Just found out a friends baby has measles I was in her house yesterday does anyone know if I should let midwife know anything about it or is there no more risk than normal when ur pg?

shelleylou · 11/06/2011 22:02

i would let mw know to be on the safe side edward. Im not sure if theres a greater risk or not though

superjobeespecs · 12/06/2011 20:29

been taking iron tabs for the past 2 days and now have a very sore poo making tummy :(:( hate stupid heamoglobin levels hope everyone else is lovely :)

chocolatehobnobs · 12/06/2011 23:26

Hello everyone, had 20 week scan on Thursday . It was really lovely everything perfect. Dh looked so happy kept telling me well done! And it's a boy. I would have liked a girl TBH but am happy with my healthy little wriggler. Boys' clothes are a bit disappointing Sad. Loving all the little kicks but not my new waddle

PenguinArmy · 12/06/2011 23:50

welcome to the waddle club, I now more than ever need shoes with good arch support.

Anyone's PFs got really bad, is helping cement the decision that I want a CS this time around.

rebelwithoutababy · 13/06/2011 11:43

OMG am wobbling like a weeble! Need proper shoes like my mum always told me I should wear: was wearing ballet flats all weekend and feet and ankles really hurt by end of the day! Had MIL to stay yesterday and was really lovely to talk lots about pg and she kept saying how lovely I look, which is prob not true, but has made me feel nice! Saw a good friend for lunch last week who recommended the iCandy buggy - anyone else got thoughts on this? xx

BB3 · 13/06/2011 14:59

Hello, just popping in to say hello

yay for all the scans and little wrigglers, cupoftea what a truly horrendous experience - I hope your friend gets through it ok.

sassy34264 · 13/06/2011 16:43

hi.
im on the stats thread but not posted on here yet.
im 21 weeks this week and due 26th. i have a 10 year old dd and 10month old b/g twins.
i had my 20 week scan last week and everything looks good. i dont know the sex as i like a surprise.
im enormous and was showing at 2 months! might have something to do with only having a 5 mth gap since last pregnancy. i dont weigh far off what i was at term with twins and i put 5 stones on then! Blush i'd only managed to lose 3 before i was pregnant again. oh well!

elgoldenflower · 14/06/2011 09:35

Hi all and welcome to the waddling club to lots of you.

My SPD's had me waddling for weeks, now it's with distinctive limp when I'm not on my crutches. I won't come out of my birkenstocks, support, flat and lots of extra space as my feet and ankles have started swelling intermittently.

SPD's very frustrating but DP's being very supportive and this support thread is also really helpful for anyone else gettin pelvic pain.

Think I had my first braxton hicks contraction last night. Desperately trying to find a non-painful sleeping position and suddenly felt like my belly was really tense, like a cramp without any pain (and I felt like I needed the loo - sorry for TMI), lasted about a minute then passed.

LO is kicking away this morning to reassure me. Love the feeling of having him here with me.

Superjobee have you discussed Spatone with your doctor/midwife? A lot of mumsnetters use it instead of iron tablets and it's specifically advertised as suitable in pregnancy:

shelleylou · 15/06/2011 08:18

SconesForTea · 15/06/2011 20:44

Congratulations on your boy superjo it sounds like you are very pleased! How did yours go shelley?

Hi sassy you are going to have your hands full!! I would say bloody well done for losing 3 stone in 5 months, that sounds pretty good going to me.

I am completely knackered, I had an active weekend and I can't believe how hard it has hit me. With my first pg I could get away with it, I don't seem to be able to this time Sad Not sleeping particularly well, and have restless legs nearly every night. Gah! Hate it.

Finally it's our scan tomorrow, at nearly 22 weeks Hmm I can't wait.

PenguinArmy · 15/06/2011 20:54

I agree 3 stone in 5 months is amazing. I was still well less than half way to pre pg at that point. Can I just your situation sounds mental (but you sound lovely)

I was still awake at 4am this morning, not sure what time I did get off, but am taking the day as sick leave (I have 10 days I can use and only 8 days left of work).

scones you got a inkling either way or you hoping to keep it a surprise?

superjobeespecs · 15/06/2011 20:57

over the moon i am thanks scones hope urs goes well tomorrow 22 weeks my god i was going stir crazy and im 20+3 you must have the patience of a saint Grin

cupofteaplease · 15/06/2011 21:04

superjo, it sounds like you are very pleased with that outcome!

sassy you will have your hands full, but how much fun to be had in your house with 4 dc?! Grin

I'm still really tired, fell asleep on the sofa at 5.30 for 20 minutes, until my dd1 came and woke me up!

I think I mentioned I was having sharp pains low in my tummy? Well they continued since Friday night, and by yesterday I had had enough was getting a bit concerned it might be a water infection (my bladder stang as soon as I needed a wee). So, I tried to get an appointment, just to get my urine checked and the soonest anyone could see me was NEXT Thursday! Luckily this morning I woke up to a little pain in my back, but my bladder hasn't bothered me all day, so I'm assuming whatever it was (or wasn't!), I managed to flush through with lots of water, squash and cranberry juice. However, I still think the doctors' surgery is rubbish!

PenguinArmy · 15/06/2011 21:07

Shock at your doctors cupof I've being reading some unbelievable stories on here lately with people and their doctors. Wonder what kind of surgery I'll end up in?

superjobeespecs · 15/06/2011 21:25

i am cupof love DD to bits of coarse but a boy cements the family unit IYSWIM? im old fashioned that way with the 2.4 children malarky Blush

your docs sound awful BTW couldnt they have given you an emergency appt? glad your feeling better but docs should make themselves available for you there and then not a week or so away Hmm

Confused2011 · 16/06/2011 08:12

cupof the back pain could mean the water infection has spread to your kidneys! You need to be seen today. I'd try for an emergency appointment at the doctors', or at least with the practice nurse so she can test your urine. When you phone up tell them you think it's spread to your kidneys. If you have no luck there you need to go to the hospital and demand to see a midwife to have your urine tested. If no luck there, go to A&E!!! It's really important to get this sorted out quickly and start antibiotics today because if it's really spread to the kidneys you could get very sick very quickly and may end up in hospital needing antibiotics through a drip!

sassy34264 · 16/06/2011 08:59

admittedly 3 stones in 5 months does sound good, but when you find out that the babies combined weight at birth was 14lbs (1stone) and i was 2 stone lighter at 2 weeks, its not quite the achievement it sounds! Smile
superjo congratulations on having a boy. its so nice to have one of each. i have 2 dd's and 1 ds. it would be lovely to have another ds to have 2 of each but im not bothered now i have both already. dp wants another boy, and keeps saying we have go again if its a girl! good luck with that love! i'll not let him near me for the next 10years until im too old. Wink
cupof i get pains on both sides of my bump (underneath) didnt get them with 1st pregnancy, got them with twins and they're even worse with this one. mine are the ligaments stretching. could it be that? i would still get checked out for a kidney infection though. i had 3 with the twin pregnancy but never had any symptoms so you should get checked every time you have an appointment anyway. my docs/hospital are fanatical about it- even at 35 weeks pregnant when i couldnt even reach they were making me do it! Grin

sassy34264 · 16/06/2011 09:05

also cupof nurses can dip urine. can you get an earlier appointment if you ask for a nurse's appoinment rather than the doc?

Molybdenum · 16/06/2011 10:09

Right I need reassurance on weight gain! Hopped on the scales today and discovered I have gained 10kg! This is waaaay more than I thought I had gained, and more than is generally recommended by this stage (am currently 25+3). However, my BMI was quite low before conceiving, only about 17, so I think that means I am 'allowed' more weight gain in the first two trimesters. Anyone else who was underweight before pregnancy care to share your weight gain? I've had my 25 week midwife appointment and the bump measured exactly 25 weeks, so I know there is nothing untoward going on with the baby or amniotic sac.

I'm starting to feel increasingly tired by the end of the day now, out of proportion to effort. Yesterday was my busy clinic day where I see patients and by the end of it I was exhausted and hoping that my evening appointments would all be no-shows. Of course they all turned up and duly presented me with plenty of complications and medical mysteries. Not sure how I got through it all.

My lower back has started aching a little too. I sleep with a Dream Geni pillow, which thus far has been tremendously helpful, and I have weekly chiropractic appointments just to keep everything in alignment, but am still in a little bit of discomfort. Must spend more time sitting on the ball today.

superjobeespecs · 16/06/2011 10:44

thanks sassy :) ive said to my OH he's getting the snip now ive got what i wanted the look on his face was priceless!! starting to feel envious of cute baby girl clothes in the shops tho Hmm for all my wanting a wee boy now im going aaw but thats so cute luckily i have my 1 yr old niece to combat that Grin ive said to my mum and MIL any more kids after this will be a blessing honestly wouldnt mind either way. one of my friends has 3 girls, her OH has happily said they'll keep going as long as it takes to get a boy never mind her opinion! i think he was kidding...Confused
