We live at 3600ft very near a ski resort. The winter has been long!

Your inlaws sound appalling hubbard. You definitely need to speak to your friends about how you're feeling like Ponyo did. It's always the first step to feeling better. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks about your dd. She is perfect but needs some help with her hips. It's nobody else's business anyway.

Ds 1 has stuck something from the operation game up his nose so dh has taken him to Urgent Care. Dd is panicking like mad that he will stop breathing. I'm sure I will be amused by it tomorrow!!!

ledkr · 26/03/2011 22:02

hubbard i know nothing about the hip thing but know far too well how it feels to have things not right with your baby, dont know if you know but dd was born with a cleft palate which went undiagnosed untill she was starving and severly jaundiced at 3 days old and then we had to back into hospital then developed pneumonia at 6 days so back in for a week on iv anti biotics and was tube fed. I was totally devastated and like you felt like i was so used to being the strong coping feisty one that it was hard for me to be weak and unable to deal with it,i literally couldnt stop crying and felt it must be my fault in some way,my friends were amazing especially one in particular and MY family were brilliant Dh later told me he also blamed himself.
She is doing ok now but has reflux so on meds and has special bottles to feed with, she will have to have surgery when she is 6 months and weaning will be difficult.
Sorry if you knew all this but i thought you may not have caught my early posts and you wouldnt know now as i never hardly mention it
and thats because its no longer a big deal,me and dh decided we were obviously given her as we could deal with it and do the best for her and it makes her more special to us.
I can ask my sister about your dd's hips as she is a childrens nurse.
If you want to talk i can pm you my number,i defo think it has contributed to feeling low. It was terrible seeing her go thru so much but i also reminded myself how lucky we are to get all this done and for free too.

Taddd1 did that on my birthday when she was 2,it was some foam.It was also the day i contracted headlice from work and got spat at too(i worked in a childrens home) she sneezed it out before they did the op.

bensmum how are you feeling? The only sleep tip i have is too feed in the dark with minimal fuss and no nappy change unless poohy.hth

The pils have gone now,i came to bed at 9 with dd1 some choc and wine,dd2 went to bed at 7 dh is on duty tonight in the spare room bliss,
i took dd1 out to park and then came back and dh cooked for us,had to sit at the table to eat and missed "so you think you can dance" which is my fav,at least thats over can chill tmw.

wigglesrock · 26/03/2011 22:17

Hubbard thinking of you and dd, hope all goes well, both dd2 and Anna have been referred to the "hip clinic", its done as a precaution here if a baby girl is breech at 30 weeks. Although dd2 was given the all clear, I met lots of other mums who had baby girls having various degrees of treatment, after the initial worry, getting used to slings, body casts etc they all coped really well and most of the treatment was finished by the time the babies were 9 months or so, (dd2 ended up having six or so appts so we got to know the other mums quite well). Good luck xx

Ledkr Glad the unwanted ones have left and you are getting some peace, enjoy tomorrow.

Well bridezilla has reared its head, and my little sister has us all quaking in our very high and feckin' uncomfortable shoes!! Will be glad to get Tuesday over me - Mr W has been working so much, dd2 has been struggling with a bug/cold over the past week so there's been very little sleep here, although Anna has been a real star and has been sleeping better than anyone!!!

janedoe25 · 26/03/2011 23:39

wiggles thanks for the kind message! Well it is official DF and i are gettting married 19th Nov (day before my 30th bday), all booked up today! Going to a wedding fayre tomorrow to scope out photographers and other stuff.

Sorry to hear about dd's hips hubbard, but as you say she is perfect and will be getting the treatment needed. Dont be worried about other people, i have learnt that the past few weeks. People who care and matter will be there no matter what and the others well stuff them!

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Oh tad hope your son is ok!

Bensmum76 · 26/03/2011 23:47

Ledkr, I've had s good day today thanx. After sleeping with Noah in bed this morning I decided to go for it again for his afternoon nap, it was fab! He is such a cuddly baby, and at least we both got to sleep. He has manage to stay wake for two hours after each feed today so hopefully that'll mean he sleeps after his 3/3.30am feed!! Fingers crossed. My sis in law and friend came round this afternoon and took me out for a nice power walk along the path I used to run along before I got pregnant. It was great to get out and dh's face as we left him with the two boys was a picture!
I'm not sure if I'm feeling more positive because I had a good day or because the meds are kicking in, hopefully a bit of both!
Hubbard, I forgot to mention that Noah has been referred to hip clinic as I had clicky hips as a baby, and also clicky shoulder that used to pop out of the socket every now and then. Don't know what treatment I had though.
Wiggles, I do feel for re sis wedding, but it does cheer me up to hear you talk of bridezilla! Can't wait to hear all about it after Tuesday!
Well, Noah has woken for his 11am feed, taken 50ml nd promptly fallen asleep! He's fast asleep! Little monkey!
Fingers crossed for a peaceful night for all

Bensmum76 · 26/03/2011 23:48

Ooh, hi Jane! Fab. Fab news about the wedding date!

hubbard86 · 27/03/2011 00:05

ledkr i remember you sayin about d but thanks for putting down how u felt/feel. one of my best friends ds has a cleft lip and palette. He is now 2 nxt month and is a happy (but bossy) little boy. I'm sure i'll be fine but i'm still in shock just feels like one thing after another. Just as things seen to settle back down. I will know more next sat when we see another consultant. When i saw him yesterday it all kinda happened very quickly. I'm just glad i pushed for the scan as i was told when freya was born that she was fine and it was not needed. If it had not been found she would be in lots more pain as she got older and tried to walk and crawl.

Jane so glad you've set a date and you have something to focus on. Have fun at the wedding fayre and a couple of glasses of champers.
Thank you so much for the supportive messages xx

slowangels1 · 27/03/2011 08:42

sorry about Fs hips hubbard - lots of support here if you need it. Must be v worrying and Shock for you.

ledkr Shock at PiL. I hope you're feeling OK - some of your recent post haven't quite sounded like your usual self and sounds like you're having a hard time so I really hope things start improving.

tad hope your DC gets the piece of operation out from their nose Confused - I wonder which body part he put up there Hmm

janedoe great news re: wedding date. I'm trying to think of one piece of (probably unwanted) wedding advice and all I can think is only invite the people you really want to be there.

bensmum so glad you had a better day and hopefully the meds are working - how long have you been taking them? I've been on anti depressants in the past and was told it took 1 - 2 weeks to kick in properly.

Well, Shock but I got 7 hours uninterrupted sleep last night Grin. And that's taking into account the clock change. Not quite sure how Alice has been as she's been next door with DH. They are still asleep now Wink. I woke up and couldn't believe my eyes...hopefully today will be a good day for me

OP posts:
slowangels1 · 27/03/2011 08:46

completely forgot to ask at all my excitement of getting some sleep - ledkr, when you had an infected scar did you get any treatment from doctors? I've been doing all the advice but still have a questionable and now bleeding/puss seeping/painful scar which I think must have some kind of infection. I'm wondering whether I need to go to GP surgery next week.

OP posts:
ledkr · 27/03/2011 09:09

yes drs asap, they will prescribe anti b's i should think, its the stitch sites that get infected and its a good thing that they weep too, keep it clean and dry.

Hubbard-i hope you didnt think i was trying to do the "my baby is worse than yours thing" i dont thin you did,i just wanted to to see it was normal to feel teh way you do when things dont go quite right.

Had a big sleep as dh had d in the spare room,i felt a bit sad that she wasnt in the room with me but dd1 made up for it with her wriggling and kicking,i shoved her so hard in the night that she nearly fell off the bed Grin

Thanks for all the nice messages, like bensmum i have great days when D has slept and the sun is shining and i can leave the house dressed and clean,oh yeah and people dont just rock up unnannounced!!! Thats what makes me think its not pnd but circumstantial pissed offness.
bensmum ad;s normally take around 10 days to kick but many report much earlier, normally if they make you feel sick they are kickin in.Great about the kipping,am just about to go and see how d was with dh and whether he manged to mess up my good routine Hmm

Bensmum76 · 27/03/2011 09:12

Angels, I've been on the anti depressants for two weeks tomorrow, still feel a wee bit anxious but am able to talk myself out of it. I feel as though I've suddenly bonded with Noah too which feels great! Hopefully this is the turn around point for me! Haven't cried or had a meltdown since Thursday which is a record for me at the moment!
Dh and Noah are asleep too! Dh fed him at 6.45am, new time, and they've been asleep since!
Ben came into my bed at 6.30 ish and we had a lovely cuddle until he started jumping over me and the bed and wiggling his bottom in my face!

ledkr · 27/03/2011 09:46

im so glad you are feeling better,i trained as a psych nurse and have used ad's myself i wouldnt hesitate they are very clever the way they work too-i wont bore you- i dont think i need them at the mo tho.
I have been ok with the bond with d but think i resented her a bit, yesterday seeing her with the hogging pils searching frantically for me when i spoke cos she heard my voice i thought ahhh she cant help waking me up,spoiling my social life, body, career path, sex life etc etc Grin hahahaha

Well dh is crashed on sofa with d asleep in her pram, there is a cereal bowl on table and the pc is on so god knows what time he was up hehe.

pils stayed untill their bellys were full, dh cooked in the end.

I felt really annoyed as it was meant to be my night off and i wanted to start it early, watch so you think you can dance with dinner on my lap drink copiously, and even have a sneaky cig in the garden, instead i had a formal dinner missing my tv, no and SHARED my wine !!!!

ledkr · 27/03/2011 09:48

it does seem the way forward is too split up at night so at least one of you gets some rest,it will also guard against accidental pg too Grin

hubbard86 · 27/03/2011 10:14

no ledkr i know you weren't being anything but supportive. Well our house has just got up, f slept from 3(2) till 8(7). Today i've gotta try find some clothes for freya as she can't wear babygrows vests trousers tights or socks. Somebody gave me a nightie type thing that comes down over her feet which is really good as it covers her legs and puts no pressure on her harness. I want some more of them but i don't know where they're from.
Did they manage to get the operation piece out of dc's nose tad??
Ledkr get some really ghastly plonk to give them if they come again, they might not be so quick to ask.

ledkr · 27/03/2011 10:26

hubbard the nighties are from jon lewis,d has them too,i remeber a little girl at toddlers with dd1 who had a brace on her hips for ages, she got about all over the place and is now at school with dd1 and id forgotten she had had it.

I find its the little things that get to me,like you with not being able to used the baby gros. I had spent a fortune on nuby bottles and steriliser but have to use special bottles that look ok but bit different,we had to buy a new steriliser as bottles didnt fit in other one.
I also bought a proper pram but will end up using the buggy more as its uncomfortable for her to lie flat, its just not what we planned is it?
I try not to think about the surgery or it would drive me insane but it will be in late summer so cant plan a holiday as she cant fly untill after the op,oh yeah and we also cant use babysitters apart from my sister due to the feeding and meds she is on. I better stop now or ill depress myself haha

hubbard86 · 27/03/2011 11:04

ledkr my friends boy had his op at 4 months. He still has a slight hole in his palette but it doesn't seem to be affecting his speech and he has hearing aids but thats only to help as he has had several cases of glue ear. With the pram have you tried puttin a rolled up towel or a wedge pillow under the pram mattress to make it more comfortable??

ledkr · 27/03/2011 12:15

everything is propped up yes, they seem to wait a bit longer for the op,tnh i have more probs from the reflux.
Did you get the bit about the nighties at jon lewis? They are only about 7.99 for 2 and lovely quality too. Oh yes and ourr jon lewis is attatched to waitrose and the cup cakes are to die for haha

hubbard86 · 27/03/2011 14:13

had a look at the website and they are sold old but we have a waitrose in town with clothes dept so will check them when i go into town on tuesday. Somebody sent me a link on fb to someone who makes beautiful custom pieces really reasonable price and i've enquired as to some leg warmers but with velcro down the sides to keep her thighs warm. A friend is bringing over a light weight sleeping bag this afternoon so we can see if her little frog like legs can fit. Good news is freya smiled at me for the first time so that made me feel a lot better.

ILovePonyo · 27/03/2011 17:12

Aah thats so lovely about the first smile hubbard, How sweet! Grin at "little frog like legs" too :)

jane so pleased for you that you have an official date for the wedding, the time seems to go so quickly that it will be Nov really soon too. Hope the wedding fayre was good today and you found lots of useful/pretty things for the big day Wink

ledkr I didn't realise D would need surgery in the summer, bit ignorant of me, must be a worry for you. I did :) at the mention of a sneaky ciggie, I havn't smoked since I found out I was pg but it is so hard to resist at the moment and I imagine when I have my first proper night out I'll end up having a cheeky menthol...

Hope everyones having a nice weekend x

ledkr · 27/03/2011 17:47

jane-ill start looking at hats,is there room for all of us,how are you feeling?

ponyo i was a social smoker but didnt smoke when pg apart from the 78 fags i smoked with the copious drinks i had on a night out before i knew Hmm Ihad a few last friday at the races under the glare of dh who is fitness freak as are the pil, they even holiday at a sports complex abroad Shock keep asking us to come haha my holidays need to be hot and involve lots to eat and drink and the only exercise is swimming!Apparently they do early morning wake and shake, yeah right.
when met dh he went there and was ringing me early inthe morning when having a run,i was in ibiza and would be either in bed or on my way home.

hubbard86 · 27/03/2011 18:07

i had a couple of cheeky menthols when i met an old friend for lunch on friday before f's appt it was so sunny we went to the pub by the hospital had a glass of wine and a fag in the beer garden. Haven't had one since i fell prego but it was oh so good bad Wink dr must of thought i was terrible with fag and wine breath at 2 in the afternoon.

JustOneMorePlease · 27/03/2011 19:42

What a lovely weekend. The weather has been great here, we took the kiddies onto the village green for footie and frisbee!

angels did you sort out the nipple confusion issues, was wondering as I want to introduce A to a bottle, as it would be nice to hand him over occasionally. Also ds1 need an op in the summer and I want to stay with him.

Massive excitement about the wedding plans Jane that's lovely. Lol about us all getting a hat.!!

hubbard I understand the shock when all isn't well with your lo, my ds1 has downs which was picked up at birth, I was devastated. My friends dd2 who is the same age as my ds2 (now 6) was in a harness as a baby, she was a feb born too and she wore dresses over it all the time as I remember. Luckily she was fine after a period of time wearing it and didn't need a plaster or the op. Have no exact memory of the time scales etc but I can ask her if you like. She was not delayed developmentally by the harness and walked at the same time as all the others. She was and still is a feisty little girl and nothing stopped her!

ILovePonyo · 27/03/2011 19:47

Grin at hubbard with fag and wine breath for doctor, love it!

And what the frig is wake and shake Confused Sporty holidays are my idea of hell ledkr, also my dp is a smoker, he's cut down since lo arrived but I know if I even had one crafty fag he'd be telling me off the hypocrite.

Anyway I've found a bottle of wine with one glass left in it so am glugging it now while dp is upstairs with dd Grin Here's to a sleep filled night ladies

tadjennyp · 27/03/2011 20:22

Yes, they pulled the operation piece out of ds1's nose! Goodness knows how much that will cost us! It was galactic acid from the buzz lightyear game.

Congratulations on your wedding date jane! Such good news.

Glad people are feeling a little better - must be the weekend. Managed to get out to the gym this morning. Desperate to get back into my clothes again.

PinkiePoo · 27/03/2011 20:49

Can I just add ladies...we have done an amazing, incredible thing. Our lives have been turned upside down for the first or 5th time but either way it's never easy. Yes, some of us have difficult babies, some have come across some health problems, some people have found it diffucult to feel feminine and slim again, some difficult to cope.....but we are human. and we are doing a fucking fantastic job..everyone!! I think we should all give ourselves a break, pat on the back and a huge glass of wine. Whatever the situation, don't beat yourself up. I have some really good days, and others where i want to bite my own arm off so i can throw it at my DP and just pack mine and LO's bags....hee hee, fortunately i still have both arms in tact!

jane congrats. you deserve so much happiness right now and i truely hope you have a wonderful day.

hubbard it is so worrying isn't it? My LO was born with an infection and was on IV antibiotics for a week in hospital....your heart just breaks. Oh and we have a clicky hip apt on Thurs too. Please vent all worry/anger/stress out here, it helps!!

ledkr how's the reflux going? hope it is getting easier for you....

I had a lovely day at my DP's family's and his bro and fiance turned up, when she said about LO ' oh my god she is tiny.......isn't she far too small for her age??' ER.....WTF?? NO she isn't!! She is 8lb's and perfect and pint sized!! I said well considering she was born 2 weeks early and only 6lb 10, she is doing well oh and she has reflux....are you jealous there is someone smaller than you, you anorexic cow!! Ha ha.....sorry, i just thought thats not the done thing to say that about someones baby!

Sorry vent over!!!
