Just a quick post to say Congrats to NuttyM and it's fantastic that you are able to BF even though your LO is in hospital- Well done! Hope she is home with you very soon

Also wanted to say to Linzi 'stay strong' you have been through so much in the past and I hope that all those involved will see how different things are now

Hope everyone has been enjoying the sunny weather Grin

cowboylover · 11/04/2011 01:15

BBQ was fun, thanks all for asking and nice for it not to be just me overheating! DH turned in to the food/drink police for the evening checking everything I ate was properly cooked and tasting my squash every time he passed it to me incase it was one of my friends cider and black!

GotArt that's so nice of your friends and such a nice gift!

Jbrd I got my skirting board position sussed as lead on my side on the floor but be aware you get the full brunt of the gloss fumes and made my head spin! We have got laminate in the bedrooms and love it as really easy to clean.

Nutty great that you spend the cuddle time with her and must have been great feeding her.

I am getting very over excited at washing all the new baby stuff in my new washing machine! I hope this is not a sign of things to come so tried to balance myself out by listening to some metalica and pantera when sketching out some new tattoo ideas Grin

GotArt · 11/04/2011 04:46

pistachio Weird dream. I've not had any this time round, just the normal, run of the mill dreams. Last night it was that I couldn't get the car started.

Nutty Nice to hear its all going well.

cowboylover Ah... sounds like nesting. Wink

We ended up going for DimSum today for lunch, then a bit of grocery shopping and had an old friend over for dinner. Doesn't sound like much, but it was a full day here. Knackered. Going to ask DH to get me some ice cream on the commercial break, and head to bed. Grin

Bonkerz · 11/04/2011 07:13

will be at home today nursing a poorly DD but it does mean that once DS goes off in his taxi to school i get to go back to bed which is good as i have now been up for nearly 3 hours unable to sleep!!!!!!!!

Bonkerz · 11/04/2011 08:50

a quick one - sorry no name check -
DS's school has a case of mumps - he has had his MMR's... but should I be concerned at all? I know potentially bad news for pregnant women

cowboylover · 11/04/2011 12:03

I am going to pack my bag this week as well, thinking of one for labour and one DH can get out of the car later with stuff for the baby and more clothes for me!

We are going to Penzance this weekend so I will take it with me as MW said if I take it that should reduce the chances of needing to use it! Just got to find the details for the local hospital just in case. DH has already said he is determined to get me back over the Severn bridge if I do go into labour wants to make sure baby is Welsh.

Bonkerz I hope DD is feeling better soon and you can get some rest

Have packed 4 bags lol. Have done a changing bag for baby on e it's born and will see me through first night and a small case with my bits then have a overnight vanity bag with baby bits in for rest of stay and have done a day 2 bag for dh to bring to me if I need it! Am now thinking that I also need to make sure the other 3 kids have clothes ironed and sorted as although dh is a great dad he won't think of the finer details like matching clothes or ironing them lmao. Just need to buy some joggers and some more giant pants!!

cowboylover · 11/04/2011 12:33

LOL Loopy just spoke to my friend who's wedding it is and is also 20 weeks said its Turo so that's about an hour and a half I think! Can get back to Abergavenny in 5 hours! I will give you a wave Smileu

JBrd · 11/04/2011 12:49

Ooh, I was going to have another go at packing my bag as well today! Or tomorrow, depending on how it goes. All the stuff is currently laid out on the bedroom floor, when I tried packing last Friday, I kinda lost the will to live half way through and gave up - note to self: Don't pack your bag when you're tired!

I'm a first timer, so good to see your list, Loopy!

I'm adding the TENS machine (will probably be using it by that time, but still), some flannels and a small fan - I've heard that it can get really hot in the delivery rooms!
How about high energy drinks and snacks? I'm tempted to take lots of chocolate Wink

Is anyone planning on having a bikini wax or similar in preparation for giving birth? I can't decide whether to or not. I mean, on the one hand I really don't care all that much, but on the other I'd rather not look a total mess either. Decisions, decisions ...

juneau · 11/04/2011 14:23

Food: I'm going to take honey, bananas, cereal bars and ritz crackers. And a large bottle of water.

I haven't started packing my bag yet, although I have been slowly adding to the pile of crap in the corner of the bedroom that will become my hospital bag Smile

ilovemydogandMrObama · 11/04/2011 16:28

Re: bags. PILLOW unless you like NHS flat ones! Wink Grin

loopy When DH and I got married in October, we did a tour of the Royal Cornwall in Truro. Apparently it's doing a, 'Sam Cam' if you aren't from the area and go there...

pistachio oooh, what was delivered?

oh dear you are all so organised it is making me nervous!
I am going to have to start putting mine together.
tomorrow!
SO MANY Braxton hicks these days..
Hope you feel better soon linzi and join the club of those if us not getting on with DPs!
I also sometimes wonder why I am having another child - life stresses and all.
But I can't wait to meet her :)

runningmonkey · 11/04/2011 19:09

Hi all,

bags I packed mine a couple of weeks ago as I bought a load of stuff for it and didn't have anywhere to put it... can't remember what's in there now though! I know I do need to add my TENS (thanks for the reminder jBrd), a water bottle and snacks for me though - have put a bag of haribo in to keep DH going! Have also packed a little overnight bag for DD in case we need to utilise the offer from our cm about looking after her if my Mum can't get to us on time.

Interesting what you say about eating pistachio my hospital were encouraging me to eat right up until the point of me having an epi - something to do with having enough energy to see me through - had been at it for 2 days by then though Hmm. Didn't want me to have anything after epi though in case I needed to have a CS.

juneau never ever had a wax in my 34 years of life so don't plan to now - will try to contort myself to reach and have a trim though so I'm not too bushy Blush :o

Bonkerz hope your DD is feeling better

cowboy you're not at all sad to be excited about washing baby clothes at all - I washed all the unisex clothes from DD at the weekend and the grobags, cot and moses basket bedding. Was v exciting seeing it fluttering on the line. :o at the metallica, pantera and tattoo designing - I used to dance around the room to rage against the machine when overdue with DD in an attempt to kick start labour. Now with a toddler, the most played things on our itunes are zingzillas and the theme song from something special Hmm

Nutty well done on the bf and the cuddles sound fabulous. Am so pleased to hear you are all doing so well :)

jbell glad you had a nice b'day weekend with your DD.

linzi glad you are feeling more positive and hope it continues.

gotart that shower sounds so lovely, what nice friends you have.

Hello to everyone else loopy, ilove, pissovksi, omnom and anyone else I've forgotten x

Scan for me tomorrow - fingers x'ed that all looks good and I can give birth however and wherever I fancy :o

brillopads · 11/04/2011 19:57

WTF the TENS machine on Lloyds pharmacy website has been halved in price - now £15 but it's still Out of Stock... makes no sense at all

Bonkerz · 11/04/2011 19:59

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

thanks i needed that!
Have been having pains all day.....tummy cramps and pulsating back pains that have been alternating but just niggly really. HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I BEEN TOLD ITS SLOW LABOUR???? too many times. I dont need help to be paranoid! thankfully my head is clear and i know i have never done spontaneous labour and when i did do natural labour 11 years ago i was such a wimp i couldnt even stand up at just 2cm dialated LOL
The problem is the more people say it the more i start doubting. Ive not timed them because they have not got more painful all day (woke at 5am with them) so logically im fine. Only 35+1 anyway so defo not labour pains more braxton hicks.

it is all nearly over isnt it???? lol

GotArt · 11/04/2011 20:20

juneau I'm definitely getting waxed! Just note though, even if you are a waxer, it is a wee bit more tender and sensitive.

All this bag packing and birth preparation is making me feel lazy... Grin runs off to get list for home birth box

PomPoms for Bonkerz

JBrd · 11/04/2011 20:28

juneau - glad I'm not the only one thinking about whether I can be bothered to tidy up down there.... However, I know for certain that I will not be having a wax! Had one earlier in pregnancy, when I couldn't reach anymore myself, and I had the most awful skin reaction afterwards! Broke out in a horrible rash with lots of spots/infected hair follicles, not a pretty sight! Probably because the area down there doesn't get a lot of air these days, as I never had that problem before i.e. when not pg.
Thinking of getting some Veet now, and then let DH do it Grin

Trying to get all my appointments out of the way this week! Midwife this morning, then dentist, and am getting my hair done tomorrow. Treated myself to a pedicure today, another region I can't reach anymore! And DH refused to clip my toenails, so heyho, what can you do...

juneau · 11/04/2011 22:13

JBrd- I had a pedicure today too - so my swollen feet now have pretty painted nails!

I don't like the sound of the rash, etc, and knowing my luck that would happen to me. Thing is, I don't think my DH would agree to Veeting me - he's weird about personal hygiene at the best of times - so I may have to stand on a DS's step in the bathroom so I can use the mirror over the sink and do it myself. I had a little trim with the nail scissors a couple of weeks ago, but it's hard when you're working from a mirror image! Do beauticians do non-wax hair removal I wonder?
