Hi ladies, Happy Mothers day to you all.
Today has been very hard for me, i did however receive a gift from DF i got a lovely framed photo of Zoe and friends named a star in her memory. I am so glad that the day is almost over though.

Hope you are all well

wigglesrock · 03/04/2011 22:37

Thought of you today jane, knew it would be very hard for you, glad your df and friends helped you through it, thinking of Zoe x

ledkr · 03/04/2011 23:02

hi jane, did think of you too, arent you lucky to have such a thoughtfull df and friends, the star is such a lovely idea for such a pretty little girl x

Bensmum76 · 04/04/2011 06:04

Jane, what a lovely, thoughtful thing for your df and friends to do.

40Weeks · 04/04/2011 12:18

Hello Jane what a lovely thoughtful thing to do, hope you are ok today. When do you go back to work?

slowangels1 · 04/04/2011 12:40

jane that's a beautiful thing to do, what thoughtful DP/friends.

ledkr lucky you with diamonds Grin

i'm up for doing a post baby weight loss thing on here - shall we do it on this thread or set up another? just so long as it's not just me doing the weigh ins Wink

quick first timer question - am hoping to pop to supermarket with baby later for first time - now, do the trolleys have special gaps for a car seat to fit into or do some come with baby bits to strap her in? I know that's a bit of an odd question but I honestly have no idea and can't think what i've seen people with little babies do in the supermarkets. not sure whether to walk in tesco with the car seat or not Hmm

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 04/04/2011 12:53

slowangels I took Anna to Tescos and used their trolley with the bucket/car seat type thing with the straps. Bring a muslin cloth, blanket to put down on seat as can be cold/hard. Not enough room in trolley for carseat and shopping, don't want Alice to be poked by a stray banana Grin Good luck

40Weeks · 04/04/2011 13:15

Yes I know local tescos (Orpington angels?) don't have the rest for the car seat but waitrose and sainsburys do have a special trolley with a 'shelf' that you can just sit the car seat on. Not that easy to see though!

Mikey has baby acne poor love. He has been really grisly and windy for past 48 hours. Gave him warm water with gripe water added in a bottle. He had a poo about 30 mins later and is now asleep in his cot. Miracle

slowangels1 · 04/04/2011 13:38

poor little mikey 40 but glad a big poo made it better Wink . I'm off to the riverhead tesco not orpington Hmm . I'm a bit of a germ-phobe worrier so am now already worrying how clean the baby seat thing on the trolley might be Confused - maybe I'll try and bulk it out with as much blanket as I can manage. I'm only getting lots of easter eggs though so maybe I can just put her car seat in the bottom of the big trolley and just pile the chocolate around her Wink

Oh and yes I am up for weekly weigh in. Gulp. Maybe a diff thread though, not sure you all need to be put off your cereal with my weight! Ha ha. Two weeks til I can go to the gym again

ILovePonyo · 04/04/2011 14:40

Hi jane, thats lovely about the star for Zoe, and nice that your df got you a picture. Hope you are well as can be :)

40 the water with gripe water sounds like a good idea for dd when she's windy and grumpy! Will have to remember that. Poor Mikey with the acne, hope its not too sore.

Good luck at Tesco angels, I'd put the car seat in the bottom of a big trolley too, the trolleys at ours are a bit grubby!

Off to feed dd now, btw the weather is miserable here so stuck in all day boo :(

tadjennyp · 04/04/2011 20:06

What lovely, thoughtful dp and friends jane. Glad you got through it ok.

debka · 04/04/2011 20:22

Well, I am thoroughly SICK of pacing up and down with S in the sling trying to get her off to sleep and then to stay asleep. I've had permanent back ache and am sick of the sight of my daughter.

Last nap of the day today instead of putting her in the sling I decided just to put her in her cot and bugger it of she cried, DD and I were going out in the sunshine to play football. But she just crfied for 5 minutes and that was only really whinging, and slept for almost TWO HOURS. It was heaven. Wish I'd done it a whole lot earlier. Lets hope this is the start of easier days...

I have lost all my pg weight but don't feel jealous I am a humungous heffalump with a BMI of 45, there's no WAY I'm telling you what's that in stones! Would really like to lose some so can I join in too please? What sort of diet/exercise program are you all doing? I think I'd like to cut out sugar, I eat so much crap ATM, have the worst nibbly sweet tooth, esp in the afternoons when DD is in bed.

Bensmum76 · 04/04/2011 20:26

Wow, Debka, well done on getting S to sleep in her cot for her nap. I too am sick of swaying and humming around the house to get Noah to sleep for his naps. Might try your put in cot and bugger it technique! Any other notes for me to follow?

tadjennyp · 04/04/2011 20:53

I don't think we need say what we weigh, just how much we'd like to lose and whether we are getting there? I don't have any scales at home though, so would have to blag using a friend's at roughly the same time each week!

debka · 04/04/2011 20:53

Yes- go outside so you don't have to listen to the crying! I did sleep train DD1 at 3 months, earlier than they say you should but it worked and I've seen no ill effects. I saw that you trained Ben at 4-5mo too so you know what I'm talking about! I was going to wait till 3mo with S too but couldn't take it any more.

Bensmum76 · 04/04/2011 21:06

Debka, I've had the four/five month mark in my head for Noah too but don't know if I can wait that long! Tried him in his basket for nap last week but he built himself up into such a frenzy within minutes that I stuck him in his sling!
I found the whole nap thing very stressful with Ben and don't want to get fixated on it with Noah but sometimes it would be nice if he would nap in his basket.
Has anyone whose bottle feeding changed to size 2 teats yet? Noah seems to be struggling during feeds so

Bensmum76 · 04/04/2011 21:07

Oops, sometimes and dh thinks it might be time for the next teats.

slowangels1 · 04/04/2011 21:19

i'll try set up a weight loss thread for us then at some point and give a link so we don't have to take up room in this thread for those lucky ladies who don't have to worry about such things.

well done debka on 2 hr nap in cot :) what is sleep training btw?

i had a really nice day with alice - she slept alot so i got loads done Grin . she's making up for it now though with squeals of windy pain - hope she gets to sleep quickly.

i tested out putting car seat in and out of the back of the car today and did something to my back in our tiny 3 door car - there's no way my back will take it when she gets bigger so we are looking for new cars at weekend Hmm . we were going to anyway...it's just a little sooner than expected.

just watching OBEM and thinking to myself re: the girl who can't take the pain and is screaming her head of at 2cm that I think that would've been me if ever i got into labour Blush (mixed blessings for the csec!). well, that's how i imagined i'd cope anyway.

OP posts:
slowangels1 · 04/04/2011 21:30

upon further viewing of obem maybe i wouldn't be quite that bad...!

hi all, just got back from hospital cos Delilah had one of her scary choking inccidents from a small dose of calpol and it wouldnt stop,i had to do 999 it was terrifying,dh was at football and me and dd1 were really scared, had to go in the ambulance, she had finished choking but was breathing funny still.
Anyway she.s been checked up and she seems fine thank god.she was still desparate to get to bed at 8 even in the hospital, last night she went till 5.20 so im wondering what time she will go to tonight,am letting Ella go in late as she has only just gone to bed bless her,she was so good, packed the baby bag including bottles all whilst sobbing when i was with the ambulance man.
I am definately up for the fat club idea am still wearing a 16 which i am not at all happy about and have a wardrobe full of 12-14's.I will losely follow the ww i should think, that said i have developeda penchant for sweeta in bed at night which is such a habit,oh yeah and my wine addiction Shock

Tarlia · 05/04/2011 01:38

Oh ledkr how is little D doing now? You poor things, sounds terrifying :( Bless Ella, what a brave little love, you must be so very proud. Hope you are all ok!

tadjennyp · 05/04/2011 02:19

ledkr that sounds so scary! Well done Ella for being such a star. You have done a great job with her. I hope Delilah has a really good night's sleep and you manage to sleep really well too.

Bensmum76 · 05/04/2011 05:12

Ledkr, what a horrible scary thing to happen and well done to Ella. I too hope you all get a good nights sleep tonight, you deserve it!

debka · 05/04/2011 06:46

ledkr how scary, hope she is well today, hope she also slept till AT LEAST now!

Ah angels, bless you asking about sleep training.
It's teaching your child to go to sleep by themselves and there are pages and pages about different techniques on MN. Hopefully Alice is a lovely obliging baby and you will never have to do any of it!

bensmum I found it horribly stressful first time round too, am hoping that S will get the hang of it quicker this time round. I think the key is in the timing- if you wait till they're overtired then it's much harder.

S slept 8pm to 6am again today!!!
