OK, well we've needed a new thread for ages so I've taken it upon myself to start it.

Good luck ladies - we are nearly down to the last month

35 + 2 or should I say "T minus 4wks 5 days"!

OK, have stopped as I can't move any more (perhaps I could lie on the floor & paint the skirting board!! ).
Jay, between the 2 of us we should be doing up a house or something at the moment.

1st ante-natal tonight. Goes on til 10.00pm!!! I'll be the one yawning in the corner!

So DQ, you are going to be first with a Nov baby instead of a Dec baby then??? How lovely of your DH to book it for you. I'm thinking of booking a pedicure now my days of reaching my toes are coming to an end.

Ninah, it might be worth you linking some conditions onto this house buying & staying together, eg, him agreeing to go to relate or a counsellor, his attitiude towards your DS. I do hope it works out for you. At least you know that you have the strength to walk away now if need be.

Oh, nearly forgot, TP Tuesday!! I've measured & I'm now a definite 9 squares (baby helping by pushing it's legs out either side of my belly button ).

flutterbee · 01/11/2005 19:08

My God ladies a new thread today and already over 50 messages

Could it be that everyone is panicking now that we can officially tell people that we are due next month

Well good news about my poo problem (I know that you have all been dying to hear about it) The tummy cramps have eased off today and there has been no blood at all

George I wouldn't worry too much about the pelvic pain your having I have been told it's very normal when the baby drops down and begins to engage so maybe that's whats happened or maybe I'm totally wrong and you should have it checked out

I need to buy the essential items needed for hospital bags but still not too sure what I need everything I read seems different. I'm going to make one list for me and one for baby (then get DH to do his own) how would you ladies like to help out and list what you will be taking then I might feel a bit better about it.

Jaysfirst · 01/11/2005 22:02

Morning Ladies,

Well what an interesting time I have had this morning, I have been awake during most of the night with the worst I have ever felt SPD pain then got up this morning at about 7.30 sat on the edge of the bed then stood up and noticed a big wet patch where I had been sitting then loads of water or wee ran down the insides of my legs went to the loo then put some knickers on wandered around for 5 mins and my knickers are wet

Anyway rang the midwifes and she said I need to get to hospital to have it checked as my waters may have gone, I don't think that this is the case and think that I have just gone incontinent well I'm damn well hoping I am as I am not ready for this bundle to come along yet. I never thought I would see yhe day when I was praying for incontinence blush]

Just waiting for DH to come back from work then we shall be off. Hopefully I shall be back on in a few hours telling you all about it.

Nemo1977 · 02/11/2005 09:03

morning FB
did the mw tell you to wear a pad so it can catch the water. This happened to me with adam and turned out i had an infection rather than waters having gone however it is still possible.
thinking of you.

sweetheart · 02/11/2005 09:20

Oh bloody hell flutter - that puts my crap morning into perspective - I was just about to come on here to moan!

I hope everything is OK, good luck at the hospital and let us know how it goes ASAP!

Have had a bloody nightmare so far today - I'm having trouble with dd and her eating AGAIN and it's really getting to me. Came to work in tears again after having another argument with her - she's only 5 but she manages to make me sooo cross sometimes that I can't even bear to speak to her

Sorry to moan - I'll cheer up later, I promise!

OP posts:
scully · 02/11/2005 09:36

Is she a fussy eater sh?
Hope it's nothing major fb, good luck.
I've managed to get our of the nursery run for the last week so am enjoying having an hour of peace on the train in the morning and evening, with some music on and something to read, sad isn't it
And although we would prefer he was working, it is nice that dh is plodding through the diy, & getting some study done, and cooking most nights. Even rings me on the train to see what I feel like.....
We have decided on our Xmas and b'day presents to each other - we're going to see Sheryl Crow on Friday night, for his present, and We Will Rock You on 19th for my present. Wanted to try and squeeze in a couple more things before the baby arrives, as these type of outings will be out of the window for a while with 2 children......

MINNIE1 · 02/11/2005 09:57

FB
OMG what a morning! Hope its all ok and bubs stays in a little longer.. will be waiting to see the outcome..

SH,
Hope you day gets better!

Jays,
Love the clip of bubs its a lovely thing to have.

Went for my first ante-natel last night, the midwife was good and talk alot of what i have been reading.. But she has tough my DP a few things! I was delighted with that.. He even asked how many kicks i had gotten throughout the day!!! Bless him.

ninah · 02/11/2005 09:58

goodness fb hope all is OK! let us know when you can?
sh does dd take AGES over breakfast and pick? I know JUST how infuriating this can be, ds is a reasonable eater but is SO slow and can really wind me up, he sometimes does this coughing gagging thing just for extra drama. Don't blame yourself for getting cross, it is MADDENING! the more they see you getting mad the worse they get too... grrrrrrrrrrr. Can dh do the breakfast shift ever?
Good idea about the conditions, george. However the advice I had so far about buying a house locally is that p could be asked to contribute, so buying together doesn't necessarily mean staying together iyswim. Jury's still out. What is does mean for sure is a roof over my head, near my friends and job. Hurray!
More good news, had a scan last night and unofficially and tentatively they hint it's a GIRL!

sweetheart · 02/11/2005 10:06

scully / ninah. She is a bit of a fussy eater but just recently she has been refussing to eat at all. She eats tiny portions (when she does eat) and I'm just not convinced she's eating enough - although I know she's not old enough to let herself starve!

I've tried everything - star charts, cooking exactly what she asks for, changing her meal times, reducing her portion sizes, punishing her for not finishing meals - and still she refuses to eat. I had to make her 3 different things this morning - all of which went in the bin and all of which I DID NOT have time to make!

Dh starts work at 4am so he's never about for breakfast, although he does do her dinner before I get in from work so we share the burden!

It's just SO BLOODY FRUSTRATING!!!! And the worst part is that because I'm so short of time in the mornings we have parted company on an argument (which I hate) so I'll dwell on it all day. She went into school in tears because I had shouted and told her no TV tonight and if she doesn't eat her lunch it's early to bed too. And I arrived at work in tears so stressed and upset from our row!

Sorry - rant over!!!!

OP posts:
george32 · 02/11/2005 10:21

Oh, Flutter, I hope everything is OK for you and your little one.

1st NCT class last night and I really enjoyed it, and so did DP . Really nice group of people and everyone seems in as much of a state of denial about things as me!

A little girl Ninah, how lovely for you. What was the extra scan for or did you just sneak in another one? DP wants to go for another but I'm not sure what they will see now. Worth it do you think?

Sorry about your stress with your DD eating SH. The last thing you need in the morning. I hope you get some good ideas about what to do.

Well, I'm knackered as not much sleep last night (too much running through my head after the NCT class!!), so I think I'm going back to bed for a snooze. I'm planning on doing nothing today and I can't wait!

scully · 02/11/2005 10:39

George, I'm envious, back to bed for a snooze! I'm not exactly rushed off my feet here this morning but it's not the same as being in pj's at home!
SH, one of my favourite lines to dd is that I don't run a restaurant! I give her a choice in the morning of which cereal she wants, & if she doesn't finish it, she is warned that once it goes in the bin there is no substitute and I don't want to hear that she's hungry. Sounds harsh, but otherwise she would push her luck regularly. DD tries it more with dinner than breakfast (maybe that's why she wakes up hungry ) Maybe your dd needs to be hungry for after a few meals to realise that you mean what you say, they do catch on quick though
Awful getting to work in tears though, has caught out my lot here by surprise as they don't expect that from me, but sometimes you just can't help it.
Anyone having their 2nd or more child, have you done an NCT refresher class? I'm probably way to late to even consider it, but thought it might be a way of meeting some local people?

sweetheart · 02/11/2005 10:51

scully - with dinner (and lunch at weekends) the rule is - if she doesn't eat it it's tough, no pudding, no substitutes, no snacks NOTHING!!!! Trouble is, I hate sending her to school on an empty stomach as I'm always hearing kids with a good breakfast learn better!

The other thing is she wouldn't moan if she was made to go without food - infact I think she'd be chuffed!

I bet all of you expecting your 1st baby are looking forward to all these problems in future eh! Don't worry about changing nappies or feeding, winding etc etc etc. It's the older years that are the worry! sigh

OP posts:
scully · 02/11/2005 11:34

sounds like she's a stubborn little miss sh! she's also probably figured out that she can get away with it on school mornings - does she choose her own cereal at the supermarket? even if it isn't your choice, might be better than eating nothing at all?
Yes, life does get more interesting when they want to debate everything, or ever sentence starts with 'yes but'.....but I suppose when they are teenagers they won't want to talk to us at all
Have 2 interviews today, for maternity replacements for my position. Hope one of them is ok, can't face having to interview loads of people....

sweetheart · 02/11/2005 11:44

scully - got it in one. Unfortunalty both mine and dh's worst quality is our stubborness (you can imagine what fun arguments are in our house!) dd has double stubborness and even manages to out-stubborn me!

She normally has toast in the morning with a variety of spreads - she won't eat cereal. We have also tried introducing other things such as fruit, yoghurt etc etc etc

Good luck with the interviews - my replacement has been fab, I'm so glad shes up to speed and I don't have to worry about her lack of experience or anything. I shall be sailing out of here with ease come next Friday

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 02/11/2005 11:51

SH what about a cereal bar or a tracker etc..something she can eat on way to school or at break time?

sweetheart · 02/11/2005 11:57

dh and I have discussed this morning trying to find a alternative breakfast for her. TBH, I'm inclined to agree with Scullys comment that I'm not a restaurant. I know it's not what shes given thats the problem - it's just her never being hungry!

OP posts:
ninah · 02/11/2005 12:33

actually I remember now I used to HATE breakfast before going to school and the only thing I would eat was miniscule bits of dry Alpen. I couldn't understand why my mother got so frustrated! I was a really swot, too.
I'd try not to care so much, harsh as it sounds.

sweetheart · 02/11/2005 12:41

thanks ninah. I remember going into assembly once and they split everyone into groups of "what did you eat for breakfast today" I was the only one left in the middle of the hall coz I'd had a cuppa with biccies! Suppose I shouldn't get so wound up.

Sorry I've hyjacked the thread this morning! How is everyone else doing?

OP posts:
scully · 02/11/2005 13:04

my dd sometimes has those mini weetbix to eat in the back of the car (without milk, they are tasty though ) on the way to nursery if we're running late. feel like a bad mother doing it that way but at least she's eating something!
interview went well, hopefully will see a few other people this week and next and will decide form there. Want a 2wk handover so it's not too stressful or rushed for anyone!
On a completely different note, have had stomach cramps all morning, think it's just the iron tablets causing havoc again, could well do without it though....

kangel · 02/11/2005 13:19

OMG I have managed to miss a whole Dec thread!!

FB - Good Luck and let us know what happens.

SH - My SDD was like that at one stage, she decided in her mind that we were running a resturant that only served sweets, chocolate and ice cream but that stems from the fact that her Mum only lets her have sweets on a weekend - they are banned at her house at ny other time so when she comes to ours the next week she feels she has to eat as many as possible and binges! We soon put a stop to that and if she finishes her dinner then she can have something else. Her favourite saying is 'my tummy is hungry for that'!!! Very cheeky but she now knows where she stands.

Its going to be really hard to get on here now, thats why I haven't been on for so long. I am SO busy at work and only have 23 working days to get it all done in, as well as train someone.
I nearly left on Monday - I've had a nightmare with work, they told me I could carry my holidays over to add on the end of my maternity leave but when I asked for it in writing they changed their minds!! So I told them I was booking all my holidays and leaving and they got the hump! Am still trying to sort it out now but have been so stressed out over it.
We also have a meeting on Friday to tell us all that the office is closing down so we are all going to be made redundant so thats me and DP! Its all go!! I'm not in on Friday though as me and DP are going to my parents in Devon to 'relax' and coz its his birthday.

I got stung on my bump last Thursday night twice on my bump by a very angry MASSIVE wasp which had managed to sneak itself onto a towel that I wrapped around me. I went sraight into panic moad and so did DP but managed to calm down after speaking to my Mum (I thought it was going to harm the baby) I'm still in shock over the size of it!! I think the last time I was stung was when I was about 8!!

Oh and SDD STILL has lice!! Even though SDD's mum says she hasn't we keep pulling live ones out of her hair. SDD's Mum hasn't been treating her with Tea Tree or combing her hair.

Hope everyone else is ok.

sweetheart · 02/11/2005 13:25

Oh blimey kangel - sounds like your having a nightmare. Don't you hate it when work causes so many problems - we are having similar issues with dh's work. He had saved holiday to use as paternity leave and his work said OK - now they have changed their minds which made me really

Hang in there lady - only a few more weeks to go and then you can kick back and relax.

OUCH about the wasp btw!

OP posts:
kangel · 02/11/2005 13:42

I could really go for my boss at the moment! He was meant to come in today to sort this out and he hasn't turned up and it doesn't look like he will now - just shows how important his staff are to him!

I know that he is going to string this out and then tell me i've lost all my holidays and we are taling about 4 weeks here.

I am so angry with him and his attitude! I told him he had to tell me by the end of Monday the decision as he was now using my holidays his response to that was 'lifes a bitch' I don't trust this company as far as I can throw them.

sweetheart · 02/11/2005 14:17

kangel - that is so out of order. Can you phone him and say unless you hear from him by the end of today you will not be in work tomorrow as you will be taking your holiday?

He must be breaking the law in some way!

OP posts:
ninah · 02/11/2005 14:23

what IS it with work and pregnancy? do you suddenly become invisible or something? our HoD just scheduled a handover meeting about my job without inviting me! he did apologise ...
