Oh, and the reverse psychology worked. Sky man is here and working as we speak. I am slightly Blush about my pjs and kitchen with unwashed dishes (dds are not up yet so dishwasher is still full) but not enough to wish he'd come later!

Perhaps I should try it later on the baby if it gets too comfy!

Want2bSupermum · 02/05/2011 14:46

Very jealous of those who can have baths. DH is away again and there is no way I could get out of the bath once sat down. Heck I can't even get up from the sofa without a roll to the side and push off the arm.

Stan - I will ask my obn what to do if you have an anterior placenta. The group have been very generous with their time and have helped two of my pregnant friends.

Having carpet installed today (to cover the asbestos tile on the top floor) so not working. Next job is to get radiator covers made as our radiators have lead paint on them. I can't believe I am going to be 8 months (32 wks) in 5 days. We have nothing ready!!!!

buttonmoon78 · 02/05/2011 17:24

Productive shopping trip (sandals for dd1, pumps for me - both clarks, buy one pair get 30% off second, sunhat for ds) but now, of course, I'm knackered and have got that done too much feeling.

Of course, it prob wasn't helped by then going to Pizza Hut for lunch and then going to Next to get some navy linen trousers and a black skirt (though not the one I wanted).

Will I never learn?!

Fab123 · 02/05/2011 19:32

Hey ladies!
Think I've caught up with what's going on, been a while! Nicola I hope your pain eases up. I agree with Button you need to shout sometimes with these things, but think how much easier everything will be if you get it sorted ASAP rather than wait till it gets worse! Oh and Button re the reusable nappies; my friend very very kindly gave me a huge bundle of all different sorts - bambino and towelling with various innards and covers...I've not really checked them out but she doesn't remember using them at all. I'm a little worried about washing them incorrectly (think the bambino ones need some powder rather than putting in the wash?) or getting the wrong sized innards with an un-matching outer bit etc. Anyway, if you've not got any i'd recommend the NCT nearly new sales - when we went a lady got a brand new pack of bambino ones for £5 that still had the £145 price tag on!!! Worth a shot?

Been having really itchy calves/ankles. Read on line that its another hormonal change reaction. Didn't mention to MW last week as thought I may just have dryer skin due to the recent weather, but they do actually feel like bites but without bumps...anyone else got that?

Did a baby kick counter on my iPhone app (Baby Bump) today for the first time and she moved over 10 times within 2 hours which seemed to be enough to satisfy the app at least! MW didn't ask me to count though.

Looking forward to my antenatal class next weekend - I've got a Gentle Birth one booked as well as the NHS one (which I booked on with MW weeks ago but still have no idea when it is!). Think it was £70 for a 7 hour course if anyone is interested :)

JimmyChoo17 · 02/05/2011 19:59

Fab!! I am so glad u have posted that, I am getting that itching on my legs when I exercise.

I used to get this years ago (when not pregnant)and was given different reasons, circulation, dry skin, clothing, irritated stretch marks.....no definite answer. I meant to ask MW about it but forgot. Feels itchy like I've been bitten but you can't see or feel anything on your skin. Drives me mad and stops me exercising more :-(

I would be worried I guess if was all the time but as soon as as I stop walking it dies down.

Fab123 · 02/05/2011 20:27

Ah! Not the only one then Jimmy! I read on line someone got some antihistamines for it but I think i'll just try not to itch them too much and moisturise as much as poss instead. Rather not be taking pills and wotnot while preggo!

cara2244 · 02/05/2011 20:55

I have been lying in bed since eastenders...tired today for some reason!
Fab good to hear you are trying washables. I have used them since my son was 1 month old. It seems a bit of a minefield at first but there is loads of help on the net. They're so much softer than harsh disposables. I'm going to attempt to use them from day one with this baby.

cara2244 · 02/05/2011 20:57

Anyone else in the heartburn club like me?!?! So horrible and annoying. I thought I might escape it this time but sadly no!

Fab123 · 02/05/2011 21:20

Thanks for the encouragement Cara :) I've got heartburn too - rennies soft chewables are my new bessie mate and I usually have 2 before bed. Much nicer than the chalky tablet things.

buttonmoon78 · 02/05/2011 21:33

Yep, me too. I get it when I've eaten, and when I'm hungry. I get it with all sorts of foods and drinks. I've been using the chews too and drinking a small glass of milk at night before bed. Nothing is helping now Sad so I think I need to get something stronger.

I keep waking at about 2 or 3 am with acid all the way up into my mouth. Is it any wonder I have a permanent sore throat?!

buttonmoon78 · 02/05/2011 21:35

Oh, and dh has been away so I've been using his pillows too. Changing the sheets is a massive undertaking as I have 5 pillowcases for me! One for between knees to help with pelvic pain and 4 under my head and shoulders. Still end up with nasty acid though.

Fab123 · 02/05/2011 22:15

Oh and I had this through from Bounty today if anyone can't get out to a class - it's all online vids and £45 if you put in BOUNTY as a £10 off code :)
www.antenatalonline.co.uk/signup/antenatal-classes.asp?Page=cost-and-joining

buttonmoon78 · 03/05/2011 10:14

Acid again at 03.05am. Then woke myself up about 20 mins later choking on the rennie I'd not finished. Oh 'tis glam!

My ex-next door neighbour today informed me that she was smaller than me at 27 weeks. With twins. Which was nice.

Ah well. C'est la vie!

Twit · 03/05/2011 10:29

lol button lol. I can't wait for all the comments to resume tomorrow with school.
I can't do baths so have to stand with hot shower on my back and I try to squeeze my legs together on the pillow when moving (although I have to sit up to change sides). I can't do the beds either.
I haven't really suffered with heartburn(yet) but am getting leg cramps quite frequently in the night. I often end up just giving up and getting up TBH although then I'm feckered the next day.
Nicola I don't have a car and am dreading the school run.
Cara I would like to do washables from day one but know, deep down that I probably won't, although I don't have any teeny tiny ones anyway so the first sizes probably won't fit for 3-4 weeks (or however long it takes for two big packs of disposables to be used). That's my excuse anyhoo.
Fab how are you doing? Any more creepy things happening?

'Tis all fun fun fun.

Fab123 · 03/05/2011 12:34

Thankfully not Twit plus I got a full 8 hrs sleep last night! Got a carpenter over later today to look at putting in shelves for the nursery, new kitchen worktop and boxing in my washing machine and tumble so my laundry room has more space for the inevitable deluge of washing.

Fucktard has been messaging me strangely clucky emails after asking for a pic of my bump. I think he's taken a look and finally realised there's a baby in there (HIS baby to be precise) and he's asking how much I have spent on bits for her...not going to get my hopes up that he might actually give me some money but it's an interesting turn of events Hmm

Had a lovely weekend visiting friends in West Kent. Even had a quick bat at cricked and hit for 6, then did a mad run and slid along the grass to stay in (just!) but looked up to see hands clamped over mouths and remembered i'm not meant to do grass slides when pg. I did land on my side though, which I was quick to point out Wink and it felt sooo good to do something 'non-pg' (my version of un-pc) Grin

nicolamumof3 · 03/05/2011 13:25

afternoon all. Busy morning, dh left at 5am for work he normally does school run but me today, then onto coffee morning, home for laundry and lunch then back out to bank, post office and nursery run. Am home now exhausted. And hips and knees not happy at all. My pelvis so bad the other night i couldn't even open legs to get the pillow between.

My wonderful mummy has taken pity on me tho, with dh working weekends all this month, she's said she will take boys out one day at the weekend and have them overnight the following weekend. What a relief that is i can tell you!

I keep getting comments about how big i am, then 'ooooh you've still got two months to go Shock) i just have to ignore it. Im not worried tbh, shape up will begin in September and not before.

Im in two minds about washables tbh. I do ALOT of washing at least 2 loads a day, and decided to stop using tumble dryer so in winter i just wouldn't keep up. With all the recycling i do a week i feel im doing my bit anyway. Our recycling bins are always full, we take a black sack of plastics to recycling every week too.

Eglu · 03/05/2011 14:09

Hi All. Fab I actuallt laughed out loud at the image if a heavily pregnant woman sliding along the grass and all of the faces ShockShockShockShock.

My heartburn is now horrendous and the gaviscon is not working. I had an appointment with my consultant today though and he has prescribed something super strong, and said it should make a real difference.

I also got a little scan from him, just checking head is down etc. for home birth. I also got a good view of the bottom and it is most definitely a girl. Still been struggling to believe it.

I also had glucose in my u/s today, so now I'm worried about what my GTT is going to show up.

Pesha · 03/05/2011 14:18

Yes will not be doing reusables either as I have far too much washing already that I don't really keep up with so don't need to add to that anymore than necessary!

Nicola - I have that with not being able to lift leg to put pillow in. I've not been bothering with a pillow, I physically cannot get it between my legs without dp lifting my top leg for me and I don't find it to be much of a help anyway. I have bad hips even when not pg and cannot sleep on the same side all night and the pillow stops me from being able to move in bed which is becoming nearly imposiible anyway. And I don't think dp would appreciate being woken several times a night to reinsert it!!

Have just been told off by one of the other mum's at playschool pick up for not using my crutches, have promised I will on afternoon school run! Thing is I have nearly constant pain anyway when not pg and one of my worst spots is top of back/base of neck and crutches are not kind to this area! It also means that I'm used to battling through pain and ignoring it to an extent. I know that that is not sensible now and will make me worse but I kinda can't help myself. I spent Sunday walking round Ikea with dp and yesterday building flat pack furniture and am really paying for it now.

Dp's brother and his wife had their baby via c section this morning. BIL has parked his car at our house and dp dropped him at hospital this morning (only 2 min drive) to avoid him having to pay a fortune for parking. We wished him good luck and dp asked him to let him know how it all went. Now we knew she was having section at 9am and we knew they were expecting a girl that they were going to call Poppy in memory of dp and his brother's nan who died last year but still pretty pissed off to have to read the announcement on facebook that baby had been born safe and well and weight/time etc rather than receiving a text or phonecall Hmm Think dp's really quite hurt as he looks up to his brother quite a lot, and even if there wasn't history there it still seems pretty shitty not to notify your family before plastering it all over FB. But then they are always doing shitty things so don't know why I'm surprised, just feel for dp.

buttonmoon78 · 03/05/2011 14:21

Not on at all pesh. V rude.

Pesha · 03/05/2011 14:35

Glad you agree Button! I have issues with SIL anyway so never quite sure if what she's done is really that bad or whether I'm overreacting because I just don't like her! Although it seems to have rubbed off on BIL too lately as really it was his place to let dp know today.
I have avoided commenting on FB as I'm tempted to say something like 'good to hear it all went well' which I think is quite contained but still subtley makes the point that this is the first we're hearing of it but its not my family and I think dp wouldn't want me to say anything (he's gone to work now) so I'm being good!! I will remember it when I have my baby though!!! [childish]

Eglu · 03/05/2011 14:40

Pesha that is really rude. I will announce my brith on fb, but only after I have told all close family and friends myself.

Want2bSupermum · 03/05/2011 15:04

Hello everyone. Pesha - Sorry to hear that your outlaws were so rude. We have already told family that nothing is to be posted on facebook until DH posts on both of our pages. We are 3000 miles away from family and friends, but we have family in opposite directions (my mother and sister are in Vancouver and Seattle while rest of family are in England and Denmark). I have put together emails for DH so all he has to do is enter the weight, length and time of delivery plus attach a picture.

We are going with disposables. I have 5 months off and 2 exams to study for in those months. I think my time is better spent with the baby and trying to figure out breastfeeding rather than being tied to the washing machine. DH will also be travelling at the end of July so I will be on my own for a few days. We don't have family close by so I have to be realistic about what I take on.

The majority of nappies sold here in the US are biodegradable. I have about 6 different types on my registry (all are biodegradable) and will try each type to see which suits baby best. Once we find the type we like I will order them online to keep costs down and reduce my shopping. Wipes are from costco but I only plan to use them when out and about. At our baby class the midwives said it was better to use baby lotion and cotton wool during the first week and then switch to warm water once the tar like poop has passed through. Due to the high heat here during the summer they advise leaving the diaper off while sleeping and using pet training pads to catch what comes out. It gets very humid here and we don't have central air.

Christmas78 · 03/05/2011 16:27

Fab and JimmyChoo I really suffer from itchy calves and ankles which drives me mad. My doctor told me to get some Emulsifying ointment BP from the chemist (a few quid for an enormous tub) which is the only thing that really helps me. I use it instead of soap to shave my legs and then smear it on as a sort of moisturizer in the evenings too. I found this info about it www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100000923.html. Hope that helps - I know how frustrating it is.

Fab123 · 03/05/2011 16:49

Thanks Christmas - I have dermatitis too so will use the emollient I have for that. Speaking of which my left arm has dermatitis a lot worse than normal for this time of the year...probably all connected!

Mitchell81 · 03/05/2011 17:44

Hope everyone with aches and pains aren't suffering too much. I too am suffering with SPD but am managing without needing crutches as couldn't use them even if I had too. Still getting weekly scans as fluid around baby is low so will continue to scan until anything changes. Baby measuring big and moving lots so all is fine. 31 weeks now so will discuss early c section around 37 weeks if things detiorate. Strange to think might have an early baby, but then might get to my planned section date at 39 wks. Only time will tell.
