Well, we don't have the getting used to living with each other issues at least..we have done for the last 4 years..(though I still wish he'd learn to close a drawer or cupboard after opening it..I seem to spend all day closing the things after him..teehee)
I think he is just a little young, and in shock, and no matter what he reads it doesn't sink in...
He tries his best though...
Damn ...I have done it again, and spent most of the afternoon posting on here...Can't wait to have the baby to fill my time ..hehe..
You must sympathise though..I have had nothing to do since 12 weeks pregnant, just been at home...pottering around..! argh!

babyonboard · 24/10/2005 17:28

grr..me again...everyone must be doing much more exctitng things! teeheee..
dp is due home in half an hour and everything is upside down..i started 'sorting' with the best intentions but haven't finished, and the place looks worse than when I started..
don't want to seem like a stepford wife but i'd be annoyed if i was in dp's position..
can anyone send a cleaning fairy round asap!?

Enthusia · 24/10/2005 18:10

GRRRRRR

Having real problems logging into MN, it has taken me 15mins this time. Is this just me?

goldenoldie · 24/10/2005 18:15

Enthusia - no, I've had problems logging-in too

rodeo1 · 24/10/2005 19:03

Hi Guys,

Have made a futile attempt to catch up on posts, but there's just too many!! Have finally got the laptop sorted by BIL, thank goodness, I couldn't bear to miss another birth like I missed Nova's! I've really missed you lot!

Well, the euphoria of having a lovely cute new baby is wearing off, what with the constant state of breastfeeding, winding, bottom changing, washing and drying clothes (which has, rather than going up around 20% as I expected has blown up out of all proportion!! She' only tiny FGS!!)

Right, I'm going to try and catch up a bit more, may attempt a birth announcement, but this one handed typing is slow!!

Baby Jess 2 weeks today! x x x

PS I'm sure none of you can sympathise, but I miss my bump!

JenJam · 24/10/2005 19:21

warning warning

Venomous rant coming

I am spitting!!!

BRITISH GAS is an INEFFICIENT DINOSAUR

I spent the whole day stuck indoors waiting for a BG engineer to see to our boiler - the best they could do is give me a 10 hour window for the visit 8-6 pm.

i telephoned the call centre 4 times thoughout the day to check engineer progress - yes 'on his way' when it got to 6 pm and NO ENGINEER. telephoned call centre, I was put on hold for 15 mins then sent back round the loop via billing for another 25 minutes then got a dour supervisor - lynne in Stockport - who claims there was no such booking made!

best she can do is offer me another all day appt 8-6pm tomorrow

or a 1 hour slot on the 1st november

and 'if you don't like it go to an independent in the yellow pages. Good day.' click.

i'm fuming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

novadandypowder · 24/10/2005 19:30

ok, I'm with Rodeo, I thought i'd be able to catch up on a couple of days worth, but you ladies can talk! I can also relate to the laundry situation - can't believe how much I seem to be doing for a small one.

The tiredness is starting to sink in now, reality of life with a small baby is gradually dawning. She has a scream time at about 10-11pm where she just will not settle, and doesn't go to sleep properly until 5.30-6am, after which she can sleep until 11.

Still getting very uncomfortable after pains.

Oh, and her cord stump dropped off today - one milestone down!

rodeo1 · 24/10/2005 20:02

Baby Natalie is very very cute Nova, I did at least manage to see them!! Glad to see you on here, we should start a post-natal group but it may be rather boring with just the 2 of us I was so glad when Jess's stump fell off! How sad!

Have just done a rather boring birth announcement, which took forever with just one hand!

Right, the boobs are in demand again so better go, starting to feel a bit mauled TBH. And if dp trys to feel them up one more time I will knock his block off.

Hope you have a good night with Natalie Nova, and to those of you still getting up to wee/getting kicked to death, hope you all do too x x x

babyonboard · 24/10/2005 21:02

jenjam..boo for b.g..we have had similar nightmares with n-power..they jus tdon't care about your circumstances..so annoying when you think how muc hwe pa ythem..

nova and rodeo.lovely to hear from you!...and so glad you found the time to update us all!
It's nice to see the rewards when so many of us are having a rough time...
I imagine after the initial euphoria wears of you have quite a while of adjusting and trying to establish a routine...good luck girls!
eeek..can't wait to join you both on a new mummies thread...

dp has fallen asleep already..hard day at work! so I am at a loss right now....i'm used to it in the daytime, but can't do without evening company..argh..
maybe I should poke and prod him til he wakes up..teehee

babyonboard · 25/10/2005 08:40

Just wondering..when the stump falls off if there just a normal belly button underneath?

twinkle1 · 25/10/2005 08:54

morning all,
Yes just normal tummy button underneath sometimes it can be a bit pink but settles.

Diege · 25/10/2005 08:54

Morning everyone!
Good to hear your news Rodeo and Nova - I remember missing my bump too (we're never happy!). I'm still catching up on washing pile from last Spring, so I can only admire your efforts! You look really glam in your pictures Nova (anbd I'm sure you do too Rodeo!) - does having 3 seem a lot more work?
Jenjam - got really cross reading about your GB gas experience; I would put in some sort of formal complaint (citing the charming Lynn). Like BoB we had similar thig with n-power.
Plans for today - must do hospital bag!!!, and carry on sorting out the girls toys. Filled two black bags for charity shop yesterday, but lounge still looks the same. Also need to get some arnica 200, but Boots only stock lower doses. Panicking too as we can't find our baby chair (bouncy type on a frame) - any ideas for where I can get a good one for a reasonable price that can be delivered?
Anyone see channel 5 'Having a baby destroyed ny life' last night? - some good points about taboos etc I thought, but also a bit constructed for the cameras (and why say it in front of the 4 yerar old?!). Morning rant over - back to toy pile!
Diege 37+2

Diege · 25/10/2005 08:56

Hi Twinkle! Try to get some rest after your awful night, and good luck with the midwife and moving section forward - I would definitely try a cry, usually works (well, with male doctors anyway!).

ChaCha · 25/10/2005 09:43

So much to catch up on already!

Hope everyone is okay this morning, nice to see posts from Rodeo and Nova and I definitely think you should start a post natal thread. I think I could learn a lot from it nearer the time, as for now, I cannot see past my hospital bag. Just can't believe that we will be having a baby!

Cot has just arrived so will be going bedding shopping with mum later. Quite looking forward to assembling it and getting the last of the necessities ready.

For the first time in my PG people are asking either me or mum when I'm due. It's lovely I am enjoying this part of pregnancy even though it can be quite exhausting. And feel free to remind me of that when i next come on here to moan, he he!!!

Catch you all later xxx

BEKsmum · 25/10/2005 09:50

Morning girls,

Twinkle you poor thing, you really are having a rough time of it aren't you, hope the mw is helpful today and that you can get your date moved forward. I take it moaning from the kids about being bored today, would not be a good idea! Sending cyber hugs to cheer you up {{{}}}}}

Nice to see you rodeo & nova, don't worry we'll all be graduating soon to join you on the other thread, we're just sadistic on this thread and keeping to our dates!

Jenjam what a liberty no wonder your furious at BG, I'd phone there head office and let rip if Iwas you, that's just not on in your condition.

Just a quick catch up from me as I'm off to the hospital again this morning, had an appointment at the day Assessment Unit yesterday and was lucky to escape again as BP through the roof, have got to take sample 24 sample back today and have bp checked again, and if the base rate won't stay under 90 they won't let me come home, it took a 45 minute lie down to ge it there yesterday

Dh is off to Wales tomorrow night and back thursday after the funeral and I've got a review with the consulttant during the day - have a feeling he'll be coming straight from the train station to the hospital ready for an induction - gulp. I think this baby has definitely got a mind of it's own as I had tightenings all last night too, so it's my guess that as dh's train pulls out of Paddington tomorrow night my waters will break.

Will try to catch up with everyone elses news later today, take care for now and lets see some more graduates girls. Beks

ChaCha · 25/10/2005 09:52

I wanted to ask a quick question as well, totally forgot.
Last night after eating dinner I felt a bit flushed so went to lie down on the sofa. Was really hot, mum made an ice pack and placed it on my forehead for a while, I fell asleep for no more than a nap and felt much better, however, I woke up with what I can only describe as a wave that seemed to come up over my stomach followed by a sharpish pain in my groin and that was that.
Is that a contraction type pain do you think and is it common to get the odd one now? It may have been something totally unrelated but that 'wave' i felt was really strange.
Thanks for any info.

Hi chacha,
Wave could have been a contraction but they normaly start at top and go down??It could also just have been the babies head pressing on a nerve that can give u very strange pains.
Well as for my midwife everything is fine apart from me Bp great, urine great baby great.Which im glad about but her suggestion was oh well i will make u an app with consultant next week!!!!!!!
I did not know what to say so i just came out i also had the kids with me.I cannot cope till next week i want something doing now!!!!! either more painrelief or my section moving forward a week, i dont think thats unreasonable???????
I just cannot continue like this, sorry to moan at u all

ChaCha · 25/10/2005 10:46

So sorry that you're in pain Twinkle, wish there was something that we could do Not unreasonable at all IMO, I hope they can move it forward for you.

Thanks for info. I think it must have been baby sitting on a nerve then as the wave seemed to start from bottom and not the top.

Wishing you well x

Morning everyone!

twinkle, you poor thing, yes, ring your midwife, tell her you just can't cope, this is madness!
ChaCha, lovely to hear you're feeling good and you and your mum are getting on so well. Did you say your baby was in a tricky position before? I'm thinking that maybe the sensations you describe from last night could have been your baby moving to a new, perhaps more favourable, position? That wave could have been a big movement and the sharp pain the baby moving into your pelvis?
BEKS good luck at the hospital today, hope your BP is down, my fingers are crossed for you...
Jen, I agree with BEKS, ring HQ and let rip if you can bear to... good luck and lots of strength to you.
Hi nova & rodeo, so lovely to hear your baby news.... even though you are so shattered! Hope you both had a decent night last night, remember to grab a rest/accept offers of help whenever you can.
Hi to everyone else too!
I'm v. excited as off to the theatre tonight to see the first night of the new production of Agatha Christie's 'And Then There Were None', at the Gielgud Theatre in London's West End........yay! I'm quite nervous too as I think it's pretty scary/shocking stuff, but will have my eldest son and husband there with me if he manages to get his magazine off to press on time tonight... fingers crossed. What to wear though? Nothing fits me any more, lol! One of my sisters bought me a v. long black wrap-around skirt the other day saying it was a really generous cut etc... it only just fit around me, and I looked just like Widow Twankee in it, ha ha ha, lol, lol, I don't think she was v. amused when I said this. Ah well, perhaps the old pg jeans but with gorgeous hair/make-up/earrings so no-one notices? I look like a pantomime horse in a dress right now.... I'll let you know!

sarahsausage · 25/10/2005 12:03

Feeling a little better about being on my own today, didnt think i would sleep last night but i slept like a log! Also dd let me have a lie in as she didnt wake until 9:30am. Think now im more bored than bothered about being left on my own. Weather is so rubbish and money limited so can't really do much other than sit in and watch cbeebies.

Starting to get really bad heartburn when i wake in the night but am thankful that i dont have some of the problems some of you ladies are having.

Twinkle - hope you manage to get something sorted for your pain, is bad enough me running around after dd being so pregnant can't imagine how you must be feeling.

Jenjam - at BG and attitude of supervisor, hope you get your heating back soon.

Well, off to rustle up something for lunch, then should really do some housework.....

Sarah 35 weeks today!

Diege · 25/10/2005 12:08

Twinkle - I would definitely ring midwife - tell her you've had time to think, and ask for a second opinion if necessary. Not that I'm an expert in this from the midwife point of view, but from teaching politics I know the patient's charter etc, and you are entitled to a second opinion at the very least to achieve what is called a reasonable standard of care.Sorry to sound condescending if you know all this already!
Beks - good luck with the blood pressure! It must be nervewracking being monitored like this, although I have a feeling that this time next week you will be typing with your baby on your knee! Are you still having your sweep this week?
Lucky you Londoner with your trip out tonight! I don't think you can go wrong with jeans and a knock-em dead top/accessories!
Have started hossy bag, and have realised (as you all said) that at least 2 bags are needeed. Will return to task later...Tens machine has arrived. yipee!
Diege.

twinkle1 · 25/10/2005 12:35

thank you for all your kind words
Dh is coming home early and then im going to ring the hospital and try to see someone.Im convinced that we have hurricane wilma up here the weather is dire!!!!
soon i will need a canoe to get to the hospital
I hope everyoneis feeling ok, sorry if im full of doom and gloom at the min.I am so looking forward to actually having this baby.

Londoner · 25/10/2005 12:52

twinkle- good for you, well done & good luck.... maybe like in the movies once you sort out your stuff the weather will calm too....
Diege, thanks!, I appreciate your support on the what to wear front... good luck with your hossie bag... I'm just filling two under-bed crates in prep for my (hopefully) home birth... one with all the midwives stuff in it (fed up with ugly black bin liner they delivered in corner of my bedroom) and one with stuff for me & the baby once it's born.... feels good to organise this stuff doesn't it?
sarah, have you tried Gaviscon? Alot of the others swear by it... on the good side it means your baby is growing well..!

babyonboard · 25/10/2005 12:57

Twinkle - that doesn't sound like fun at all!, the weather was awful here last night too but it's quite sunny now.
Hope you speak to the midwife again and get your date moved - sounds like you are really fed up now!
We are going to buy a washer dryer as my aunt said it's almost essential with all the baby clothes - apparantly the sight of the house a mess and radiators overflowing with baby clothes used to make her cry so my uncle went out and bought them one.
chacha - it does sound a bit like braxton hicks..also sounds like your mum is really taking care of you which must be really nice!
londoner, enjoy your evening! we are going out for dinner and to the new cinema in greenwich, but I'm worried about getting backache...the seats are uncomfortable enough without a baby bump and spd !
I'm also having a clothes dilemma..I don't go out much so want to wear something nice, especially as I'm meeting dp from work and he'll be in his suit..I don't want to look like a ragged tramp! teeheee
I'm a litle concerned about the babies movements today- i've only felt a couple of nudges around my pelvic bone which is very unusual! hoping he's doing it on purpose as I was moaning to dp that he had moved too much in the night and kept waking me up! hehehhee
Maybe it's just getting too cramped in there now...
