Oh dear Carrie. Grin Poor you! It looks like you're in for an uphill battle.
Great names Leilandri. Both Evan & Leo are on our list too. :)

littlemisslozza · 12/04/2011 21:09

Hee hee Carrie! My DH used to say he wanted to call DS1 'Spartacus' but he was only joking thankfully!

Leilandri love the names, particularly Evan, can you not just wait and see which one suits him best when he is born? You're doing pretty well to have narrowed it down to two names to choose between in my opinion, we're useless at deciding until we've actually met the baby, we just have a shortlist of about 5/6 names then decide within a few hours of baby arriving!

Having said that, if DC3 is a girl then she is likely to be 'Harriet' (as DS2 would have been if he had been a DD) but if we have a third DS we are going to struggle! I am really trying to come up with a boys name I love, and that DH likes too. I love the name George but I already know 3 born this year and it's just getting too popular, also like Dominic but it doesn't go with our surname. Must get thinking!

Hersetta · 13/04/2011 08:46

We'll probably go with something traditional for a boy. If this DC had been a girl she would have been Phoebe although for some reason DH had a hankering for Arizona. He first mentioned it as a joke but I think the more he said it the more he liked it so he seem to graduate to his 'proper' list.

Probably a good thing it's a boy...he seems to be much more sensible with boy's names.

We already have a Leo. Our 15 yr old Chinchilla is Leo.

KLou111 · 13/04/2011 10:30

Prefer Evan Rhys Leilandri TBH. Not too keen on Leo, but I knew a Leo who was a complete twat so you always associate with that don't you!!

Well, I am so excited, we went to see the Springer puppies again yesterday and bought one. She is the most beauuuuuuuutiful little thing and can't wait to bring her home. We can have her from Good Friday, but have some friends coming that Sunday for a few days, and they have a 6 year old boy who is a complete pain in the arse who will probably break her leg or something, so unless they don't come, we won't get her until the Tuesday.
Can't wait!! I suggested the name Bella or Ciara and when we went to look yesterday, the daughter had named them all so they could ID them. It was between 2 puppies (out of 8) and the other one she'd called Bella!! How coincidental is that!! :)

Teladi · 13/04/2011 11:12

Hello everyone, sorry I've been so quiet recently... haven't had much to report and can't relate yet to a lot of what you all are experiencing in terms of symptoms, baby movement etc. Trying to enjoy the quiet while it lasts! I have my 20 week scan next week.

Leilandri I like both your name choices! I think I prefer Evan Rhys but both are nice.

Littlemisslozza I am really keen on Harriet as well, it is top of my list if this DC is a girl. Not sure it's top of my DH's list though. Struggling with boy names!

KTisPG · 13/04/2011 12:16

Teladi I'm really struggling with boys names. I like traditional names, but don't want one that is so popular there are more than 1 in the class IYSWIM. I'm sorted for girls though so at least that's something - Monica Rose.

Leo is a family name but as we already have 2 uncles and 2 cousins called Leo I'm not that keen, but that's just for me. I like the name.

nickstermum · 13/04/2011 13:01

Leilandri, we chose Leo as a middle name for DS due to our star signs too... and now i am trying to continue the lion theme (and failing!) as this one will be a leo too.

Loving the name choices - need boy inspiration though as am stuck on NOTHING!

MrsStevo · 13/04/2011 14:32

Hi all,

Thanks very much again for all your messages of support during what is now officially labelled the 'worst week of my life'.

However - we have had some good news at our scan today!! Both babies are alive, looking healthy and the little one's measurements have picked up. Very clever little babies have beaten the 40% chance of surviving the surgery!!! The consultant still wants to keep a close eye on them though so I'll be scanned every week until 24 weeks and then every 2 weeks after that until they arrive. Still at risk of early labour though so FINGERS CROSSED they'll stay in there until at least 34 weeks so they stand as good a chance as possible.

Feel like an enormous weight has been lifted from my shoulders today - such an emotional experience all in all. Bet I will sleep for a week now - sleep hasn't been something I've had much off since the scan last week!

And, I THINK I have been feeling the babies moving since just this morning! If it is them - then it is an awesome feeling, but very weird!! Can't wait until DH can feel them too - he deserves to feel a bit more included on the exciting stuff after all the hideousness of the last week.

OH! And I'm no longer on team yellow! But I'm not saying whether we've moved to pink or blue as we're keeping that a secret Wink

Anyway, hope you're all really well and enjoying your blooming-ness!

onEastarEggIGraze · 13/04/2011 14:54

That's brilliant news MrsStevo, well done you and well done those clever babies :) FWIW my friend's twins were delivered at 32 weeks due to TTTS and they are now happy, healthy 1yos. They didn't even need too much intervention in the early weeks. I hope yours stay in for as long as possible - enjoy the movement (it is weird, isn't it? Grin)

nickstermum · 13/04/2011 15:13

MrsS thats indeed incredible news xxxx

Annie456 · 13/04/2011 15:14

Ahh thats brilliant mrsstevo so happy for you all :o) and another FWIW, my twin BIL's were born at 28 weeks in 1989 and apart from being massive pains in the butt sometimes, they are perfectly healthy twenty-something year olds :o)

I had my 20 week scan this morning (I thought I would be the last one but we still have Teladi to go - anyone else?) Everything was fine, measurements all good and placenta is high - was brilliant to see the heart, kidneys, brain etc! fascinating! S/he was moving around all over the place the whole time which was lovely!

DH REALLY wants to know the sex so we got the sonographer (who was a bit grumpy!) to write it down and seal it in an envelope for us. DH is going to cook a nice meal on saturday and we're going to open a bottle of bubbly (I'm going to allow myself a small glass!) and we're going to "open the envelope"! I had wanted it to be a suprise but I think it will be nice the way we've planned it too. Then we're going to go shopping for our first bits and bobs on sunday when we know which team we're in :o)

Annie456 · 13/04/2011 15:19

Oh and the names:
KT I love Monica Rose
Also love Harriet (Hattie) and Phoebe and leilandri I also think Evan Rhys is a great combo!

We're pretty much sorted for a boys name (Thomas) but really struggling with the girls names. Top two are currently Rose or Emily but as DH isn't sure on Rose I think Emily is prob at the top. Once we know the sex we'll get the name book out again! x

expectantbean · 13/04/2011 15:24

That's fabulous news MrsS, I'm so pleased. Enjoy the movements and the extra scans!

Leilandra - I like Leo (reminds me of the handsome Leonado di Caprio!)

We've been thinking about names and have chosen for a boy but are struggling with girls' names. My FIL has lots of ideas but fortunately my DH seems to be immune to his father's suggestions! We want something traditional. We have 8 nephews/neices who seem to have a variant of all the names I've thought of so far Envy.

I hope you're all enjoying being kicked in the tummy Grin

Yukana · 13/04/2011 15:26

I'm so incredibly relieved and happy for you MrsStevo. Was very worried and mentioned to DP that I was worried about you (he does hear my daily banter about mumsnet I must confess), and I hope you get some good rest. I am horribly excited and grin whenever my DD-to-be kicks, I can't imagine what two babies kicking must feel like! Again, congratulations on the good news and and best of luck throughout. :)

Thank you for the support everyone. As with telling the landlord whether we are on DSS or not it is part-and-parcel of my personality to be honest whenever I can be. So I would always inform the landlord we are on DSS and explain if I have to briefly the reasons why.

I've been looking for a house for us to live in everyday, no luck as of yet. Any luck we do have gets shot down by the fact they don't accept DSS. Not really an option for me and DP sadly to come off DSS as I cannot work and DP can't work too much due to my mental health. It's all a bit topsy turvy!

With the situation in regards to my mother, I have talked with her parents. They will be calling her ex-psychiatrist (they discharged her I believe because they could no longer afford to help her, which is horrible) and will probably have to call the mental crisis team. The stress is too much for her and I believe me and DP staying here is highly likely to be hard on her mental health. So I'm going to talk with Shelter if I can, and see if we can be moved from Band C as well.

Phew. Well LO has been kicking lots in little bursts throughout the days so I'm pretty confident she is okay. I'll finally be able to stop worrying myself over little things at about 28 weeks so I count down the days eagerly until then!

CappuccinoCarrie · 13/04/2011 15:43

Hooray hooray MrsS!!! And despite not wanting to know which team I'm on, I'm somehow desperate to know which you are! Grin

I think this baby is so active because otherwise I'd totally forget I'm pg, I keep thinking I've got indigestion, then realise its the baby so I say a quick "hi" to it to remind them they're not forgotten!

yukana really hope you can get some resolution soon for your mum and the help she really needs. And of course a beauuuuutiful house for your family :)

Still can't agree on a boy's name with DH, I think he makes such ridiculous suggestions because he can't think of any proper ones, and even when he does, I invariably dislike them!

MrsChemist · 13/04/2011 16:07

Fantastic news MrsS! Hope everything carries on smoothy from now on.

Had scan on Monday, all is well it seems and it's a boy. I kind of expected it to be another boy. Yay! I don't have to go shopping for baby clothes :) which is one weight off my mind

alibaba76 · 13/04/2011 16:13

Great news MrsS - hope you do get a great nights sleep tonight too xx

lilyraesmommy · 13/04/2011 16:19

SelinaDoula · 13/04/2011 19:43

Yeah! MrsS Wonderful news

MrsVidic · 13/04/2011 20:16

Fab news on the poddington's mrsS!

Well I am struggling with dd1 this week her eye teeth are coming through (the last few all at once) and she is suffering! She hasn't eaten well since Sunday and is miserable and having major tantrums. I feel like she's been possessed! I keep forgetting I'm preg and picking her up/ carrying her lots which is not good for my SPd at all.

I told my dp I'm phoning in sick tomorrow,
to which he replied," you're off anyway"
And I responded," no I'm off sick from being a mum,"
I think I've confused him, lol!

Can anyone else feel the baby turn over, every now and again it feels like it flips in my stomach! Then I have to burp!

neverlookback · 13/04/2011 21:00
