HI everyone, I know it is very early but I got a very faint positve line this morning, and another at lunch, and another at tea time! Was not due AF till Thurs but was meant to be going for a proceedure that involved radiation tomorrow so needed to do checks and here I am, and there I will not be! I have already got 2 and not told OH yet but need to tell somebody! Anyone else yet?

Hello everyone,

It looks like I'm joining you all. Yesterday I got a very unexpected BFP (well 6 actually Blush ) and have backed up today with a CB digital that said Pregnant 1-2. We weren't trying at all so it was a bit of a shock. We have 2 boys (aged 3.4 and 20 months) and DH was adamant that they were plenty whereas I wanted a third. It's going to take him a while to ocme round but he will in the end.

I'm only around 4 weeks (due 12th Dec?) so early days yet but I'm feeling quite happy about it, but excitement is dampened by DH's reaction.

I'm not going to bother seeing the GP but will phone the community midwives at around 6/7 weeks to arrange a booking appointment. I'm a BF peer supporter and I have a lot of contact with the midwives anyway so if I see them I'll just mention it then.

DS1 was born on 18th Dec so looks like it'll be a busy month.

Congratulations to everyone and I look forward to getting to know you all.

Snowdropfairy · 04/04/2011 15:50

Congrats to everyone xx

I have told my Husband family and mine but no one outside family.

I'm worried that the bean might not stick Sad

Welcome everyone. Pippy, I had exactly the same with a CB digital this time, tested earlier this week and it said 3+ when I am certain I couldn't be, hadn't given it much though but was entertained (and slightly terrified) to read everyone guessing twins. Haha, my DH would pass out and then me on top of him!
I think am starting to get symptoms, have been nibbling all day and have felt quite faint this morning.... Hope not, can't face it, but yes, will then worry if symptom free! No keeping us happy Smile

Xiaoxiong · 04/04/2011 16:18

Hello everyone - can I join? First time pregnancy, first time mumsnetter... I have to tell someone, I'm terrible at keeping secrets and unless I unburden myself to the internet I know I will blurt it out and then it will be so disappointing if it doesn't work out. This will be the first grandchild on both sides, there has been some recent hopeful fishing by both sets of parents as our first wedding anniversary is this weekend! Also my whole family is scattered around the world and my in-laws are over 5 hours away, so we are keeping it to ourselves until we can tell them in person.

Was quite a shock to get pregnant so soon - just went off the pill a month ago, had one proper period and then the second never came. Due date 1st Dec by the calculator - have a GP appointment on Thursday morning to confirm. No symptoms as such except hot/cold flashes and a churning stomach but I'm putting that down to the very spicy Singapore noodles I had for lunch...

Congrats and thanks everyone for describing everything, all your posts have already given great comfort and reassurance to this complete neophyte over here!!

FleeBee · 04/04/2011 16:34

Hi only just found this...

I'm PG with my 3rd DC and due 4th December.

I have two DDs aged 3.4 and almost 2. So will have 3 under 4 for a short while.

So far v. sore boobs and feeling very tired but then have 2 toddlers!

Hope to keep in touch with all you guys. I'm in the Lancashire if anyone else around here?

Iggly · 04/04/2011 16:38

Great lots of new people!

snowdrop I think it's normal to worry about a sticky bean, I know I am.
toomuch, that's a shame about your DH although if he didn't want a third he could have controlled himself Wink Grin

I've already had a 20 mob lie down in the first aid room. Also have a funny taste in my mouth and feel sick all the time :( given I'm only 5ish weeks, how will I last til the next trimester?!
I've not bothered with the soca yet but might go direct to the midwives like toomuch although they'll probably say I'll need a GP referral Hmm

sweetginger · 04/04/2011 17:34

My drs apt was so brief last time I hardly sat down before being swept out the door. I will just arrange a booking in apt with the midwife. Is anyone else giving slightly false dates so they have a few extra days at the end to avoid sweeps etc?

kat2504 · 04/04/2011 17:39

Is there much point in giving false dates? Won't they just change the date when you go for your dating scan? Hadn't thought of doing that.
I haven't bothered with the gp yet either. I mean, I know what not to eat, and to take folic acid, and apart from tell me that, they won't actually do anything so I'll wait for MW at 8 weeks or so.

Xiaoxiong · 04/04/2011 17:39

Is that a good idea sweetginger? What are sweeps and why are they to be avoided?

LondonGirly · 04/04/2011 17:47

Hello everyone, welcome to all the newbies :)

Morning sickness has got a bit worse over the weekend.

Has anyone else started to experience boobs getting bigger yet? I have already gone up a cup size!

In terms of my doctors appointment, doctor just confirmed EDD and gave me some info on what not to eat. He also checked I was taking folic acid. My appointment isn't until I am almost 12 weeks.

sweetginger · 04/04/2011 17:51

I was just going to give myself two extra days really. Someone in RL suggested it last time. Still undecided. Sweeps are generally done when you go overdue to encourage baby to come. More detailed info here. www.mumsnet.com/pregnancy/labour-and-birth/membrane-sweep-and-induction

LadyOfTheManor · 04/04/2011 18:07

Tyel- Sweeps are when the MW or consultant insert their fingers and sweep your cervix, they do this usually when you're over due to stimulate the hormone that starts labour.

You can lie about your dates, however, the scan usually gets it right. I wouldn't lie and I wouldn't deliberately fuck up my dates to avoid a sweep. They're not that bad.

LauraSmurf · 04/04/2011 18:11

Hey all, looking for advice today. I have the worst diahorrea of my life ATM. I don,t tend to grow up, haven't since I was 9. But instead any bug or illness goes "down" if you know what I mean. Could this be morning sickness in reverse?? And what can I stake to help.

I had to get school secretary to look after class for 10 mins today ass I just couldn,t wait!

Help!!

LadyOfTheManor · 04/04/2011 18:29

Speak to your MW or GP about possible fluid loss.

sweetginger · 04/04/2011 18:31

Thanks Lady. I will be honest.

Earwiggo · 04/04/2011 18:32

I'm liking having real life midwife and BF peer supporter on the thread, that could come in handy!

On the subject of sweeps you always have the right to say no thanks, they are only offered not forced on you, I was glad to try anything by the time I want 10 days over.

LadyOfTheManor · 04/04/2011 18:38

Oh and Sweet I pretty much hated my MW all the way through-I'm not on "their" side!!

MrsWitcher · 04/04/2011 18:44

I haven't gone over with any of my 3 but I did have a sweep on my due date with my first as I had been in latent labour for 2 days. I was very keen on having it done and it got me into established labour and DS was born a few hours later. It was worth it IMO as I was shattered. I wasn't in the hospital just at home but I phoned the MW and said I had been having mild but regular contractions for more than a day. She came out, examined me and offered me the sweep.

Both my girls were early so it didn't come up.

Iggly · 04/04/2011 19:03

You don't have to have a sweep if you don't want to. I went 8 days over and wasn't induced or swept. MW did offer, I said no.

Laura, I had similar with last pregnancy. My SIL did too! I think the hormone trigger all sorts in some of us!

xstitch · 04/04/2011 19:05

If I go over again I woul accepta sweep, much better than pharmacological inuction IME. I may need aCsection though after they foun out the reasons behin me neeing an Emergency C-section last time. Confused. Going to ask about risks etc at first apt.

moonchaser · 04/04/2011 20:23

MrsW, Also glad not the only 4th timer!! What age are your other DC? Am having a panic about the logistics of 4 children! Currently need a bigger car and its all a bit of a headache will have to go out and look at them really don't want a bus style thing but going to have to I think Grin

xstitch, Your midwife or Dr may not go through birth choices following a c section with you at first appointment. I had a section with my first and when I had appointment with 2nd and 3rd was referred to consultant for appointment who went through all the risks and choices available but was classed as high risk because or having a previous c section.

Congrats to everyone too! Forgot to mention that in first post - is it too early to claim baby brain as a excuse?!

MrsWitcher · 04/04/2011 20:38

Hi Moonchaser, I have a DS (7) and DD1 (5) and DD2 (3). I thought we were done! Still, at least DD2 will be at preschool til 12pm from September.

What about you? We have a Discovery which has 7seats so at least we don't need to change the car. DS already sits in the 3rd row as DD2's car seat is too wide and makes it too tight to get three across the back.

Oh and congratulations to everyone else too! Blush I really cannot afford to lose any more brains with this pregnancy.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 04/04/2011 21:06

wow 4th DC? brave women - I always thought I wanted 3 then had DS and decided 2 would be enough! But already feeling sad that means (in theory) this will be my final pregnancy...

Felt very nauseous all day, so any attempts to not grow into a heifer I think will be utterly undermined!

snowdrop it's hard isn't it, but all we can do it try to remain positive - post whenever you feel down or worried if it makes you feel better

I'd lie about my dates to avoid induction rather than sweeps, but they decide your dates at the scan anyway so it won't make any difference...

londongirly I've def got bigger boobs already, nice welcome after feeling like they're rubbish and saggy since breastfeeding last time

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 04/04/2011 21:07

Blush sorry, congrats all the newbies too!
