Executive decision that at 987 posts we're moving over!

New challenge - can we fill up 1000 posts before the first babies arrive, given that we managed to keep our legs crossed all through the last one?!

First babies are due, officially, next month but are there any in such a hurry to see the world that they can beat our chatting?

OP posts:

Cyclebump · 19/03/2011 20:15

Ah but Lis and Snap, between those muscly shoulders and thighs is a distinctly cuddly middle. Of course, as a prop he needs said squidgy bit. Clearly it's all about pack weight Hmm

LisMcA · 19/03/2011 20:23

Yeah pack weight, thats right :o!!

Can anyone see the moon? It's meant to be a supermoon tonight, cloudy here so can't see it.

BeetleBaby · 19/03/2011 20:57

Oh kits you poor thing! I second the nice, long, warm bath leaving DH to sort the girls for the rest of the evening! Otherwise feel free to rant away on here!

We're not watching the France v Wales match, DH couldn't bring himself to cheer on the French...and neither could I. So instead I have the BBC Sport website open and am refreshing like a mad woman!

With regards to the visual attributes of the six nations teams I agree that Scotland do tend to tick the boxes! I lived in Edinburgh a few years ago and my flatmate worked behind the bar of a pub the was often frequented by team members. Those thighs do look good in trousers as well as shorts! Grin

BeetleBaby · 19/03/2011 21:02

And to add, DH isn't a rugby player his thighs still tend to make me weak at the knees! Wink Grin

LisMcA · 19/03/2011 21:30

Ooh Beetle what bar??? I'm not far from Edinburgh!

kittycatcat · 19/03/2011 22:15

Hello April ladies

petal it was me on the drop! Got your lungs back :)?

salted ouch!

jks mine and a mate had problems with the iTunes software update. It reset my mates phone and froze my computer!

kits Grrr at dh! And ouch hope you're ok!

So. Dh went to an Irish beer festival yest... In short I heard from him only once when I text him having heard he'd been in touch with a mate...but not me. I woke up at 1am and be still wasn't home. Called him and ranted basically. he was drunk, incoherent and argumentative so I hung up on him. Grrr. He's been in a bad way all day. Had my baby shower and it was lovely. 10 of my friends and afternoon tea in a beautiful hotel. Games and lots of lovely presents. Came home and helped dh put kittens wardrobe together. He's suffering and short tempered. Marked the changing unit and had a pop at Meehan I said I wasnt happy. His bro and wife are coming tomorrow. His bro is helping finish the furniture and I text my sil to say can she make sure her dh gets it finished. So a mixed few days!!

Liv77 · 19/03/2011 22:33

I didn't bother with a newborn pramsuit for DS who was born in April but did have a couple of nice coats. They tend to spend most of their time in babygros anyway at first so their feet and well covered and they have the cosy toes covers in the prams.
Once winter comes I highly recommend Jojomamanbebe's Polarfleece's link here
They are lightweight, lovely and cosy, machine washable and dry really quickly. I often got asked where I'd got it from. DS is now on his 3rd polarfleece outfit as they do seperates in the same material for older children and I'll be getting a 4th for this winter.

Kits Have a Wine, I'll join you. DH broke one of my new freezer drawers today. He claims it was stuck and he just janked it out Angry it is now held together with parcel tape. I may have also used some rather expletive terms when he broke it which I then heard back parrot fashion from DS. Luckily his pronouncement isn't up to par and it just came out sounding more like x cake.

While we're on the case of DH's and their total lack of urgency. Our spare room is also still full of crap, in fact it looks even worse than when we started. Dh had 2 hours in there the other day and when I came back all he'd done was moved some piles of paperwork from one side of the room to the other and burnt out the shredding machine. I was not impressed, Shredding FFS - hardly top priority when there's so much shit spread across the floor that I can't even get across the room because it's like a bloody obstacle course. I am very Envy of those of you with handy husbands who actually do "man" stuff around the house. Grin

Rant over, poor DH knows i love him really. On the plus side my BP is back down to an acceptable rate {although I expect it shot up again during the freezer incident) and DS is fine despite another trip to A&E today after whacking his nose on a metal slide at the park. The swollen bruised nose really sets off the glued cut on his head from the other week really nicely Hmm. I'm starting to feel paranoid when I take him out now and often think people have got their judgey pants on. Some oldgit OAP at the supermarket actually asked DS what his naughty mummy had been doing.

On the 6 nations front, I always support Wales as DS godmother is Welsh and in my younger days we always used to go to the pub together to watch the matches.

Apologies for the mega post, you can't stop a PG woman mid-rant, I feel much better now Smile

kittycatcat · 20/03/2011 08:52

Quick q. Is it ok to use anasol? I recall some talk of it on here.... Ta

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 20/03/2011 09:13

kits - I would be fecking furious about the car situation.

Re. rugby, I have to say that the Scots are a good looking bunch. DH is a Scot so we cheer them, and then England for me. :) It was a pleasant afternoon watching all those thighs though, yum. DH has rather good ones himself, despite never having played rugby!! Grin

If you haven't bought a pramsuit yet then I wouldn't bother, they are so warm that unless it is the middle of winter or you are going to be pushing your newborn miles and miles in the pram every day you don't need one.
Vest, babygro, cardi and then coat plus blankets works well - and it is easier to add/remove layers to prevent overheating.

caramel - if you are planning to use a sling a lot that will leave the baby's legs exposed, then maybe get some of those trousers/leggings with feet? Baby will stay really cosy up next to you but I agree that legs need an extra layer if it is windy.

Liv - we always buy JojoMaman coats and other outside clothes, they are really good quality I think - and it is so nice to be able to buy things for DS that aren't brown!! In fact I get a lot of things for him from there, and their baby things are to die for Grin

Have to say, DH is pretty good about getting tasks done. We are pretty much sorted now, he just needs to sort the garage out a bit today to make space for the old fridge-freezer and then we are done. Hurrah! :)

kitstwins · 20/03/2011 09:37

Kitty Yes, safe to use during pregnancy. I have been using anusol cream and pessaries to tame my haemmaroid (sp). My only gripe is that I wish they'd rename it. Why would you have a pile cream with the word 'anus' in its name? I've also packed a few of the pessaries to take to hospital with me in case my pile gets worse during pushing. God, the glamour just kills me. On a separate note, sorry to hear your husband has been an a*se on the beer festival front. I think it may be a prerequisite of beer festivals the world over. It's not what you need though. My husband is now on a non-drinking phase as I hate the smell of alcohol and HATE drunkeness (had too much to put up with when I was first married to him and my patience was well and truly tested and exhausted) and I've told him that if I do go into labour and he's pissed or hungover then I'm not going to want him around being hungover, useless and breathing on me. Harsh, but I am hormonal woman - hear me ROAR!!!

Thanks all for kind words on my crippling kitchen manouvre of yesterday. I had a hot bath and limped around for a bit and then applied some Deep Heat to my pubic bone and inner thighs, which was an odd experience. I then gave up and went to bed. It's still stiff today but at least I can walk on it rather than hobble, so it has obviously improved. I also had a chat to my husband about the car and he has promised that he will have it "sorted by Monday". I said how it was stressing me out that that it wasn't sorted and that it was his one task and that I'd done everything else, etc., etc. so I think he got the picture. He's brilliant in many ways (helps with EVERYTHING with the girls and gets up in the night all the time with them if they're ill, etc.) but he's just crap at being organised - he's a prevaricator extraordinaire.

No pramsuit at this end either as I think April is probably too mild. I've got some little velour babygros that will go over cotton babygros and also some thick cardigans, etc. With a nice cosy blanket or two and hat and mitts that should be fine I think.

I'd like to say it's going to be a lazy day in the kitstwins household today but I've got yet more cooking to do and I've promised to take the girls swimming this afternoon. Cue me with my whopping tummy in my green bikini scaring all the natives. At least I'll clear the pool!

Cyclebump · 20/03/2011 09:54

Bikini? Love it!

DP finally came home at about 11.30pm last night but at least he wasn't too pissed, just smelled beery (oh so sexy).

Have baby shower today and I get to see my parents as they're back in the country! Smile

Have just folded all my swaddling muslins and great nan's shawl into a sealed box. Mr Handsome did attempt to get in as he's a magnet for soft clean things to knead and sit on but he was thwarted!

1stTimeMother · 20/03/2011 09:56

morning all - hope everyone is feeling ok/slept a bit/ able to relax on sunday. I'm trying to motivate DH to get his rugby-playing/watching arse in gear and do jobs... am panicking about where on earth all baby clothes/stuff is going to go as we're still in the unpacking stage of our move, have no shelves, etc, etc... Must practice my breathing. Will take myself off to the supermarket & relax in the cake aisle.

On the plus side, picked up moses basket & a load of newborn clothes from my best friend yesterday which are just so sweet and reminded me, as if I needed reminding, what the little starfish is all about.

Petalouda · 20/03/2011 10:30

Morning all,

Cycle have a lovely baby shower and time with your folks!

I love the way Mr Handsome needs no introductions any more, we all know who he is!

I managed to avoid all organised sport yesterday, as is usual for me! DH work's weekends, but fortunately isn't into anything like that. However, I did have to listen to several hours of ridiculous mountain bike conversations last night! And there were no thighs/shoulders to look at. Maybe we've got things wrong after all... Hmm

Well, supermoon or not, I'm still flipping pregnant! I'm sooo heavy, awkward & tired! I've got so much respect for people who have children already - how on earth do you manage?! I can hardly look after myself at the moment! Blush

Oh well, as a wise person (a MNetter!) once said "this is what maternity leave is for" Brew

Cyclebump · 20/03/2011 10:43

I know what you mean Petal, I feel like a whale!

Have just sorted some teeny things into boxes, was most satisfying. As a cyclist myself, I have noticed and absence of muscly shoulders amend the men I ride with. Thighs can crack walnuts though!

Am contemplating shaving my legs but I have a feeling it'll take forever.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/03/2011 10:53

It is tough looking after children when pregnant, but tbh the housework and cooking and all other domestic chores have taken a dive. The tv is on far too much in the day as well Sad

Our cats (we have 3!) all like a basket of freshly laundered clothes as well, it drives me bloody nuts. They especially love to curl up in ds's cot given the chance Angry

I've got pramsuits from ds's, but I really don't think I'll be using them. Layers are the way to go, especially when they're in their car seat - they're made up of plastic, polystyrene and nylon and babies sweat in them anyway. I bloody hate those car seats with a passion!

There is so much to be done around the house, it's never going to be done in time The dust is really getting on my chimes though. I clean and the next time I look there is a layer of dust again - aaaagggghhhhhh

Petalouda · 20/03/2011 11:05

Ah, Cycle, being in devon, the general outdoorsy bunch do a collection of things as well as biking, such as climbing, surfing, paddling etc. - so there's often a lot of good scenery Wink, although sadly not late at night when they're watching some crappy mb film.

ILTMI whenever the cat is suspiciously quiet & out of sight, we have to check the nursery. She's obsessed with the carry-cot (which is fully made up with sheets, etc. now). I managed to stop her trying to get in the crib ages ago by putting a layer of tin foil in it - she hates the feeling on her paws and won't risk it again! (erm, maybe I should put some foil in the carry cot... man I'm dim at the moment!)

My best mate finally joined cat club yesterday (she's been a dedicated dog person) - by rehoming a lovely black youngster. Apparently his brother is to follow soon. It's a sign of my age, I think, that this is the most exciting thing to have happened for a while (that and boring mat leave!).

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 20/03/2011 11:33

ILTMI - everything has taken a dive here too. Realised yesterday that I've totally lost track of what DS has eaten and when. Too much fruit and carbs and not enough good protein and veg in the last week. Really must make that a priority this week and sod everything else.
I'm so pleased we decided to get a cleaner for a few months, we would be living in a pit otherwise Grin
TV on faaar to much here too, although MIL has been here this weekend and has played with DS loads while I have sat on my arse, and my Mum is coming up for two days this week - hurrah!

OMG, I have just started crying watching Happy Feet. I am officially ridiculous.

LisMcA · 20/03/2011 12:28

Ooh Cycle you've got me thinking about Chris Hoy's thighs now (another Scot ladies, we build 'em good up here) :o

Well news here is after my scare this week I have finished packing my hospital bag [pride]. Packed the changing bag with all the baby stuff! just need to make the list of the last minute things to go in for DH and we are sorter!

1st lol at you relaxing in the cake aisle. Do you take your own recliner??

Kits you are a braver woman than I am wearing a bikini! I bought a tankini, but would feel much better wearing one of those old fashioned knitted full length jobbies they wore in Victorian times at the minute!!!

I ordered a Moby Wrap last night, very excited about that arriving next week!

I've got a busy week next week. Spa day part deux is on Tuesday, and I have my second research day at the hospital on Wednesday.

BeetleBaby · 20/03/2011 12:37

It's our first wedding anniversary today Smile not that we're doing anything as I'm feeling like a small, fat, hippo and DH has pulled muscles in his back/shoulders and is barely able to move...I guess we make a good pair.

It is strange to think that this time last year I was in the car with my Dad on the way to get married!

I too bow down (well as far as I can, which isn't very far right now but the sentiment is there!) to those of you with other LO's. I raise a Wine to you all!

No pram suits here either, we've got some furry coat type things, hats, mittens, plus blankets. I'm not planning to venture very far to begin with (if I leave the house at all!) and as it will soon be May/June things will warm up soon enough >places too much trust in British weather emoticon

LisMcA · 20/03/2011 12:42

Happy Anniversary Beetle! So much changes in that first year doesn't it!! Have a lovely lazy day!

Cyclebump · 20/03/2011 13:27

Happy anniversary Beetle!

Drama this end. Eight people cancelled this morning for the baby shower, most citing illness Hmm

I just laughed as I am used to my friends being useless (I never make plans for my birthday for precisely this reason) but my poor sister is distraught! I've called it off (there was one non-family member left) as I'd rather just have a big family lunch TBH.

I'm a little annoyed at those who left it to the last minute to cancel as my sister had planned it all and she's really upset on my behalf. She spent time on it and I've given her permission to guilt trip all she wants in her replies Smile

lucielooo · 20/03/2011 14:56

Ahh cycle how annoying... I have a few friends who are like this too, your poor sis I bet she's so fed up. Hope they are all suitably apologetic and grovelling :)

stuffedmk · 20/03/2011 16:12

Was getting hopeful last night, got mega BHs starting earlier in the day they got to about 5-6 mins apart for a couple of hours then settled down. Back to normal sort of amount today Hmm Oh well, back to waiting.

Petalouda · 20/03/2011 16:39

Stuffed, sounds like what I had during the week last week. I've actually had fewer BHs since about thursday than the 20 weeks previous!

I was hoping for some action last night too - everything's feeling v. heavy, plus with the dropping sensation.

Apart from a massive feeling of CBA and general physical awkwardness, I actually feel further away from dropping today.

This waiting is so dull.

Still, seeing MW tomorrow - hope she gives me something positive to cling to!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 20/03/2011 16:49

Cycle that is so annoying, people can be so shite! Did you get to eat all the food? Grin

stuffed - that is exactly what happened to me last week - and I've not had a niggle since! I feel almost normal again today, I even forgot I was pregnant earlier I felt so comfortable!! Shock

DH has been a star today. He has sorted the garage, mowed the lawn, got all DS' outside toys out and cleaned them, put up more shelves in the baby's wardrobe and taken a load of rubbish to the tip. Feeling much more organised now.
