away!

DH is away with family at the moment and he told me this morning when he got to his mums house last night that he saw pictures of DS and had 'water in his eyes' as he calls it! They can be sweet sometimes (although that was not what I was saying last night when he drove me insane with rage!!!)

Am getting a bit too excited about these babies arriving now. Have 10 weeks left at work (which seems like along time but is nearing single figures and only 6 of them are in the office), and we are all reaching the 6 month mark 2/3's of the way through! Can't believe it! They are also playing a merry dance in my tummy at the moment so making their presence very well known!

Hope everyone is enjoying their wednesdays. I can't wait to start buying things. Going to wait until my 32 week scan is done before I buy too much (although I did get some very cute cow teddies from the mamas and pappas outlet at the weekend). Have seen the pram I want and then almost cried at the price (all in over £1000!) but that includes both car seats and everything (although still a hefty price tag). And have seen the nursery wallpaper I want. Do you think I can get away with putting the twins in DS's old large cotbed or will they need two separate cots (they'll be in moses baskets for a few weeks). I want to turn the office next to our bedroom into the nursery but not sure two cots will fit (it's a long thin room!)...

MrsHende · 22/06/2011 14:38

So lovely to hear about all the happy scans! And superjo and BB3 also lovely hear about sweet OHs!

I'm having a great Wednesday because I've made it to the end of the school year! We stopped at lunchtime today, hooray!!!!!!! 8 weeks of putting my feet up and finding baby bargains. I have never felt so relieved to make it to prizegiving!

I think I said a wee while ago that I was worried because my DH was in a temp job that was due to finish before my due date, and I only get 8 weeks full mat pay before going onto SMP. I had visions of going back to work with a 4 week old baby under my desk. Well, another big relief is that DH has got a new job which starts in September! So I can take longer off work and, almost more importantly, DH is actually looking forward to his new job (he hates the current one and it makes him ill).

So, all is well and happy in the Hende house! Grin I hope that the same can be said for all of you too!

Bumpsadaisie · 22/06/2011 15:15

That's really nice to hear Mrs Hende's good news - always a stress worrying about how to fund mat leave - and to hear about the nice DHs.

My DH seems to be more empathetic this time round - not that he wasn't last time, I just think now I've had DD he has a better idea of what's going on in there. Last night he said "it must be really hard running around after DD all day and having the baby whacking you all day and night."

So that was very sweet. I wondered if he was going to fess up to crashing the car or something, but no!

emmazed · 22/06/2011 15:25

great news Mrs Hende you must be so pleased.

We bought our first baby related item at the weekend - a feeding chair. We got it second hand, and didn't want to loose the opportunity in case another good one doesn't turn up.

We also need to get propper wardrobes in our bedroom so we can clear the nursery (we have been living with temporary ones for 2 years!). I have finally ordered the wardrobes, so within a few weeks the room should be (mostly) clear so we can see what space we have (not much i think).

It is so exciting and scary to start thinking like this. I know lots of people wait until later, but i feel a big mental change since the 20 week scan and the kicking. it all feels much more real so i can start to think about doing stuff.

hope you are all having a good day

BB3 · 22/06/2011 16:46

MrsHende What brilliant news and what a relief and yay for more baby time at home!

Gosh it's hot today - really close and uncomfortable!

superjobeespecs · 22/06/2011 17:10

its great when they take they're good moods bb3 reminds us why we put up with them eh Wink my hormones are erratic one minute shouty next minute soppy and gushy but all in all enjoying them Grin

mrshende thats great news, being pregnant is stressful enough at times without extra pressure it must be a relief for you both :)

sassy34264 · 22/06/2011 17:56

bb3 i started to buy stuff at 28 weeks and i my waters broke at 35+5. at that point i couldnt walk far and couldnt possible walk around the supermarket for our weekly shop. not saying you will end up as big as me but be prepared and dont go off timings of singleton pregnancies. i was fine until 30 weeks and then it just hit me like a ton of bricks, i struggled doing the most mundane things. i'

sassy34264 · 22/06/2011 18:23

pics
this is me a whole month before i had babies. the other pic is of them on day 2 in the hospital.
i had mine in one cot bb3 for a few months. i didnt bother with a moses basket.

PenguinArmy · 22/06/2011 18:34

I want cute twins

CheshireDing · 22/06/2011 19:34

Hello everyone been on holiday so need to read through all the last couple of weeks to catch up. Hope everybody is okay though :)

My low lying placenta scan is booked for 1st September which seems ages to have to wait to see if it has buggered off out of the way or not, but fingers crossed I can have a home water birth and not c-section (eck!).

Not since the Mothercare-have-crap-clothes-crying incident have I felt the need to bawl again, until last night. Watched a programme about a hospital in Liverpool and neo-natal etc and even though a little baby died (his Mum had swine flu) the bit which made me cry was when the narrator said "baby Michael has not been visited for 15 days", cue bawling!

Not watching that programme next week if it's on :(

dannid · 22/06/2011 20:07

OMG Cheshire I watched the same programme and sobbed at the exact sane bit. Poor little thing in there all alone!!! I really don't know how the staff do a job like that everyday...must b very rewarding but I would be an emotional wreck! Hope everyone is doing well...starting to feel like I am actually enjoying this pregnancy a bit more now. Bump is wriggling round loads now and people are now noticing that I'm expecting. Have started a pregnancy yoga class too and am loving it...not sure how useful it will b in labour (remembering what I wad like with ds) but it lovely to get some peace and quiet for a couple of hours each week and meet some other mum to be's in the area! Does anyone know if my tax credits will stop while I'm on maternity leave? I am really starting to worry about how little money we will have while I am off...but at the same time I really don't want to have to go back before at least 10mths!!

PenguinArmy · 22/06/2011 20:16

I got offered a seat on the bus the other day, it's official I'm publicly pregnant
