morning,
It's worth having a row if you end up being taken out afterwards, Frizbe. I know what you mean about feeling like a single parent, I have said the exact thing to Dp on more than one occasion - generally resulting in lots more help for a while, but he always slips eventually.

Thell, don't assume you have to give up everything immediately. Small babies can be taken almost anywhere, even firework night. I took DD to the millenium celebrations in London when she was 6 months old, with no problems. I wouldn't try it now she's 6 though.

We did fireworks and bonfire at home, which was a lot more fun than I was expecting. We probably didn't need to buy any though, as most of our neighbours did the same, so we all got to enjoy each others.

3k · 07/11/2005 09:41

Morning All,

not had time to catch up with everyone yet but just a quickie until my evil boss goes out - a colleague of mine has got mumps - will this affect me?????

cuffyj1 · 07/11/2005 10:27

Morning all

Hope all had a good weekend.

Frizbe - We did the same as you for fireworks, watched them out the window, not for same reason tho, we've got a scared 8 mth old puppy.

My dh can't do anything right lately i just snap his head off so we just don't talk most of the time.

Finally got the nursery decorated over the weekend, i've done it Disney Baby Tigger and the colours are lemon and aqua and now i've painted the walls that colour i think it looks a bit boyish so if we have a girl she'll have a boy nursery (not that she'll know) dh just says i'm been silly and it looks fine for either sex.

I'm not at work today, nothing wrong with me just thought i'd ring in sick for the week to get some rest cos i haven't slowed down at all at work and its not good for me or the baby so i thiught the only way to rest and slow down is not to go to work, so here i am 'resting' on mn.

kando · 07/11/2005 10:46

Hello ladies! Not been keeping up with the thread at all lately, aside from the fact that our pc has been playing up (so much so dh went out and bought a new hard drive - the old one is only 6/7 months old and still under guarantee, but as we're in Holland and we bought it in the UK ...!) I've been in one of those "can't be bothered" modes. Also been quite irritable recently too (nothing new there then, if you asked the dds or dh!) The pg is going well, still doing the injections, dd3 - never called her that before - is kicking and moving about loads which is great. The gynae put me on iron tablets as I was feeling tired and breathless all the time, and whilst I seem to have regained some of my energy, my "enthusiasm" doesn't seem to have kick started yet! Been having a hard time with dd2, she's got a wicked temper on her at the moment and we've been having some horrendous tantrums from her, usually directed at me. On the up side though, she's started nursery now so I'm hoping her behaviour will improve. I'm getting a bit panicky about the birth now - even though this is my third, and I know more or less what to expect, I'm still worrying about it! Can't believe that in just 13 weeks time (nearly) I will have a third child. God help me! I can't wait to have the baby in my arms though - I've been looking through old photos of the dds when they were tiny and remembering their smell and how much I used to love just cuddling them ... such happy times! Despite the temper tantrums from dd2, both dds are still very cuddly .. I can see we're going to have fights about who gets to cuddle dd3 first! Hope all you ladies are well and the bumps are all growing nicely! Will try to keep more up to date with the thread - you lot are a right chatty bunch, this thread grows at an alarming rate!!

flamesparrow · 07/11/2005 10:55

I tend not to give up anything much . I'm scared of crowds in general, so I don't have much of a problem there as I just wouldn't have gone anyway

Nothing pregnancy to relate, but big bounce about DD - she's learnt how to open the fridge, pour herself orange juice from the cartoon, and put it back, only spilling a teeny bit!!! I think we might be needing fridge locks, but still proud.

3k · 07/11/2005 10:58

Hello,

Just managed to read up on all the messages I missed over the weekend.

Tabs- I didnt have the diabetes test in the end - despite me booking an appointment for "next week" the receptionist has somehow managed to book me in this Friday instead. Wasnt very happy as I wasnt allowed to eat or drink before hand and my app was at 11.30am! I'm bad enough in the mornings at the moment.

I have called and left a message for midwife to call me back about the mumps thing, I think I'm also going to mention me feeling a bit down too as I'm back that way again today but I think it could be my boss as he is going on about how selling the business is a difficult decision (even though he has another job lined up) and how he feels bad if we dont go with him. The job will be in Croydon and as I live in Kent it will be a bugger to get to. My collegue - mumps lady - has another job now - good on her I say, she starts in Jan so will hand her notice in next month. That means come January he wont have any staff anyway as there are only 3 of us here! Anyway, I'd rather be at home with my feet up instead of here!!

hotmama1 · 07/11/2005 13:06

Afternoon girls.

Had a midwife check-up last week and she said that I was big for dates (was with dd1 as well) currently showing as nearly 30 weeks (was just over 27) so I think dd will be a biggie (dd1 was 8.10). I am being referred to an obstetric physiotherapist for my backache (and I now have got pelvic ache as well! ) combination of slack ligaments, big baby and carrying dd1 methinks.

Ordered a Phil and Ted E3 at the weekend as well as new nursery stuff for dd2 (as dd1 is still using the stuff I only bought last year ). What about this for a bargain, the shop I use is selling the business and as I have been such a good customer she did the order at trade - what a bloomin saving!

Agree H&M has the best maternity selection though I bought a coat from M&S Per Una at the weekend to get me through until the end of my pregnancy (granted it was the biggest size at size 18 and still is snug around the bump - but I will just be wearing it open with a scarf )

Hope you are all O.K and not feeling as achy as me.

Frizbe · 07/11/2005 13:10

3k I think your doing the right thing re ringing the midwife about mumps and the job, you could well be right about it helping to get you down, at the end of the day, there are plenty more things to do out there, its not worth the hassle, don't let your boss guilt trip you, if anything we're to happen to you (God Forbid) you'd be replaced in an instant, life is too short to worry about work!

Kando, nice to hear your news hope you'll have more chance to keep up with us all now the computer is faster!

FS well done to your dd

Cuffyj, good on ya for having time off and for getting the nursery done dh is supposed to do ours this week, but is off work today ill.....really hoping he gets better quickly (men and colds eh!)

Jas, your right

Frizbe · 07/11/2005 13:11

Sorry hotmama cross posts, glad to hear your all ok, early baby then???
Which shop is selling up then???

hotmama1 · 07/11/2005 13:15

Frisbe - thought dd1 would be early as was always large for dates with her but she was 9 days late so I'm staying on the Feb thread and not moving to Jan - probably going to have a nine pounder (think I'll be taking drugs again )

Been sworn to secrecy re the shop - but is just changing owner (thought it would be safe to gossip on MN )

Frizbe · 07/11/2005 13:20

oooooooooh so its not for sale then?

Frizbe · 07/11/2005 13:20

is it in mapperley?

hotmama1 · 07/11/2005 13:27

Nope!

Tabs · 07/11/2005 13:35

I feel sick. Bleurrghhh, bleurrghhh, bleurrghhh!!!

hotmama1 · 07/11/2005 13:38

Shall we have a competition to see who is feeling the crappiest at the moment? (Mind you someone has just given me a vanilla slice as it is their birthday - this has cheered me up )

lillady · 07/11/2005 13:39

read most of the threads!and ive just laughed at the thread from flame. My 14mth (pain in the backside)son who has just figured out that he is tall enough to reach up to open the fridge.
Didnt know he could do that untill he came walking into the frontroom eating a sausage roll with a huge grin, as if to say yep i can open the fridge now and im going to eat and pour everything thats in there!
Any1 else got a child liket that.
4year old s not impressed because he wanted the sausage rol in his lunch box for school - and it just happened to be the last one too - typical!

And Kando the smell of babys when there born GORGEOUS!
I have 5wks left till my 3rd baby is here,i want it now- and at the same time i dont want till after xmas!
If it turns out to be like my ds2 then ill be selling it on ebay.I have my hands full with ds2 on his own.
Not only that i dont think my belly can stretch anymore! My belly button is nearly poking out .With my other 2 pregnancies i managed to keep my belly bar in for a while!
OHHH I can almost smell the newborn baby smell!

Tabs · 07/11/2005 13:41

I must be sick - even a vanilla slice doesn't sound appealing at the moment .

flamesparrow · 07/11/2005 13:50

LOL - we first noticed her fridge opening abilities when she came in looking decidedly brown... she'd been out there nibbling the edges of my thornton's chocolate!!!

lillady · 07/11/2005 13:52

Good girl id say.Thorntons! She knows what to grab!

flamesparrow · 07/11/2005 17:11

Twas part of my swap package too.

JuA · 07/11/2005 17:56

Hello all
Am just back from a weekend at my mums - so had quite a relaxing time as she runs after dd so I don't have to
Feeling quite tired after the drive home but dd is parked in front of cbeebies and will be going to bed in about an hour and a half. Then all I have to do is wake dh for work and sort out tea - I think it will be take away as I haven't been shopping!

Have scan and antenatal appt tomorrow and MIL is coming over to look after dd so I don't have to drag her to the hospital - she has been really good the last twice I have been but I have not had a scan and consultant appt on the same day and thought that was a bit much to expect her to sit through. I always get a bit stressed before my scans cos I worry that one of them might not be growing enough although there is not alot I can do about it! Also they have both been moving loads in the last week - every time I sit down one of them decides to have a good kick!

Hope everyone is feeling a bit better - but just remember we are on the coundown now - if I deliver at 38 weeks that is only 12 weeks away - How scary is that?? and we have Christmas to distract us!!

YeahBut · 07/11/2005 19:30

Is anyone else feeling as though they've been pregnant forever but still have AGES to go. Can't wait for this baby to arrive! Not much to report from here. Bump growing at an alarming rate and Smudge is very active. Feeling pretty good but getting more tired now!

hotmama1 · 07/11/2005 20:14

I think this pregnancy is going really quickly. Last time I could put my feet up and look in books to see what was happening this week. Now, its pick dd1 from nursery and run around (O.K. waddle) after her before she goes to bed. Can't believe this is week 29 - going a bit too quickly - must get the stuff out of the loft and do some washing!

LOL at the Thorntons chocolates - what a girl after my own heart!

Tabs · 07/11/2005 21:56

Still feeling sick - that's constant for 18 hours now - bit late to start getting morning sickness isn't it?!

Also feel like Chip is going to burst his way out of the bottom of my bump today.

Going to bed now in the hope that all will be brighter in the morning.

Tabs · 08/11/2005 09:20

Morning ladies. Feeling a bit brighter today. Sickness appears to have gone at least, though still have tummy pains.

3K - how did it go with the midwife yesterday - did she call you back? I have my GTT this Friday too. Can't remember how late on Thursday night they said I could eat (well they did tell me 16 weeks ago!) - is it fasting for 12 hours before appointment?

JuA - enjoy the scan today.

Chloe + TicTac - where are you ladies? Hope all is well.

How is everyone else this fine morning
