Awww new babies to add to the ESH flock - massive congratulations Stiffy and a big well done for persevering with the HB...is a very special thing, no.

Congratulations to you too Score - hope all is OK and looking forward to hearing all about it Smile

owlbooty · 23/05/2011 10:13

Byng you utter DHB you. That is an Epic Tale and I am v.v.glad you got your homebirth even though MiniByng made you wait til the very last moment :)

Sprocket I hope you are indeed laying or have laid, madam! My arms are getting tired from the pompom waving.

GG terrifyingly, our little cluster-lay group are pretty much all number 5. Gah. Gaaaaahhhhhh. I have at least bought a chest of drawers/changing table now. And a play gym. And a stash of cellular blankets. The house is rapidly filling up with baby shite and it is very unnerving. I'm just worried that by the time I go on mat leave (when I was originally planning on getting all this stuff) I will be immobilized like a beached whale and unable to do anything constructive.

LadyGoneGaga · 23/05/2011 10:40

I have same concerns, Owlie but can't do much til we've moved and have no date for that yet (and no fingernails left either....). But I did buy the rudiments of a hospital bag at weekend - nappies, cotton wool, breast pads, Lansinoh, maternity pads. And got some napisan to whiten MiniG's cloth nappies.

Starts rocking and muttering to self in a corner.

laurielou · 23/05/2011 11:04

Alps if you could give my cervix a bit of a hardened stare, just to scare it into doing something, that would be great. Thanking you muchly.

Still nothing going on. Had a bit of stomach cramp on Sat night - nothing to do with scoffing uber rich (& v tasty) macaroni cheese. Then had another cramp last night. Mr Loz has started counting these uh, "contractions" so I'm currently at 1 every 24 hours Grin

Bug is obviously far too lazy & comfy. I've bought some raspberry leaf tea, but Mr Loz says I'm not allowed to start it until due date - next Mon. He's having a laff, right?

MadameBoo · 23/05/2011 11:15

Loz I drank Raspberry leaf tea every day from about 35 weeks - it strengthens the womb and doesn't induce labour, so drink away!

Muser · 23/05/2011 11:15

You can start raspberry leaf tea before due date. I think it's not meant to bring labour on though, but make it quicker or something.

LadyGoneGaga · 23/05/2011 11:43

I also drank RLT from 32 weeks, Loz - it is a uterine tonic. So when labour comes makes contractions more effective. It will not bring on labour in itself.

Must order some actually.

Is Bug engaged?

Medee · 23/05/2011 11:50

I think I started on it at 37 weeks.

Cosmosis · 23/05/2011 13:10

gives lozza's cervix a Very Hard Stare Indeed.

hope all is well in rocketland and she is cuddling baybee as we speak.

Orchid12 · 23/05/2011 13:33

C'mon lozza

rocketman hope you're doing ok?

I'm avoiding the the fact that I am rapidly progressing up the list. In fact, lozza can you hang on a while longer...

laurielou · 23/05/2011 13:43

Thanks ladies. I know that raspberry leaf tea doesn't mean a baybee 20 mins after drinking it. Sadly Mr Loz can't quite grasp that. But I'm going to start on it right now. Thanks for the cervix hard stares too.

Have MW this afternoon, so I'll find out more about position then. Last appointment (2 weeks ago) head was very low down, so I'm hoping to have moved a bit more. Sometimes I feel my stomach aching very low down & think Bug is heading south, then I feel wriggling high up. I think he/she is teasing me.

I can't concentrate on anything waiting for Rocket news.

macaroonmum · 23/05/2011 13:53

Loz good luck with the MW this afternoon. All our attention is going to be on you as soon as all this excitement is over, you do realise that don't you? ;)
I didn't get to drink my RLT but I would have started from 37 weeks.

Ivegotmrbitey · 23/05/2011 13:56

Hello all!

StyffDrinkaffterallthat that is an amazing story and as rocket says, eplains the DHB comments! Congratulations and Edith is a lovely name!

How is our rocket getting on then? Hopefully busy falling head over heel with babyrocketleaf Smile

MW appointment went really well this morning except the bit I thought was an arse is in fact a head! I am already a BAD MOTHER (tm). Biteybach is lying across my womble so head on the high left and kicks to the bottom right. The midiwfe said there is plenty of time for him to turn around as he is still wriggling all over the place. On cue, he buggered off leaving her unable to relocate his heart beat for a scary few minutes. I should be seeing the consultant in the next week and scanned ASAP and can then relax again. The midwife said I was one of her cheeriest mother-to-bes this morning, I didn't like to tell her it is badly masked hysteria!

owlbooty · 23/05/2011 14:40

Now I'm confused. You thought it was an arse before and then before that you through it was an elbow and now it is a head?

Wtf?

I think they basically roll all over the shop until 32+ weeks and even move after that. I am absolutely sure Owlet has his feet up under my ribs as he has managed to kick one spot sore - he does shift about but mainly he stays put. I hope it is the right way up or I shall have to start standing on my head etc.

MadameBoo · 23/05/2011 14:41

I am at work. I can't concentrate on anything. I keep picking up my damn phone to see if MrRocket has texted me.

Ivegotmrbitey · 23/05/2011 14:56

I know owlie! It does make more sense that it's a head as the jabs near by must be a fist. The MW was certain though and went straight to his heart beat before he buggered off. I think it got so hard to picture because he is on the oblique, which never occured to me. I also don't understand how he is on the move so much yet with his head permanently wedged where my stomach used to be! It's getting quite sore with me too, I would really like him to move over properly! I wish I had a window so I could see properly.

boo stop attempting to work and poke your phone to make sure it is working!

owlbooty · 23/05/2011 15:05
LadyGoneGaga · 23/05/2011 15:28

Plan is for me to stop at 37 weeks. The thought alone fills me with dread though so may need to rethink. Last time was planned to leave at 36 weeks but my Dad died at 32 weeks so I went on compassionate leave - only went back for one day to sort out a few loose ends. 6 weeks feels like a very long time away Sad.

Am fretting about Rocket though - do you think she might have had to go to hossie for the induction?

Ivegotmrbitey · 23/05/2011 15:34

I am planning to go at 38 weeks as well owlie but I think this may have been optimistic! If I could work at home then I would do it but part of new horrible job means driving around the next county and doing interviews in people's homes that can take up to three hours. I may well have lost all ability to not to pee every twenty minutes by then!

Re: the positioning, ask your MW to have a feel- it was quite amazing! The spinning babies excercises did make him budge up but he seems to have chosen that as a default position and returns to it everyday.

Hello loz, what's the view like from the top of the list? Grin

owlbooty · 23/05/2011 15:50

Fuck it, I am going at 36 and they can like it or sod off. Bites you are having a laugh if you think you'll be able to drive round the county doing interviews without stopping to pee in the hedgerows. Or indeed get the safety belt around your middle. GG 37 does sound optimistic esp. with MiniG to look after, you're going to be proper knackered!

I reckon Rocketsocks would have posted a note if she'd ended up going to the hossie - fingers crossed she's still at home :)

LadyGoneGaga · 23/05/2011 16:18

I might see when my house move date is and how it pans out, may bring forward a week. I just know that I will be gutted having to go back to work on other end just as summer is getting nice when I can actually enjoy it! Mind you...am planning on only going back three days anyway so perhaps shouldn't be so precious.

Need to decide though as need to give nursery a months notice!

macaroonmum · 23/05/2011 17:44

sorry bingymum I didn't mean to ignore you, just got a bit carried away with all the excitement. Massive congrats for a mammoth labour! She's gorgeous!

owlie I'm leaving at 34 weeks, even though it means having only 3 months after the birth at full pay. I gave birth at 36+ something with thechild so don't want to risk having one week of mat leave and it's only going to get hotter here and the thought of commuting in 38° heat to teach 12 teenagers 'wif attituuuude' really just doesn't appeal.

Bitey I've had a look at the babyspinners website and am vey, vey confused. I have a feeling the boy is facing inside/downwards with his bum sticking up on the right of my bump because i get a really hard lump there and loads of movement 'inside' particularly right above my bladder. That means it'll be his head, right? BTW I 'heart' the idea of the washing machine window in the belly Grin
has anyone else been getting that really quite ouchy twanging of the bladder or nerve just above it? ...oooowwwww! it's leg-crossing stuff i tells ya.

Muser · 23/05/2011 17:45

I would just like to point out that I was going to go on maternity leave at 38 weeks, then decided to do 37 instead. Baybee arrived at 38+2. Had I stuck with my original plan I would have had one day of maternity leave before laying. Not everyone goes overdue...

CluckyKate · 23/05/2011 18:07

At the opposite end of the scale, I went off at 35 weeks and went 16 days over so had 7 weeks off before the boy arrived. Was good though, esp. with a toddler, and wouldn't have wanted to work a day longer Grin

MadameBoo · 23/05/2011 18:44

If I don't get some communication soon I am going to have to go to the shop to buy some green fags.
