BB3, have a lovely break, and I hope it's relaxing despite the presence of the in-laws :)

Confused, legs swollen, yes, but I'm also starting to get paranoid about varicose veins! Fortunately so far everything I feared was the start of a VV has just turned into a bruise, which makes me wonder where the hell they're all coming from. (I also seem to have slightly sprained my ankle during the night, though. Apparently I am a somnambulist Riverdancer.)

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 04/06/2011 21:49

It's pronounced like vary (var-ee)

My nickname refers to twilight and true blood Blush although have been trying to think of a clever nickname for a while. Any suggestions?

I was in mamas and papas today and they have a lot of last years winter stuff half price, I got a lovely wee snowsuit for £18 Grin

ceeceeanne · 05/06/2011 14:48

Hi just found thread. Due 26th oct and have a huge bump!! people still saying im having twins even tho scan says otherwise! have 20 week scan on wed but worried ive not felt kicks yet. I have an 11 yr old girl and 2yr old boy. Hope everyone feeling good

Confused2011 · 05/06/2011 15:48

Welcome ceeceeanne! Looks like we're in sync - I'm due 25th Oct, have 20 week scan on Wed and a have developed a massive bump in the last two weeks... No kicks so far, but lots of fluttering, although this stopped for a few days this week and I was so stressed I got my midwives to listen to the heartbeat!

ceeceeanne · 05/06/2011 17:05

Thanks confused! Keep reading about people feeling kicks at 12 weeks and stupid things like that but my rumblings tend to be wind!! convinced my bump is food but I look very pregnant so who am I to argue! Feeling positive but lacking enthusiasm for uni work. Looking forward to scan and finding out if this one is bigger than my 10 lb boy so far!

suzisew · 05/06/2011 18:02

Hello everybody, I'm new here. Due on 24th Oct (with my first) so am 19+6. Have 20 week scan on Weds and am soo excited. Been feeling flutterings/kicks for past couple of weeks and can't wait for DH to be able to feel them.

bilblio · 05/06/2011 19:52

Hi suzisew! I'm due on the 24th too. My scan is Thursday. I've been feeling kicks for a couple of weeks, DH hasn't felt them yet, he's never around when bump is having a kick, or when DH does arrive bump has decided it's stretched enough and settles down!
DD did feel them for the first time this afternoon though... well I think she did... but she's been saying she could feel it move for weeks.. even before I've felt it. She's very keen :o

For those worrying about not feeling them, try not too, I've realised it varies hugely from person to person, and pregnancy to pregnancy. I felt DD, my first pregnancy, at 14 weeks which was very early. I was expecting the same with this on, but it hung on till 17 weeks before making it's presence truly felt.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 05/06/2011 20:07

Was in nursery store today and saw the most beautiful bedding but for the quilt and bumper set it was £200 and that was it reduced Shock
am I really tight or is that insane for a baby's bedding!

PenguinArmy · 05/06/2011 20:15

It is insane, especially since you're not suppose to use quilts and bumpers (well I guess not until they are much much older). They do look really pretty sitting there, trying to entice you in, but the rational part of my brain used to kick in and my wallet reminding me I didn't have that money to spend on frilly bits.

Welcome to the newbies.

dannid · 05/06/2011 20:51

No I agree, that is completely insane!!! I dont care how pretty it is it cannot honestly be worth that!! And imagine how you'd be feeling when darling LO barfs up all over it! Wink x

SconesForTea · 06/06/2011 09:45

I wouldn't pay £200 for bedding for myself let alone for a baby who will puke all over it!

I'm trying very hard not to stress over the fact that I'm still hardly feeling baby move at 20 weeks. I haven't felt anything for a few days, had a listen with the doppler, still a heartbeat so why can't I feel it Angry I do keep telling myself that every pg is different but it's so frustrating - especially as I'm huge.

I have put on something astonishing like 5lb this week Shock, including 1lb from Saturday to Sunday, when on Saturday we went for a 9-mile very hilly hike. OK we finished at the tea rooms and had massive slices of cake, but still, where is it coming from!!!! I have resolved to put the scales away. I quite enjoyed watching them creep up by 1lb a week last time but this is freaking me out.

rebelwithoutababy · 06/06/2011 09:56

Hi all! Just caught up on news as was at meeting all day Friday and busy weekend. We had our scan on Thurs pm and all is well except my placenta is lying over the cervix at the mo' so I have to have another scan at 36 weeks to make sure it's moved (which they usually do) otherwise it's ECS for me! We also found out it's a lovely girl! I was convinced it was a boy as it's v. wriggly, but am so happy it's healthy that I can cope with the fact that my women's intuition is totally off! Grin
crawling and apples have also gained 1 stone so far (22 weeks now) but have decided not to worry about it - as long as LO is getting nutrition, I am sure it will come off eventually...
scones thanks for advice re: hypno CDs, have had some good guidance about classes from friends who have done it now - and all have only good things to say about it. It's quite expensive, and now I might end up having CS I'm not sure if we should pay for it, so I'm putting it on hold for now...
flower sorry for the SPD pain...hope physio is some help for you [hugs]
Belated happy b.day edward: and congrats on scan!
Smile to all on the bus
xx

happymummytobe · 06/06/2011 10:37

Morning all Smile

I was looking at bugaboos on ebay yesterday and accidentally bid on one - and won! Happily it's the one I wanted in the colour I wanted and was a good price, but still. Hoping it's all ok when it arrives... I guess I can always re-sell if not, but that would be a pain.

Feels much too early to have a pram, but it helps me to feel organised. Realised that the baby is due in just over 4 months which seems like nothing!

Only have a little bump at the moment and am a bit worried about where the baby is - although I can feel him/her wriggling quite a lot.

My scales are taken out for amusement only - think I have put on just over a stone so far and it mainly seems to have gone on my thighs. sigh

xx

lovemybabyboy · 06/06/2011 13:13

Hi all,
Just got home from my 20 week scan, Im 20+2 today! Im soooooo happy! baby was perfect, im sooo relieved! I feel like this might really be happening now! I cant wait, im so excited and want to go shopping! have not bought a single thing yet!! (been too scared because of mmc last august).
We brought our 2.6yr old ds to scan and he seemed to really enjoy it! he was staring at the screen! :)
The baby looked like my DH, same head! hahaha!
Hope everyone is ok, have not been on in ages...going to have a read through now and try to catch up! :)

mpops · 06/06/2011 13:39

Wonderful news about everyone's scans! I can't even bear to look at baby things yet, let alone buy anything, because of all this monitoring I'm getting for possible problems. I'm so worried I might jinx it. I've got three more scans to come, so I think we'll only start buying what we need when we feel more confident that everything is as it should be. I'm worrying so much all the time...

apples82 · 06/06/2011 14:24

Try not to fret mpops, you'll end up getting yourself in a tizz. The LO will be fine i'm sure, you'll just have to ride the rollercoaster Smile

Engelsmeisje · 06/06/2011 15:05

Nice to catch up on everyone's news.

We've just had our 20 week scan as well. Everything looking good. We didn't find out the sex (though DP reckons it's a boy...but then he would, eh?!).

21 weeks tomorrow and I'm finally feeling physically like I'm pregnant. Have a full on bump, though weighed myself again today and am back down to pre-pregnancy weight. Am not quite sure where I can possibly be losing any weight. Had to buy some bigger bras AGAIN today. Will be able to start my own lingerie shop soon Smile

mpops · 06/06/2011 15:06

Thankyou, apples. I know you're right and I am trying but there are some moments when I feel so terribly close to the LO and I get in a complete panic in case anything happens to her.

It doesn't help that I'm in a university hospital where a lot of research is happening, so they encourage close monitoring. My MW was saying that it's been causing a lot of stress to pregnant woman because they feel they are in real danger of something bad happening.

Anyway! Sorry to be a downer. :)

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 06/06/2011 16:11

hi all just to let you all know i saw a great bargain on a cot package on kiddicare.com

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 06/06/2011 16:57

superjobeespecs that bedset is lovely, can't remember but did you say earlier you're also in scotland? i saw gorgeous set in glasgow pram centre, but for quilt and bumper was £200 Shock i loved it though was beautiful. my head & bank account won that one though Wink

TallyBear · 06/06/2011 18:44

Have just caught up after not having been on here for ages... can't believe how quickly the thread moves!

Glad I'm not the only one still feeling tired and not yet 'blooming'! Am feeling a bit happier now I have a bump (albeit a fairly small, wobbly one) and feeling a few flutterings. Got our scan tomorrow PM - bit excited and a bit nervous.

Still only told a few people at work, although I'm sure I keep seeing people glancing at my tummy! I only started this post in April (internal move) so don't know everyone really well yet and I'm also not the type of person to make big sweeping announcements.

I was reading back about mat leave. Like others, I think I'm going to start mine on my EDD (23 Oct) but I'm saving 4 weeks leave so that I can go earlier. We're also looking into the new deal which allows dh to take some of my SML. He is desperate to be a sahd but we just can't afford it so this will at least mean he gets 3 months off work with baby too. I am hoping to take another 4 weeks leave after he goes back. Anything for more time with baby and to delay childcare costs (trying not to think about how much that will cost - since getting pg they've cancelled the work subsidised nursery places and the job I've been moved to means I can't work one day a week from home, as hoped).

Anyway, that's enough from me for now. Off to make a veg curry - trying to cram in as much fruit and veg as I can (also means that I can have the occasional choccy bar and muffin relatively guilt-free!)

PenguinArmy · 06/06/2011 19:23

tally My DH has been a SAHD for the past year and once I return to work hopefully he'll go back to being one. DD was 4 months when he took over. Took him about 3 months to get into it though, admittedly DD was a more high needs baby. If I or him can ever be of help let us know (even if it not asked for another 10 months)

Confused2011 · 06/06/2011 19:47

superjobeespecs love the cot set, but am I right in thinking we're not supposed to use bumpers any more due to the risk of cot death if the LOs don't have enough air circulating?
