Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LadyGoneGaga · 30/03/2011 13:11

So sorry about your cat, Inbetweener. I have two and they were my fur babies before i had my DS. They are a bit negelected now bless tham but would be really upset if anything happened to them. Hope you're ok.

Button - unbelievable woman. What a rude bitch, and good on you for standing up to her. That is all.

Pesha - what the hell has the parentage of your offspring got to do with the price of apples. My two will have different dads too. More love for my bigger DS I say - he has two Daddies to love him and play with him. Weirdly I sort of worry that the little one will miss out a bit!

I like the M&P Sola - but have a Pliko Pramette from last time - don't know whether I can justify and new one. Might wait and see how flush we feel when baby is out. Especially as DS was almost permanently in his sling anyway.

Got the midwife today...forgotten to take a wee pot. Will have to nip home first, grr.

buttonmoon78 · 30/03/2011 13:22

They'll probably have some at your surgery LGG. Mine does cos I never remember to take one! Just ask at reception.

nicolamumof3 · 30/03/2011 14:05

Sorry inbetweener about your cat Sad was scanning posts as rushing Blush

just back from MW myself. I object to carrying my wee around with me in my cath kidston handbag so i never take pot. Don't get why I can't just do a quick wee once there?

Anyway baby was kicking like mad, heard hb, measured spot on 24 so im not that huge obviously ?!

referrall done for GTT in about 4weeks and said hospital will do my routine 28w bloods at same time.

I tentatively mentioned hb if my placenta moves, which odds on it should. As long as GTT comes back ok can discuss. If positive then no way apparently.

So thats the excitement of my afternoon. Quick cuppa and cupcake then off to do the ironing.

Twit · 30/03/2011 14:07

I get the you must be mad what's the matter with you comments too. I told some-one it was 'cos me and DH have so much sex it was bound to happen. She is a conservative catholic with the perfect two kids so that really gave her a cat's bum face.
Yes, I am 26 weeks I think. Eglu will know as we are due on the same day. Grin

UPDATE: I have won; trousers for DS1, a top for him, jeans for me, raincoat for DS3, AND

A Jane slalom + matrix with accessories for £159!!!!! As opposed to £280 that some other chump paid for one exactly the same in a different colour. It will arrive tomorrow.

Scottygirl10 · 30/03/2011 14:08

Button! That's outrageous! And I'm glad you ripped her a new one. Silly cow's probably broody as hell and in denial! And inbetweener, as the proud owner of 3 beautiful pussies (ahem) I'm sorry to hear about your cat and would be devastated too if anything happened to mine. Re names, being in the blue team narrows the decision down! I like Zachary, which dh also likes. I also like James, but this is dh name and he's not really fussed bout baby having same name as him. Like Matthew also. I have ordered a lovely bebecar stylo in navy blue. really like it :) x

buttonmoon78 · 30/03/2011 14:22

Oo - that's exciting Twit! It's about right time right place. I was chuffed with our £41 Loola (just buggy & r/c) as they were all heading towards the £75 mark locally and I refused to pay that. DH was suggesting we needed to be upping our max bid as we were missing out on so many but I told him to just have some patience! Can't wait to get it and have a trial session putting it all together. I've never had a windoo before so am especially looking forward to that!

Odd thing is Scotty she's beyond all that (childbearing & sex!) but she's a childminder! Who apparently doesn't like children! V odd.

Right. Had a productive hour working. Time to get casserole on for tonight, jump in the shower, then off to school. Seeing gp tonight to ensure my varicose vein is what I think it is and to make sure that I'm doing everything I can be (hence the having a shower now - she might want to look after all!). Also to ask about my eczema around my eyes. Everywhere else it's getting better but it's getting worse there Confused and I'm really cautious about using my hydrocortisone on my face.

buttonmoon78 · 30/03/2011 14:22

Jealous of your cupcake though Nic!

MissLolita · 30/03/2011 14:55

Inbetweener I am so sorry to hear about your cat xxx

Button you've made me laugh out loud twice now! Good on you!

I had Emilia too - and yes because of Emilia Fox but due to her portaryal of 'Rebecca' rather than 'Silent Witness'! However it is very similar to my nickname and dh thought that was a bit silly. I really like Florence too but dh thinks people will think we named it after David Cameron's daughter. He has an objection for almost every name I have suggested! We couldn't have Beatrice (my favourite) because of Princess Beatrice and lots of the other names I liked don't go with our surname. So far we can agree upon Ophelia, Felicity and Constance. Pesha I love your names!

I arranged delivery of my Bee today for the day after I get home from holiday :) V exciting!

Here's a question for the other first-time ladies - are you expecting a Mother's day card? I jokily said to dh "I guess this will be the first year I get a card!" and he said, "no, you're not a mother yet". Sad I know it's 'commercial nonsense' but... since being pg I have sent daddy/grandparent/uncle/aunt etc cards from the bump..I do like cards though....

Fab123 · 30/03/2011 15:23

MissL I was thinking the same thing actually - I personally feel that as we are feeding them daily we are already being mothers. Maybe you should ask if he can look after her for a bit then, you deserve a break after 5 months, and see what he says Wink
I also had Beatrice down but OH ruled that one out first of all.

Spent the morning trying to go through the huge pile of clothes I have. It's worn me out just hoovering out the drawers, putting new lining in and then folding everything up in age order by drawer (even though I still have to wash them, just want everything in the right place atm as the room looks like a bomb site). I seem to have ended up with 4 mobiles now. Is it excessive to hang 4? I feel that she will just have more to look at?

Midwife tomorrow :) Wondering who I will see this time and if they will actually bother doing more than just BP, wee into a pot and heartbeat. Sounds like they might measure me or weigh me for the first time - is that how they knew you were spot on 24 weeks nicola?

MissLolita · 30/03/2011 16:09

Good thinking Fab! :) I also like Ivy and Arabella and they've not been completely ruled out yet so maybe there are more options...it's a huge responsiblity!

You're doing very well to be washing and sorting! I currently have one babygro and I'm living in hope of being given a bundle of clothing by someone...:)

4 mobiles is fine! I have just finished a cot mobile that I made - I bought a secondhand one on ebay for £4 (the same as the one Ronnie has in Eastenders!) and redid it to go with my nursery colour scheme - photos on Flickr if you're interested :) And I have the hot air balloons I amde a while back so there will be plenty for the baby to look at hopefully.

I'm starting to get excited about the nursery. We have the cot up already but still with plastic coverings on (to protect from my curious cats) as I wanted to measure it for mobiles/blankets etc and I have made a rag doll, cushion and blanket for the rocking chair etc to match. We've also had a blackout blind made and fitted and it's starting to feel like the 'nursery' rather than the 'office'.

Mind you, my inlaws came over on Sunday and my MIL went into the nursery and said "Gosh, I wont be buying anything for this baby because it looks like it is spoilt before it's even been born!" Dh came to my defense and pointed out that the only things that were there were things I had made (3 knitted cardigans) and the one bought babygro on display as wel as the above bits but she just smirked. I can't bear to put the few things I have away right now - they help make the room the nursery and I like to look at them - there isn't that much though....?

Fab123 · 30/03/2011 16:18

How silly of her to smirk MissL! It's your first baby so why wouldn't you be getting bits in! How rude! She'd think I was having octuplets if she saw my nursery! Pffff. Maybe you can save her generosity for the more expensive bits later on...when she wants to do horse riding lessons or skiing for example Wink

Pesha · 30/03/2011 16:33

Inbetweener - so sorry about your cat, doesn't sound silly at all to me. When I left home I had to leave my cat with my mum. It was prob about a year later that she got hit by a car and died, about a month later my gran died and I hate to admit it but I cried less about her than I had about the cat. Is that really awful?! Blush

I would have really liked the name Felicity if we were having a girl but dp wouldn't even consider it!

Scotty - I like James/Jamie but is my dp's name too so is out!

Everyone seems much more organised than me. I bought pushchair/carrycot/car seat at baby show as well as a new moses basket and a steriliser/breast pump/bottles pack and a few little cute bits. Also have bought a couple of cute baby grows but thats it, oh and bought a bumbo off a friend this week. I have numerous bags and boxes of baby clothes in the loft but no idea what and what condition its all in and it will def need washing. I thnk I have a vibrating chair thing up there and a bath and bits. The cot is up there too and should still be ok. But I don't know about bedding or towels, I need a new changing mat or 2 and a gym thingumy and probably need some other little toys and bits. ooh and I want one of those mirrors for looking at them in the car, had one before but it broke. Need a new sling or 2 too! But the boys room and my room are both full of stuff that there isn't the space and storage room for and are in desperate need of sorting out so theres no point in me getting it down until I have somewhere to put it all. I keep thinking I should really start buying the odd pack of nappies or things for my hospital bag too, I know I have 3 months left still but I can see it flying by and me having a last minute panic at 40 weeks and packing my bag while I'm in labour!!

Fab - my last mw appt was at 25 wks and she measured me for the first time but haven't had weight done other than at booking in, I don't think they really bother with weighing you anymore, I get the impression they only weigh at start for BMI and thats it unless your BMI puts you in an at risk group. My next appt is next week at 28 weeks, hoping they do bloods as wondering if I might be aneamic. Am also wondering when they start noting what position the baby is in, is that soon or not till later on? And when do appts start being every 2 weeks? I've booked in for a 4d scan tomorrow so will presumably find out position then anyway. I know it will all change still but am just curious. Very excited about the scan though as never had one before. We're taking the dc with us too which will be nice as they didn't come to my other scans.

How has my dd ended up with songs on her iPod that I want but don't have ?! Confused

Pesha · 30/03/2011 17:04

I hate it when people smirk, if you've got something to say then bloody say it and I will tell you why you're wrong but don't just stand there smirking and say nothing giving me no opportunity to justify/explain myself because I may have to slap you!! XP's mum was always smirking or exchanging looks with her dh and it used to infuriate me. I have reasons for my parenting choices, if you don't understand them then ask and I shall explain and maybe we can have an interesting discussion, but don't stand there silently judging and smirking Angry I am so glad to be out of his family now!

And while there is currently no space for this baby to sleep upstairs at all, not even an empty drawer, with my 1st child I had the nursery decorated with cot up and wardrobe open with washed and ironed baby clothes hanging neatly inside and I used to regularly go in and just look at it and try and picture an actual little person being in there and wearing the clothes. Perfectly normal IMO!

Oh and re the person who made the 'at least my kids have the same dad' comment, yes it is utterly offensive and pathetic. She has a sister who she claims to be incredibly close to (they have their own language Hmm) whose (is that the wrong whose? Should it be who's?? Have hit a mental blank) children have different dads. On the other hand her dh used to work as a bouncer at a few of the clubs and pubs in town and I know for a fact that he lived up to the stereotype of club bouncer so while her kids may all have the same dad, his kids may have different mums!!

Gosh thats incredibly bitchy isn't it?! Blush She is one of those sanctimonious 'my way is the only way' mothers that brings out the worst in me!

buttonmoon78 · 30/03/2011 17:20

It does that to me too Pesha. I hate the way I react like that but I think it's because we're human! BTW, I think it's 'whose'.

DH says he will be able to pick up Loola tonight - am soooo excited!

GP says I'm already doing everything I can to help with my unmentionable vein - there's nothing else at all. But apparently there's to be no pruning down there until it's gone down. She said if I nicked it I wouldn't bleed to death or anything (O good!) but that it would make a terrible mess and I'd probably end up in hospital. Eek! Looks like I'll be going au naturel from now on then... And she gave me some different hydrocortisone to use on my face. It was one of those count the items off on your fingers appointments!

MissLolita · 30/03/2011 17:39

Pesha, just reading your rant made me feel better! :)

Button, good news all round! A low maintenance garden :)

maddyer · 30/03/2011 17:43

have been trying to teach ds2 the alphabet i say each letter then he repeats it then we come up with a word for that letter! but so sweet whenever we get to "w" he says double me! instead! well what can I say to that!

buttonmoon78 · 30/03/2011 18:01

Aw. How cute is that! I love the things they say 'wrong'. Ds knows that in order to get a biscuit at our hairdresser he has to say 'sbiggit' as that's what he used to say and she loved it so much! He now does it with a huuge sigh and raises his eyes skywards every time. He's a grown up 4 now so says it properly!

Am all in favour of low-maintenance! Won't be long before I would've given up anyway. After all, there's only so much blind shaving you can do and my belly's getting bigger by the day Grin

maddyer · 30/03/2011 18:14

button I managed to get myself in a huge state during last pg trying to wax my bits a wk before due date! slathered on the wax got the strip on and couldn,t get it off as belly in the way! my hubby came home to me on bedroom floor with my thighs mostly stuck together! he helped me snip it off and get washed off, all the while wetting himself! git! am going au naturel this time too! the biscuit thing is too cute! my little man just turned 2 so more silly sayings to come yet!

buttonmoon78 · 30/03/2011 18:56

That'll teach you for using wax! I can't - it brings me out in hives so I have a real reason for being a wuss...

nicolamumof3 · 30/03/2011 19:28

button i didn't even mention my swollen 'bits' to mw today I know nothing can be done apart from rest. It will disappear immediately so thats another thing to look forward to.

None of my boys apart from ds1 has had their own nursery. I really miss getting that ready and then going in to look at it and dress it, and add little pieces. So don't blame any of you who can do this to do it and indulge.

I bought more stuff today as next had added more to their girls sale online. Mainly a couple of cardi's but they were in 3-6m. Only went on their to order ds2 school trousers!!

Fab they measure your bump from this stage routinely now i've found. Dating is absoultely still done from your scan/EDD i've always strangely been spot on for my dates with what they measure me so thats something im normal on!!

Stangirl · 30/03/2011 20:37

Ooh - you're talking names. I've got a problem in that I like very unusual names - unique if possible. DD has a weird one but upcoming DS is proving more difficult (mainly because I think most boy names are rubbish). We have already discounted Cosmo and Jethro (apparently anything ending in "o" is quite common in posh schools). Caleb is out because DP doesn't wanted anything too biblical. So far on the list we only have Halcyon (to be known as Hal), Digby and Beowulf (to be known as Wolfie). Does anyone have any out there names for boys that they quite like but would never use and could tell me?

Fab123 · 30/03/2011 20:55

Stangirl I quite liked Neo for a boy - it's Keanu's name in Matrix and I've always gone a bit squiffy over him Blush

highheelsandequations · 30/03/2011 20:58

Pesha my MW said that at next appointment (28 weeks) she'll be able to start noting the position of the baby. Not sure when appointments become every 2 weeks, think it might be 32 weeks? I've got the weeks ticked in my notes for when appointments are.

Feeling very disorganised reading everyone's news. I have bought nothing yet. Nothing at all! We have nowhere for pip to sleep yet and our bath is still in the garage! At least our bathroom now has 3 walls and a ceiling though, it might even be tiled in a few weeks.

Also we have not really got anywhere with names except for having some discussions and discovering there are maybe a few names that we kind of both like!

Phone midwife about the chickenpox, apparently there are now a few kids with it not just one (although didn't know that when I phoned). She said hopefully it'll all be fine as I should be immune from having it, and it's not too much of a worry at this stage. Plus as the contagious (how do you spell that?) stage is the 3 weeks (didn't realise it was so long) before you realise you've got it I will have been exposed already so there's not a lot I can do!

2 more days till the holidays, yay!

Fab123 · 30/03/2011 20:59

Haha! just re-read your post and done the pregnancy headslap I'm getting to know and love - you said nowt ending in 'O' - der! Soz!

hilltop666 · 30/03/2011 22:00

button wat a complete cow that woman was she's quite obviously jealous - she prob couldn't cope with 4 kids and knows it!

Having a few mental days here, random wee pains everywhere round my belly and boobs, nothing major I know but enough to annoy me, anyone else get anything like this??

Was on a building site today (i work in construction industry) got a few funny looks! most men look at a woman on a building site like she has three heads anyway, never mind an obviously pg one, was a mixture of Shock and Confused
