running LOL at the rage against! DH was in a band and I can vividly remember the killing in the name of cd on constantly when he was learning the solo on guitar and it apparently has complicated timing so took what felt like months! I can imagine me moshing now to get her going! Grin

Juneau I bought one of the half price wilkinson sword razors with a bikini trimmer on and after some precarious mirror placements I gave up and DH did it for me! I have been really enjoying my pedicures and got pretty toes with sparkles, might try and keep the habit up after.

Brillo that's weird but the cheapest Ellie TENs I have seen anywhere so think I might order that as was going to hire if the cheaper one didn't come in this week as getting close now!

Now got my sweet tooth back and happily munching on mini eggs! Yummy!

well my sister sent down a wheat bag last night so i had that on my back but it didnt help the pains. I had a bath, no help BUT i got into bed at 9:30 and they got worse......cue DH slighlty panicking and rubbing my back! decided to take 2 co-codamol and was fell asleep so they must have helped. Slept from 12:30-4am and then again from 5-7 and just feel achy this morning. Am going to toddler group with my sister today and then to do the food shop but have taken some co-codamol already so should manage till lunch time.
loopy yes i did say ironing! LOL i actually only iron what we need for the day, all clothes get put away creased! I am a slob!!!! Hence the need to iron kids stuff for when im in hospital although DH saw a FB status last night and got offended that i thought he couldnt iron the kids clothes so i had to smooth talk him round lol and said that it wasnt the ironing i was worried about ;0) it was the matching outfits and he saw what i meant luckily! LOL

right im off out to walk like a penguin and generally be the walking freak show with a sign on my belly saying touch me (why do strangers do that?) and no doubt say the phrase 'it may have gone quick for you but not for me' a thousand times! Have a nice day ladies!!!!!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 12/04/2011 09:20

Loopy could it be with the m/w that she feels that she can be honest with you? So, when you asked her what she was concerned about, she kind of 'lost' her m/w hat of being reassuring and told you a bit too honestly? And then in the supervisors meeting, she was a bit more objective?

Thanks for the warning about after birth with DC3 being painful... Wink

omnomnomtom · 12/04/2011 14:13

loving all the rocking out! Am more a QOTSA fan here although I was partial to a bit of Pantera back in the day! Grin

you are all making me think 'must... pack... maternity...bag!' am hoping that all you organised lot are those due a week or more ahead of me. Having said that can't remember using anything out of my labour bag last time other than the baby clothes. Used some of the stuff I had packed after when admitted to the ward but am hoping to avoid an overnight stay this time- was there for 3 nights last time and it felt like an eternity. Oh and will definitely pack tons of breast pads just in case I have to stay in hospital- I very nearly flooded the ward when my milk came in last time Grin

Bonkerz I must confess to never ironing any of DSs clothes- they are so small I think they don't really need it and are always filthy within 2 secs flat anyway- but I am a total slob about most things- sorry you are having back pains but keep us posted if it develops into anything more

On This Morning they said Holly 'might' be in labor- she is due in the middle of May isn't she? Makes you realise it could happen at any time. We are all getting close now!

loopy telephone call sounds positive- glad you have had some better news

cowboylover · 12/04/2011 14:13

Loopy damm car seat, I didn't think of that! Ours has not come yet Hmm if it happens I will be sending DH to explode Truro for a Argos or something to get a cheapy! It will all be fine......... And breath!

pistachio that's really sup prising with the eating ect as in our ante-natal classes at the hospital she told us to feed the contractions as best we could!

Sorry if TMI: DH's doing the bikini trimming; could it be the last opportunity to ask for a "while you are there?" Wink

Looking forward to tomorrow as my aunt (who is only 4 years older so more like a sister) is coming from Gloucester with her children to make the most of the fact the welshes are still in school so the attractions are still quite quiet here.

omnomnomtom · 12/04/2011 14:17

x-posts cowboy I think there is an Argos practically next door to the hospital in Truro so don't panic!

cowboylover · 12/04/2011 14:20

Cross posts omn I used to have a pick of the old bassist from QOTSA on my wall as thought he was yummy! If baby is ever quiet a spin in the car with some crunching riffs will always cause a kicking frenzy! I hope it's because she likes it Smile

Yes I think Holly is due 15th so watching in anticipation what happens!

DontWorryBaby · 12/04/2011 14:35

Sorry to swoop in without a proper catch up but have a baby carrier question for Loopy:-

I had settled on a Babyhawk but haven't been able to find one in stock in the UK in colours which will suit. Do you know of any others similar? Also - what is your opinion on baby bjorn carriers? Someone had recommended a Baby Bjorn Active but is this the type which is best to be avoided as they don't hold the baby in the correct position? If I can't find a babyhawk and the baby bjorn isn't suitable, I think DH will just about wear a wilkinet so that will be the next option. Thanking you in advance!

And yes, I hear Holly is in labour. Grudgingly sending good luck vibes as I knew she wasn't too far ahead of me and I think I still have a long way to go... four weeks of work anyway. She's having a girl this time isn't she? Wonder what name she will go for...

Cowboy your TMI post just made me Grin !! I've so given up any hope of having a tidy bikini line until some time post birth - the fact that I've recently had my hair cut and highlit, had a pedicure and shaved my legs is frankly as far as I can contemplate going at the moment!

Loopy curious question for you - do you generally practise attachment parenting? You've mentioned BF, babywearing, cosleeping and home birth so far, so I was wondering if it was part of an overall AP philosophy?

I have definitely joined the grumpy brigade now - had been feeling really quite cheerful and perky, until the last few days, when I have spent much of the time cross, impatient and generally fed up for no particular reason - and unfortunately I seem to have no reserves of patience for DS' usual toddler nonsense. He's recently started being difficult at mealtimes (refusing to come to the table, then refusing to eat saying "I don't want lunch" and pushing it away, even though he's hungry and likes whatever it is) - for some reason this just makes me absolutely hopping mad at the moment, probably doesn't help that I'm usually hungry myself at the time! Grrr.

I'm also feeling like baby might be imminent - could be completely wrong of course, but I feel pressure on my back passage, my Braxton Hicks have been frequent and, though not painful, definitely very strong and uncomfortable for the last few days. I actually had to breathe through one in the car on Sunday. Would be very happy for baby to come any time from the weekend - but preferably not before Thursday because that's when the MW is coming to the house to discuss homebirth practicalities! Of course, this may all be wishful thinking and she'll take another 4 weeks to make an appearance...

Re hospital bags, I packed mine a couple of weeks ago after the registrar terrified me by saying I could go into preterm labour at any moment and must go to hospital IMMEDIATELY if so. I've definitely packed much less than last time - I'm sure I only used about 20% of the stuff I took for myself last time. loopy's helpful list did just remind me to put a couple of muslins into the baby bag however! An easy-reading book would also be a good plan I think - I might take one of my favourite Georgette Heyers to re-read Smile

runningmonkey · 12/04/2011 19:36

Evening all, back from scan and all good - estimated at just under 7lbs at 36+3 so big but not too big :) mw appt on thurs to discuss birth options :) definitely a boy too - first thing we saw was a pair of cahoonas!!

On phone so can't scroll back easily will catch up properly tomorrow. Hope everyone is ok x

DontWorryBaby · 12/04/2011 19:44

Thanks Loopy, DH has nabbed the laptop tonight but I'll have a look tomorrow and place an order.

StiffyByng · 12/04/2011 20:07

Hi. I've been a very, very poor poster - I expect I'm one of the people who has been disappeared off the stats thread! - but I'm on maternity leave now, and pretty much housebound, so can actually keep up a bit! I've read through this whole thread and send condolences to all the uncomfortable, stressed, sleepless and worried people. I think that may just cover the lot of you! I promise to name check as I post after this but I can't address everything or I'll post the longest post in the history of Mumsnet.

I'm 37 weeks today, which is great, as it means I can have my baby with my lovely community midwives rather than get sent to the hospital. Not that there's any sign of labour. As far as I know I'm not engaged, and I have no twinges, or any other sign that I will be having this baby at any point soon.

But I DO have SPD, which means I can't move much. I'm going a bit crazy as nesting has well and truly set in, the flat is a mess, none of the baby stuff is ready, some of it not even delivered (endless delays of stuff we ordered at the Baby Show back in February) and I can't physically do even basic cleaning. I sympathise SO MUCH with the non-sleepers. I think a lot of the SPD pain I have now is muscular rather than my pelvis, and I've been seeing a chiropractor regularly and using crutches, but it means massive muscle spasms as soon as I lie down at night! And I'm missing all the lovely weather as our garden is full of my neighbour's builders (don't ask).

We're all set for our home birth, apart of course from having any of the stuff ready (can't wait to buy that sieve...), and I am excited about labour apart from the SPD issue, but I've been assured by a few people that it won't cause big problems. I'm just hoping that this baby (#1) doesn't go too overdue as I really would love to be able to walk again. And meet him/her of course.

StiffyByng · 12/04/2011 20:10

Fingers crossed Rollercoaster that you make it to the weekend and not a day more!

I meant to say, it's not just the hair on my head that's been growing luxuriantly over the past few months. Blush I can actually make a Status Quo-style pony tail down there now. I seriously need to get to work with the nail scissors or the baby will be invisible.

Hello all,

Lovely to here how everyone is getting on :)

I am 37 weeks tomorrow, and still need to pack bags and pick pram up, but DH has just finished putting the cot together, so that's another thing done. Think tomorrow will be 'grooming day'. I desperately need to colour my hair (far too much grey showing!! :( ) and get it trimmed. Lower down also needs a trim - will have a go with hand held mirror and little trimmer thing. Had to cut toe nails yesterday - what a palaver!! Think i might book in for pedicure (first one ever!!) as my feet resemble the trotters of a very very ancient piggy - oink oink!!

2nd ante natal class tomorrow night too!

We did the 5 hour journey to SIL's last weekend (down on fri and back sat) It was fine but we were both knackered!

Thinking of you all as time wears on!

jbells · 12/04/2011 22:45

Just a quick one catching up on my fone in bed. Very jelous of all those reaching 37 wks it seems like such a milestone and is still 2 and a half wks away for me :( will do my best to name check tomoro. Nite all

GotArt · 13/04/2011 02:51

Ah... my first came at exactly 37 weeks. Funnily, I didn't really know. Every little twinge lately with this one has me thinking. lol.

MW appointment today; 33cm at 33 weeks. Don't think it really means anything, just interesting numbers.

Waves to all

Can someone post the due date list again for a refresher?

Yay, today I'm 37 weeks and it's my last day of work! I slept badly again so am feeling very happy that tomorrow I won't have to get up, try to look all corporate while feeling this ginormous, shlep into work and pretend to care!! In the last few days pregnancy just seems to have got so much harder and also someone from my NCT class who was only a week ahead of me gave birth on the weekend!

Congratulations nutty and glad to hear everything is ok.

Bonkerz · 13/04/2011 08:11

morning all.
Yesterday was a weird day with pains etc. Started off uncomfortable so took co-codamol and then went through whole day knowing they were there but more aches than pains and then again when i got to bed they stepped up......Maxwell's movements were very odd yesterday though and i felt every little toe and every little joint when he moved which made my sister panic as just after lunch TMI ALERT i yelped when i went toilet as my wee was a weird colour and tinged pink........panic waters dribbling etc hence the feeling more of baby BUT then i came back to reality and decided that whilst he is moving fine im not turning into a panicky paranoid pregnant woman or PPPW! LOL
slept weird last night but have woke up to much of the same, niggly back and pain in left shoulder BUT i have a whole day of 'studying' to do so can sit on sofa and rest my weary body!
Didnt watch the breast feeding doc last night so plan to on catch up today. I actually over supply and have done every pregnancy so am expecting it this time too. Its a nightmare! Baby generally chokes on my milk and it pours out of nose and caused reflux in DD. I also end up being unable to leave the house after about 5 days as i have flannels folded into 4 and shoved down my bra and these need changing or topping up every hour and when i feed i have to have a cup or bottle under the other boob. I must add i plan to breast feed but experience has told me that any longer than 2 weeks does not help my PND and so i plan to do it for a max of 2 weeks and will then be bottle for Max! purely selfish reasons but i cannot be depressed like i was with DD (got so bad i actually thought about drowning her one night in the bath which was horrific for me and DH and luckily he was there with me and called the HV immediately who was amazing and got me lots of support) OH and i need to stop BF because (slummy mummy alert) My sister bought me a huge bottle of malibu today and I NEED A BLOOMING DRINK lol
