ledkr · 21/03/2011 10:39

delia there is an nhs advert on the mn home page re baby blues

knittakid · 21/03/2011 10:43

still haven't got time to read all posts. profile should now be public.
how do you do this with more than one child??????

EauRouge · 21/03/2011 11:10

Oh, he's so cute! And you look very happy Grin

How do you do this with more than one child? CBeebies and sugar-based bribery Wink

Oneof4 · 21/03/2011 11:16

Wow Knitta - he's got so much hair! Loving the sling too.

wigglesrock · 21/03/2011 11:23

eaurouge can I add guilt fuelled trips to Tesco toy aisles Smile Although I'm very lucky my two have cheap tastes so at the minute buying in bulk at Poundland and bringing out treats when it all gets a little too screechy!!! CBeebies is the greatest invention ever, everytime I grr at paying the license fee I think of Justin, Chris and Sid and I would gladly pay double!!

Ledkr Hopefully your dh will be able to get "family friendly" shifts, I sometimes think you can forget what a worrying and difficult time you and D had when she was born, the in and out of hospital, difficulty feeding (both you and her Grin), the inlaws, the bleeding etc, you need to be easier on yourself, Ella will be fine, maybe some of your friends can help out, give you a break - not to clean, do housework etc but to rest, read a trashy magazine etc, nosy at sleb gossip sites!!

Deliaskis Thinking of you, hope you get the support you need, keep posting if you can, even a quick line, might help to get some of your thoughts on paper so to speak.

wigglesrock · 21/03/2011 11:27

Knitta he's absolutely gorgeous, dd1 had hair like that when she was born, had to take her for a haircut at a ridiculously early age!! Mr Wiggles had attempted to trim it himself Hmm, emergency trip to hairdresser needed!!

40Weeks · 21/03/2011 11:44

Oh knitta he is adorable! I should try and upload some of Mikey...

WanderingSheep · 21/03/2011 11:46

Oh Knitta he's gorgeous! Grin Look at all that hair! He suits his name doesn't he?

Delia sorry to read about your PND diagnosis, although I'm a bit Hmm at the doctor. Did they just give you a prescription without discussing any alternatives? That's not very supportive. My doctor put me on Citalopram just under two years ago, with hindsight I think I had undiagnosed PND from DD1 but she was about 20 months old when I saw the dr but she discussed counselling and other alternatives too. TBH, the medication really helped but not everybody likes going down that road! My friend has been suffering from PND recently and she's had lots of support from our doctor (she goes to the same as me). She's had counselling and lots of help from our HV too and she seems to have really come through it!

40Weeks · 21/03/2011 11:54

Thats good advice wandering - GPs can be a bit scrip happy sometimes without a actually getting to the roue of the issue.

Have uploaded a picture of my angel. Dont be misled by peaceful sleeping photo!

WanderingSheep · 21/03/2011 11:56

Oh yes and second what EauRouge said about Cbeebies and sugar based bribery! Lol. I have such respect for people who have twins, triplets etc. Two newborns crying at the same time or even alternately must keep you busy put it that way!

I can't believe it's nearly lunch time Shock. I haven't done anything! DD2 is going through a Whingy stage too and just wants to be held during the day. She sleeps fine at night though but won't let me get on with anything during the day!

Deliaskis · 21/03/2011 12:02

Thanks for your thoughts ladies. I think the reason I am hesitant re the meds is that it's minimum 6 month course (in my head, am replacing 'course' with 'sentence') and I wonder if this might sort itself out in a few weeks, but I just don't know.

D

WanderingSheep · 21/03/2011 12:03

40 he's lovely! Smile You're right, he looks so angelic!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 21/03/2011 12:05

oh knitta he is absolutely beautiful! Smile you look really well too (realise that photos don't tell the whole story though Wink)

40 Mikey looks like butter wouldn't melt, why can't they be like this all the time???

I think Ben is one of the most photographed babies ever due to being first grandchild and my mum and her new camera! One thing is that he seems to put on a show of being so well behaved in public but it ends when we get home. I fed him for 2 hours yesterday...... he's insatiable sometimes.

delia it's good that you felt up to posting, I think the mn mantra is 'this will pass' and it's good to remember when everything seems too much. I hope the tablets take affect soon.

Had to let you know my new method of cleaning up after oh; I now take his dirty clothes and pile them on top of his wardrobe and anything else he leaves lying around I put on 'his' chair in the living room Grin It's now a lot easier and quicker to clean the place! Not sure just how big the argument is going to be later though....Hmm

Hope everyone gets to enjoy the sun today Smile

40Weeks · 21/03/2011 12:11

Good idea Needto - let me know how it goes!

As I was reading your lovely posts he filled his nappy wit a very loud squelch! Its still going. Ah the joys...

wigglesrock · 21/03/2011 12:17

40weeks He's just yummy!!

WanderingSheep · 21/03/2011 12:20

I've been following Wiggles and Bensmum's advice on cleaning and just keeping the bathroom and kitchen clean - not working today as there's a pile of washing up in the sink but it's been quite a help. The living room gets a quick Hoover and dust but I haven't mopped the floor in a while Blush. Any spills or marks get wiped with a baby wipe and voilà - floor looks clean!

DD1 has gone back to bed saying she has a headache Sad hope she's not coming down with something.

Right, washing up beckons as DD2 is dozing in her chair and it might not be for long!

Bensmum76 · 21/03/2011 12:27

Delia, I'm sorry your feeling low. I am the same at the moment, but m getting o much support from my doctor and health visitor. You deserve the same support. Have you spoken to your hv about how your feeling?
Also, I tend to look at the mental health section of mums net, loads of good stuff on there.
I think we will all have good and days and that it's when the bad days are more often than the good days that you know something isn't right.

Bensmum76 · 21/03/2011 12:32

40 weeks, adorable photo and looking so peaceful. Knitta, he has so much hair! Gorgeous!

wigglesrock · 21/03/2011 13:22

Just want to second/recommend the mental health section of Mumsnet, lots of support, people who have been there etc. I suffered from depression 9 years ago (can't believe its been that long) , had to leave my job, suffered from anxiety, couldn't /wouldn't go out, couldn't be arsed doing anything. Took 2 years but came out the other side. I have been very, very, very lucky and it hasn't come back since, of course I am now well attuned to the early warning signs and can act accordingly. I always worry especially after the kids births but touch wood, cross fingers etc have escaped it so far. We are all here for each other and anyone who is feeling low, just not "at yourself" etc, just post, rant, ask for help, we will support you, if that doesn't sound to cringey, arsey!!

Anyhoo wandering sheep glad you have embraced the wonder of cleaning with baby wipes - best make-up remover ever, also fab at removing felt tip pen marks from walls Wink

Deliaskis · 21/03/2011 13:58

Aha, mental health, that seems to be the place to look. I thought it couldn't be right that there was nothing in PND!

Thanks for support folks, it really means a lot, especially when I have not been 'there' for anyone else lately.

beabea81 · 21/03/2011 14:35

hi everyone - really sorry to gatecrash your thread but i noticed a few of you had your babies at the new pembury hospital? i'm booked in to have my c-sec there in just under 2 weeks & wondered what your experiences were? as i've heard they are not in a good way down there right now where it's all still getting up & running?

do you have any tips of things i should be prepared for there / take with me? this is my first baby & due to being bedbound with severe spd & a relapse of m.e i'm booked in for the c-sec, which is also v scary as i've never had any kind of surgery before!

thanks

ledkr · 21/03/2011 18:35

bea ill get back to you on the section, ive had 4 now,its fine, ill be back when my dd is in bed!

slowangels1 · 21/03/2011 18:36

beabea I was at pembury. Haven't got time to write here about it (have a LO just stirring from sleep now) but pm me if you want to chat about it.

d glad you found mental health threads - I've been thinking of you and kept meaning to ask on the thread how you were but kept forgetting getting sidetracked.

anyone else being very good and only using cotton wool and water when cleaning dirty nappy bottoms or is it just me? I long for the ease of baby wipes!!
