Hi all,

Another newbie - BFP on Friday Grin (cue whooping and hollering and general skipping round house) after 7 months of trying. This is our first and it's all becomming very real now. From my dates, I'm due late-November.

Have been feeling queasy pretty much since conception (with hindsight) and absolutely dying to tell people. Hey - and now I have... woo-hoo!

cep · 21/03/2011 19:23

welcome sherlock and congratulations.

chipmonkey · 21/03/2011 19:48

Fab news cep! So happy for you!

Welcome, Sweavind, katie and sherlock!

My Mum is here and I have been in bed all day. Ds1, ds2 and ds3 have all had a tummy bug in the last few days so it's puke-city around here! Mum is brilliant, bringing me up small portions of healthy food all day. I would love to just move her in permanently!

Pipsbump · 21/03/2011 20:44

Hello everyone,

Yay to cep, chip and knocked up. Really lovely news. Also hello to all the new ladies that have joined Smile

I had my first mw appointment on Saturday and it has started to feel more real.

I then spent the rest of the weekend sleeping alot. I thought that I had escaped ms, however today in work I felt queasy for 3 hours. I'm sure I was getting greener every second Blush think I covered it ok though and at lunchtime instead of something light I went for a lasagne, greedy but it helped :o

Still really nervous so I think we're going to go for a private scan next week (mw said I'll just get a normal dating scan at 6 weeks and that's when I'll meet my consultant about the dodgy blood).

Hope you all have a lovely evening. I am going to make myself a Brew and watch OBEM xxx

Hils74 · 21/03/2011 20:51

Woohoo chip that's good news fx for you

Welcome newbies!!

Is anyone really really bloated?? Today hasn't been particularly healthy but I look about 4 mths when I'm only 6+5!!

mashpot · 21/03/2011 21:37

Lots of great scan news today - congratulations all!

Is there any chance I will get a scan before 12 weeks? Do you just get an earlier scan if you have a problem/bleeding - or if you pay privately?

12 weeks seems ages away!

I'm having a herbal Brew with OBEM too.

knockedupagain · 21/03/2011 21:41

cep and bumps great news about your scans! We seem to have had a lot of good news lately - hope it continues! Welcome to all newbies. And thanks to everyone who has said encouraging things to me - much appreciated!

piply I went to FivMadrid in (not surprisingly!) Madrid. I found them really helpful, and very thorough. I have anti-kell antibodies in my blood from a blood transfusion I had when DD1 was born. It's similar to Rhesus factor, but more obscure, and FivMadrid made sure extra tests were done on my donors to ensure they were both kell negative, as otherwise it could have led to serious problems for the baby. I had separate donor sperm and donor eggs as I am single. It cost around £7k, though I suppose more if I added up flights, hotel, and all the tests I had to do first on top. My GP practice were really supportive and put as many tests thru on the NHS as they could. I still need to take hormone meds till week 12, and they're letting me have those too. Of course the NHS did accidentally sew my bladder to my vaginal wall when fixing a slight vaginal prolapse last year (leading to E Coli infection and hernia when bladder expanded massively), so I think my docs think it's fair enough for NHS to pay a little!

If your sister really wants a baby, then I think she should consider having donor eggs. The chances of success using her own eggs are very low, but I was told that my chance of success with a donated embryo was 50 - 65%. She can obviously use her partner's sperm (and save a little money).

knockedupagain · 21/03/2011 21:46

mashpot You generally get an earlier scan if you've been bleeding, or if you say you have been bleedingWink. If I didn't have the money for a scan, I wouldn't hesitate to say I'd been bleeding, and that it was starting and stopping. I think every woman has the right for a reassurance scan. Stress is bad for babies, and mental health important!

WuzzAndBuddy · 21/03/2011 22:04

Evening all,

Flying visit, I'm absolutely exhausted.
DS has been ill today, started with a sore throat, progressed to him choking 5 times because he couldn't/wouldn't swallow... totally scared the life out of me!
Finally went to sleep around 9, I'm done in!

Cep, really pleased it went well today, what a relief hey!?

Welcome to newbies! Congratulations!

Night night all xx

Truffkin · 21/03/2011 22:05

MashPot we're paying for our scan as we don't get one until 12 weeks either. I shopped around online as the prices vary from £50 to £150 and we're paying £75. I did think about claiming pain or bleeding to get one but couldn't shake the feeling of tempting fate so if we couldn't afford it we'd have waited for the first NHS scan (and my hubby would have waited until then to tell his folks too!)

mashpot · 21/03/2011 22:17

Thanks Knockedup and Truffkin for advice- I also wouldn't dare say I had been bleeding in case it made it happen.

I may pay for a private earlier scan - do you mind me asking where you're having yours Truff?

We haven't told anyone yet, my sister has had years of problems TTC and IVF and I don't want to tell family unless its really happening, if that makes sense, as it will be hard for her.

federicaengland · 21/03/2011 22:40

Hi everyone! I just found out I'm pregnant with my first child. Its totally unexpected but we're both very happy. I found out last tuesday and i've been having symptoms: tender breasts, abdominal pain, tiredness and mild morning sickness. However, they have disappeared completely in the last two days (apart from tiredness). Am I worrying too much?

Thanks all,
Federica

Poppet45 · 21/03/2011 22:54

Hello lovely ladies, room for another one?
I've added my stats to the other thread but also here again for those who don't want to click, I'm 32, I think I'm five weeks, and I already have a gorgeous 19 month old DS. Me and DH and appear to have caught the first egg after my period finally decide to return last month following it being missing in action since October 2008, what with being preggers and nursing - waves at marthamay from the TTC while breastfeeding thread. I'm another one whose had bleeding, only brown and pink and only when I wipe (sorry for tmi) Grin but I never had it with DS so it's been a shock and made it harder for me to believe that this pregnancy is real. Not sure if I'm bleeding due to DS being hauled out of the emergency exit last time and there's some scarring, or - please excuse the lentil weavery theory - could it be the supermoon? There appears to be a lot of us affected right now and the full moon does odd things to pregnant women according to my old midwife who said they boost staff numbers on full moon nights due to a surge in births. I'll put away from joss sticks now incase I've unnerved anyone Grin I think my EDD is November 20 and I'm hoping for a VBAC, I'd love a home waterbirth after being utterly amazed at how good the pool was during my labour with DS, but I daren't after things went rather tits up during my labour with DS. I think it's going to be a battle even for me to be allowed to use the pool given it's a VBAC, but tbh I'd just like to not end up a high dependency unit post labour this time. Arrrgh, why are we doing this again??? Anyway sorry for the epic post, and helloooo - twirls -

Poppet45 · 21/03/2011 22:57

Federica, my symptoms (albeit not many, a bit of burping and a couple of queasy spells) have also laid low abit since Thursday. I still have the tender boobs though. Try not to worry ... she says, worrying about the very same thing herself.

escapeartist · 22/03/2011 05:27

Argh... another worrier here. My sore boobs have gone a lot less sore (and, maybe I'm imagining it, also smaller/back to normal). I have read online on other forums as well as this one, that is is absolutely normal for symptoms to fluctuate, but I can't help worrying.

In fact, having booked a scan for next week (7+2) I have now decided to go tomorrow (6+4) just to put my mind at rest. Anyone with experience of fluctuating boob size/pain from previous pg that turned out OK?

deemented · 22/03/2011 07:41

I don't know if this will help, but in my last pregnancy, i didn't get any symptoms. Not one. If it wasn't for the facti didn't have a period, i honestly wouldn't have known i was pregnant.

7 weeks today, and feeling a bit better. Had some more spotting yesterday but sees to have eased today.

CazandBelle - good luck for your scan today my lovely x

TerrysNo2 · 22/03/2011 09:03

Morning everyone!

Welcome to federica and poppet - and congratulations!!

knockedup I forgot to say yesterday that I was so pleased to hear your scan showed a little bean. That one must be the fighter! Smile

Anyone else gone completely off chocolate and sweet things and craving fruit?? This happened with DS too so assume I am having another boy!

PS - can I ask that when we post we add in brackets our PG stage (eg: 7+5), I keep having to cross reference the stats thread.

Katiebeau · 22/03/2011 10:35

Morning everyone - good news KnockedUp. FX for you. Scan this PM (8+1) so I am praying for a heartbeat.

MS seems to be abating somewhat. I no longer want to puke if I move. Addicted to Innocent fresh orange juice and oranges themselves. And hard boiled eggs. I don't drink fresh orange usually, and I certainly don't like hard boiled eggs!!! But with salad cream - yummy. My GP said Vit C in fresh orange helps absorb iron and eggs have iron so it kind of make sense.

Sorry if my craving made anyone heave Blush

Welcome to all the newbies like me.

NotJustKangaskhan · 22/03/2011 10:51

New person here! Grin

I am now about 5 weeks (I've never been good at remembering the exact weeks+days) I got the positive last Saturday, and once again I wasn't able to tell my husband because he guessed (seriously, this is my fourth pregnancy and every time I've tried to do the big reveal, he's gone "You're pregnant". Apparently once I get a positive, it's written all over my face).

I'm very excited and very nervous/paranoid - pretty much like everyone else. My older two are also very excited (I have a boy and two girls. My boy, the eldest, is convinced it this is a boy and has even named him already...).

Haven't had any problems yet, symptoms wise, other than being more tired than usual. And having completely gone off bread. The only real problem for us is unsupportive families - my husband's parents are lovely, but practically gave my husband a speech after our third about how she should be our last so he's quite anxious about talking to them about it (He's Mr. Peacemaker and hates conflict, especially with his parents). My family lives abroad (I'm an American ex-pat) so other than my grandfather's complete happiness at the babies, my family is pretty uninvolved and uninterested.

So that's me and my life story Grin Sorry for it being so long - it was nice to get it all off my chest!

Woodifer · 22/03/2011 11:57

Hello and congratulations new peeps!Poppet and frederica and anyone else i might have missed.

To people worried about fluctuating symptoms - if you think you're paranoid - try being me - overwhelming tiredness and nausea - but irrational fear of missed miscarriage (as my sister had one - in between 3 healthy births i might add)

Arg how do i wait another 6 weeks for scan (at 12 weeks) - need to calm down and stop thinking about paying extortionate private scan fees.

marthamay · 22/03/2011 11:59

Hi there everyone! cep chip knockedup really good news about your healthy sticky beans, you must all be feeling like completely different women. Hiya to any newcomers like me .
I've got a big deadline this Thursday so trying to ban myself from lurking around on mn....had to stop for a cuppa and have a look how everyone was going.
Actually, I feel pretty 'flat' in terms of symptoms. I'm really tired but that could be to do with having a deadline and getting all stressed about it and also to do with DS waking tooooo many times in the night. Last night he woke at 3:20am and although I got him down fine, my brain just went into overdrive and I couldn't get back to sleep. So now it's midday, I'm supposed to be working hard and all I want to do is nap, nap, nap. DS gets home from nursery in 1 hour. I think on Friday when work is done then I will really relax and feel those preg hormones rush through me....hoping. Every day more that bean sticks I am a little happier and more confident.

Hope you are all having a good week!
Smile

chipmonkey · 22/03/2011 12:54

Hello newbies! Still brown bleeding going on but think it's just the end of the big bleed. Can eat my Mum's brown bread but not much else.Sad

Daiso · 22/03/2011 12:56

Sorry to repeat but another one here worrying Sad

I'm 4+5 and apart from the feeling sick in first 5 days, i literally have no symptoms whatsoever. No sore boobs, no sickness, no strange eating habits. I'm tried but i am a girl who sleeps for britain so being tired is nothing unusual. ( waking early too and realaly hot during night so could be adding to my tiredness)

I know there's no point worrying but can't help it.

Welcome to all the newbies - congrats!! Grin

federicaengland · 22/03/2011 13:06

Thanks everyone for your help! I feel a bit more reassured. My midwife is contacting me this week, so i'm sure i'll have more posts soon! Good luck everybody! Oh, i'm (7 weeks) by the way.

Poppet45 · 22/03/2011 13:48

Hi all!
I just remembered something I read from last time about fluctuating symptoms is that they appear each time the hormone levels increase, then disappear as your body gets used to the new raised level, then they rise again and you feel crappy.... etc etc. I definitely felt a bit ropey this morning, not helped by our cat puking extravagantly, my DH deciding to paint our hall and my DS honing how to spray porridge out of his mouth with almost every mouthful, and the mini hot flushes are ringing a bell too. Also when I'm asleep - bang I'm deep, deep asleep - which is very alien after bfing my son, who didn't sleep through for the first 16 months so I used to wake at a pin drop. I've not really got any food cravings - although I too have gone off chocolate, but unlike with DS I haven't really started to crave fruit and veg, or indeed anything healthy. Honestly last time I lived on salad... in January. TBH I don't really know what I fancy, haven't got much of an appetite but am getting rather fond of fizzy orange. Maybe this one's a girl?? Poor thing I'll splash out on pink hats and cardies but she'll be in DS's blue baby grows with them on as accessories Grin.
Last thing, is it too early to call a midwife? I kind of feel I should, but also feel it probably is.
