HI everyone, I know it is very early but I got a very faint positve line this morning, and another at lunch, and another at tea time! Was not due AF till Thurs but was meant to be going for a proceedure that involved radiation tomorrow so needed to do checks and here I am, and there I will not be! I have already got 2 and not told OH yet but need to tell somebody! Anyone else yet?

I'm in - just found out today and posted on about 5 different message threads already. I want to tell the world - as I'm a reasonably old bird for my first time (35) and lots of friends have had miscarriages - I'm going to keep it between me and the husband and you guys :)

iknowanoldlady · 31/03/2011 14:33

Hello ladies, may I join you too? Got a BFP last week, think I am five weeks today but have a short cycle so doctor will probably date me at about 4 and a half, think I must be due around 2/3rd December. This is my second, we have an 18 month old DS, and we were very lucky as I fell on second month of trying. Not really believing it yet as have no symptoms at all, except maybe knackered, but that could just be a work/18 month old who likes getting up at 6am thing. Not told anyone except DH, waiting to see family next weekend before breaking the news if it's all still looking positive.

Congrats to everyone - here's to a happy and healthy and sticky-beaned 8/9 more months! Oh crap, it can't be good that I miss wine already Grin

georgie87 · 31/03/2011 14:52

I wish i knew what all this lingo means! Sorry i'm probably being stupid, seem to be being a right dippy cow lately! anyone know where i can find a translation :o)

georgie87 · 31/03/2011 14:55

yay congrats jomouse I am scared to tell anyone too just in case it all goes wrong! Only my partner knows at the mo! might tell my mum tonight, but don't want her to start fussing lol congrats to you also iknowanoldlady :)

Earwiggo · 31/03/2011 15:01

There is a link for 'acronyms' at the top of the page somewhere, what were you wondering about?

georgie87 · 31/03/2011 15:09

Ah thank you Earwiggo, seen them all now :), i wasn't sure if DS meant dependant son or not!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 31/03/2011 15:16

ha, am sure the mothers of teenagers would agree with that one georgie!

hah iknow "Oh crap, it can't be good that I miss wine already" I am so with you on this - just wistfully looked at the "Dine in for Mothers Day for £15" in M&S this lunchtime and was thinking, nah, no point I can't drink the wine. Congrats on your BFP, 8 months and counting to the next Wine

Also congrats to georgie87 , happy, FRowlands and jomouse - December is going to be a busy month with lots of new little babies Smile

happytree · 31/03/2011 17:00

It's amazing how a bfp brings the next 8 month of your life into focus!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 31/03/2011 17:55

and NYE...had completely given up on a 2011 baby, yay!!

I can't really remember but I'm pretty sure I just walked into ST George's for the dating scan, no previous mc or cramps, I just had no idea how far along I was. I might have been referred by the doctor though...

Earwiggo · 31/03/2011 18:13

Speaking of bringing time into focus, I keep thinking how far along I'll be at all the key events this year, holidays birthdays etc I'm also totting up all those things I want sorted out before hand, really want the house a bit straighter otherwise it will be ages before it gets sorted!

Added myself too. Pippy, glad I am not the only one missing the wine Smile, though if this pregnancy is like my last one I will lose a taste for it once the nausea kicks in anyway. joy!

kat2504 · 31/03/2011 20:05

I am missing the wine and the six cups of coffee a day so much! I reckon by not drinking wine I may actually lose weight in the next 12 weeks. A good excuse to supplement my diet with extra treats as we know this is no time to be dieting!

LauraSmurf · 31/03/2011 20:47

Hi, all slightly less manic today! More real somehow!

I am due on the 4th ( i think ) got a docs appt tomorrow! I feel so behind everyone.

Had a hairy moment today, I teach adn i had to teach swimming for 1 1/2 today, very hot, humid and long fast walk there an back with 60 10 year olds!
I survived this fine, made sure I had plenty of squash and an apple.

But when i went out to collect my class at break time i suddenly felt really nauseous! I honestly thought i was going to throw up on the playground! Just had to breathe and relax, made it through it, only lasted 5 minutes! I am just a bit scared now, i am only 4 1/2 weeks, can't tell my colleagues yet! But i also can't just run off when i feel like it! Hmm oh well fingers crossed i guess!

Jobs for this weekend:

  • Buy a new bra!
  • Get prenacare
  • Buy a pregnancy book (any recommendations??)
iknowanoldlady · 31/03/2011 21:08

Laura, that sounds tough going - always think it's so cruel that the time that we most need to tell people, we don't want to (or can't!) I can remember a depute watching me teach when I was about 9 weeks and all I could think was 'I want to be sick' and my teaching was probably rotten! But later on she kindly said it was fine Hmm

I had 'Your pregnancy bible' for first pregnancy and will start referring to it again soon - really liked it, especially the week by week updates, we used to get all excited each Wednesday about what was happening in there. If you just look for it on Amazon or something you would find it no bother.

Hope tomorrow doesn't bring any more nausea...

LauraSmurf · 31/03/2011 22:16

Thanks! It sounds strange but in a weird way i kinda liked it!

It was the first really physical sign!

Im kinda thinking it's actually good planning really. The easter holidays and bank holidays mean that i will not be in school much between week 6 and week 9. Hopefully it will mean that i miss most of the school time morning sickness.

happytree · 31/03/2011 22:37

I'm a teacher too, part time. I was observed on Monday and I felt so so sick, luckly everyone thought it was nerves.

kat2504 · 01/04/2011 07:02

Laura it is so hard with teaching and pregnancy when you can't tell any one. I was also obseved on Monday after getting bfp on saturday. Wasn't feeling sick but my mind was definitely elsewhere! Yesterday had to get receptionist in my class while I dashed to the toilet.
Could be worse! Last time I had an ofsted inspection at six weeks!
I have heaps of books! The mumsnet one is funny and informative. And I have a lovely hardback one which has a page for each day with photographs.

LondonGirly · 01/04/2011 07:08

It must be observation time - I was observed yesterday! The tiredness is the worst for me at the moment. I ended up going to bed for a couple of hours when I got home last night, then had dinner and went straight back to bed.
MS seems to be restricting itself to me feeling sick at the moment, no toilet dashes yet.

Off to the doctors tonight, think I am going to go with Lewisham hospital at the moment.

Hope you are all having a good Friday.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 01/04/2011 07:53

I guess quite good timing for teachers though, won't your maternity leave finish just as summer holidays begin?

I'm self-employed but work on contracts, def have 7 weeks of work coming up so really hoping I can fit in another contract of 13 weeks before EDD so I qualify for maternity allowance. I was temping last time and got proper SMP, a bit scarier this time round financially. Especially as I work in industry where pregnancy is seen as a bit of a disease! I run my company with two others, one of which gave birth 16 hours before I did with DS, then had her 2nd in October. The guy we work with is terrified of me getting pregnant so really putting off telling him!

I had the rough guide to pregnancy and birth but spent so much time online in the end I didn't really use it - if anyone wants my copy you're welcome to it (pay the postage but don't worry about anything else)

I do though highly recommend Penelope Leach's "Your Baby and Child"....I threw all the other books out the window at 3 weeks as they were getting me in a total mess and upset, this was the one that made me reassured EVERYTHING DS did was normal!!
