Executive decision that at 987 posts we're moving over!

New challenge - can we fill up 1000 posts before the first babies arrive, given that we managed to keep our legs crossed all through the last one?!

First babies are due, officially, next month but are there any in such a hurry to see the world that they can beat our chatting?

OP posts:

SarahJinx well it is very useful in that I'm totally putting it out of my mind as makes no sense to me at all! Really pleased to hear all ok with your bloods - must be a relief :)

And baby shower sounds lovely, bless them you seem to have some very sweet colleagues :)

stuffedmk · 16/03/2011 16:27

Ali sounds promising, will be checking in regularly to keep an eye out for news Grin

cycle All that nesting sounds good too.

I am achy today and tired, looks like we are all suffering sleepwise at the moment.
Getting increasingly uncomfortable and have a very healthy waddle going on as baby is gradually dropping.
Yesterday I had an old lady trying to guilt trip me into letting her jump the queue for the toilet, ordinarily I would totally have let her go in front of me but there was only 2 toilets (one ladies one mens) and I was ready to burst....I'm sorry but for once I decided that however desperate she was she could only be as desperate as me and if one of us had to wet themselves it wasn't going to be me. At least I could be in and out of the loo in a couple of mins, she was very slow moving and would have kept me waiting ages. I ended up using the mens anyway as it became free first and I couldn't hang on any longer, no matter what it smelled like in there Shock
OK I must finish up this stupid essay, just needed a break lol.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/03/2011 17:03

Humph - nothing happening today I don't think! I was so tired I decided to have a nap while DS sat on the bed next to me and watched telly , and now everything has tailed off. Still getting BHs, but only BHs, and I feel more like myself again.

Cyclebump · 16/03/2011 17:28

Yay! Another reusable nappy gift arrived today. Lovely.

Gosh Sarah, your colleagues sound fab!

You never know Ali maybe it's the calm before the storm Smile

Stuffed, I would have done the same thing. I have to factor in wee stops all the tine wherever I go at the moment!

Got sucked into a large Mothercare earlier, managed to escape with only socks, hats and a couple of pairs of trousers that were on sale. They had some adorable little dungarees and it took all my willpower not to buy some.

Baby shower is on Sunday and my mum's coming over from France this weekend to sit it out til baby comes Smile I'm trying to save shopping til then.

I miss her loads so can't wait for her to come.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 16/03/2011 17:31

I'm a great believer that things happen for a reason ali, so whatever was happening (or not), some good will come of it. The baby could be getting into a great birthing position or your cervix is getting some good practice in Smile. I ws playing tea parties with ds this afternoon while I was laying down on the sofa - so please don't feel bad!

My blood pressure has got lower (although still in the normal range) at each antenatal check. I have no idea what that is about!

I've also had ketones when I least expect it (ie only 3 or so hours after I've eaten), but then no ketones when I would expect it (first wee of the day). Go figure!

The party sounds lovely SJ Smile

chips - ds hasn't had chicken pox either so as this baby is due smack bang in the middle of chickenpox season, I'm really hoping he doesn't get it until the next wave of it comes along .

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 16/03/2011 17:33

How exciting that your mum is coming over Cycle, how lovely. It will be nice to spend some time together before the baby is born as well.

Cyclebump · 16/03/2011 17:40

It really will be good to have some mum time.

She's a super organiser when I get panicky and we're already planning launderette trips to catch up on teeny clothes and bedding (we don't have a dryer), we're also thinking Ikea and various other bits. Mostly though I just want to ask her stuff.

My dad is coming over as well and I'm looking forward to a bear hug. He's 6ft 7" and the father of three girls so is still 'big daddy' even though we're now 34, 28 and 27 Blush He's also super excited about the baby so I'm hoping he won't miss the big moment if he has to go back to France.

LittleMilla · 16/03/2011 20:01

cycle your parent time sounds brilliant. I know that since being pg I have got a new appreciation for my ma. I've got her booked in to help me out once DH goes back to work. She's a cleaning-fiend and I know she'll keep my flat looking ace!

Had an absolutely brilliant MW appt today - still on a massive high! I'm 34+3 and have been told that baby is already very low down. So 3/5ths engaged!? MW said that this is good news and it could mean that baby might come a little bit early...and will hopefully mean that I won't go overdue. All tests were fine and dandy and as the MW is due ten days before me...we just had really nice chats. I'm SO excited!!

Braxton Hicks are driving me bananas! Any sudden movement in the night triggers them and I am struggling to concentrate at work as I'm getting quite distracting ones about 2-3 times an hour? I'm not worried that it's anything other than BH, but I just want to get home and start nesting now! SO jealous of everyone that's finished...another two weeks to go !!

xx

JustKeepSwimming · 16/03/2011 20:06

I've done a little bit of nesting this evening; filled a box in the playroom with all the soft baby toys, awww :)
And got the carrycot for the pram downstairs, need to take off and wash whatever comes off, not tonight though.
Just a little bit of activity wears me out, it feels pathetic and like i spend nearly all day sat on my *rse!!

Lots of kicking this evening, am getting a bit tender on the inside from repetitive attacks to the same spot, ouch.

Liv77 · 16/03/2011 21:00

Evening All, DS seems better today thanks, although he did wake at 5.45am but I pointed out it was still dark and persuaded him to go to sleep in our bed. Smile
We ventured out this afternoon with my mum in tow to get our hair cut, Mum took him to the library while I stayed to have mine finished and apparently he did a really stinky silent fart in the library lift Grin

Had my 37Wk ANC this morning and blood pressure has shot up to ???/94 (can't remember exactly and hospital have kept my notes as I have to go back in on Friday morning). I had to spend this morning on the labour ward today for observation. Looks like it's following a similar pattern to DS1 who was born at 40+2.
The on-call consultant said they now prefer babies in this situation to be born at 39 weeks. Shock I don't know if that means a planned CS or if they try and induce you early. Don't really fancy either option Sad. Will have to wait and see what happens on Friday and then i'll be seeing my consultant next Wednesday.

On the plus side I feel fine Smile

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/03/2011 21:02

Cycle that sounds lovely :)

Thank you for talking about peeing everyone, must remember to put my pot on the side next to the loo to remind myself to do a sample tomorrow morning! What counts as first wee of the day - anything from 4am onwards??
I am seeing the community midwife tomorrow pm. If I have another day like today then I think I might ask her to examine me and see what (if anything!) might be happening.

ILike - I am trying to think that it won't all have been for nothing! Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/03/2011 21:05

Liv - x-posts. Glad DS is feeling better. Grin at the lift fart!
Do they think you've got PE, is that the reason for wanting the baby out a bit early? Fingers crossed that all is well :)

Liv77 · 16/03/2011 21:17

That's what they are monitoring for. I had the same high BP with DS but was medicated for the last few weeks and it didn't develop any further. As far as I'm aware they are just going to monitor my BP, babies FHR and take bloods again on Friday. I had a scan booked with the ob for 39+4 as baby was slightly under the desired weight so they are going to move that forward a week.

1stTimeMother · 17/03/2011 07:50

BeetleBaby thanks for links.

Anyone else find that even the slightest twinge is now setting you on edge?!?! I am just constantly wondering what weird aches are.. but still willing baby to move as I'm pretty sure I'm still back to back.

Mission for today is to not eat all the brownies I made yesterday. Just gave half the batch to DH to take to work in an effort not to eat them all myself.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/03/2011 08:57

I hope your bp stays nice and stable liv77, fingers crossed.

Ali - when your body gets closer to delivery cells in your cervix start to die off and this will show in your urine when it is dipped. You could also ask your MW today if there is any sign of that.
It's quite normal and expected, so much so that a lot of MW's don't mention it. Which I think is silly as I think it's quite a motivating sign that things are moving in the right direction. I can't for the life of me remember what exactly it shows up on as on the dipstick though

No pre school for ds today as he is full of cold. His nose and eyes are running like open taps bless him. He was also up in the night about 3 times again, however dh got up every time - good old boy Smile

Waves of nausea keep re-occurring here. Did I not have enough of that for the first 16 weeks ffs!!

1sttime - I'm glad I'm not the only one who has to make dh take cakes I've baked to work because I end up eating them Blush

Cyclebump · 17/03/2011 10:04

I wish I had an oven to bake with Sad

Another BH filled night last night. So annoying!

Hang in there Liv, my BP has been up and down. Did they take it more than once. My mws always take mine a couple of times just in case as I stress about it and it makes it worse.

The office/baby's room is my aspirational tidy target today!

MrsWajs · 17/03/2011 11:00

Ok you guys sound like you are the konwledge on BHs so wanted to pick your brains, don't think i've had any before but yesterday i decided it would be a good idea for DP and I to have a wee bit of nooky! i know, i know, probably wasn't the best idea but seemed like it was at the time (he's not nagged me for ages lol!) anyway it all went ok until afterwards, i could feel my tummy getting a bit tight with all the, ahem, movement and when i went to get up to go to the loo, my whole stomach went into like a spasm and i could hardly move, it was mega painful, was that a BH or just a bit of cramp? I imagine if labour is gonna be like that it will hurt A LOT!!

In other bad news, DP rear-ended someone in the car yesterday :( i was there too and thankfully it was just a little bump which managed to put a huge dent in the other womans bumper.....of her Audi!! DP has only been passed his test 2 weeks so am having nightmares about insurance premiums now :( Tried to phone her yesterday and ask if she would mind setlling outside the insurance for above mentioned reasons but she wasn't keen. So we're just waiting to see what she says, could really do without this expense so close to baby arriving but i guess accidents can't be helped. DP is beside himself as essentially the car is mine and only a year old but i'm not stressing about it, i had my fair share of little bumps when i first passed, although admittedly they were in a clapped out fiesta! On the positive side our car really isn't too bad at all, it has a few little scuffs and a small dent which you can hardly notice, on the down side the way the car is made we would need to replace the whole front splitter which is massive and likely to cost upwards of a thousand pounds!! Pretty sure i can live with the bump!!

Cyclebump · 17/03/2011 11:04

Oh no MrsWajs! that sucks!

Thank goodness it was only a minor bump and you're both ok.

Oh and the BH thing after, ahem, relations? You're not alone. In fact, I'm sure I read a thread on MN about getting BHs after orgasm. Of course I just stumbled across it... Blush

BeetleBaby · 17/03/2011 11:50

I'm glad to hear that it was only a slight bump and your all ok MrsWajs and hope the insurance isn't too bad.

And yes, BH after some, ahem, nudge, nudge Wink Wink happens here too Blush

To follow on from that Blush inducing topic it looks (or more feels) like I've got thrush Sad do I have to go to the Docs to get the ok to use the pessary/cream or can I go to Boots as usual, does anyone know? I'm at the MW on Tuesday and probably won't be able to get an appointment before then anyway so really hoping I can just pop to Boots*!

Right, me and my starfish mimicking baby (yes, it does hurt when you stretch like that Little Insect) are going to go empty some of the boxes in the spare bedroom. Those boxes that we never got around to unpacking when we moved in September!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/03/2011 12:10

They certainly do sound like BH's MrsWajs Grin When dh and I indulge(!) I get awful BH's which have me rolling around the bed in bloody agony. At least it's a sign of having a good time!!

When I called pre-school to say ds wouldn't be going in today they warned that chicken pox is doing the rounds and the signs are (you guessed it), everything ds has. Oh well, we shall see ....

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/03/2011 12:12

If you don't mind paying Beetle you can buy the pessary over the counter. A lot of supermarkets just have it on their shelves now as well.

Cyclebump · 17/03/2011 12:28

Ah, sigh, I only wish my nookie knowledge was from recent experience. The only response I get to my usual moves is 'But there's a baby in there!'. To be fair, baby had just kicked DP but still!

Have just pulled my bump while trying to sweep up plaster dust. Ouch. I have a friend and her small baby coming over tomorrow so I want it to be at least a bit cleaner. Oh well.

Goddamn the nesting! Normally I hate cleaning and am happy to live in controlled squalor.

NotAnotherNewNappy · 17/03/2011 12:51

Your poor DH Mrs Wajs, I bet he feels awful. I agree, a minor bumps are par of the course for the first year. At least he did it while baby was safe inside and can get over the fear of having his first accident now!

ILTMIMI - Argh chicken pox season!! How is your DS? Do you think he might have it? DD1 had it horribly last spring - she started off just feeling miserable, not sleeping and throwing up a few days before the spots appeared. My advice would be to go in armed - get some Piriton syrup (wonderful over the counter anti-histamine that relieves itching and will help him to sleep), bicarb of soda (add a couple of tbsp to cool bath to relieve itching), calamine cream (for sore clusters of spots) and calamine lotion (thinner solution that you can decant into a spray gun and shoot at him if he won't stay still to let you apply cream!). Best of luck, really hope it's a false alam x

I've just printed out the whole novel for DH to proof read. It's enormous, it'll take him years to read it. I can't really send it back to the agent without proofing but I'm running out of time now. By the way the baby is pressing down on my cervix, I'd say I'm already in the latent stage of labour - but as DH and my mum keep reminding me, I've been saying that for weeks Grin

I can't believe you're all having sex Envy

Cyclebump · 17/03/2011 12:55

Thank God NotAnother, I thought I was the only one being denied bedroom shenanigans.

ecuse · 17/03/2011 14:19

NotAnother - woohoo! You finished? Proof-read or not, that must feel amazing. Congrats!
