Hi Crazydayz,
The thought of twins would have been enough to raise my blood pressure sky high all by itself! Glad to hear that it got better for you though - must have been a big hugs relief. Yep, i've had the two injections for steroids for baby's lungs... Not too bad at all really!

BizzeeBee · 03/04/2011 14:32

Good news - mum called this morning to thank me for her flowers. I was getting worried about where they were because I knew my mum would call to say thanks. I had selected them to be delivered on Friday ('cos I'm too tight to pay the Sunday delivery premium rateWink), but they were delivered this morning, which is a great day for them to arrive. phew

Hi, Vicbic no real experience myself (am a first timer) but I am now "an expert" Wink having watched a lot of having babies programmes on the Discovery Home and Health channel in the last couple of weeks. I expect that they will weigh up what is best for you and what is best for baby and hold off on delivery for as long as possible, but as soon you or baby cross some threshold it will be best to deliver, even if it is a bit early. Hope your diabetes test tomorrow goes OK.

stripey I think we ended up spending as much on our cotbed mattress as we did on the double mattress for our spare bed (although that was 9 years ago). Shock John Lewis ended up selling us a sprung one, but that's because we didn't want one with too much foam due to how hot it can get here and foam is uncomfortable in the extreme heat. Will have to make sure it stays in the cotbed long enough to gets our moneys worth out of it.

linziluv did you get a card with mummy on the front? Me and DH are also having name issues. There are very few names that we like, and then we can't agree. I am threatening the bump that it will be called Bunny if it arrives on Easter Sunday! I noticed that Honey and Bunny are in the baby names book, so maybe we could call it Honey Bunny... Wink

brillopads sounds like you are making good progress with your shopping. Not long to go now for finishing work on the 15th. If you are loosing your seat due to the new seating plan, maybe you'll get an even better seat when you go back to work (thinking positive thoughts). Did mothercare price match the Bee?

pistachio nice handbag. Unfortunately for me I'm not getting an exciting changing bag. DH (sensibly) wanted just an expensive one in plain black so DH can carry it too and still feel semi-manly! this bag

qwerty and jbells I hope you are both able to work things out. I can't offer any proper advice other than to try and realise that it is difficult being pregnant at the best of times, and to try and see things from your partners' points of view. Hugs.

Loopy I hope the dance show went OK. Will you get some rest this evening, or have got got to spend all night undoing the hair that you spent all morning putting up? I remember my mum cursing when me and my sister were both in a show for our dance school, and both of our classes did things that required my mum to make elaborate costumes, whereas some of the other classes just had shop bought leotards that were simply accessorised - much easier! DH said that he hoped it is a boy so he can take him out playing golf (I didn't feel like getting into the discussion about why couldn't he take a girl out to play golf), but then he changed his mind a few minutes later when he realised how expensive it would be for him to have a child with golf as a serious hobby! Grin

Phew! I think I need some chocolate after typing all that! :)

BizzeeBee · 03/04/2011 15:22

No, your eyes aren't deceiving you, this is my third message in one day!

I keep a record of all the flights I take. Having done my last business trip a couple of weeks ago, and decided that I won't be having any more weekends back in the UK, I thought I would count up how many flights my little baby has taken since conception. The shocking total is 59 separate flights over 18 trips covering 46,000 miles in its 32 week life!!! Shock I hope it turns out to be a well behaved baby on the plane after all that preparation!

DH has gone to the UK on his own for a final boys weekend before the day. Absolutely typical that when I finally get the TV to myself it is Embarrassing Bodies and not OBEM that's on on Friday night. This afternoon I am going to continue my Downton Abbey marathon that I started yesterday afternoon. I didn't see any when they were on the TV so nice to see it now in peace. I have put DH's shirts on a chair to encourage me to iron them this afternoon, but I am succeeding remarkably well at ignoring them! I think I'll just pop them in the ironing cupboard and he'll never know that I even considered ironing them for him.

I don't know if I remembered to say, but I had my scan 10 days ago. Baby was head down! :) Hopefully it is staying there now. I am semi-concerned that it does so much wriggling that it might wriggle itself out of position.

Mystery of the day today concerns an optical illusion. My waist bump circumference is 41", and my hips measure 43", but bizarrely my bump looks so much bigger than my hips. Confused

I think I might have overdosed on chocolate. (is that possible?) Time for a little snooze in front of the telly :)

QwertyQueen · 03/04/2011 15:23

Hi all.....
Feeling much better today as spend the mornign with DS and a friend and her DS - we went to the aquarium and chilled out it was great - except for when DS hid from me and I started panicking the little sh*t!!!! My heart was pounding when I eventually found him.

Jbells - sorry I was not on-line yesterday, I hope you had a great birthday? After DS goes to bed tonight I am going to try have a conversation with DH and let him know who shit he makes me feel when he says things without thinking, but also to suggest a truce for now, this baby needs to be the focus. Will check my e-mail to see if you have PM'd

My best friend from the UK arrives for a visit on Wed, I am so excited to see her. She will be bringing me Greens and Black chocolate as well as Neurofen sachets - the things you miss!!!!!

Loopy I got up for a wee break and started Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire sat down to read it on the sofa and when DH got up at 9am and I was flat out so he left me there and woke me up for dinner at him Mums at 2pm!

Crazydays I agree with Bizzeebee I think twins would send me over the edge as well! When I lived in Crete I would Moonpig cards over to my friends as it was the easiest/cheapest way to send the cards and you can set up little reminders to send them!

I got the sprung mattress from Ikea as it was only a fiver more expensive than the foam one so thought it was a good buy.

pistachio I know what you mean I am constantly eating now after doing so well I expect to be huge soon!

Had a lovely lunch with MIL and we all made an extra effort with BIL not being there and was really fun, and she bought me a Mother to Be card today so thought it was really nice. Looking forward to all of us going away for the weekend to a wedding in Penzance in 2 weeks time so I am feeling so so much more positive than I have for a while!

jbells · 03/04/2011 19:53

Evening all just popping in quick to say i hope everyone has had a good day. Will catch up with the news tomoro.

Perpetuallypregnant · 04/04/2011 01:24

Hi, just thought I'd pop my head in as I fell asleep at 8pm after a long day at dancing comp and now can't get back to sleep grrrr.

Feeling a lot better, I can't eat very much at all, in fact I have put on 9lb this whole pregnancy as food just is not my friend :(. I usually pit on about 3 stone easily!

Hope everyone had a lovely mothers day today. I sort of had mine yesterday as knew I'd be out today. Dd1 went shopping with her friends and came home with a giant card and some thorn tons chocs for me. She was so excited as it's the first time shes actually been out and got me something herself (she'll be13 in july and has just discovered the freedom of buses and town trips wih friends). She's such a sweetheart.

Dd1 got me some flowers and chocs (from dh) but she made me a card from school that said
'you are the best mammy in the world and I love you and I promise I will eat all my fruit and vegetables today'

Haha she cracks me up.

Been watching dd2 and dd3 playing tonight and I'm quite excited that there will soon be another addition to join in. The baby just follows dd2 around like a shadow, she adores her so much and vice versa. Theres something special about your dcs playing together and enjoying each other that makes you go all warm and fuzzy :)

Xxx

Morning all.

relationships bah humbug! Dh announced to me last week that he feels stressed and can feel his anxiety coming back
(he had to have 9 weeks off work 2 years ago due to stress and he took a 8k paycut and a demotion to help cut the stress and then when i was about 9 weeks pregnant we were going to split but decided to battle on)
NOW i appreciate him telling me he feels anxious BUT honestly what does he expect me to do? Im 4 weeks away from having a CS and really cannot carry his arse too! LOL (SELFISH? ME?) anyway i basically told him this and said that i will support him but i cannot carry him and if he wants to wallow in self pity rather than be pro active and get it sorterd before it gets really bad then i cannot guarentee i can cope with that! Does that sound harsh?????
He has this rosy view that once May gets here and he has 3 weeks off at home with the baby that things will be fine BUT i think he has forgotten we will both be knackered with new baby and I will be stressed as have exam due by 21st May and wont be able to do much due to CS!

Mothers day was OK, Dh was working all day but my DCs were good and my baby sister made a lovely roast and made me put my feet up so it wasnt all bad. Dh did get me some chocs and olly murs album on friday night at shopping and my babies made me a necklace and some flowers at school so i was happy. Still think it shouldnt take a commercialised day for appreciation of all we do as mothers but one day is better than none (even forced!) TBH mothers day doesnt seem as important since my mum passed away in 2005 but i did enjoy spoiling my MIL this year and she really appreciated it too.

Growth scan tomorrow and fingers crossed we will get the date for the CS too......am gonna push for 6th May or earlier if he has had a growth spurt like i suspect but think they will insist on 9th May! Just hope the physio has written to maternity and told them how much my body is suffering!

Had a little worry yesterday. Was sat at sisters table eating a yummy roast and had an almighty pain in tummy, very low down, i dropped my cutlary and just doubled up.....managed to get to toilet after it had calmed a little and i had (TMI ALERT) very think yucky discharge......sister (mother of 5) announced she thought it may have been the plug and the pain was probably baby having a HUGE stretch and kick and pushing into pelvis. I came home and had a bath and laid in bed and have had nothing else since and a happy baby who had hiccups at 5am this morning!!!!

Am sat indoors waiting for the new car today to be delivered. fingers crossed they ring soon because im very inpatient! LOL

ilovemydogandMrObama · 04/04/2011 10:24

bonkerz you tend to forget what hard work newborns are, but they do sleep, and are soooo portable! Sounds as if you and your DH could do with a break/holiday.

DD (4) has this last week of school, and then something like 2 weeks off, goes back for 2 days, Royal wedding, then the next week an inset day and then polling day at her school, so closed. It's going to be a loooong April.

Was really sick last night, but then thought about it and hadn't eaten all day. Can't remember how that happened, but then had some Mother's Day chocolate and was violently ill. Think it was rich chocolate on an empty stomach?

Does anyone else have an evening/night mover? She's running out of room, so seems to wait for aerobatics until the other DCs are in bed and does her moves.

Off to get some stretch mark oil. heard that the last month is when there's more of a risk of getting stretch marks. Heard Weleda have a good pregnancy one....

ilmd my baby is a little horror for moving during the night. She gets really rough too whereas during the day the movements are more gentle. Think shes going to be nocturnal - uh oh!

loopy dancing comp was ok, dd1 been dancing for 5 years now and usually at least one a month so they do get a bit boring. Some are miles away but luckily this one was only 10 mins away from home so I nipped home in the middle of the day for a couple of hours and left her to it. Obv her dance teacher was there and the other mams so she was fine. She got knocked out in the semis so I didn't miss her dance.

Dd2 has decided she is poorly today and since dd3 and I have both had a bad stomach bug I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt Hmm little terror seems fine now so I suspect she was laying it on. Still shes keeping dd3 happy playing whilst I mn do housework.

Perpetuallypregnant · 04/04/2011 13:56

Oh and re holidays. Ds and dd2 still have another 2 weeks left at school then they get 2 weeks off. Dd1 has this week left then off for 3 weeks but she's at an inde school and they always have stupid holidays.

cowboylover · 04/04/2011 15:39

bonkerz I hope your ok, that does not sound nice. Let us know how you get on today.

School holidays confuse me with different school in England and Wales having different time off, can never keep track of where my cousins are!

DH is off work till Thursday so so be nice to have some company and he said he didn't realise how much I have slowed down in the last week when he's been at work so fingers crossed he will be more understanding now. He's gone up town and wouldn't let me go too so presuming it's because it's our wedding anniversary tomorrow!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 04/04/2011 16:24

pistachio you win Grin

perpetually think you're right about the movements in the womb being an indicator of their activities when born. Both DCs were quite active in the evenings, and were born in the evening, and still quite awake in the evening. May need to re think that nursery place for DS as I requested mornings. The nursery school and the primary school are right next door to each other, so had this idea a morning session would be idea, but not sure now....

The sooner DS (3) goes to nursery, the better. He managed to empty a kilo bag of flour on the kitchen floor Shock. Managed to vacuum it up, but it's in the crevices of everything still.

JBrd · 04/04/2011 17:04

35 weeks today - been having new sort of 'twinges' since yesterday that I haven't had before... Very much at the bottom of my bump, fairly sharp pains, but very irregular, a bit like bad period cramping (fresh from my NCT class, this is why I have alarm bells going off!). Baby moving quite a lot, so maybe it's just lowering itself into my pelvis and starting to get ready? No other symptons/signs, though.
Got another scan tomorrow, hopefully they might be able to shed some light on it!
But some cheap buttoned PJs at TK Maxx today, as well as big knickers from M&S, so now have everything for the hospital bag!

omnomnomtom · 04/04/2011 17:14

JBells, Qwerty, Bonkerz and anyone else having relationship probs, hope things improve for you all soon- try and put yourself first and get as much support from friends as you can

Am very impressed with all the shopping/ decorating etc that has been going on on the thread- nothing doing here! The nesting thing just doesn't happen for me- think I am just too lazy. Do need to get DP to get baby clothes out of the loft though...

There seems to be several of us with a 2 year age gap- DS is very clingy so am sure he will find it hard- he is interested in babies though so am hoping it will be exciting for him. He is far too young to understand that he has a baby bro on the way- if you ask him where his baby brother is he lifts up his top and points at his stomach! He has definitely noticed my changing shape though- and pokes and prods my belly.

VicBic you are prob feeling a bit bored in hospital but will all be worth it in the end- fingers crossed you get as close to your due date as poss.

I am thoroughly fed up as have D+V- DS had a much milder version over the weekend and I came down with it at 3am- feel awful and have been advised by CMW to go to GP if it doesn't clear up in 24hrs.

Sorry not to do a bumper NC but have spent about an hour catching up and can't face skimming back to see who said what!

jbells · 04/04/2011 18:16

brillopads · 04/04/2011 21:50

Hooray I was watching the University Challenge final tonight & answered one of the questions:

what mammalian hormone is causes contractions of the uterus in labour & is released during BFing ? OXYTOCIN! LOL none of the team (all males) knew !!

MW appt tomorrow for me- means I get to leave work early Smile no concerns, apart from a cough & snotty nose for over a week which no Doctor in the world has a cure for, blah. Sometimes coughing really hurts up under my ribs

ilovemydog oh noes, I was feeling more than a little pleased by my (from what I can tell) lack of stretch marks so far... MW will probably measure my bump tomorrow & I'll be covered !

I'm pleased that there are more episodes on OBEM on still (repeats, but before I was pg it'd probably have been the last thing I'd have wanted to watch)

How on earth are you all doing so much?!! Looking after DCs, going to shows, being ill... I'm exhausted just reading about it!
Loopy - nope i haven't bought everything i need... In fact have had constant arguments with Dpi as.didn't want to buy anything until the last minute as didn't want to tempt fate whereas he is a complete shopaholic and has been chomping at the bit to buy things!
Serves me.right that he.is now taking it upon himself to go.shopping (with my credit card!)...
Omno - yep definitely bored, but i know you're right and it's all worth it in the end! Have one of those tv/phone things in my room and found myself watching Obem earlier - why?!!!!! I am in a maternity ward!!! All i needed to do was open the door rather than watch it.on tv!

cowboylover · 05/04/2011 00:07

No streach marks yet? Envy But whole tummy now resembles a rather scary red spider web of marks! My mum had loads as well with me so maybe some truth in the fact they are herditory.

perpetually My little lady doesnt start til midnight then is crazy for a few hours then again at around 4pm in the afternoon so I hope thats not a sign of things to come, Same time as I used to get my worst sickness as well! [h mm]

Brillo I didnt know they were repeats ut before being pregnant I no way would have watched it so all good for me!

Vicbic Mad aint it?! Always better on TV tho, I started watching Holby City when in hospital and someone on it was having the same Op as me the next day!

DH kept asking what was the matter with Sam and why was she freaking out so much; I told him it was because her DP was not giving her enough cuddles and chocolate so I hope I planted the seeds of a plan in his head. We have our 1st ante-natal class on Thursday night so I am looking forward to it.

:( and Angry

I had a mini pregnancy hormone induced meltdown at work yesterday. I called the hospital to double check my mid-wife appointment tomorrow morning, and discovered that they have no more appointments booked for me (2 mid wife and 1 anesthetists) and cannot explain why, despite it all being booked at the end of last year when I registered with the hospital. Big Angry is this now means I do not have an appointment in time where I can get the necessary medical certificate to delay the start of my maternity leave. So I now have three days left at work Shock. I know that I might have been refused to delay the start of maternity leave on health grounds but feeling very Angry it's due to appointments mysteriously disappearing.

Other Angry is that a couple of the replacement appointments I have been given are in the middle of the afternoon instead of the early morning I had originally booked that meant DH could take me and then go to work without missing much time.

Hoping that maybe something was mis-understood on phone yesterday and going to get a native French speaker to call up for me today to double check that they really have lost my appointments.

DH was brilliant though and when I called him upset yesterday walked out of his meeting to come and collect me from work and take me home. :)
