Vicbic · 09/04/2011 20:56

Congratulations Nuttym! How are you feeling after everything? I hope it's not too far to travel to the hospital from home.
Linziluv - hope you're ok. As others have said, it sounds like you have a good lot of support around you, so hopefully this will be equally obvious to those on the conference call.
I would also recommend Bravissimo for bra fittings, as they know their stuff and have a good choice. I've never rated M&S for bras as they never seem to be the size they claim!!
Still in hospital at the mo but very cheery as left for a couple of hours today to go to one of my best frienx's weddings, which i thought i would have to miss, until a couple.of.the midwives told me.how.i could.discharge myself even if it was a.little.against advice!!
Loopy - i'm sure there is a back story to this which i should know, but how.on earth do you manage to retain so.much info about slings?! Maybe it should be your specialist subject on masterind!

linzi Your MW sounds horrid passing on all those scary stories. Completely unfair. Maybe just tell her nicely, Grin that you really do not want to hear them. Not a good time to be getting you wound up. And the conference is going to happen at 38 weeks!? You could very well have had the baby by then or the stress will put you into labour. Well, you've got a great support system here too, even if it is virtual.

*Ilovemydog) Ya, you definitely don't want a massage from someone who isn't pre-natal trained... certain points can induce labour.

Nuttym Congratulations... glad to hear early bird is doing well. How are you feeling?

Vicbic Must have been lovely to get out for a bit.

Mmm.. BBQ's... well, living in Canada, we BBQ all year round, even if its raining. lol

We haven't forced the potty training with DD but had a potty in the washroom, and after seeing her little friend use it, DD started to use it. So at home, she is diaperless, but we haven't ventured out just yet without one, although she does tell me if she has to go. Yesterday though, I went into the washroom after her and noticed pee on the floor, thinking she missed the toilet emptying the potty, but then she went back in later, and I went to turn the light on for her, and she was sitting on the toilet! She an climb up on it! Shock This morning she took her poo on it too. I'm so impressed, but completely realistic that it will all go down the toilet when NB arrives, no pun intended. Grin

Also today, this morning I was under the impression DD and I were going over to one of my mama friends place for a playdate and an 'interview' by her nursing master student friend for her thesis on parenting and the changes in our lives and I got there, slightly late as usual, and it was a surprise baby shower!! I couldn't believe they pulled it off. It was fab. They bought a slew of white one-zees and we painted them with holiday stuff and birthdays and it was just fun. The big present was the Sit&Stand stroller I've been eyeballing too! How awesome is that!!! I'm beaming. I'm so lucky to have such a great bunch of mummy friends.

Baby Trend stroller Can't wait to get it out. Grin

DD lived in a sling when we were at home. DH used to wear her too. She loved it. She stopped at about 6 months, thank goodness because my shoulders were killing me. Grin

I'm up way past my usual bedtime of 10 but I usually read and wait for DH to get home to have a wee chat and then pass out, but have been waking at about 2 or 3 and stay awake for a couple of hours, then DD comes in at 7.15... argh. DH has also taken up snoring in the past year, which makes it difficult too. Can't wait to buy a house and have a spare room... or maybe just my own room. Grin ... We've shared a bed now for longer than I slept on my own, I think its time I got my own room again. Grin Wink

Night night all... or good morning. Have a great day.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 10/04/2011 08:15

jbells He did quite well yesterday and was so pleased with himself when he managed to do a wee in the potty. Am going to bite the bullet and put underwear on him and go out of the house!

GotArt she did give me a massage. Haven't gone into labor . Ah, so lovely a surprise baby shower. Smile My cousin in California threw me one when I visited with DD when she was 4 months. It was a brunch buffet and had it outside.

loopy What I like about the Papoozle is that you can put the main part on, like a Baby Bjorn, but then is stretchy. Hopefully my back will be in working order by then!

JBrd · 10/04/2011 08:52

Nuttym - congratulations! This must have been so scary, glad to hear that your little one is doing well!

36 weeks tomorrow! How exciting, it's getting real now... We'll be doing the nursery in the next few weeks - and by 'we' I mean the Royal We, i.e. DH will be painting Grin. I don't think I can cope with anything else but painting a few skirting boards, maybe... Decided that we'll get new carpets for the stairs and landing now (been meaning to do that since last year and never got round to it), and while we're at it, will get the nursery room done as well, the carpet is completely shot in that room. Can't make up my mind whether to go for carpet or some nice laminate... Laminate will be easier to clean! We've got it downstairs, and it's really nice, lots of people think it's wood. Decisions, decisions.

My hips are killing me at night, anyone else has that? I wake up 4-5 times because they hurt so much, and changing sides doesn't help, both sides hurt! I can't wait to be able to sleep on my front again!

NCT course finished yesterday, that definitively was money well spent. Both DH and I enjoyed it and found it so useful, and met some nice people there.

Better go and wake DH, he needs to sort out our compost bin today, it's leaking! He's been looking forward to that all week

Just popping in to say Hurrah! Am 37 weeks today, so officially now full term... Grin

Have a lovely day in the sunshine everyone!

Justtrying · 10/04/2011 10:45

Just popping in for a quick hello, hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine. I'm counting down the days until i start maternity leave, 4 actual days to go but last day is the 10th of may, if i still feel ok, due on the 20th. Pottering today, DH is prepping the nursery, just finished stripping wallpaper and now sanding so painting will hopefully start this week. I've finished the ironing and about to through a duster around before i do the roast.

Getting impatient to meet LO, yet scared about the actual birth and the enormity of becoming a parent.

Bonkerz · 10/04/2011 11:53

hi all! Great to see the first birth already (if a little early) im so happy all is well! Congrats!!!!

Yesterday wasnt a great day for me. Woke up in a low mood......could have happily hibernated. Max didnt wake up like he normally does around 4am or 8am so i laid in bed till gone 9 trying to nudge him awake. Eventually he decided to take a stretch at gone 11am (after advice from a friendly MN doula on my FB) but those few hours were very worrying!
This morning thankfully he woke at 8am with hiccups so im feeling more relaxed!
Went to a family party last night, had planned a little bit of alcohol but feet had swollen during the day (mad dash to buy unsightly crocs to fit my feet) so thought better of my treat and stuck to lemonade! Luckily the 3 kids behaved impeccably and i managed to find a nice corner where i could put my feet up and not look stupid! DSD even went to buffet table and bought me back a plate of pickled onions and beetroot (bless her!) to make me feel better (were her words!) and after planning to leave party at 10 we finally got in at 11:45!!!!!
Dh got up with the kids this morning and disappeared out with them at 9:30 and they are still out so ive had a nice lie in and some peace and quiet which is very welcome right now!

Got bad backache today that comes in waves low down. belly is softer at front so im thinking he has just swung round to the back again and i can feel his back against mine! TMI ALERT.....more yucky discharge today and yesterday too......disgusting! can honestly say i have never had this with my other 2 pregnancies but i have also never done spontaneous labour either so wouldnt know if anything was wrong anyway! LOL

29 days or 716 hours left of pregnancy if all goes to plan and i make it to MAy10th!

pissovski · 10/04/2011 14:11

Hi All

Huge congratulations to Nuttym - 7 weeks early must've been really scary!

linzi sorry to hear about what's going on :( stress you could do without. Hope everything gets sorted for you

jbells i think you are lucky :D i got first grey hair at 15!! Now have loads and have to colour regularly

GotArt woohoo for surprise baby shower - how lovely :)

I am 37 weeks on wed - scared/excited/panicky! Little un is wriggling around after a few quieter days. All seems to be ok

GotArt · 10/04/2011 17:36

Heidy Hoe! What a crumby rainy day here... and DH is off. Ah well, we could just hibernate and watch movies. Grin

Bonkerz Nice to have a wee lie in. They make a huge difference, eh.

Achy hips here too but I since sticking a pillow between my legs, its better. But when I have to roll over, man, what a production.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 10/04/2011 17:49

Know what you mean about rolling over being a production. I have to get out of bed to turn over! Grin

Thank you all for the wishes :)

It was scary as my my water broke and had to have an emergency c-section. All is well now and hoping that my DD will be able to go home in another 2 weeks.

Nuttym · 10/04/2011 18:48

Accidentally posted the message without completing it.

My DD was born at 32 weeks 5 days and weighed just 1.3 kg. She is tiny for her gestation. Because of my unusual placenta she was not getting enough nutrition.

Luckily I don't have to travel that far from home so I try to fit in two visits of 4 hours everyday :) love the time when I kangaroo cuddle. Big day for me today as the LO one had two good breast feeds. Not long to go now when she will be home with us :)

Hey...god this thread moves fast!
Feeling a bit more positive today...mum has been a star as usual. She's told me not to worry about work...my old nanna wants to give me money to cover bills till mat leave bless her. She reckons it's the only way she can help these days being nearly 90 lol.
Not as worried about conference now...I'm sure it's about how I'm functioning now rather than what happened 2 years ago!
DP and I are so not getting on at the moment...luckily we don't live together so can rest at home!
Have got a cold and/or chest infection...feeling rough...hardly ate in days but thankfully have put enough away over the last few months to afford to lose a bit!
Hip and back a little better but still twinges after standing for a while.
pistachio, I've been feeling the same re. not sure I want another baby! Thought I was weird but perhaps not Grin.
With you ladies complaining of hip pain in bed! I just can't get comfy!
There's sod all on tv tonight so looks like I'm gonna have to MN all night!
