Executive decision that at 987 posts we're moving over!

New challenge - can we fill up 1000 posts before the first babies arrive, given that we managed to keep our legs crossed all through the last one?!

First babies are due, officially, next month but are there any in such a hurry to see the world that they can beat our chatting?

OP posts:

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeel!

I've asked for reusable nappies as baby shower gifts but as you need so many I bought a few and the nappy bucket eye. And it has all just arrived!!!!

DP just giggled his head off at my enraptured expression.

JustKeepSwimming · 17/03/2011 14:40

PMSL Cycle - thinking you won't be so enraptured when it's full of pooey nappies Grin

NotAnother - well done on finishing!

Not much going on here, DS2 on yet another early waking phase, cannot imagine how little sleep i will be getting once baby is here

kittycatcat · 17/03/2011 14:50

Afternoon April ladies

MrsWajs eek how awful. Hope you are all ok and it gets sorted as easily as possible.

ILTMI oh no your poor LO. Hope its not the pox.

Notanother well done on finishing your novel.

caramellokoalalover · 17/03/2011 15:13

Beetle if you decide to buy over the counter try and get the 3 pack of pessaries. It's better if you attack with full force and use a pessary a night for 3 nights, more likely to clear it up.

Anyone know if midwives can prescribe? I need a prescription and have a MW appt Monday and don't want the hassle of going to the GP if a MW can prescribe.

MrsWaj just glad the accident wasn't serious! And I have thought of little else other than ice cream since you mentioned the coconutterly. Finally tracked some down today in Sainsburys after making do with Phish Food in the meantime. Oh, the hardship Wink

LisMcA · 17/03/2011 16:50

Hello Peeps! I'm back from my travels!

Medical update first:- FIL has pneumonia (sp?) and a urine infection. Still getting the pains in his chest, but they are positive it's not his heart and are nuking him with anitbiotics for his infections.
DGM had a massive stroke overnight on Monday, I didn't know this when we went to see her on Tuesday and it was so upsetting. She couldn't speak or move, I only lasted about 30 seconds before this lovely nurse took me away for a cuppa. But the good news is yesterday she was much improved. She was sitting up and had her teeth in (silly I know, but it made her look more human) and was able to speak. She told my grandad to shut up when he was gibbering about something, so she is back to her old self! She won't be getting home though, and my grandad has accepted this now. They are organising a care home for her for when she does get discharged. No idea when that will be as she is still quite poorly, but at least the ball is rolling there. They are both still in hospital, but we decided to come home because I need my home conforts. Even if it was lovely to have my mum fuss over me.

I've been getting BHs nearly all the time we were up the road, but I think this was probably more to do with all the walking we were doing. Hospital car park was always busy so we ended up in the overflow. FIL and DGM were in opposite sides of the hospital, one ward the furthest from the car park one way and the other the furthest the other!!

I've also had a very dramatic faint. You know the pregnant woman swoon, hand to the forehead! The first time was in DHs old work. He is still in touch with a lot of them and we arranged to meet them for lunch. It was hot and I was standing for longer than I thought I would be. Felt like a right attention seeker as one lady stood fanning me with a case file!!!! I was fine after a glass of water and some cool air, but I'll give the midwife a call tomorrow see if she wants me in for a check up. My BP was really low 100/60 when I'm normally 120/80, last time I was in. This might explain it too.

So, on top of all that, I arrived home today to a letter from work advising I had exhausted my company sick pay back on the 4th Feb and I wouldn't be getting paid for the whole month of Feb, to be deducted off my next pay Shock. So I called them, slightly teary but very angry. No phone call or anything just a letter, with no other explanation. Spoke to the spotty teenager who sent the letter. His response was "I don't do the calculations I only do the letters" Brilliant. Spoke to the calculation person, she said I had exhausted my 30 days company sick pay in a rolling year. Erm, I don't think so! "Well you must have" she said "or else we wouldn't have sent the letter". I asked her is she could check, because before I was signed of with the SPD I think I'd had maybe 8 or 10 days off in the rolling year (mostly to do with pregnancy things). She harrumphed a bit but said she would check. Turns out they mis calculated by 23 days! I'd had 7 days off before being signed off so I was actually only short by 2 days. I've managed to sort it by taking an extra 2 days leave so I don't lose any pay. I really really hate HR. Sorry ladies if any of you work in that area, I am sure you are all very good at your jobs, unfortunatly, they only employ idiots at my work Angry.

In amoungst the mail was another letter from HR (different section) sent the same day thanking me for my MATB1 (that I handed in in December) re-confirming my mat leave date etc, after the last fuck up they had. I don't work for a small local company where they fudge their way through HR issues. This is a FSTE100 company with over 17000 employees. I am beginning to think about not going back at all when my mat leave finishes. But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

DH is off to watch the Darts at the SECC tonight (last minute freebie). He has been warned if he comes home incapable he will not be getting any sympathy from me tomorrow. I have a list of things that need done tomorrow before he goes back to work on Monday.

Sorry for the mega post ladies! Normal service will resume shortly!!

architien · 17/03/2011 17:01

cycle That's such a nice feeling! Brand new nappies. :)

ILTMIMI I hope that the lurgy, pox or not, is out of your house asap.

NotAnother Big sigh of relief and a cake for finishing your book! :D

Ladies I'm feeling the Braxton Hicks too. Not getting more than 3 hours sleep! They seem to start up at night.

I'm having a great day here. My 20 month son's new outfit arrived. Don't laugh, well you can if you like...I know I would :) It's an outfit you can only get away with when they are really small and cute. It's a white embroidered short sleeved shirt, with green velvet Swiss lederhosen with little embroidery on it. He looks so very sweet :) I promise not to dress him like this when he's older...honest I wont. Just now is so very hard to resist :)

Other news here is that my toddler managed to sleep a whole night out of his cot and in his big boy bed (toddler bed). So things are on track for his little sibling arriving hurrah!

Also my thread about music during labour made MN discussions of the day, the sun is streaming through the sitting room window for once and husband just rang to say he will be home at 6 instead of his usual 9:30-10pm :)

Goodness me after all the hastle and pain over the last few months I've forgotten how good it feels when things finally go right!

architien · 17/03/2011 17:08

LisMcA I'm glad you're home and that your gran seems better after that. I hope your FIL continues to get better :)

I wanted to also say that you did grand in setting the HR faulty calculation straight. :D

You can settle yourself down and join the Braxton Hicking Nesting club at home now :)

Cyclebump · 17/03/2011 17:19

Oh Lis, HR cock ups are so not what you need right nowon top of everything else. Well done for sorting it out. Why do so many companies neglect their HR, it's so important!

Good to hear GM is on the mend. My dad had a 'catastrophic' stroke a couple of years ago and has recovered incredibly well. It's amazing what the right support can do. I totally get the teeth thing. Dad was without glasses for days and they shaved his beard (I'd never seen him without one). When we found the glasses and he regrew the beard it was like getting the real him back again.

The workmen are in doing kitchen stuff again. Am pleased but had just tidied Hmm

Tried to knit but Mr Handsome decided I wasn't allowed and sat on my wool. He's just so handsome I couldn't be cross.

BeetleBaby · 17/03/2011 17:46

Lis I'm glad your FIL and GM are both on the road to recovery. Also well done on dealing with the HR debacle. I've yet to work somewhere that doesn't have a crap HR team! At ours they keep loosing the whole of our departments personnel records (about 40 peoples worth!). I say loosing, in fact they are there, they just keep forgetting which shelf they're on Hmm

Cycle I'm having a nappy day too and getting mine washed through so that they are properly absorbent when Little Insect is big enough for them. They're smell so lovely and feel so soft! I used Fairy powder which has also provoked a nostalgia trip back to my childhood Grin

Architien I was under the impression that the main perk of having children was dressing them up in embarrassing novelty outfits Wink Your sons new outfit does sound amazingly cute though!

And thanks to people for the thrush treatment info.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/03/2011 19:16

Seems like you've had a few busy days Lis, glad to hear your relatives are on the road to recovery.

I really don't know if it's the pox yet or not. DS fell asleep (!) at pre school on Tuesday morning (he's only there for just under 3 hors) and has had a few nights of unsettled sleep. Then this morning he woke up and his nose and eyes are streaming and he has a fever. I didn't realise that the pre-cursor to chicken pox was mild flu like symptoms - which is what we have. Plus the pox is going round his pre-school.

I'm sort of hoping he does get it now rather than when the baby is really small, otherwise I'll be crapping it about the new baby. I'm not worried about him getting it while I'm pg because I had a really good dose of it when I was young.

Hurrah for your son sleeping a whole night in his new bed archie. Luckily my sister has donated her dd's old cot be to us so we can keep ds in his cot bed and we'll also have one for the baby.

No news from Ali. Do you reckon there have been developments?

kittycatcat · 17/03/2011 20:00

lis goodness me. hope ur ok.

Question. At how many weeks did your bump drop if it has?

MrsWajs · 17/03/2011 20:31

kitty as far as can see, my bump has never been high at all and people are always commenting on how much it's dropped!! God only knows what it's going to be like when it does finally drop (or maybe it will just stay the way it is)

Lis Glad the famly are soundng a little bit better now, i work in stroke rehab and am always itchng to enquire about what kind of stroke people have had etc when i hear of people that have had one outside work - occupational hazrad i guess. Glad your GM is doing better though.

Well as expected the lady driver we bashed yesterday wasn't up for an independant settlement with us so we are set to pay out £500 excess on the car insurance, however on the positive side it means we are getting our own car repaired too which we wouldn't have been able to afford right now otherwise, we're also getting a free courtesy car too which was a nice surprise!

AussieMum2Be · 17/03/2011 20:34

ILikeToMove You have to go to Carcassonne, you can get direct flights I think it was Easyjet or Ryan Air and it is beautiful, a real medieval town, I have the best pictures !!

Kitstwins I thought I was the slowest on the Piccadilly Line, glad to see i have competition !

Cycle Your so lucky to have your mum, my mum and dad are getting here after the birth in May and Im so excited, counting down the days already

Littlemilla Dont worry, im 36+2 and still planning to work for the next 3weeks,im stopping 4 days before EDD

Lis Glad to hear family are getting better

Well ive been getting those meals cooked and frozen as ive heard suggested, Ive got it portions for 2, 3 shepherds pies, 2 lasagnes, 4 chilli con carnes, 2 pork, onion marinade dishes and currently cooling a flourless chocolate cake, thanks to whoever gave the Nigella recipe with ground almond !! My god smells so GOOD !!

Tomorrow I do a chicken curry and banana cake, I physically can not stop myself from getting everything ready.

Yesterday also put up our cloud transfers onto nursery ceiling, looks so pretty !!

I had midwife appointment yesterday arvo, still measuring small at 32 weeks and was advised baby is back to back so need to sleep on leftside and hang over my gymball, I like that part !

Im also in the no sex category, does using my Epi-No count ?? Its not sexy and I always feel like ive been with an extremely well endowed companion after !! Sorry for TMI but its true, well I hope its stretching everything in preparation, better be doing something cause its not the most fun you can have in bed !

DP is out getting as drunk as possible celebrating St Patricks, so gonna go lie in bed and watch American Idol and my recorded 90210, ahhhhh sounds like a perfect night.

MrsWajs · 17/03/2011 21:12

DP has been eating my coconutterly!!! Shock

CALL. THE. POLICE!!

LisMcA · 17/03/2011 21:40

Right I might be being paranoid here, but I think my waters may have just broke when I was on the loo.

After days of being constipated I've just had dihorea (sorry can't spell, but you get what I mean) at the same time there was a gushing feeling, but not like having a wee. BHs have been really strong tonight but not too much different from the last couple of days.

DH is out so I'm on my own, what do you think???

NotAnotherNewNappy · 17/03/2011 21:52

Put a mat pad on and call your midwife! Diahrea (can't spell either) is also often a first sign. Any othet symptoms? When is your EDD?

Where is DH? Call him too!

Best of luck x

LisMcA · 17/03/2011 21:58

Oh god I was hoping for a "don't be silly"

I'm due 16th so 36 weeks on Saturday. My back is aching, but I'd put that down to the car journey and all the walking I've done the last few days. I've had 2 dihyrdocodine today (not at the same time) so could that be masking any pain! Shit! I don't even have a phone number for my midwife, should I call the hospital! I think thats what we have to do here. Bloody hell!

He's at the darts in Glasgow, we live 15 miles outside Edinburgh. Not answering his phone, but its really noisy on the TV. Crap shit eek!

NotAnotherNewNappy · 17/03/2011 22:04

Should have explained about mat pad but got too excited... You need to put it on so that you can monitor any mote water that might come out, your MW may akso ask to see/sniff it Waters apparently smell like pond water or semen.

Def call DH as you've had the low blood pressure and shouldn't be alone. I may have been overreacting about calling MW at this stage, depends on your overall health in pregnancy. Last time mine went, it felt like a water balloon bursting between my legs.

Cyclebump · 17/03/2011 22:10

Hmmm, I'd call the labour ward just in case Lis.

The numbers you need should be on your notes. Don't panic, could be nothing but ring them and describe it just in case. Better to put your mind at rest.

MrsWajs · 17/03/2011 22:11
Shock

Yes call the midwife and leave DH a voicemail or text so he knows to call back immediately when he see's your missed call!

OMG think I'm freaking more than you!! Ok probably not actually.......!

oh yeah and for future ref - diarrhoea :)

NotAnotherNewNappy · 17/03/2011 22:12

Don't panic! Waters can break days before labour really kicks in. You'd def be able to feel it if things were really kicking off. I'd call labour ward for a bit of reassurance, as you're on your own and it is a little early (but I'm sure baby is fine).

Text your DH, what time were you expecting him back?

MrsWajs · 17/03/2011 22:14

Clearly i am no use in emergency situations! Despite being a nurse!

Have composed myself now!!

NotAnotherNewNappy · 17/03/2011 22:16

Diarrhoea
diarrhoea
diarrhoea

Are you sure MrsWajs? That looks like something you'd see over on the baby name boards Hmm

LisMcA · 17/03/2011 22:20

Got mat pad on, have text DH and called my mum! Baby is kicking away as normal for this time of night.

LisMcA · 17/03/2011 22:23

This is the first time I've been in on my own at night since september!

I haven't even packed my bag properly!
