Bonkerz · 05/04/2011 08:31

LOOPY do you read our posts with a notebook and pen next to you? I cannot belive that you can remember all that stuff!!!! (I must admit i used to be a prolific poster when i was pregnant with DD 5 years ago and actually printed off the threads not so long ago and put them in DDs baby box and have been referring to them all the way through this pregnancy, but with everything going on this time i just dont have the time/memory etc to do it all again!) apologies! LOL

OMG BIzzee that is awful. I only have todays appointment at hospital though and one midwife and one physio till baby comes.......eeeeeeeeek that seems weird!

Am off to consultant at 1:30 for growth scan and date.......they HAVE to give me my date......they just have to! Im gonna push for earlier and may have to break down a little and beg although not on my knees! LOL they will have me down as MAD WOMAN when im done LOL Am taking MIL for support as DH is having to pick kids up from school!
Car wasnt delivered yesterday.......was a pregnant mess when i rang them! think i actually scared the bloke on the phone as i made some quite unreasonable demands (ie more cash and compensation plus full tank of diesel AND delivery to my home) and he agreed! Dh actually said he was impressed but said (as a retail manager) he would hate to have me come in his shop to complain! LOL Anyway upshot is that we now have a better deal as we reckon this mistake has cost the garage over £200 MORE plus labour costs so our little multipla is a real bargain! Car to be delivered by close of buisness Wednesday or i have told them they better have £1700 (that includes the extra we didnt pay! LOL) in cash by 5pm for me to collect and they can keep the sodding car!

Am getting a cheese grater feeling in my back since yesterday and suspect Maxwell has slipped round back to back so will be spending some time on all fours later i think!
As for DH, he had a day off yesterday and set about cleaning the house and buying me flowers and seemed ok BUT he knows how i feel and i cant do anymore than that!

Will report back later hopefully with my sons birth date! :0)

QwertyQueen · 05/04/2011 09:57

Bending down to get something off the floor is so hard!!! :(
Do you think we squash the babies and hurt them when we do this?!?!
I am going for my hospital tour tomorrow, and then another gynae appt with scan on Thursday - it is getting expensive....

Ds was up a couple of times last night with a headache and fever and asking for water / milk / juice etc... I was wandering around like a zombie bumping into things getting it for him. It made me remember what a newborn is like Shock

Have a playdate at the park with a couple of moms in a bit - going to hit the cafe for a strong coffee to keep me going.

Have read all your posts but forgotten who said what, sorry.... another one who is not as sorted as Loopy!

QwertyQueen · 05/04/2011 09:58

ps: Well done, bonkerz! Hope the car arrives tho

juneau · 05/04/2011 10:00

Went to my childbirth refresher class yesterday for second and found it reassuring in ways I hadn't expected. The midwife divided us up into groups and the first thing she asked us to do was think of three things we're looking forward to about having our second child and we all just sat there and looked at each other. Eventually, one woman said she was looking forward to giving up work. Then another said she was looking forward to not having constant indigestion. It made me feel soooo much better that I'm not the only one feeling ambivalent. The whole way through so far I've been beating myself up for not being excited in the same way I was with my first.

Perpetuallypregnant · 05/04/2011 12:21

All of these classes sound great. Can I admit that in 5 pregnancies I have never been to a single antenatal class? Blush I was only 15/16 when I was pregnant with ds and they didn't have much around for young parents (15 years ago!) like they do now and I felt far too intimidated to go. In subsequent pregnancies I didn't feel I needed to really as I'd already been there done that.

Ds is actually doing 2 gcses this year (year 10) as they spread them out a bit more now. It freaks me out that my pfb will be leaving school next year! Well I say leaving... Over my dead body is he not going to sixth form :o but old enough to leave anyway. He's lovely... Boys are no bother....

Pregnancy wise, I threw up my only solid meal of the day yesterday. I'm really struggling to eat and seem to be living on frijj milkshakes which bizarrely make me feel better. Still, I usually put on about 3 stone in pregnancy and have only managed 9lb this time so its not all bad.

Do we all have names? I'm really really struggling. Ive posted on the baby names forum a few times but I'm no further forward. I just can't seem to find 'the one'. Its getting me stressed now as I can imagine my poor baby with no name until she's 6 weeks old then some make do name as we had to pick something.:(

Rollercoasteryears · 05/04/2011 14:59

juneau I think we were at the same refresher class yesterday - was it at a children's centre in Watford by any chance...?!

Bonkerz · 05/04/2011 17:52

well i have my date.......TUESDAY 10TH MAY........

Max is HUGE! estimated weight (pinch of salt!) right now is 6lb 7oz and he has shot from 75th to 90th centile so is a good size, all his measurements
femur length: 66
waist: 224
head: 222
so quite impressive!

All ok, blood pressure a little high as per usual but not worrying yet!

BizzeeBee · 05/04/2011 18:26

:) :) :)

It turns out that the pregnancy hormone induced mini-meltdown yesterday over my missing appoints was unnecessary. A French friend to call the hospital and they DO have my appointments, but spelled with one letter wrong in my surname, which is why the receptionist yesterday didn't find it. Goodness knows why when she looked at the slot I thought my appointment was she couldn't work out that with just one letter incorrect that it was my appointment. Will sort everything out face-to-face at the hospital tomorrow morning. What a relief!

Bonkerz I'm very happy for you that you have a date. :)

juneau · 05/04/2011 21:25

Yes LOL!

omnomnomtom · 05/04/2011 21:50

Bonkerz 10th of May is SOON- how exciting! Also 'you go girl' (in a ricki lake/cheerleader style voice) on the complaining about the car- very assertive and good result!

BizzeeBee Glad your appointments are sorted out- glad you found out quickly and weren't stressing for days

D+V has thankfully cleared up but am feeling nauseous still so think it has triggered yet more morning sickness, and I've pulled muscles in my stomach being sick- still only 3 weeks left at work. I loved my mat leave last time, I've honestly never felt happier so am really looking forward to being off again and spending time with my boys Grin I work 4 days a week and we need to do our sums as I'd like to only go back 3 days a week after mat leave- think it might work out better financially or at least not much different to work less because nursery is so expensive

PerpetuallyPg I'll have to try Frijj milkshakes, I've had a lot of nausea/vomiting in this pregnancy and find that I fancy milk more when I'm ill, and I went through a phase of buying Tesco banana milk when I felt sick so maybe Frijj will be a magic cure for me. I like the names you are thinking of on the babynames thread btw.

VicBic it made me smile that you were watching OBEM on the maternity ward- must have been a bit surreal

Right night all- bed and book for me x

Bonkerz You just gotta lay down the line for the DP/DH's honestly. You told him you are there for him but he must be pro-active because anxiety is a funny emotion and I swear, is easily picked up by those closest to you and then it just gets worse for everyone. Yeah for date too. That must be a relief. And the car... ah... a man that knows not to contend with a pregnant woman. Must thank his mum and DW. Grin

Jbrd Braxton Hicks shouldn't hurt though; more likely just engaging and hitting sensitive spots inside. I've been getting them too. Round ligaments pains too. If you start getting pain in your back, call the MW Grin

Jbells My first pregnancy I caught a bizarre chest infection and couldn't shake it. The only good that came of it was DD came at 37 weeks after a trip to Ikea, of all places. lol. As soon as I gave birth, the infection cleared up in three days. Hmm

BizzeeBee Yeah for DH. So nice of him to come get you. Hopefully the admin stuff is just a misunderstanding... just read that it was. Grin

Querty "Bending down to get something off the floor is so hard!!! " Indeed! Grin I usually sit in the corner of the sectional on the couch and it is such a production getting out. I have to pre-plan before sitting down to be sure I have everything and hope to god that DD doesn't need me to get up. lol

juneau I feel very ambivalent too. Although last night when DH and I were trying to relax on the couch after dinner and before DD's bathtime, she was climbing all over us and chatty and although its sweet, I said, 'Good grief, you need a sibling.' Grin

Perpetually We haven't done any classes either except an acupressure for labour class which I swear helped immensely. With DD we were having a private birthing class with a doula, (costs the same as going to the class, minus the refreshments), but DD came the night before. lol. Haven't done any with this one either. Like I said, very ambivalent with being pregnant this time around.

All I want to do is eat cookies, and the Girl Guide's are EVERYWHERE selling them. Its surprising I haven't gained that much weight TBH.

I am 31 at 31 weeks in belly size. Baby couldn't be more head down in my pelvis. I knew exactly when he moved in as well and his bottom is sticking out on the right a bit and his toes are curled around my rib cage, swinging about. He never stops moving. Probably all the damn cookies. Grin

Waves to everyone. Hope the mid week is treating everyone well.

brillopads · 05/04/2011 22:28

MW appt this afternoon (34 weeks tomorrow), she reckons baby is not growing enough so I've got a growth scan @ 15th April, 9.30am - my last day in work! So I suppose I'll have to go in afterwards, I mean when are they going to give me my presents otherwise LOL Was trying to arrange a leaving lunch for myself, all the girls seem to have replied with a 'Yes' to my email, but the guys are playing it cool. Perhaps I should have said "it won't all be talk about booties & changing bags"

Not too concerned about the supposed lack of growth, not v.convinced about the reliability of a different person everytime mucking about with a tape measure. Plus I'm petite, so don't really expect that baby will be a whopper, and a scan means I get to see 'Funnybones' again Smile

loopy sorry to hear about stress re your wish for a homebirth
bonkerz good work re the car! I really feel that I'm not exploiting my 'condition' often enough Wink

pissovski · 05/04/2011 22:33

Good news Bizzee and Bonkerz - roll on the 10th!!

I am having a very busy week this week - been Little Miss Chaffeur for MIL and SIL yesterday and today (drs appts), as well as checking out flooring and tiles for new kitchen (yesterday) and visiting friend this pm. Tomorrow is 36 week appt, and ante natal class (1st of 4) and then the weekend is visiting other SIL (about 5 hour drive away - dh doing the driving!) to help her move some furniture!

Think i need a lie down just thinking about it!

GotArt · 05/04/2011 22:34

Loopy That's awful about the whole MW situation. Here thankfully, you sign yourself up with one and that's who you get throughout the whole pregnancy. It would have to be some pretty crazy circumstances not to have mine when I went into labour. We are having a home birth too. Doctor wasn't happy with my choice, saying that at 38 I should think about a hospital birth but MW has been delivering babies for 20 years and says its fine. You know far enough in advance if you need to visit the hospital. Plus, she delivered my first and it was very easy, an hour of thinking it was BH and ingestion from the curry to realizing, no, I am in labour. (Water broke on ferry coming back from Vancouver, but I thought I just wet myself..lol)

ilovemydogandMrObama · 06/04/2011 11:58

gotart ooh, where on the ferry? Have family in the San Juan islands Smile.

brillo we are exactly the same re: dates. I am 34 weeks today also!

loopy have you asked why the community m/w is in disagreement with the consultant?

had a lovely evening last night. DH put the DCs to bed, made dinner and then did the school run this morning and even took DS (3) so I could have a lie in Smile. Total brownie points! Am still in quite a lot of pain, so have a massage booked for tomorrow.

runningmonkey · 06/04/2011 12:01

Woo hoo! First day of mat leave and sun is shining :o Have already been into town and bought Dh a birthday pressie (not until Easter weekend but thought I should be prepared!) and found myself some cheap Birkenstocks for me and some new hooded towels for the new baby in tk maxx (neither really needed but I felt the need to buy the baby something!) :o Now sitting with a cuppa in front of the open french doors, looking at the washing blowing in the breeze and am going to attempt a proper catch up as you lot have been v chatty since I was last on!

Hope everyone had lovely Mother's days. I remember when pg with DD and last year that DH didn't buy me anything or generally make a fuss and I got v hormonal! We were staying at friends on Sat night and on Sun morning when I got out of the shower there was a lovely card, some Lush smellies (my favourite) and he had taught DD to say happy mothers day so I think he has made up for the last two :)

qwerty, jbells and bonkerz really sorry to hear you are having rel'ship troubles. As other have said, pg is hard on relationships and I hope that things get better for you both soon.

vicbic hope you are doing ok. I also chuckled at the thought of you watching OBEM in the maternity ward :)

crazy yep with you on the lack of sleep front - try to get as much as you can as and when now (can't remember will, the dt's be your first?)

cowboy hope you had a lovely anniversary yesterday

jBrd hope the twinges subsided. I've had a few of those and woke last night to one almighty twinge - a proper squeeze from the top to bottom of my bump that lasted about 3 mins. Had to get up on all fours and breathe through it and REALLY panicked DH! Nothing since though.

omnom so sorry to hear your poorly and still being sick. Hope it eases. Am sure you've tried everything but peppermint tea seems to help me with nausea so might be worth a shot if you can.

brillo I always feel dead proud of myself when I can answer a question on Uni Challenge - my brother and I always text each other with how many we got right . Unfortunately he usually beats me!

bizzee glad your appointment confusion got sorted!

bonkerz yay for a date!

loopy I am sorry you are feeling so stressed. I don't feel I can offer any sensible advice or suggestions. iirc your consultant was supportive of your plans so maybe you could get him/her to write you something to back you up with the crappy midwives?

Right that's me done I think - going to press post before the laptop dies! Hello to anyone I've missed :)

juneau · 06/04/2011 15:31

34 weeks and I need to whinge.

NOTHING FITS. My bras are leaving welts under my boobs, I'm all bump so my tops ride up and my bottoms fall down and I'm left with an attractive expanse of flesh in between, all my trousers are too tight, and I just feel fat.

MY ALLERGIES ARE TERRIBLE. My nose is itchy and streaming and my eyes are so itchy I can't wear my contacts and it's a really sunny day.

MY 3-YEAR-OLD IS DRIVING ME NUTS. I don't think this one needs further explanation.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 06/04/2011 15:52

just had a midwife appointment, BP fine, iron levels fine, GT test results "within normal range", nothing detected in the water sample... very different to how I was around this time with DD!
Baby head down (woohoo)
Am measuring bigger than expected, only by two weeks though so they are not too concerned yet.
Seeing the consultant on the 18th and midwife on the 20th.
Am fricking huge. If I drop something on the floor, it stays there unles DD can pick it up Grin

GotArt · 06/04/2011 16:44

Ilovemydog San Juan Islands. Nice. We are in Victoria. The only islands we've been to is Saltspring and Pender. When we get off the Rock, we tend to go to Vancouver. Only been to Seattle once in 15 years of living out here!

RunningMonkey Sounds like DH indeed racked up some brownie points. Grin DH brought home some LUSH bath bombs for me last night. I love them. I woke up this morning and first thought was that I couldn't wait till tonight for a bath. Grin

juneau Grin at attractive expanse of flesh... funny visual, really, it is. (hugs) Allergies. Argh! 3 year old. Double argh. Whinge away.

Elf I'm surprised no one has marketed one of those trash picking up tools for pregnant ladies.

Off to dance class this morning, inasmuch as 2 years 'dance'. lol
Have a lovely day.

JBrd · 06/04/2011 19:09

Thanks all for your encouragement and concerns! Have had no more of those strange twinges since Monday, so it probably was baby bearing down/ligaments stretching etc.
Had a scan yesterday, baby is in good position, head down and back towards my left - so all it needs to do is a quarter turn, and we're ready to go! Grin

Lovely weather here today! Went to IKEA with my mum today, bought a changing table and lots of other bits and pieces, and then we spent the afternoon in the garden, cutting the grass and planting lots of stuff into pots. I just hope I'll be able to stay on top of the gardening once baby is here... I'm shattered now and can barely walk, but it feels nice to have done all that. Might have a go starting to pack my hospital bag, but maybe I'll leave that until tomorrow or the weekend and have a nice bath instead... Which might put me straight to sleep!

GotArt · 06/04/2011 20:45

I vote a very loud resounding YES to bath! The best thing I think about having DC's at this time of the year is being able to get outside, even for a nap. You should do just fine keeping up with the gardening... although, I'd employ a neighbours kid to cut the grass if DH isn't up to it. DH and I looked at a house in January where the owner hated cutting grass so had fake stuff installed. Hmm Hilarious though. I looked and felt like the real thing, but a wee bit bizarre too to go so far as put in fake grass... I would've went with a rock garden, path, potted plant ensemble. lol

omnomnomtom · 06/04/2011 21:40

GotArt am imagining a lawn of that fake grass they always used to have in greengrocers!
JBrd sounds like a busy day- IKEA have some nice kids bits and bobs don't they? Did you manage to resist the cute cuddly toys they do?
Loopy sorry you aren't getting the support of your MW, that sucks- has the consultant recorded in your notes that she has discussed and agreed to a HB? Hope you are feeling less stressed today
Running Glad you had a fab mothers day- I do love a Lush bathbomb the butterball ones are amazing
Juneau I feel your pain- my bras are so uncomfortable I whip 'em off as soon as I get through the front door at the end of the day. At least we don't have too much longer to go... and that reminds me I need to get measured for a nursing bra soon, anyone been fitted at John Lewis? Any good? I got my maternity bras at M&S this time and am not too impressed with them. Mind you may do what I did last time and get measured in a shop then go online and order lovely nonfrumpy hotmilk nursing bras- they were def the most comfortable nursing bras I owned

Bit of a rubbish day at work- felt yucky but have booked a bit of annual leave and now only have 7 actual days left although my last day is the 21st. And my friends at work are talking me into having a leaving do which is something to look forward to.

Anyone else a bit sweaty? I have been feeling rather warm, last night I had a sweaty bump- 'tis most ladylike Grin must be the hormones

cowboylover · 06/04/2011 22:29

Bonkerz I'm very happy for you that you have a date and what a successful couple of days you have had! Good news on the car and that a date has been set, ohh so exciting Grin

Bizzie Glad they have got it sorted for you, bet it was stressful!

Perpetually Love Frijj milkshakes! On offer in Asda for 50p as well last time I went in so enjoy all. I find the name board a little scary! Just looked and I like Elizabeth and Francesca from your list.

Brillo Good that you can see the positive side of it! I love seeing her in the scans as she looks so different!

Elf Is it just me noticing or do you actually drop more when pregnant? I leave a little trail around the house until DH is home or Mum comes over.On the hormonal from I cried when I dropped my car keys when out as I just knew I had to pick them up Blush

omnomnomtom I find myself constantly warm! I am glad the weather is warming up as its not just me in a tent maxi dress and Birkenstocks!

We had a fantastic wedding anniversary and got on well together so fun just to chill out. Didnt realise how much I have been trying to ram in our days together so no military planning just lay around the house watching films until we went out for a meal and DH was cute after a bottle of wine talking to bump Smile

Midwife in the afternoon then Antenatal so probably catch up on Friday x

GotArt · 07/04/2011 00:57

Hot Milk nursing bras are great. That's what I use. Love them.
