HI everyone, I know it is very early but I got a very faint positve line this morning, and another at lunch, and another at tea time! Was not due AF till Thurs but was meant to be going for a proceedure that involved radiation tomorrow so needed to do checks and here I am, and there I will not be! I have already got 2 and not told OH yet but need to tell somebody! Anyone else yet?

I have a DD who is 19 months old. How about you? I am pretty daunted by the thought of a 2.3yrs and newborn I have to say!!

I have a theory about telling early - if something went wrong I would want to talk to people about it, if it goes well then it doesn't matter that they know early. I think this time I just felt it could be a secret shared by me and DH only for a while. Although DH doesn't know yet (whoops) - he isn't aware of my constant POAS for the last week so I figured I would save a CB Digi result for him on Friday morning when he has more time before work for us to get excited about it together. Clearly I couldn't keep the news to myself which is why these boards are so great.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 28/03/2011 13:47

my DS is 2.5 - always thought I'd want 2 under 2 but he was a nightmare colcking newborn it took a long time to get over the idea of having another, then got very down a few months ago when it reached the point where he would definately be 3, am just glad he won't be much older (halloween baby!) but this time ttc just goes to show how little your planning makes a difference.

2 of my friends have just had their 2nd with 2.3yr old DD....coping very well, in fact coping isn't even the right word, it seems to be going so easily! Another friend had 2 within 14months - that's scary!!

ThePippy · 28/03/2011 14:08

Funny how much you change your mind about things once you actually have the reality of a newborn isn't it. I also thought I would like less than 2yr gap but I didn't handle baby days well at all and it the thought of going back there isn't something I am terribly looking forward to, but I know I don't want DD to be an only child and I know I will love it once we are past the very early months. I also didn't factor in just how exhausting having a child would be in terms of stopping TTC for the next - DH even thought we should try to be pregnant before I went back from maternity leave before DD was born - given I went back at 6 months I think we were both VERY unaware of how hard it is to bring up a baby.

I think your age gap will be lovely - your DS will be old enough to help out and probably past the jealous stage too.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 28/03/2011 14:26

here's hoping! thankfull I've had a pretty easy time with him since 6months, he doesn't really tantrum (yet!) and adores babies so fingers crossed this continues

The trouble is NOTHING can prepare you for those first few months, there is no book you can read or tv series you can watch that will really help you understand, you just have to experience it! I didn't cope well with those early baby days either, but at least now I KNOW that everything is a phase and the "this too will pass" mantra is true! Also hoping by having DS to run around after I won't be able to be so nuerotically focussed on the baby.

Argh, just wish I could have been one of those naturally relaxed mothers lots of my friends to newborns were, but then their babies didn't have colic. And in some ways I'm a much more relaxed mother to a toddler than they are.

I know what you mean about wantig a sibling for DD, sometimes I worry that might be my ONLY reason for DC2 but I also want to try to have a better newborn experience. I am however so looking forward to pregnancy and (ho hum) labour - had an amazing homebirth last time around so really hoping for the same this time

ThePippy · 28/03/2011 14:35

I think we are living parallel lives - DD had reflux and was on baby gaviscon for a while until we weened her early and that seemed to fix it, but I have memorys of 1oz of milk going in then screaming and refusing more - horrible and so stressful for both of us. Like you since this was resolved we have had a pretty easy time of it - very happy little girl who mostly sleeps well, eats well and is very sociable. Also loves babies so fingers crossed!!

Also with you on the birth - I had a waterbirth last time and just hoping I can again as I loved it. I have put on a few pounds (well stones if I am honest) since however and I think they might say I can't use the birth centre this time. We'lll see - have to tell DH first before booking with MW.

Not looking forward to all the blood tests again though - I was a pin cushion by the end of 9 months thanks to rubbish veins that collapse at the sight of a needle!

Iggly · 28/03/2011 14:39

Oh how weird - DS had reflux too. Didn't deal with the baby days that well so a 2.2 age gap seems much better. DS is fab now - jolly, sociable and sleeps much better (not sleeping through though!)

I too had a homebirth - but not sure if I'll do it again. Might use the local birthing centre as can't afford our independent midwife again. I'll be much more confident second time around so not worried about intervention etc.

Will add myself to the role call!

Iggly · 28/03/2011 14:42

Iggly DC2 due 2 December
Girlwiththemouseyhair DC2 Due 3rd December
ThePippy DC2 Due 8th December

Have done in date order if that's ok!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 28/03/2011 14:57

Iggly - can you not have a homebirth on the NHS where you are? Loving we're a bit of 2nd timers with 1st time homebirths thread (survivors getting ready to do it all again!)

Iggly · 28/03/2011 16:14

Yes I can but still not sure! Would have preferred my last MW at home or NHS ones in a birthing centre. Silly I know! Although with DS a homebirth might make more sense this time around.

ThePippy · 28/03/2011 16:31

iggly I'm with you on the homebirth being good with DS. With DD my waters broke and within minutes I was contracting hard every 2 mins and luckily my DH was around and we didn't have any DC to worry about - which was handy as I was 8cm with a couple of hours.

I didn't actually have a homebirth (DH was too nervous to do that) but a waterbirth in a birth centre, which was the next best thing, but I know that this time I will need to have some childcare arranged and in place well before (all family live a long way away) as they say second births are often faster than the first.

kat2504 · 28/03/2011 18:24

Hi am tentatively joining your thread after getting a bfp early on saturday and confirming it again today. It will be my first and I think the due date will end up as the 6th December. Am absolutely petrified being pregnant again, have been ttc for 8 months after miscarriage last summer. No symptoms to report yet but my head is all over the place between worry and excitement!

ThePippy · 28/03/2011 19:57

Welcome crazy and try not to worry - easier said than done I know. So many people seem to have a MC the first time before going on to a successful pregnancy. I certainly did - had missed MC discovered at 12 wks scan before having DD, and when people found out I was simply stunned to hear how many people had them too. Also someone told me that their MW said it was like the bodies practice run.

I do understand though that it makes the next pregnancy full of worry. You should try to persuade your MW to arrange an early reassurance scan if you think it would help.

Add yourself to the stats when you get a chance.

ThePippy · 28/03/2011 19:59

I meant welcome kat - I think I confused posters just now - apologies to kat and crazy!!

Iggly · 28/03/2011 20:02

Welcome kat I think I've seen you on a Post MC thread somewhere. Congratulations and I hope this one sticks for you :)

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 28/03/2011 21:52

welcome kat hope it sticks! don't worry, all here to share the worry and excitement xx

pippy - will you go for birthing centre again?

Crazybit · 28/03/2011 22:29

Hi Ladies, I've been away for a few days so I haven't been able to catch up with this thread, can't believe how fast it has gone! MY dds are 11 and 3. I've done a few more tests and even though AF was due last Thurs they are really really faint, almost not there. Any ideas? Not told anyone apart from OH and one friend yet and OH waiting for a bright line before he believes it...they've always been so strong with my other pregnancies...

Crazybit DC3 due 1 December
Iggly DC2 due 2 December
Girlwiththemouseyhair DC2 Due 3rd December
ThePippy DC2 Due 8th December

Meant to say, dd2 had reflux till she was about 10months, we where covered in vomit constantly. Also I had carpal tunnel and strep B with DD2, starting tro think I haven't really thought this through oroperly now I'm remembering everything!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 29/03/2011 07:40

10months?! Wow.....

I think if there's a line there's a line, but it might not get stronger immediately. If you can, hold off 2-3 days then test again. I tested negative with ds until 6-7 weeks. Keep us posted!

ThePippy · 29/03/2011 09:18

morning all

mousey I will definitely do birth centre again if possible - will all come down to whether they deem me to fat tbh!

crazy I read somewhere that the rise/level of hormone can be dictated by where it has implanted, so I wouldn't worry. Have you booked in with MW yet? If not maybe you could ask to see the doc sooner if you have concerns.

Crazybit · 29/03/2011 09:25

Thanks :) I think I'm not going to be sticking around though...did two tests today, a urine flow one, nothing and a dip stick shows a faint line. Have started cramping and bleeding now though so am assuming that tests are going to come back negative over the next few days. Don't really know what to do as this has never happened before, do I need to contact GP?

I need to go into college today, but just want to curl up and sleep or cry or both. :(

OP posts:
ThePippy · 29/03/2011 09:36

Oh crazy I am so sorry. It sounds like an early MC from what I have read. Quite often people don't even know they have had them as they often occur before AF is due and before you test. So unfair to have your hopes built up and then dashed like that.

Not sure if you need to go to the docs, it might be worth a call to check.

Take care of yourself xx

Crazybit · 29/03/2011 09:39

Thanks Pippy :)

I hope you all have sticky amazing trouble free pregnancies xx

Hi can I join? I got a BFP 2 hours ago. I've not gone to work and still sitting here in my pj's. Can't really believe it. I only came off the pill in Jan and have PCOS so thought it wouldn't happen. I thought we'd have to adopt.

MN due date calc says 2nd December, and conception date is spot on.

DH knows but he's at work. I'm going to see doc this afternoon.

Am I jumping the gun? All the symptoms are there but could the test be wrong?

Not sure about sore boobs or nausea (but I didn't get any nausea with DD) but I have been feeling REALLY hungry. I had a huge bowl of very healthy fresh fuit, yogurt, granola and honey this morning which normally keeps me going for ages, but I am already thinking of lunch! So much for my plan to cut down and try to loose a few pounds in early pregnancy!
