hi all,how lovely to wake up to some nice messages Smile
she slept until 8am from about 10 so we had a lovely uninterupted sleep,i am sending Ella in an hr late as she was so late to bed.D seems fine this morning tho,dh is feeding her at the mo but everytime i speak she stops and looks over,ah=Mummy's girl see.

angelsI think the baby whisperer is less harsh than Hein Ford, who i find a tad cruel. It would be worth you getting it now as its not easy to find time to read these days is it? I got mine from play, used for about 3 quid.
It helped me a lot last week useing the easy routine.
I have had 4 and hopefully 5 good sleepers and i favour the "let them know the difference between night and day" method.
Always put her in her basket in my room after 7,she never sleeps in there in the day, night feeds in dark with no eye contact or nappy change.I must admit i have now included a bath in the evening routine but that is cos she has to have her medicine half an hour away from a milk feed so when i give it her on an empy tummy i need to distract her from wanting a bottle for at least half an hour Hmm

hubbard86 · 05/04/2011 08:32

hi just a quick one to ledkr my friends little boy has a cleft palate and has those little choking bits. She has found that its the medicine stinging his hole and him trying to clear it. especially anything ibuprofen based. I will ask her how she got medicine into him without it hurting. I'm being summoned

ledkr · 05/04/2011 08:33

All those with non daytime sleeping babies i can reccommend the easy method and also the swing,D will have a good sleep in that.I have found last week easier as she is more alert and thus enjoying her toys and the baby channelsurroundings so will sit in her chair for a while. She is now nearly 9 weeks so hang in there.

ledkr · 05/04/2011 08:37

hubbard, thanks thats really ineresting,im scared to give her her regular meds this morning and she is generally ok with those,i would be interested to hear more tho, thanks.

janedoe25 · 05/04/2011 09:31

ledkr sorry to hear about D last night, what a fright you must have got. Well done to Ella for being such a brave star, you must be so proud of her!

As for the weight issue, i have a few tonne pounds to lose if i want to fit into a wedding dress! I am a bit smaller from before i was pregnant,, my pre preg jeans are falling down! probs more to do with the fact i lost my appetite......

It was my dads 70th birthday party at the weekend, one my aunts told me i have lost so much weight, yeah the last time i seen her i was 9 months pregnant Hmm. Think they all forget that because i dont have my baby.

Hope you all have nice day

debka · 05/04/2011 11:18

People can be so insensitive, can't they, jane.

Can heartily recommend the bugger it and run method- S slept for over an hour in her cot this morning using my fully tested method after only 5 mins crying, then we went to sains this morning, she woke up when we got in, but I decided I Am The Boss and it was still sleep time so put her in her cot, wide awake and smiling, she went to sleep without a single cry!! That was almost an hour ago!!! All this time I was pacing and jiggling and dummy-ing and all she wanted was her cot in a quiet dark room!

ledkr glad D is better today.

wigglesrock · 05/04/2011 11:31

Ledkr How scary, glad the three of you are ok and hope dh gives all 3 of his brave girls a big hug and a big glass of wine later, obviously not for Ella or D Grin. Have to run, Anna's done a code brown as they are called in our house!!!

wigglesrock · 05/04/2011 13:35

Back again - inbetween school runs - the highlight of my social life these days Blush. Hope you are having a relaxing afternoon Ledkr. Anna is certainly more alert recently, 7 weeks today!!! She can be kept amused helping me watch E Entertainment BBC News 24. I'll be up for joining "slimming group" (meant to be said in Peter Kay type voice Grin)

Angels Please be careful with your back, when I had car accident a few years ago, physio warned me that reaching into a car seat was singularly the worst thing for your back, that and hoovering Grin Our carseat just clips into base in backseat so not too much reaching but it can be a bit of a bugger fastening the other twos seatbelts, with all 3 seats in the back.

Anna is sleeping from about 8.30pm until 6.30am with one feed inbetween, I do the same as Ledkr, no light, no nappy change, no speaking. The no light can be a bit tricky, spent five minutes the other night trying to put her dummy in her ear and wondering why she wasn't having a quick suck then falling asleep Blush

slowangels1 · 05/04/2011 14:55

I can't think of anything to call our slimming group thread other than 'feb fat fighters' Blush so haven't set up the thread - any suggestions for a title? Hmm

ledkr Shock poor you. I'm so glad D is OK today

jane Shock Shock at weight comments from 'well meaning' people Confused

managed a trip to tesco btw :) hardest bit was not quite knowing what to do when putting the trolley away - do I take LO with me or lock her in the car Hmm . I opted for leaving her in the car and running the trolley back as fast as my chubby legs could carry me. just felt a bit wrong leaving her in there. the back hurts and wiggles think i agree twisting myself to get car seat in and out is not a good thing.

lol at wiggles putting dummy in annas ear - I too admit to having that problem.

re sleep training can i ask a Blush question - do your LOs not go to sleep on their own? alice has always put herself to sleep in her basket/cot Hmm . Don't get me wrong, i don't have the dream child - there are many ocassions when she wants to fall asleep in my arms/wil not be put down/has to fall asleep on me and then be transported to cot etc but there are times when she sorts herself out too - there's just no pattern to guarenteeing when she'll do what, she does often need a dummy to go to sleep though, and also seems to like either the music cot lullaby thingy on or the baby mozart cd we have on to help her drift off.

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 05/04/2011 15:22

angels Sometimes Anna will drift off in her moses basket herself and sometimes she won't, absolutely no rhyme or reason to it, with dd1 we used to put her in her cot, we used to put Moses basket in cot to get her used to it, put her mobile on and by time the first verse of music was over, she would be asleep Grin, she never used a dummy. Don't think I need to document the wasted years time trying to get dd2 to sleep, don't want to put anyone off Grin, Anna seems to have fallen between the two so I'm happy enough with that. Well done on Tescos trip, I leave Anna in car when returning trolley.

Right Mum is coming to babysit tonight, so have to drag a wet wipe round downstairs, make the place at least smell clean, don't get too excited, not off on a night out or anything exciting, off to baptism class with priest, Mr Wiggles is so looking forward to it Hmm, like dealing with a 12 year old sometimes!! He has been really busy at work this week, and has been called in for loads of extra shifts so haven't actually seen him for 3 days!!!

Tarlia · 05/04/2011 15:34

Angels you lucky thing, sounds like you have a good sleeper!

How do you guys manage not to do a nappy change in the night? I have to change at every fed! If he goes longer than about 4 hours I end up with a soggy baby - is this normal? Hmm Tried huggies pampers and libero, now in size 2 but was same problem with size 1!

slowangels1 · 05/04/2011 15:51

tarlia we have same problem here too. I was reading in some baby book or sth that by a month or so often babies only poo once or twice a day to which DH and I had hysterics as we have poo-ey nappy at pretty much every change and have to change her about every 3/4 hrs (sometimes more often if we have an obviously smelly code brown (in the terms of wiggles Wink )). Wonder whether it's just us Hmm

OP posts:
americanexpat · 05/04/2011 15:57

L is a pretty crap sleeper, unless he's sleeping on someone. We're trying to get him to sleep in his cot, went 90 minutes last night but I was holding his hand and replacing the dummy when it fell out of his mouth. I finally gave up when he shot the dummy out of the cot and it rolled underneath. Hmm

HV has just been and L gained 910g in 2.5 weeks, he's now 11 lbs 6 oz at 7 weeks. Shock

Tarlia - I only change his nappy at night if it really smells of urine. We leave the hall light on at night and half close the bedroom door. It gives me enough light to see what I'm doing but apparently not enough light to disturb him.

ledkr · 05/04/2011 15:58

nope Tarlia you just have a widdler im afraid Grin

angels look at you with your perfect baby Envy baby D has never put herself to sleep as with reflux and cleft she cant be led down for at least 30mins so thats my back well and truly rodded for years to come.I must admit now she is sleeping better and less wingey i dont mind,i secretly quite like sitting on the sofa having a cuddle whilst watching the news like wiggles i like to keep a breast of current affairs such as what the kardashians are up to and if Kendra is pregnant again,oh yes and most important to see all the latest fashion blunders with Joan Rivers crucial inputGrin Thats not all i do btw, there have been re runs of the hills this week, fablulous.

Ill start off the food diary-breakfast-bacon egg beans and buttered toast.
Lunch-cheese and onion sandwhich and massive muffin made by dd with loads of pink icing.

slowangels1 · 05/04/2011 16:10

no way I'm showing anyone my food diary for today Blush

ledkr please don't think I have a perfect baby - I know I'm lucky with her in many ways but she's hard work and has her moments. Don't know how I'd cope with some of the never-sleeping babies on here. Thing is when she's behaving I think she's the bestest most well behaved baby ever (like now when she's sleeping next to me) but when she screams I forget all that and have a compelte breakdown. I think you just adjust and cope with the baby you have. Main issue in this household with alice is killer wind Hmm .

OP posts:
Tarlia · 05/04/2011 16:14

I want a muffin!! That just isn't fair!

Haha I think you are right about the widdler, ledkr. Glad I'm not alone though angels! Z also often has a poo at every change, if not then there is a yellow 'mark'. I don't know where it all comes from as there is always plenty for out the sides explosions!

Wowee, Expat, that impressive weight gain for 2.5, well done!

Tarlia · 05/04/2011 16:16

Shock chocolate pudding!?

Oneof4 · 05/04/2011 16:17

Ledkr the choking incident sounds awful - hope she's okay? DH tried to drown DS with neat gripe water fired from a syringe into the back of his throat just as DS was gasping mid-scream last week. He didn't breathe for what felt like hours. Obviously it was all fine in the end, but bloody scary at the time. Hope she's okay.

Can I ask people's opinions? DS has slept a lot today and is still asleep now, which makes me scared he won't sleep tonight. I'd normally have fitted in another bottle by now but don't know whether to wake him up...WWYD?

By the way expat, my DS was weighed last week (4 weeks old) and had already hit 11lbs 13oz! My back is breaking with the weight of him...

ledkr · 05/04/2011 16:22

one of 4-thanks.

I opt for a brief nap for D if she needs it,she has sl.ept on occasions longer than she should and still slept ok although i can highly reccomend the trip and an ambulance followed by 3 hr wait at a and e as a good recipe for sleeping for 10.5 hours Grin

I take it you all realised my food diary was sarcastic.

ledkr · 05/04/2011 16:22

but true

wigglesrock · 05/04/2011 17:00

Tarlia I actually find Pampers really leaky, tried them with dd1 and they always leaked, I really like Tescos own but my friend swears by Lidl nappies.

Bensmum76 · 05/04/2011 17:48

Noah can put himself to sleep at night but that's after a feed. In the day hes either in the sling, pram or car seat. Angels and Wiggles, lucky you with babes that sleeping their baskets/cots, or maybe its not luck. If you always put them down for a nap I guess they must be used to it now. How long do they stay up between naps? I don't think I catch Noah quick enough!

knittakid · 05/04/2011 18:32

ledkr what a fright! well done to you and Ella, what a star.

jane people say those things without thinking, but they hurt just as much, so sorry.

I'm toying with the idea of watching obem, will surely cry lots but perhaps i need some immersion therapy?

very Envy at you los sleeping in cots, etc. P only sleeps on someone, day or night.

hubbard86 · 05/04/2011 19:44

ledkr i've spoken to my friend and her advice is to put calpol or ibuprofen into 1/2 oz milk and beware gripe water as that really stings

debka · 05/04/2011 20:14

Angels not only do you have a perfect baby but you are a perfect mother, well done for getting it right :)

It's funny hearing about all these babies putting on weight, S was 11.12 at 7 weeks, she's only gained 3oz a week but she was a real wobbly chinned bruiser at birth so she's thinning out.

Bensmum S manages about an hour. I try and get her down by the 3rd yawn (a la Baby Whisperer).

ledkr can I come for breakfast at yours tomorrow please? It's only rice crispies here!!
