Congrats, CheshireDing! I traipsed up and down Oxford Street trying to find maternity stuff, but after several hours had got nothing but hungry, grumpy and sweaty! Mind you, I'd rather have needles shoved under my fingernails than go shopping at the best of times, but I figured that needs must... bollocks to that, though. Online all the way from now on!

BB3 · 07/05/2011 19:03

Cheshire snap with the toilet needs! I was playing on the trampoline with DS at the park last week and that was a BIG mistake Grin

I got some nice light summer dresses in Dorothy Perkins maternity range today they have a few nice bits in at the moment.

My bump seems to be going up and down in size and the movement random at the moment, sometimes lots for an hours on end, then nothing for a while. MS is coming and going as well, so much for it not lasting past the first trimester!!

cheekydino · 07/05/2011 19:34

Snap with the toilet needs too - as my older son is potty-training at the moment I feel like I'm spending my life on or talking about the toilet!

My bump is also up and down (looks huge in the evening!), and the random movement is freaking me out a little - I'm trying to relax about it but I can't wait until my 20 week scan (on 17th) to reassure me.

bilblio · 07/05/2011 19:49

My bump varies in size loads. Some days it's huge and I'm very obviously pregnant, other days I just look a little plump. I blame wind. :o

Still not felt bump move.... just the wind. Getting very impatient, I felt DD at 14 weeks and I'm 15+5 now but nothing yet.
On the plus side DD was a very fidgety baby and managed to tie a knot in her cord. She was very lucky that it only tightened up fully in the last few minutes before she was born.
I keep telling myself that if this one isn't fidgeting yet there's less chance of the same complications... But I'd still like the odd kick, just for reassurance.

Who else was it who had an inverted uterus? Have you felt anything yet?

BB3 · 07/05/2011 19:57

Cheeky snap, with DS (who was a troublesome little fish) I never had any wriggles just full-on kicks from 16 weeks, so this is all a bit new to me and it's making me crazy! I thought it would be more noticeable with twins but who knows when they are going to start wriggling properly am 18 weeks now. I too can't wait until 20 weeks scan - just hoping May hurries up mine is on the 24th!

My DS is potty training too - he has ups and downs with getting it in in the potty at the moment although we are only just starting so we aren't very far in to it yet! Grin he's probably not quite ready but would like to get it done this summer before the twins arrive and he starts nursery x

Am enjoying the cool air that the thunderstorms have brought with them was getting so claustrophobic in the heat x

CheshireDing · 08/05/2011 07:29

Ha ha sorry BB3 the trampoline and wee thought sound very funny :)

Newmom2b · 08/05/2011 11:23

Hi, I'm joining! Due on the 12th oct so am 17 weeks with my first. Still haven't felt movement... Getting impatient now! Lol

BB3 · 08/05/2011 12:49

Hi Newmom

Haha Cheshire, I was in such a difficult position. DS kept trying to pull me up and jump and would not let me get off to run to the toilet anywhere! It took all my pelvic floor strength not to make a very big mess Grin

PunkyBubba · 08/05/2011 16:08

Bilbio, I have a tilted (retroverted) uterus, and thought I felt flutters 1.5 weeks ago over a couple of days, but then came down with a horrendous cough and cold and felt nothing since, so it could just have been my imagination.

Midwife checked babys heartbeat 3 days ago, and all fine, though the initial relief at hearing the heartbeat was tempered by her realisation that we were listening to my heartbeat, so she had to have a quick scout around again to find the babys heartbeat! She appears unconvinced that I have felt baby move yet so who knows..

Also getting impatient as I would love to feel the movement for my own peace of mind. I'm 17+2 now, and still no date for my 20 week scan. Midwife called them up and apparently the midwife unit are having 'issues' with scans at the moment, and as I go on holiday in my 20th week it looks like the scan won't be until mid-June :-(

monkeybubbles · 08/05/2011 18:40

been back at work this week after a nice long easter break, and i'm so exhausted again! i think i really need to figure out how to balance work and pregnancy and not push myself as much as i usually do.

i've been feeling some bubbly movements (17 + 3) but no real kicks yet, i can't wait until it starts (although i fear that this is a very active baby that will keep me up all night!)

elgoldenflower · 09/05/2011 09:43

Hi all

Welcome to the newbies!

Not been on for a while as I've been back at work after a long break for Easter and my goodness is it tiring! Monkeybubbles I too need to find a balance.

Apart from tiredness I'm one of the lucky ones and beginning to feel the bloom of the 2nd trimester. 15+5 now and the nausea's almost totally gone, my appetite feels pretty normal and my spotty skin is actually beginning to clear up. Really enjoying the pregnancy now. Was at a friend's wedding at the weekend and although tiring was nice to catch up with old friends and be all out about being pregnant.

Sleep's still challenging and I'm still having bad hip problems, managing them so far but bit worrying for my mobility further along. I also have quite a bump now, I've put some pics up on my profile page - anyone else fancy sharing bump pics? Feeling subtle movements most days but nothing regular or properly kick-like yet.

Not having urgency to wee yet but I am having the annoying - I quite need the loo and just a dribble comes out (sorry if TMI).

Hope everyone has a good week

BabCNesbitt · 09/05/2011 10:34

It's a relief to hear that other people are having the urge to piss (and your TMI, elgoldenflower ;) ) - I was starting to worry that I'd developed a UTI...

rebelwithoutababy · 09/05/2011 11:15

Yes, although I was just about to post that if you have suddenly developed frequency (going lots more than usual) and urgency (need to go when you need to go) which is different than your usual pregnancy pattern, it might be an idea to get your GP/midwife to check your urine...
Glad I am not the only one whose bump changes in size throughout the day: it is really freaking my DH out!
Have got MW appointment this evening: I am 18 weeks so I am really hoping she will check for a heartbeat!! xx

Continuum · 09/05/2011 11:52

Am 17+5 and saw midwife today but was a bit disappointed no heartbeat check. Although last night I did feel something that could possibly be movement but who knows! I remember last time when I realised the weird feelings were movement I vowed to remember them but when it comes to it it's still, I dunno!

After constant daytime nausea, a chest infection, a d&v bug, flu and sinusitis I realised as I was out today that I finally feel GREAT!! Hope everyone else who's feeling crappy gets to this stage soon!

Glowbuggy · 09/05/2011 14:29

Hi Everyone,
Just looking for a little reassurance. I'm 19 weeks and I'm getting quite sharp stitch like pains in my lower tummy. They could be hip pains, but it's too early for that isn't it? My bump has really started to expand in the past 2 weeks so I though it could be my tummy stretching. I work in an office and if I'm getting up out of my chair the pains are quite sharp and knock me for 6. Is anyone else getting these?
Thanks so much.

mpops · 09/05/2011 17:16

Welcome to the newbies. Lovely to see you here. It's nice to see how everyone is doing. For those of you who didn't get to hear a heartbeat at your MW appt, I wonder if you could just ask your MW to do it? I'm seeing my MW on Friday and will demand that we give it a go. I can't wait any longer, especially since my next scan is not until the end of the month.

elgoldenflower, lovely to see your photos. I'll try and post mine as well when I get time. I've had a proper bump for the last two weeks (I'll be 19 on Wednesday) and some friends who saw me last weekend were stunned! I'm actually finding it quite hard to move around and I lose my balance... What am I gonna be like in a few months?!

Glowbuggy, I've had some sharp pains too but they are very very occassional. How often do you get them? Worth mentioning to your MW or doctor, just in case.

PenguinArmy · 09/05/2011 17:21

glowbuggy it is quite common but if it persists for a sustained period of time, then mention it.

I'm sure if I wasn't blocked up, DD slept for more than 90 mins at a time last night and I wasn't doing some 13 hour days at work I would feel better. Roll on next week :) I actually get the whole weekend at home.

mpops you'll adjust

welcome to any other newbies, I'm not ignoring you, I just can't keep track.

CheshireDing · 09/05/2011 17:56

Hi Newmom I am due with my first baby on 12th October too!

Congratulations and welcome newbies. It seems madness that people have got this far and then not heard the heartbeat, I don't get it but I have also realised I know bugger all about babies too, eck (def know more about puppies).

Am going to see if I can see other peoples pics, assess their size of their bumps and then maybe/maybe not post mine - size dependent.

Off for a wee now :)

seasaltbaby · 09/05/2011 20:10

Hi everyone!
I've also not posted on here for ages....good to catch up on everyones news and comparing the size of our bumps! sorry to those having a tough time :(

I've also just gone back to work today after a mega long break and god it was hard! I have been feeling really well over the last couple of weeks but think its down to the extra sleep and rest. Now I'm back to work, with long days and a commute and worried how I'm going to survive until my next holiday!
Anyway, I'm now 15+3 and definitely starting to show, although still not obviously pregnant to those who dont know me. I'm still holding out in my normal clothes but it can only be for a couple more weeks I'm sure.
Since we've had our scan DH has been going mad on ebay and we've already managed to get a load of stuff for really good price! And we got our pram/car seat thingy on a deal in mamas&papas so its all starting to feel v real! It does seem v early to be buying things but we're not superstisious and I think it helps DH feel more involved.
Got a group physio class in the morning so think I'm gonna be lectured at about those pelvic floor exercises, fun!
Gonna check out your bump pics too!

Leo4 · 10/05/2011 09:05

Hi everyone I am due 4th of october...although not great scan results .....I had 19 week scan only to find baby has twisted feet...which is a soft marker for edwards...considering amnio now.....x

lovemybabyboy · 10/05/2011 12:11

Leo4 sorry to hear about scan, hope everything turns out ok for you. x

Well, my angel sounds doppler finally arrived in the post on saturday so have been listening to babys heartbeat and am so happy and feel so relieved. I would def advise anyone to get one, its very reassuring. :)
Even though everything was fine at 12 week scan i was still so worried and since listening to heartbeat i have started to think 'Oh my God! I might actually be really having this baby!' I think after a bad experience last time I am not letting myself believe that im really going to have this baby just in case anything goes wrong! :(

Im off work this week and wish i had a pause button!!! Grin

Welcome to all the newbies! :)

rebelwithoutababy · 10/05/2011 12:12

Hi all,
I didn't get to hear heartbeat at MW appointment last night, which was disappointing (I am 18+1): scan not until beginning June now, so will doubtless become more and more anxious until then. Mpops agree should just ask, but I felt a bit rushed by this MW and suddenly got nervous about asking (which is weird as I am medical myself so wouldn't expect to be intimidated!)...see what you can do!
Have also got definate bump, but is currently quite neat and nice, which is more than I can say for my arse which is spreading very un-neatly by the day!
Hi leo, sorry to hear about your scan results....there are really good posts on this sort of thing elsewhere on MN if you want any more support, but until then, I am sure we are all thinking of you and crossing our fingers it will all be ok
xx

LittlePebble · 10/05/2011 13:49

Hi all,

Welcome to all the newbies - October is definitely going to be a bumper baby month!
leo sorry to hear your scan wasn't what you'd hoped - if you have the amnio at least you'll have an answer one way or another - will keep fingers crossed all is alright for you.

I'm 18+2 and felt the baby move last night and again today (I think!?) first pg so unsure but definitely don't think it can be confused with wind/ indigestion.

Counting days until my scan on 25th. Am starting to feel much better except this weekend when I think I combined overdoing it with growth spurt so have been nauseous and dizzy yesterday and today.

Leo4 · 10/05/2011 16:11

Thanks everyone for your concern I had a private scan with a specialist today.....and he was of the impression the talipes was completley isolated and the risk of t18 should perhaps not have been mentioned in my case and he wouldn't risk invasive testing.....on my notes it says every part of my baby is fine apart from slight talipes maybe even positional. Obviously there is still a very low risk...but the consultant says a t18 baby usually has more than one marker and one more severe than talipes....I feel so relieved!! He said I can enjoy my pregnancy.....bring it on xxx

mpops · 10/05/2011 16:27

Aw, that's really good news Leo! Glad you had some reassurance. It must have been a difficult time while you were thinking what to do next. Smile

I've uploaded a couple of photos on my profile, prompted by elgoldenflower the other day. It's weird seeing my bump sticking out like that. Makes it all real!
