edd 18/11
-just remembered about posting due date-

hi poppet- i've called my mw as there is a bit of a waiting list for apps so they advised to get in early.I know what you mean about the sleep-doof, and i'm out. it's like jetlag.

i've popped over and had a bit of a tidy up over at stats as it had got all over the place with missing bits (nesty cleany emoticon)Grin hope it's shiny enough.

cep · 22/03/2011 16:00

welcome to poppet fredericka and notjust welcome and congratulations to you all.

poppet i've booked my first mw app for next tuesday when i'll be 8+3

someone asked if i was feeling different, have to admit no. i'm relieved a bit but it won't be till i have another scan and have passed that date where it died last time that i'll actually relax totally. i know that sounds bad.

dirgeinvegas · 22/03/2011 16:07

Hello everyone, sorry for the absence. I had bleeding again over the weekend and couldn't face posting when everyone elses news was brightening the thread (Hi-fives Chip & Cep). Lots of great scan news on here this weekend so apologies if I have missed anyone and welcome newbies!

poppet & marthamay I used to be on the bf and ttc thread, I found it a great support but left after my MMC & name changed.

So, I had more bleeding on Sunday and a complete absence of ms yesterday which made me believe that I'd had amother mmc. Then had to take 2.2 DD to A&E after she told me she'd swallowed a 5p piece. 4 hours and a metal detector later and apparently it isn't true. So that's a day in hospital I'm never getting back.

I had my scan today as booked and baby is fine, heart still beating and measuring a perfect 8 weeks! I feel like I just got my bfp all

dirgeinvegas · 22/03/2011 16:10

Oh crap. Posting from phone, accidentally posted too soon.

Anyway, I'm pleased. I wanted to thank whoever posted the ms stats once a heartbeat has been seen. I feel much calmer now.

Glad to hear of all the vbac/home birth/water birth plans! Sorry for not posting much, I am reading and taking it all in but this thread moves fast!!

cep · 22/03/2011 16:10

dirge sorry bout the blood but yay for good scan. i have an image of dd on bed and dr running metal detector (like you see guys on beach with) over her. glad she's ok.

chipmonkey · 22/03/2011 16:15

The doc did tell me that up to 40% of women will bleed during pregnancy, dirge! Seems we've certainly had our fair share on this thread.

Glad you got your heartbeat!

chipmonkey · 22/03/2011 16:17

By the way, would it be unreasonable for me to ask medical staff to write in BIG writing on my notes that
1/ yes, this will be my fifth CS
2/ Yes, I do know the risks
3/ I am intelligent enough to have done my own research and to have specifically asked my obs the last time whether another pg would be ok and HE said YES!

dirgeinvegas · 22/03/2011 16:18

Oh it was so embarrassing Cep the metal detector went off on her jeans button and she clapped and said "well done doctor!". She still insists that ahe swallowed it. I will probably look back one day and laugh....

cep · 22/03/2011 16:18

chip put it on a post it note. Grin

cep · 22/03/2011 16:19

dirge does she play operation at home? Grin

dirgeinvegas · 22/03/2011 16:22

Oh God, yes, get something in your notes Chip. I have a similar thing going on because after a tear with DD they've advised a cs. Everytime I see someone different they ask me to justify my reasons. I am so fed up of it, though I have now mastered a condensed-speedy-version.

How are you now? Anymore bleeding?

You're right, this does seem to bs a thread of lots of bleeding and lots of positive stories after bleeding. I am not ruling out the super moon

dirgeinvegas · 22/03/2011 16:24

Grin Cep no but she does play piggy-bank with DH. I have warned him no more letting a two year old play with coins! Everything goes in their bloody mouth at this age doesnt it? Wonder when that stops...

chipmonkey · 22/03/2011 16:49

Bit more brown but seems to be just the end of the big bleed, dirge.

CazandBelle · 22/03/2011 18:21

So there really is a baby and he or she is measuring 6+6 weeks today and 9.7mm! I cannot tell you how relieved we were when they showed us the heartbeat on the screen. (Infact the Dr has written in our notes that we were delighted to see fetal heartbeat!)

The appointment itself was an hour and a half late which blew my anxiety levels through the roof. Not to mention having to go to the toilet twice and then down loads more water to fill up again incase I was called! It all feels incredibly real now. I can't stop looking at our little picture. The baby is so tiny!

We made ourselves go in Mothercare tonight and buy a pregnancy journal like we started at around 7 weeks with Belle. We must try to be as excited and have lots of lovely memories for No2 as we did for Belle. It was just as massive a step going through those doors as it was lying on a scanning bed again.

Next scan booked in for 26th April and seeing community midwife next Tuesday to do all the green notes and plan her part in my care inbetween my visits to the consultant. The Dr has also put me on a low dose of Asprin, purely precautionary (no blood or clotting disorders were found) but he has said it won't do any harm anyway.

Hope everyone else has had a lovely day x x x

chipmonkey · 22/03/2011 18:30

Yay caz!Grin My friend says her living room is like a shrine to her ds who was her PFB. She only last week managed to put up a pic of her dd!

CazandBelle · 22/03/2011 18:46

Ah little rainbow baby's picture has gone up alongside Belle's already :) I determined to treat them equally throughout this pregnancy and hopefully when we get to the end with a take home baby somehow I will make it work with their angel sibling. What a different family hey.

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 22/03/2011 18:59

Hey chatty ladies, how are we all this fine day? I went to the doctors, and told him I was pregnant again, and he said... so what? Go tell the midwife! So I did, and she said see you on the 7th of April. I asked about an early scan, and he said, don't be daft, there's no need, everything is fine. He was very matter of fact, but actually I found that very reassuring. So, I'm going to continue with my thought of being due on the 16th of November, and assume that everything is going to plan.

Caz I love the idea of doing a pregnancy journal, I think we are going to do one as well, I'm struggling to get DH enthusiastic about me being pregnant, and I think this might help. He's gone off into the attic to see if we still have our wedding planning book to see if we could continue it, and then use it for future pregnancies as well. Pregnancy must be very unnerving for you after what you've been through, I hope you are taking it in your stride ((hugs))

Poppet45 · 22/03/2011 19:27

So great to hear your news Caz - am I right your wee one is due on November 8th? That's me and my identical twin sister's birthday.... and if you believe in astrology, we're bloody lovely Grin
I fear DS could feel left out, given my husband's birthday is November 7, the wee bean appears to be due November 20.... and DS is an August babe!
Chipmonkey - I soooo hear you on mentally getting ready to fight for birth preferences, I have a feeling given DS's birth I might be pushed for a section, which of course I'll do if they really feel its the safest thing, but personally I'd rather avoid it this time. Although I hear electives are a world away from middle of the night emergency ones... what I really don't want during labour is to be strapped on my back on a bed covered in monitors - which unfortunately is the idealised vbac scenarios for some doctors. Lets hope we all get the safest, happiest - least eventful - births there can be! Although that feels a world away right now.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 22/03/2011 20:19

Evening all. So many exciting tales about first scans and new bfps but so hard to keep up with all the new names

Caz so pleased for you and can't begin to imagine what you have been through.

I saw my midwife yesterday and went through what I felt went wrong with DD's birth and what my options were for this time round.
She said that due to c-section, a home birth would be difficult (although not impossible but I would have to fight very hard).
We discussed active birthing etc as I believe, no I know, I can cope with the pain as long as I keep mobile.
Problem is, most obs want constant monitoring of VBACs which = strapped to a bed with a machine. On the plus side, pregnancies after a c-section are rarely induced.

We decided (and she was lovely) that I would 'push' for a homebirth but then give in as long as they agree not to constantly monitor and I keep mobile. That way, I get to labour at home for as long as possible and they feel pleased I've even made it to hospital :)
I feel the c-section last time affected my bonding with DD and my bf and I am determined it won't happen again.

I'm also going to hire a doula for the birth to support me in my choices.

Questions ladies, for those on 2nd or more pg:

I am a fairly large lady but am active and eat healthily, don't smoke and have reduced alcohol intake to 2 units a week max.
Anyone else out there like me and any tips for a natural birth despite lots of teeth sucking of consultants?

Anyone else have experience of doulas?

cep · 22/03/2011 20:28

dirge i don't know it drives me crazy he's 2.10 tomorrow and still puts things in his mouth, i can't get him to stop.

caz yay for a great scan, so pleased for you.

well ds has gone to sleep, we sprayed a "magic" spray at the wardrobe and corner of room to keep the scary things away, and am now praying like mad that it works and he actually sleeps through.

cep · 22/03/2011 20:34

mrsa i'm a large lady (20/22) i'm not active, and don't eat particularly healthy (i do try but not very good at it, dh whinges) i quit smoking a few years ago and have gone from drinking 1-2 glasses a night to having 2 glasses in 4 weeks. I'm only 1 stone heavier than i was with ds, i managed the whole labour on just gas and air. I haven't got space at home to home birth but would like to go in the midwife centre like i did last time. last pg i had to ask consultant but lost pg before i saw him. Never used a doulas, can't afford it.

If you know what you want fight for it.

cep · 22/03/2011 21:30

when we have older children, so funny. minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2010/04/06/wits-sweeney/

ImBrian · 22/03/2011 21:50

Hi, Im joining up. Got a BFP on Sat and due 17th so almost 6 weeks. Complete surprise tbh. Im separated from my 3 dds (10,5 &3) father and Ive only been with my bf for 5 months (been friends a lot longer). We had talked about doing this in a year or so time when we were living together etc but failing contraception had other ideas. So the next few months are going to be complicated and Im not looking forward to peoples reactions to our news. Im hoping coming on here and chatting to others might help make me feel a bit more excited etc.
Symptoms are very crampy, knackered, have been feeling sick but not too bad last day or so, dry mouth and a puffed up belly! Going to docs in morning to get reffered to mw and check everythings ok :)
I think thats it, hope everyones feeling well ;)

3rdTimeLucky2000 · 22/03/2011 22:19
